Several years ago I went through a steampunk fantasy phase. I came across the first two books in this series in my book recommendations feed on Amazon. I read and loved them back in 2012. Of course, book two ends on a cliffhanger and I've been waiting on the conclusion ever since. This didn't disappoint. Whereas the first two books primarily follow Elizabeth and William, this one wraps up with Maxwell's story. We get his background fairly quickly and there are only two chapters where we retread events of the previous books, but it's only to the extent necessary to bridge the gap. Then we're off to the races--to the future, the further future, back to past, future again to the darkest timeline, and back to the past once more. There's a lot more going on here than in previous books and it feels more alternate history than steampunk, but it's still a lot of fun so that's alright.

Good book. I personally thought the first 2 of the series were better. But I still enjoyed it.

I was prepared not to like this book as much as the first two, being as it's about Maxwell rather than Elizabeth and William (he's just not my favorite character), but ultimately, it may be the strongest of the three. It starts before the beginning of book one--when Maxwell first receives the watch--and proceeds through many events of the first two books (significantly more glossed over, as we know how they go; getting past them around page 100), and then carries on where book 2 left off, as Maxwell and Schwieger get sucked out of the 1885 timeline. And then we finally get the answers the first two books had no chance of explaining.

Katarina (or rather, multiple iterations of her) features more prominently in this book than the other two, which I greatly enjoyed; she's a force to be reckoned with, whichever timeline she is in, but her final iteration, in my opinion, is ultimately her best. I like how the author works in her sense of loss, meeting the time travelers for the 4th? time, having such a shared history with them, yet . . . not. While it was a version of her, it wasn't her. It's not like she has memory loss--these things simply have never happened. She's similar, but a different person.

And there's a really cool aspect of WWII included that I'd never heard of before, but now with the author highlighting it, I had to look up. Great way to work genuine history into a time travel story!

Again, it could have used one more pass by an editor (I noticed one error, anyway), but it's a highly enjoyable series of books that I'd safely recommend to teens and adults alike.

The "Timebound" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Heather Albano (). Ms. Albano has published three novels with this being the third book in her "Keeping Time" series.Ìý

I received an ARC of this novel through in return for a fair and honest review. I categorize this novel as ‘Râ€ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set across the last few centuries. This time the primary character is Maxwell Carrington.Ìý

Carrington has been separated from the other time travelers. Inadvertently one of the time travel watches is found by agents of Nazi Germany. This adds an additional layer of difficulty to Carrington and his colleagues. They struggle to set the timeline back to what it should be.Ìý

I thoroughly enjoyed the 11.5 hours I spent reading this 200-page steampunk science fiction tale. I have enjoyed all three novels in this series, but I think that this is the best of the three. I think that the author did a good job of concluding the trilogy. Definitely, I would recommend reading the first two books of the trilogy before this one. The chosen cover art is OK, but something closer to the plot would have been better in my opinion. I give this novel a 5 out of 5.

Just finished the trilogy, awesome story. The first book gets hooked, the second whets your appetite and the third one brings it all together. With multiple overlaying timelines you actually get nervous about the ending and makes you question odd unexplained events in real history.

The last of the trilogy follows Maxwell as he is yanked out of 1885 London to Norway and the Nazis. This book takes a bit at the beginning to summarize the events in the first two books because of the 6 year gap in publication and the cliff-hanger ending of book two. William and Elizabeth are the main focus of the first two, but this was Maxwell’s story with a large portion concerning Katerina’s persona. I think this was a much meatier story dealing with more mature characters. Of course, due to the fixes made to the earlier timelines this proceeds in a different way. All things get straightened out eventually and the ending tying up of the threads was satisfying.
