The third Elite Guardians novel is exciting from start to finish. Mysterious circumstances and intrigue abound, from a Hunger Games-type situation to a fascinating hidden villain. This story will keep readers on the edge of their seats waiting to find out if the hero and heroine will be safe. The romance storyline is heartwarming yet realistic, as Quinn and Maddy each deal with their own baggage that keeps them from being fully invested in pursuing a relationship. Eason's book will keep readers up late into the night with its gripping, intense storyline.
Detective Quinn Holcombe tries to recruit former FBI agent-turned-Elite Guardian Maddy McKay to help investigate a serial killer case. When the two are captured, drugged and wake up in a concrete bunker, they must rely on their wits and training to help them escape. A man calling himself the Chosen One has targeted them for a reason, and it appears they are part of a bigger revenge plot. After skating around their feelings for each other for a while, can Quinn and Maddy look past their individual shortcomings to lean on each other in order to save their lives

Characters - 5 stars, amazing, I wuv dem so much, I want to wrap Quinn up and bubble wrap and keep him safe from his emotions and those mean people, and GAH!

Story\content - 3 stars, hmmm, ehhh.

I wanted to like this book a lot, because of the characters, but the story was a lot creepier than the other ones, which I didn't like.

Favorite character - Quinn. I don't know why, because he really isn't that likable of a guy, but I just loved him! There's something about the irritable, sarcastic, smart detective that makes me like him even though he isn't that nice. (Cyril from London in the Dark, anyone?) I knew there was a lot of emotional baggage he was carrying around, which is perhaps why I was drawn to him. There were plenty of times I just wanted to wrap him up in bubble wrap and protect him from the world, and his inner accusatory voice. His story\character arc was phenomenal. Kudos, Eason! I also liked Maddy, although I felt that her character was a little under-devoloped. Which, I actually didn't mind so much, because Quinn's was therefore more prominate, which I was more interested in.

The storyline was fairly well done, although for my personal preferences and tastes, it was a little overmuch on the creepy side. People being kidnapped and brought to a tropical island to be hunted like animals? Ummm . . . O:O Also, the whole premise of a serial killer is just super freaky to me. You could have basically ended the story in the first third, which I found odd\slightly annoying. The story had a lot of ebb and flow to it, which I wasn't totally partial to.

The ending was so sweet though! I absolutely loved it!

I had a feeling this one would be creepier than the first two, and in a lot of ways it was. I honestly can’t recommend it for anyone who doesn’t like insanely suspenseful or serial killer chasing the main characters kind of books. It’s definitely both. I admit, there were some times I though “Eww, gore or “Did I really need to know that? (because my imagination is quite active, y’all) and did lower ratings for those parts. The whole plot wasn’t a walk in the park, though. It’s all about a sociopathic serial killer trying to get revenge (in justice, in his eyes, more on that below) on Maddy & Quinn. There were some parts I didn’t seen coming, but the majority of the time, I had an inkling what was going to happen next.
I’m not a fan of books that even mention twisting Scriptures. That’s not okay to me. This one was different, however, in the fact you kind of figure out the killer is a madman and you really don’t take him at his word.
There was quite a bit of Spiritual Content (and not just from the twisted killer’s POV), which was nice and seemed realistic. I really liked Maddy and Quinn, and do plan on read the fourth and final book in this series when it comes out. But, this series really isn’t for those who don’t like suspenseful reads or books with serial killers—and nothing is wrong with that, I definitely didn’t when I was younger, but have become highly interested in Criminal Justice, so that’s why I have read (and mostly enjoyed) this series. ;)

Wow. Just..... wow.

I'm the type of person who has trouble reading suspense books before bed. They don't give me nightmares, but... if I don't finish the book before going to sleep, my mind has a hard time shutting down & I'll end up spending half the night subconsciously turning the story over & over trying to figure out how it'll end instead of getting the rest I need. This is the kind of book that I wanted-- no, needed-- to sit down and read all the way through without stopping. If only I could have done that... Because often, the only time I get to read is right before going to bed and this book is one of those that just sat on my brain until every last detail was revealed. On the positive side of that, I ended up figuring out part of the solution in my sleep. haha! ;P

This book is just as fast-paced and intense... just as interesting, and well-written, and enjoyable... as the previous books. However, this one somehow goes beyond what I usually read, I think. There were some pretty heavy topics ().

I cried. I'm okay with admitting that. She definitely made me cry more than once. But she also made me grin and laugh.

Maddy & Quinn both have such difficult pasts that they need to come to terms with so they can move on. And making their way through this serial killer's plans for them forces them to face their pasts and reveal their struggles. The entire book is one battle after another-- some physical, others not so much. And learning to lean on and trust God plays an important part in it all. I love how Maddy asks Quinn how his relationship is with God. She loves him and wants a life with him, but she's concerned about his spiritual condition & that's where her love for him really shines through, I think.

I did pretty much figure out who the culprit was (in my sleep, as you may recall), but that still didn't detract from the suspense of wondering how they were going to piece everything together and what might happen in the meantime!

I loved this book. I really did. And after three such great books, I really cannot wait to get my hands on the fourth book!! There's a preview for it in the back of this book, but I refuse to read it. Why do they insist on tempting us like this?! I don't want a taste now if I'm gonna have to wait for a few months or more before I can have the whole meal! :P

Wow....This guy was loco...and I could not for the life of me pinpoint who the bad guy was...like until the end when...well, I won't spoil but that took a turn I did not expect.

Characters:
Maddy was so sweet, but also feisty and I love her character! Also, it was adorable anytime anyone called her Mads! Ack! I loved that!
Quinn! My man, I got his backstory and needless to say my heart is aching! Like, I understand why he is the way he is and I'm happy that Maddy could help him work through some stuff, even if they did have to almost die multiple times for it to come to light. *hugs Quinn*
Sherlock and Watson were adorbs! I just love the puppies!
As always the supporting characters are fantastic and I wish I had a group of friends as close-knit as everyone on the Elite Guardians team!

Themes:
That God is there in every situation and always waiting on us to come back to Him when we wander. He never leaves us alone. (Funny story, Alone by Hollyn is playing as I write this...lol...so Quinn...haha...)

Language:
N/A

Romances:
A few kisses, again nothing super detailed, which I appreciate.

Overall:
This book is intense, as in if it was a movie I might not be watching it because it's a lot...Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the read, but the bad guy is a real sicko. It's a serial killer and what this guy does, and other cases that are vaguely brought up, flip my stomach.
There was a mention of a mass grave, but nothing super detailed. Eason does well with giving you enough details to give you the picture without making you want to lose your lunch, so to speak.

Moving Target was a very chilling and suspenseful tale! The tension began early on in the novel, when Quinn and Maddy found themselves captives, forced to participate in a “survival game with a madman.

This story is book three in the series, yet it can stand alone if you have not read the other books. However, if you have read books one and two, you will know that both Maddy and Quinn recovered from life-threatening wounds in the recent past and that they have feelings for each other.

Moving Target had many dangerous situations for these characters to overcome. There was also a good bit of detective work as Quinn and Maddy tried to determine who was behind their abduction. The romantic tension between these two was also quite good. Quinn, especially, had a lot he was struggling with from his past that he needed to deal with before he could look toward the future.

Moving Target is a nice addition to the Elite Guardians series and I definitely recommend it for fans of suspense.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Oh, wow, did this book ever freak me out!! The MCs get kidnapped from the heroine's South Carolina home and taken to an island off the Florida coast to be hunted like wildlife!!

I kept being sure something horrid was going to happen to them, as they passed booby traps and pits of spears and ran past arrows being shot...at first this novel is strict thriller. Even when we get to more procedural stuff, you know something terrible is waiting to pounce on them...well, I couldn't put it down. I had my suspects and I stuck to them from the moment I met them, and in the end one of them was the right guy. But it was SSSOOOO creepy that I had to finish it past bedtime, and then left a nightlight on to keep from dreaming about it!

One of Eason's best books.

Moving Target by Lynette Eason is book three in the Elite Guardians series. I read where Eason described the book as a cross between the Hunger Games and Survivor and I would agree with that description wholeheartedly. The tension in the beginning is full throttle.

In case you haven’t been reading the series (which I would highly recommend), Quinn is a Detective and Maddy is a former FBI agent who is now a body guard. Quinn is working a serial killer case that he and Maddy end up being the focal point of. The Chosen One was one of the creepiest villains with his need to play games with his victims. The scenes on the island where they were kidnapped were described so well that you were holding your breath.

My one warning. The excerpt for Chasing Secrets leaves you craving the rest of Haley’s story.

Eason is one of my favorite writers and Moving Target definitely keeps her on that list with the perfect balance of romance and suspense. Well plotted novel that I enjoyed from start to finish.

Sexual content: kissing
Violence: several dead bodies, kidnapping, game of life and death on the island

This was one crazy story and the story took me again on a rollercoaster ride and kept me in the dark right till the end. Maddy and Quinn is two characters who have been through so much already during this series, and now a serial killer is throwing them into more serious circumstances.

The relationship between Quinn and Maddy was much like their escape from the serial killer - giving readers heart stopping scenes where you are left with the hope of a happy ending.

So far, the Elite Guardian’s series have great mystery and suspense going for them with a dash of humor. Since these are “Christian fiction, there is no sex and no swearing, but several references to God and scripture. This particular story deals with serial who thinks they are “The Chosen One.

This one was a true page burner - mystery and suspense was carried all the way through with a satisfying ending. The narrator in the audiobook version was wonderful.

No!
Nooooo!
Seriously? NO!!!!!!!

That was me intermittently throughout the whole read. Mercy, my heart can't take these creepy, sinister suspense novels. Some of the time I was yelling at the characters and some of the time I was chiding myself and occasionally I was fuming at the author. Oh yeah...big time. Gah! She made it right in the end but still. I think this story shaved ten years off my life!

The kind of novel that keeps you nervously checking over your shoulder days later. A truly twisted, evil mastermind brings a new level to the meaning of stalking. Edge-of-your seat from start to finish. A sense of urgency. A muddied trail of clues. The shadow of danger lurking on every page. Cue dark organ music and make sure you have replacement bulbs for your night lights!

As always, Eason expertly weaves romance and suspense in equal measures which thrills me no end. Love the fact that Maddy and Quinn have a history as friends...with the hope of something more. But both have personal issues that prevent them from acting on those deeper feelings.

This is the third book in the Elite Guardian series but it reads great as a standalone. I'm a fan of the series so I enjoyed the 'page time' previous heroines and heroes received in this one. Love the continuity of the bodyguard angle. And there's a delicious teaser from book four which has an Irish connection. Woot!!!! Chasing Secrets will be out this summer.

Maddy McKay and Quinn Holcombe didn't show up for Quinn's surprise birthday party, despite Maddy assuring their friends that they would be there. Their friends know something's wrong, and when neither of them can be reached, their friends are really concerned. But the question is - where are they? Maddy awoke to find herself in a cement room with no knowledge of how she got there. Her one consolation is that Quinn is with her. Soon this pair must use all of their wits to try to survive a cat and mouse game where they are the bait and a serial killer is the hunter. Because if they fail, they die.

I've enjoyed each of the books in this series. This one was no exception. I loved getting to know Maddy and Quinn more. In some ways this book felt like a cross between the Hunger Games and Survivor. This was a very fast read for me. It's been one of the few books this year that I really couldn't put down. The action kept me guessing and I ended up really enjoying the book.

I received a copy from the publisher for free as part of the Revell Reads blog program. I was not required to like the book, only give my honest opinion.

Amazing writing, gripping plot, unforgettable characters....and very dark and intense. I can't not give it 5 stars, but let's just say that I've had my fill of this genre for awhile. I'm finishing Into Thin Air, and then it's all vanilla frosting for me for several books.

Wow! Moving Target has a very involved, creative storyline, that grips you from the beginning! I had a hard time putting this one down.

Maddy and Quinn have appeared in the other two books in the series, but it is exciting to get their story. They realistically go from friends to more in this edge-of-your-seat thriller.

I paused when I realized the meaning behind the title and reveled in its brilliance. I highly recommend Moving Target to those who enjoy a good suspense novel.

5 Stars!
Lynette Eason is one of my all time favorite authors, her new releases are always on my list of books that I most look forward to reading! Moving Target reaffirms yet again why Lynette is one of my favorite authors. Quinn and Maddy's relationship has been slowly building since book one of the series and I have been rooting for them since the start, so needless to say I was really excited to see them get their happily ever after! I was most definitely not disappointed with Moving Target, it was soooo good! Even though I have read every single one of Lynette's books I am always blown away by her talented writing as well as her ability to keep things fresh and new. I was very impressed by the complexity of both Maddy and Quinn's back stories, up until this book we have known very little about Maddy or Quinn and as I learned their stories my heart really went out to both of them. I can always count on Lynette's books to have a great faith story and the faith thread in Moving Target was woven into the story beautifully, I loved seeing both Maddy and Quinn come to rely further on God!
I loved the suspense in this book, so much of it was unlike anything I've ever read before!
I usually end up binge reading Lynette's books in 24 to 48 hours but this one took me several days to read mainly because I was busy and in a bit of a reading slump but I am really glad that it worked out that way because I got to appreciate and really savor the awesomeness of this book perhaps more so than if I had speed read it!
Overall, I loved Moving Target and highly recommend it as well as books one and two of the Elite Guardians series, I cannot wait for the release of Haley's book later this year, as well as anything and everything else that Lynette Eason writes!

In book #3 of the Elite Guardians Series we meet Maddie McKay and Quinn Holcombe living their normal lives when in the quickest turn of events I've ever read their lives are thrust into darkness, danger, and a twisted game of death.

It was an interesting twist to see such a dramatic event take place so early in the story but it worked and kept me thumbing through pages quicker than I imagined. One of the things I didn't like in book #2 of the series (Without Warning) was the lack of protective behavior displayed by the hero but there was no shortage in this one and I appreciate that. Lynette Eason developed Quinn into the kind of hunky hero any girl would want by her side ... if only he'd get past his personal issues. No spoilers here but it was nice to see a hero come full circle and that bodes well for Ms. Eason's character development.

The plot was full of twists and turns and definitely had me guessing to the very end but I believe a part of that was just out of sheer confusion over the number of characters listed as potential suspects-especially when half the characters changed their names to hide their past. Definitely confusing. As much as I enjoyed the thrilling suspense early on in the story I have to say that it left me slightly disappointed with the climatic end-which wasn't nearly as climatic as the beginning-and a little unsatisfied with the level of motivation driving the killer.

Of the Elite Guardian Series, this was by far my favorite, though I'm actually really looking forward to book #4 which, Ms. Eason gives a sample chapter of at the end. This story, though part of a series, can easily be picked up as a stand alone but reading the series from the beginning is helpful to understand the characters past with each other. Moving Target will thrill Lynette Eason fans and satisfy readers who love a true romantic suspense story.

Maddy has stood by Quinn through all of his rehabilitation even though he was a hard patient to be around. Quinn was there for Maddy when someone cut her throat and she almost lost her life. Now they are both running for their lives after a madman kidnaps them and places them on an Island to hunt them. But Quinn and Maddy refuse to be victims and they are determined to find the person responsible and put them away. Not only are they fighting for their lives, but they are fighting for their relationship. Both have family issues to deal with that keep them from pursuing a more personal relationship. But being in danger and having those they love threatened brings them closer together and willing to work through emotions they would rather stifle.

Moving Target was exciting from the beginning to the very end! Fast-paced and suspenseful, it kept me staying up late to finish it and find out who was behind the games. I loved Quinn and Maddy together. I especially love the Elite Guardian team. They are some strong women! I also have to say that I love love love the covers of the Elite Guardian series. Back to Quinn and Maddy's story...the beginning did have me wondering about a Hunger Games theme, but the feeling quickly went away and I was pleasantly surprised by the direction the story went. Woven throughout the story was Quinn and Maddy's personal relationship. Not just between them, but also with their family members. It made them much more personable and showed a more vulnerable side to both which makes them seem more real. I enjoyed Moving Target very much and am looking forward to the next installment of the Elite Guardian series.

Moving Target is the 3rd book in the Elite Guardians series. The first two have been amazing and this one is no less awesome. The book grabbed me from the first pages and kept me devouring it to see how all the pieces fit. Maddy and Quinn were great characters with broken hearts from hurts in their past and it was a pleasure getting to know them and see those hurts healed. I loved the theme of God being able to take the anger and bitterness and make it something new. Now I eagerly look forward to Haley's story....August 2017 can't come soon enough!!

2.5 stars? Maybe? I don't know.

I was excited to read this book because it sounded so different from the first two in the series (which were fairly similar). I was also intrigued by Quinn and Maddy and looked forward to having a plot that focused on them and their relationship.

The amount of times I thought, "Are you for real?" while reading cannot be counted.

This book opens with Quinn and Maddy getting kidnapped and taken to a private island where a serial killer wants to hunt them down in the jungle. It's like Survivor meets Live PD. This was obviously incredibly strange and, for me, incredibly uncomfortable. I like a good suspenseful mystery, but this was too much.

I had this horrible vision of the entire book taking place on the island, but thankfully it did not. But even when Maddy and Quinn got back home, things were just off. We heard about different serial killers and their disturbing MOs. The killer after Quinn and Maddy twisted religion to justify his actions and called himself "the chosen one" like he was Harry Potter or something. It was just so bizarre that I couldn't wrap my mind around it.

To make matters worse, Quinn and Maddy, who I have been interested in throughout this series, were just...meh. Quinn is actually a major grump and not likeable, and Maddy is just okay.

I've been really enjoying this series, but I don't know what to think now. I want to believe this was just a fluke...but it was a disturbing one.

This review does come with a warning, once you pick this book up your not going to be able to put it down, action packed from the beginning to the end. I even thought once we were off the roller coaster, and guess what, not!
We are back with the Elite Guardians, and this is the third book in the series, and it is just as good as the other two thrillers, and you are not going to be disappointed. Now you don’t have to have read the first two to enjoy this one, but once you read one of them you are going to be hooked and want more.
This one is a personal one, with Maddy McKay, a member of the Elite, and Quinn Holcombe a FBI investigator, and someone wants these two dead, and it has to be in the right order. Wow, we go from one terror scene to another and then quickly to another, this evil person seems to be brilliant and uses his smarts to hurt others, will these two be able to survive all that is about to happen?
I for one cannot wait for the next book in this series, and it can’t come soon enough, I loved reading this thrilling page-turner.
I received this book through Revel Publishing Blogger Tour, and was not required to give a positive review.

While it cannot be said I remember every book I've ever read, there is one chilling short story from high school that I'll never forget: "The Most Dangerous Game," by Richard Connell. Moving Target takes the basic concept of that story and brings it into the modern era, but in a twisted game rigged against the prey.

I kind of wish the time on the island had lasted longer--survivalist stories are always so thrilling. However, the suspense holds throughout the story; that's one thing that I can always depend on in an Eason book--non-stop action and suspense. I do wish Maddy had been a bit wiser in some of her choices a couple times in the book; given her background in law enforcement, I would have expected a more sensible course of action, especially when her gut is warning her that something is off. In her place, I'd have been paranoid and suspicious of everyone with ties to the case.

Both Maddy and Quinn are dealing with baggage (similar enough that I wanted to bash their heads together a couple times--clear case of the pot and kettle), but it's nice to see them make progress throughout the book and develop a greater understanding of God. They aren't my favorite couple of the series, but when the chips are down, they work well together.

Thank you Revell and NetGalley for providing a free e-book. No review, positive or otherwise, was required, and all opinions are my own.

"If ever there was a time in his life he should pray, it would probably be now."

Quinn Holcombe and Maddy McKay suddenly find themselves locked into a deadly game of "cat and mouse"; having been kidnapped and imprisoned on a deserted island, only to be set free as moving targets for a demented hunter. It's all a game, and one they know that they must win in order to stay alive.

If Maddy McKay was honest with herself, she would admit to having loved Quinn Holcombe for a long time. He was by her side following a brutal attack, then she returned the favor after he was horribly injured, enduring countless hours of rehabilitation. Timing is everything, and both of them admit to needing more of it, but it is becoming abundantly clear that the clock has started ticking at a much faster pace, as evidence about a mass murderer is unearthed before their very eyes. Fortunately, or unfortunately, terror has a way of bringing undeclared emotions to the surface.

Lynette Eason has skillfully written a well plotted suspense with characters that are easy to love; not a simple task, and she has done it well.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

Y'all,ÌýMoving TargetÌýhas the best, explosive opening I have read in a suspense book in a long time. I mean seriously. I had to take a moment, pause, breathe, and get my heart rate under control before resuming. And this is a BOOK!!!

Ms. Eason uped the ante with Maddy and Quinn's story, the third book in the Elite Guardians series. I mean seriously! I cannot express enough how awesome this book was. The whodunnit threw me completely! Every time I was sure I knew who the killer was, a twist would arrive. I LOVE THAT!!

And the romance! *Sigh* Maddy is my hero. That girl knows her heart and knows her man. You would think it would make for a dull combination, but not so. I couldn't help but smile during the romantic scenes between the two.

Lynette Eason’s Elite Guardians series just keeps getting better and better with this addition of Moving Target. This one was very creepy and from the first page I was holding my breath. I have been rooting for Maddy since I first met her in the opening pages of Always Watching especially after what happened to her. And then Quinn’s dilemma in Without Warning had me on the edge of my seat, so I was pretty happy these two were getting their own story. What a story it was. It was like Hunger Games mixed with the TV show Castle. Not really sure who the Chosen One was or how he/she/them was able to do all they could really had me even looking over my shoulder.

Within these pages of action, romance, and even terror, we have deeper issues like the topic of forgiveness for oneself and family. Maddy and Quinn make a great team and I like that they already had an established relationship even though it was a bit of a murky one. However the care and obvious love they had for each other made the uneasiness of this story much more bearable.

I think these covers are the best covers I have seen for a romantic suspense series and I am so glad Ms. Eason is continuing with number four in the series. I hope there is more after that; there are a few more members on the bodyguard team I would like to get to know better. I am highly anticipating Haley’s story next.

I received a copy for free. I was not required to give a positive review and the views and opinions expressed are my own.

The third installment in the Elite Guardian's series did not disappoint but continued the trend of captivating and entertaining the reader. Of course I'm glad because it means the author has not run out of ideas (I'm looking forward to reading the fourth book)
This story featured Maddy, an elite guardian and Quinn a detective who become the next targets of a serial killer. Maddy and Quinn although in high danger never quit and along the way reconciled their feelings for each other. It seemed like there were parts where I wasn't turning the page fast enough, and even had to constrain myself from peeking at the end to alleviate my suspense. Fans of Eason should be pleased with this novel.
