Alicia Jones has been through a lot since the invention of FTL, and she was ready to get on with her life as a scientist and put what happened behind her. She was done with the military, except perhaps a planned invention or two. She was also set to complete her dissertation defense, and has plans to buy a house and start a business with her best friend Kristi.
Something she’d never expected happens though, when she calms down and starts to get back to her normal life, she wonders if a normal life is enough for her anymore. When General Denton calls her, requesting her help, she jumps at the chance, and finds out sometimes in life you have to be careful what you wish for
I've been an avid book reader since I was a teenager in the 1980's. My preferred genre's are science fiction and fantasy.
I wrote some short stories and was encouraged to try writing and self publishing by some friends. I work in computers and writing is an obsessive hobby I have been trying to hone for a couple of years now. I'll let you judge if I have succeeded or not.
“Interstellar Incident, second in the 'Alicia Jones' series, takes place in the immediate aftermath of “First Contact. There's a lot of scene setting so not a lot really happens until almost the halfway point. With money pouring in from her various patents Alicia and Kristi set about creating a creative company for their inventions, as well as buying a home. Work on the creation of a space fleet to match that of the Knomen Empire continues, mostly under the radar. Earth, when ready, will remove itself from Knomen control but the Empire has no intention of letting that happen toi leave is to be bombed back to the Stone Age (According to the series the last time it happened Atlantis went kersplat!) Ships on their own, of course, are no deterrent but a unified force would be one. And who, oh who, could lead such a multi-cultural force? Alicia Jones, by a unanimous vote! The problem with editing hasn't been resolved, though it is not as bad as in the first book:- “I was still making more than I could spend. I’m not complaining, but illustrating the money itself was becoming a full time job. ٰܲپԲ? 2 Stars.
Decent story, good action, good characters. The Empire, as written, seems to be stuck on stupid. Ideas, rules, stuff, it just doesn't last forever. For example, our Congress kicking the can of outrageous debt down the road. The next time we do this, include a provision that makes congress responsible for the laws they pass. If they had to stand surity for them, it might be better. I don't know if it's true or not, but I read that Roman engineers that build bridges, had to live under them for a while. We need the same concept in government.
This story of a Alien PHD Princess who brings Earth’s Humans into the interstellar empire was a very interesting entertaining fast paced action packed story that I really enjoyed reading.
Every bit as good as the first one, though I'm a bit rusty on all of the events in the first book, since it's been awhile since I read it, but still, great way to pass some time if you're a scifi fan.
I am enjoying this series immensely, and recommend it heartily. On the downside, the books are in serious need of proof readers. The grammar, spelling and misuse of words is vey distracting. It won't stop me from reading the last four books, though. Good story!!!
I really enjoyed this book. Easy to read and kept my interest.A series I can't wait to read more of.Breathless with anticipation of what's going to happen next.
Below are some examples from this book: (1) Nadia Avdonin? 'Avdonin' is a Russian *masculine* surname. The feminine equivalent is 'Adonina'. (2) 'Adrienne leaned forward in his chair', but 'Adrienne is the French feminine form of the male name 'Adrien'. So, either Adrienne Fournier is a woman or a man with a woman's name (the latter option seems rather unlikely to me). (3) Things like “more bulkier and the use of “conscious instead of “conscience
Maybe there wasn't any editor and/or proofreader maybe to fix these issues.
I read the two books quite speedily. I like the series, but I would appreciate if it was longer and explain a bit more some of the technology that are glossed over... But! So far I wasn't disappointed by the author, please continue to entertain me.
