Have My Baby

Rate this book
Have my baby.

That was what my single dad best friend Seth said to me while I was waitressing at the diner.

His little girl wants a sibling. But Seth is a workaholic millionaire and doesn't have time to meet someone.

Someone who won't screw him over, like his kid's mother.

Only problem is this someone has secretly been in love with him since high school. I've been hiding it forever, not wanting to risk our friendship.

Sleeping with him is my biggest fantasy. And I've fantasized plenty, being a virgin. Another thing he doesn't know.

Now I have to make the biggest decision of my life.

Is having a no strings attached affair just to make a baby better than never having him at all?

Author’s note: this case of insta-love and insta-naked-time has been brewing for over a decade. Babymaking has never been so hot…or so funny…or so complicated.

Author’s Note part deux: Have My Baby is a standalone rom com with a romantic HEA ending and no cliffhanger.

3 Have my baby? Stars

Have my baby is my first book by Taryn Quinn and it was an okay read. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it. The sex in this book was smokin' hot and written well. I also love friends to lovers books but I didn't connect to the couple. I didn't feel their relationship. There wasn't a build up it was just assumed they were besties. But I never felt the their bond. I also didn't really understand what the conflict was. I didn't understand why Ally kept running. Nothing was setting her off, no clear problems. It was just like drama for drama's sake. Still it wasn't a bad read. It would have made a great shorter story erotica. But for the lenght of the book I would have like more relationship development.

4 more to this book than the cheesy title suggests stars

First, I would recommend to the author that she change the name of this book because I almost didn't read it believing that it would be an entree of cheesy dialogue with a hearty helping of straight-up smut; when I read some of the reviews with more information about the book, it actually sounded like there was much more to the story than the blurb provided.... And I pleasantly found that to be true!

Seth Hamilton is a prodigal son of the town of Crescent Cove (known previously as Hamilton Cove if that gives any indication of his status in the small upstate NY community), but while he was born with the silver spoon, he was always down to earth with his best friend Ally (Alison Lawrence), which is one of the reasons she has been secretly in love with him since they met on the 2nd day of 10th grade when Seth decided to leave his elitist prep school in Connecticut for a more hometown public school experience. Since Seth could literally have any woman he wanted, Ally always hung in the background, grateful to have him as her bff and not wanting to rock the boat... even when he got a girl he was seeing pregnant and "did the right thing" by her and got married at such a young age. On his wedding day, he asked Ally not to abandon their friendship, and when the marriage fell apart and the ex wife walked out on him and their baby girl (Laurie), Ally was there. She came over in the middle of the night when Laurie had a fever; she was there for Laurie's christening as her godmother; she has cooked meals, watched Care Bears movies (Laurie's fave), given baths, and bandaged boo-boos because she has always adored Laurie... and, yes, Seth. But when Seth walks into the diner where Laurie has been working so hard to keep herself afloat after her mother's long and expensive fight against cancer ended with her passing and presents her with a proposal to have his baby, Ally is speechless around her bff for the first time ever.

Seth would do anything for his little girl, and Laurie wants a little sibling, so who better than to fill that need than the one woman who has always been there for him AND for her: Ally! He knows she would never walk out on them or betray him, and even though he has offered many times to fund Ally's dreams of going to college and help her financially, she has always refused. But what if she had something he wanted and could compensate her for? Great idea, right? Of course it goes over like gangbusters with a shocked Ally who has held a torch for Seth for so many years, she assumes this must be some kind of joke! And when Seth realizes that he might jeopardize their friendship, he backpedals on the contract aspect, but now that he has thought of Ally as a WOMAN, he can't seem to STOP thinking about Ally in that light. He starts looking at her like he'd rather devour HER than anything on the diner's menu, and Ally worries that it might be too good to be true. What if they cross the point of no return and things don't end well? How can she resist wanting to be around a man she already loves and the child she thinks of as her own even without the intimacy added in? And what will Seth's family think of the change in interest he shows in his working class friend?

What I liked:
--- Main characters were both very likeable even when the male mc was dense
--- There were several funny moments (mostly with the interplay between the mcs and their witty banter)
--- More than meets the eye - there was some significant back story happening with both characters, some family and friend involvement/interference, a sweet little toddler thrown in the mix, and a fun relationship progression
--- STEAMY GOODNESS with some delish dirty talk

What I didn't like as much:
--- Seth went from not seeing Ally as anything but a friend to panting after her in 10 seconds flat - it was a little rushed there (or it could at least have been something where HE was always attracted to her but didn't want to ruin the friendship)
--- I get that Ally was taking care of her mother for years, but to believe she was a 28 year old virgin was a BIT of a stretch (though it did make the story hot in the sense of Seth's alpha male reaction and increased possessiveness); along those same lines

Overall, a much better story than I thought with a VERY steamy friends-to-lovers premise that had me quickly turning the pages to see what would happen next!

Plot --- 4/5
Main Characters --- 4/5
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 4/5
Violence --- none
Language --- some
POV --- Dual

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

Every once in a while, I can get caught up in a cover and just decide...must see what this is all about...What got me was the way this man looked at his baby with awe and wonder.... the way he was holding her.

The story has the theme of long time best friends...and one has always loved him...and he, of course, has been blind to her love...Thinking they are just like Bros... but she has "Tits instead of Balls."

We first encounter the main character's relationship in the prologue when Seth is about to get married due to a condom failure. The woman has already shown signs of not being the type of person he would want for the rest of his life.... but he is stoked with the idea of having this baby and a real family.... one that loves each other.

It is here in the side room of the church we see and feel the longing between Seth and Ally, his bestie. She is explaining that things will be different once he is married... that his wife needs to be his best friend now... Seth looks her straight in the eyes and says No...I want you to remain my best friend and that is not going to change.

It is there in those moments we know all along they have been in love with each other but he is an asshat... not realizing what was before him.

We fast forward to the present. Wife, long gone .... Happily bought out to let Seth raise his daughter without her being part of it. Over these years, Ally has been by his side there to assist whenever needed. Laurie his daughter, is the cutest and now is almost 4. She has been begging her dad for a sibling... and Seth has been trying to figure out how to do it for her.

For Seth is a twin and part of an upper-crust family. Their mother left when they were young and the twins hardly saw their father due to his huge real estate company. He was there sometimes... but mainly he would be a no-show at school events and everything else.

This was not what Seth wanted for his daughter. He wanted her to be surrounded by love and care. Right now she was... she had him, her Unca Oliver and Ally...Yes, Ally... the one who was always there whenever he needed her...

Seth thought long and hard about having another baby, a little sister or brother for Laurie. It wasn't a whim...He came up with what he thought was the perfect plan... He will have Ally do it...She had recently lost her mother whom she had been devoted to...her finances are in the sh!tter and she never had the opportunity to go to college as she dreamed of...He will create a contract with Ally being the one he impregnates, she will receive funds for any college she wants...

Seth thinks he is doing Ally a solid...

Ah, Yeah...

Ally has loved Seth from the start...She was a public school girl, has worked at the diner since forever, and knows she was never in Seth's league or even neighborhood. She kept all of her unrequited love for him in lockdown...because the friendship she had for him was too important. Plus she loved Laurie as if she was her own...

When Seth proposes his plan... he thinks he is saying everything that Ally could want...Only his way of saying his proposal comes out icky and not what Ally wants to hear. Seth hasn't a clue and when Ally says he only wants her eggs, he says "oh, no I want to do things the Natural way...the physical way..."

Oh, this ought to be good...

What we get is a friend to lovers story with a side order of dense and dessert of crazy sexy. The sexy parts are yummy... so think of eating dessert first...The dense part is a bit like veggies your mom made you have... you didn't hate them but they weren't what you loved...The real delight of all of it is the way Seth is devoted to his daughter...He has such love and care for her... and she comes across as smart, stubborn, and sweet.

So this has some tasty parts going for it. The cover was truth in advertising... The pic of adoration for the baby held true.

I expected cute, adorable, and silly. It was definitely silly! Adorable... kind of. Laurie was adorable but she was also a very spoiled child. Being a good parent doesn't mean you do everything your 4-year-old kid tells you to do *eye roll* As for cute, well the cover is cute 😍

What this book also was:
🌸 sweet
🌸 predictable
🌸 drama for the sake of drama
🌸 unnecessary angst
🌸 hot sex
🌸 eye-rolling characters

Overall, it was ok to pass the time but nothing else really 🤷‍♀

Though I want to thank my friends Drey and Jade for their luck, it still sucks!
Well, the first book didn't do the magic I just hope rest kf the books in this year don't disappoint me.

The story had all the elements I hate:
Friends to lovers (I kinda beared it here)
Insta love....the guy all of a sudden (after 13 years of friendship) noticed his best friend's breasts?? Like what??

However I must the writing style was okay. The things I liked in this book were:
 Writing style
◾The emotional aspect of the book
Ofcourse .....the cover (which lured me to read this in the first place.

Ok, this was pretty comical. Only a guy can fumble up asking his best friend to let him knock her up by contract. It took almost half the book for Seth to realize how badly his proposal sounded, but it didn't change the fact that he still wanted a baby with Ally. He wants his daughter to have siblings and he can't think of any woman better for providing said siblings. It also opened his eyes to his true feelings for her and unlocked his libido. If she wasn't so skittish and running away all the time, he might actually convince her this was a good idea. Despite their years of being friends only, once Seth started looking at Ally like a woman, his attention to her was pretty hot. Little 4 year old Laurie was adorable and to see Seth be such a good dad to her was even hotter. This was a funny story that turned super cute at the end. This was my first read from this author and I was completely entertained. I will be checking out more books from her. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn have not only mastered writing in tandem so much so that their by line is not Taryn Quinn, but also crafting deliciously touching and steamy stories and the start of a new series is certainly cause for celebration as part of the enjoyment of reading romance novels is getting to know entire families, teams, rock bands or whatever the subgenre may be, find love and happy endings over the development of several books.

Ally and Seth Hamilton have been best friends for over a decade. They’ve been through thick and thin together, through the birth of Seth’s baby girl, the divorce from his money hungry ex, and now his crazy plan to have no strings attached baby making activities with her in order to have another child in exchange for him paying Ally’s college education?

Seth has lost his marbles! How could she ever have a baby with the man she’s loved since she met him and then walk away? Besides, the possibility of him never returning the sentiment terrifies her as does moving out of the friend zone and risk losing both him and his daughter who she loves as her own. But Seth is determined to convince her and while attempting to do so he discovers what’s been in front of him the whole time.

Have My Baby delivers heavy doses of quick wit banter and sexiness where the steamy bits fried my eReader. Though Seth and Ally come from significantly different backgrounds, their deep connection keeps you rooting for them from start to finish. Thought their road to a happy ending dominated the story, the authors populate the tale with charming characters, from Seth’s adorable daughter Laurie, to Ally’s other best friend Sage who is desperately looking for love.

Have My Baby is book #1 of the Dirty DILFs series by Taryn Quinn. It is standalone contemporary romance. Whether you’re a fan of the friends to lovers trope or not, this a story will make you fan yourself and smile. Told from both points of view with a happy fairy tale ending.

It was ok...

I had high hopes for this one because I've read the first two books of the Hammered series also by both Taryn Elliot and Cari Quinn. But I really couldn't like either of these characters.

Seth was a clueless douche-canoe. He got a girl pregnant and then has to marry her when he knows it may affect his relationship with his best friend? In this day and age if someone gets pregnant jumping into marriage isn't always the answer especially when he already knows he doesn't love her. He wants to have sex with Ally for a baby, but doesn't want her to be part of that baby's life and after she has the baby she can go off to college after he pays her. WTF? Does he not know his best friend at all? She would never be able to leave her child and go off to college! And why have sex at all? Just ask her to be a surrogate!!! Or adopt, especially since he doesn't want to have a relationship or get married.

And then there's Ally. I'm not sure about why she keeps running away, except that it shows me what a pretty weak character she is and that she's not heroine material at all. She was making mountains out of molehills. I'm not sure why she couldn't even accept any help financially from Seth...he is her best friend. He could've asked Ally to be his daughter's nanny or babysitter (which she already does) and pay her for it. She could've kept her pride and he would've felt like he was helping her, but no, the that would not have worked with all the OTT drama.

I have to say...two clueless people who are TSTL getting into a relationship...I feel sorry for the kids. I'm hoping the next book with Oliver (Seth's twin brother) and Sage (Ally's best friend) will be a better book with the quality of writing that I know these two good authors can deliver.

Have My Baby is a cheeky, fun, but emotional story of best friends busting down walls and diving into a relationship following a very awkward proposition. Despite the fact these two have been friends since they were sixteen years old, they were in uncharted territory so I loved that as this story unfolded they had some uncomfortable moments, that their relationship changed even when they said it wouldn’t and they had to face and accept that fact, but despite all of that the trust, admiration, and yes, love between them stood strong.

Ally has been Seth’s best friend since the second day of their sophomore year in high school and they’ve been through so much together. When Seth asks Ally to carry his child so he can give his daughter a sibling, he never expected her reaction or the reaction his body was having towards Ally. I’ll admit it was almost comical the way Seth bungled asking Ally to be his baby momma, but the more the thought about it; he had a totally different outlook on the prospect. Meanwhile Ally is freaking out because while Seth has been just fine with their friends only relationship for going on 10 years, Ally has harbored feelings and longed for more. I loved that despite this being a fun and entertaining story, there was a real emotional punch to it as well.

This book was made even better when Oliver, Seth’s twin, not only helps Seth put things in perspective, but helps Ally wade through her emotional soup.

A modern day fairytale that was both sweet and sexy, I loved Have My Baby.

Too much allusion to his past women

There was a lot of good in this book, and there were some sweet moments. The end was great. BUT, the entire book was nearly ruined by all the mentions of his past sex life. Waaay too much. And it is not romantic when they already know each other but at least one is with other people during the time they've known each other. They've been best friends for 13ish years, he's had multiple partners during that time, including a wife, he had a child with his ex-wife, he's told Ally about his hookups throughout their whole friendship, so she's had to hear about women he's slept with for years. That is not something that should be in a romance. That is horrible, absolutely horrible. She mentioned it bothering her. He mentioned being used to having to get women ready for him. How gross is that? He told her that in this book. I am really disgusted by it and so disappointed. This really could have been an amazing book, but romances should not have that kind of stuff in it at all. I am really tired of that, and I'm super tired of virgin/manwhore books. So overdone and gross.

I don't know if I have read any book that it was worse than this. I know its plot is not new and very Harlequinish and I can manage to suspend my belief for the sake of romance time to time. But, but but...

I don't want to be very rude but imo, hero is the most annoying and most insensible character that I've come across. I didn't waste my time much, after a few pages, I stopped reading. That was bad, imo.

Seth and Ally best friends since the 10th grade. Now 13 years later Seth wants Ally to have his baby. His 3 year old daughter Laurie wants a sibling. What? So Seth ask Ally to become mother to his baby. Ally has just lost her mother. She has always been in love with Seth. The Two embark on getting Ally pregnant. Seth soon realizes that he has always been in love with Ally.

I had trouble with Seth doing what a 3/4 year old Laurie wanted him to. This little girl ruled the nest. I felt the story revolved to much around Laurie and not enough of a romance between Seth and Ally. The banter between Seth and Ally was good. There was a great relationship between Ally and Laurie they genuinely loved each other. The ending was ridiculous Halloween scenario. It should have revolved around Ally being pregnant and her having delivering there baby boy and them growing into a family with little Laurie. But no it was all about taking Laurie trick a treating.

I'm actually reading the compilation "Santa Baby" with the 4 books in this series but I thought it would be better to review each book as I finish it.

This first book was a bit different than I thought it would be and at first it kind of got me the wrong way with how Seth was handling everything with Ally. But it started to make sense as we learned his back story.

Plus, I'm always a sucker for an OTT HEA!

Off to read Oliver and Sage's story.

Unapologetically romantic, funny and sexy, I loved this gorgeous friends to lovers story. From the title and blurb I wasn't expecting all the feels from this book but it delivered them in spades.

The friendships between all the characters was great fun and Ally's best friend was a hoot. I've even got a soft spot for Seth's twin brother, who mostly comes across as grumpy. There's definitely more to him than meets the eye. Seth's daughter Laurie was delightful, a little sweetheart, and her innocent remarks had me in fits. Feisty and determined, I thought her character was written perfectly.

Having hidden their feelings from each other for so long, once they give in to their desires, things move quickly between Seth and Ally and I loved the hot and erotic moments that these authors write so well.

As well as fun and laughter, there are definitely some poignant moments, which hit me in the heart. Wonderfully written, I felt the pain of Ally's loss and those instances had me tearing up and sniffing into my tissues.

Seth's declaration of love was so sweet and the Epilogue gave us a gorgeous conclusion to this fun romance.

Have My Baby was a sweet and sexy friends to lovers story, in spite of the silly title. Both characters acted like clueless morons most of the time, and the "have my baby" premise was rather ridiculous, part fantasy but also ludicrous. Yet I was entertained by it all and it worked for me as a fun quick read. This series appears to now be called Crescent Cove, but was originally Dirty DILF's, so that says it all right there. 3.5 stars. I have several more in series at the ready - will make for great poolside reading.

Holy exploding ovaries!

Did you see that cover? Lawd, after the first glance I needed a moment or ten for my heart and parts south to stop fluttering.

After getting us wound up with the famazing cover, Taryn Quinn doubles down with a sexy, doting, single father to an adorable 4 yr. old girl; a down-to-earth heroine who’s been his BFF since high school; and a fun and surprisingly emotional story. Despite making me tear up a few times, it has a lighter feel than the normal TQ story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I adored the heroine from her first appearance. She’s a straight shooter with a soft heart who let the hero get away with very little. He’s hot, devoted to those he loves, but sometimes a typical male whose cluelessness causes unnecessary angst. Once they give in to the chemistry that’s been simmering for over a decade, things heat up quickly and often. They quickly make up for lost time, and it’s incredibly erotic.

The heroine’s best friend is an absolute riot, and the hero’s twin brother grumpily sexy. They’re less than fond of each other, so their snarkiness adds a real punch to the story. I can only hope we see these two again, together or with other partners.

Having My Baby definitely has all sorts of feels, but what I loved most was the banter between the characters, both main and secondary. It was clever & snarky, and I hope Taryn Quinn has more stories like this in store for us soon.

It was a decent read. Maybe I was not in the right mood for a silly romantic story with repetitive reasons why the relationship could not stand. Yet, it had some sweet moments, especially with a little Laurie, a sweet child most of the time.

Next time, I'll be in for a light read, I'll probably return and give a chance to the second book in this series.

I'm such an unabashed Taryn Quinn fangirl, it's just a dream come true to read and review their books. And this one was quite the treat. I. LOVED. THESE. CHARACTERS.

Ally (great name btw) is smart, funny, and a fantastic role model for Seth's daughter. (we'll get to them in a moment). She's been through good times and bad with him, and definitely has all the feels - but when he ever-so-nonchalantly asks her to have his baby - she's a bit gobsmacked.

Seth knows Ally would be a great mother to his daughter's sibling. She's already a surrogate to Laurie, and nothing like his ex, which is one of the best qualities EVER. They've known each other all their lives, and taking this step won't shake their firm foundation - right?

Laurie wants a sister. Bad. She loves her Daddy and her Mommy, and she definitely loves Ally. She likes it when Ally comes over and helps her with her bathtimes, because BOYS ARE NOT ALLOWED! She's started having sleepovers with Daddy, and she even saw them kissing once. Hopefully she'll talk to him about getting a sister.

“You can’t make a move like this based on the whims of a three-year-old. It’s not logical. She wants a puppy too. Is that next?

I was engrossed from beginning to end, and it might be one of my favorite happy reads.

I give it five "empty bubble bath bottle" stars.

Seth and Ally have been friends since High School. But now that his 3 year old daughter has been pressuring him for a sibling, he proposes a a deal in order for Ally to finally go to college.

Ally's spent her childhood and adulthood taking care of her ailing parent. Now that her mother has passed, she's sold her home and has a future for herself. She's also been secretly in love with Seth since the day she met him. Knowing she's not his type, she's been relegated to BFF and a surrogate mother to his daughter.

Seth knows his proposal is a little strange, but the only way he can be sure that he won't have another child with a woman who is only in it for the money, is by asking his best friend. As time goes on, he starts to show Ally that he's actually attracted to her. He truly wants to be with her.

Ally has almost no experience with men and doesn't see all the signs from Seth that show he wants to be more than friends.

With the help of Seth's twin brother, Oliver and her other best friend, Sage, they soon come to understand that they have always loved each other. Now there is nothing keeping them apart, but themselves.

I thought it was a sweet story, but not a rom-com at all to me. I don't know if it was the narrators, or what, but the story seemed a little stilted.

I still don't understand why Seth and Oliver's father is so mean to Ally, yet so nice to Sage. I just don't get his damage. But I do like it enough to go to the next story about Oliver and Sage.

LOVED IT! You get all the emotions and turmoil. You might also want to yell at them to get their heads out of their asses. I know I did.
Seth wants another but doesn't want to get screwed over by the mother. You see he's already has a daughter and her mother would rather spend his money then take care of their daughter, so he paid his way out of the marriage and kept his daughter, Laurie. I had to DNF at 20%. Hear me out. I get that perhaps the book gets better, however, I could not get past Laurie. She’s a little girl, 4 yrs old, actually more like 3 almost 4. First of all, her speech is way beyond what a normal child at that age sounds like. If the author needed her to sound older, then she should have made her older. But then, in direct contrast to that, she behaves like a kid going through the terrible two’s. I found her annoying, bratty, and just spoiled. That leads me to the rest of the book - up to that 20% mark.

So the only reason Seth wants another baby is because Laurie is asking for it ??? And not only that, but he basically wants to turn his best friend aka Ally into the kind of person Laurie’s mom was ? Isn’t that one of the reasons they’re divorced to begging with ? And if he thinks Ally is so much better than his ex, how could he possibly expect her to have this baby with him, and essentially sell it ? Oh sure, she could be as involved as she wants, but the baby would basically be HIS, since he’s paying for it and all. I’m seriously at a loss here. He’s got money, why not just use donor eggs and a surrogate ? Oh right, there wouldn’t be a book otherwise. But you see what I mean right ?

**MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Seth doesn't mind speaking his thoughts, “I’d be fine with you breastfeeding our child. Seth's daughter was just too cute, “you have red marks all over. Did Daddy play tickle monster with you? Seth snorted and covered his laugh by turning toward the bacon on the stove." I really enjoyed this book, I loved the characters.

An okay read. As usual, don’t rate novellas, but if i were, this would get 1-2 stars. Like 4 smut scenes and lots of annoying drama and baby talk. “Pweaasse I HATE when authors do this.

The couple: Seth and Ally

Romance trope: friends to lovers
Series: Crescent Cove
Length: 288 pages

Plot: Seth and Ally have been best friends since high school, but things change when Seth gets his date pregnant and so decides to get married - but not for long. The marriage didn't stick and single dad Seth is left to raise his daughter alone. But Ally is always there for both of them. She's always had a crush on Seth but knew better than to make a move on the known player. But lately Seth has been looking at Ally in a different way and with his biological clock ticking, they'll all have some tough decisions to make.

Commentary: This is a bit of a smutty rom-com friends-to-lovers story. I like this author's writing and enjoyed the pacing of the story. Seth was a bit clueless - I think that came from growing up privileged and sheltered and spoiled and having a dad who was so strident about how all women are terrible. But between Ally and her friend and Seth's brother, they got him settled. The little girl was adorable (if a little advanced for a 4-year-old). I'll definitely keep reading the series.

Blurb:

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Have my baby is one of the best romances I've read in a while.
I loved Ally and Seth. I loved the chemistry and friendship between them. This story has all the elements we love ~ A sexy Male lead, Beautiful female lead and sizzling chemistry between them. Bonus: There's also a cute little kid.
I loved Sage and Oliver too! The only character in the story I didn't really get was Seth's dad. I wish his backstory was written a little better.
I'll definitely check out more from this author.
