Mail Order Mounties #4

RNWMP: Bride for Joel

Rate this book
Evelyn Murray, daughter of Inspector Harold Murray and sister of four constables, has always known that she would never marry anyone but a Mountie. No other man could possibly compare to those tall, strong, noble men in red serge. When matchmaker Hazel Hughes approaches her about traveling to a tiny place called Squirrel Ridge Junction to marry Corporal Joel Clark, she leaps at the chance, believing that he’ll be the man of her dreams.

Joel Clark never thought much about marriage until his friend Theodore Hughes found himself a bride . . . er, until a bride was found for him. Suddenly, he realizes that a wife might make his life a little sweeter, and he agrees to be matched up with a young lady Miss Hazel finds suitable. When Evelyn Murray arrives on the scene, however, he knows he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

It’s going to take one wily old lady and one slow old moose to bring these two to their senses before that train heads back to Ottawa

Amelia C. Adams

Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.

She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.

Evelyn is the daughter of a retired Inspector with the Mountie and her four brothers are all mounties. She adores them all lovers her country. She would be a great match for Joel who is over a few men. But can he be good enough?

Joel is not sure about a wife until Evelyn walks into the office while he is doing paperwork. He realizes she is a head strong woman and he is a headstrong man can these two make this work? He has a lot of courting and make up to do before Evelyn will give him the time of day.

This was a hoot with Monty again bringing theses two together and an cold couple the Timmons. Joel was nice to see come out of his shell and not be so uptight. Another great book in the series.

I am not sure why I decided to pick RNWMP: Bride for Joel. Maybe it was the promise of a moose, who knows but it turned out to be a pretty good choice even if it was a bit tame compared to what I usually read. I had a really good laugh thanks to the kooky characters, especially Mr. and Mrs Timmons, whom I am sure could hear very well when they chose too. I understand Evelyn’s position but I also got Joel’s (I really wanted to nickname him Dudley Do-Right) position but it was a pity they couldn’t stop talking around each other long enough to talk to each other and actually hear what the other was saying; but it was hilarious.

I have thought really hard about what I didn’t like about this story and there really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about RNWMP: Bride for Joel. The characters were heartwarming, funny and sweet as well as easy to connect with. It was truly well worth my time and energy to read the awesome story and it really deserves the five-star rating I am giving it. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

A sweet read with lots of human interest.

This is the first book written by Ms Adams that I've read. It was a very good read, with many interesting details. I loved the insertion of a town moose into the narrative, as well as seeing the young couples find their way to marriage in the NW Territories. Realizing that marriage isn't just something that turns to happily ever after but requires honesty and understanding is not something that occurs to many people, the Mounties and their brides included. Seeing some of the hardships endured these enterprising young patriots was just one part of a very well thought out narrative.
I received this book through a multiple giveaway, and am offering my review in hopes someone else will take the time to try it. You won't regret it. Thanks for a very good read, Ms Adams.

Another wonderful love story in the series of Canadian version of mail order brides! I am loving this series more and more with each episode. This amazingly talented group of authors certainly know how to band together and create not only the stories, but maintain the consistency of a budding town. Oh! And lets not forget Monty! He is certainly becoming the "glue that holds it all together". A wonderful addition to make the series unforgettable.
In this episode, we get to enjoy the blossoming love between Joel and Evelyn. Though they experience many turbulent times, trying to find solid and shared ground on which to build their relationship, they manage to stumble along their way to what promises to be a strong love, if only they can give it a chance. Loved it!

Very sweet!

A gentle story, a few moments of Life's problems and law-abiding difficulties, but softly handled, and altogether charming. For me, this brought a longing for a slower-paced daily life, one in which money was not so important as the basic necessities of life, the fulfillment of which are met by hunting, growing food, canning it, and sharing Life's joys and problems with friends and neighbors. It seems to me these days that we have lost the closeness we once shared and needed to have with our neighbors even just to survive, thus losing something valuable and irreplaceable, so this sweet read made me nostalgic for a simpler time...

Such A Sweet, Loving Couple

I really enjoyed reading this book. Evelyn traveled across Canada to be a mail order bride for a mounties (a member of the RNWMP) which essentially acted as police in the north-west part of Canada. Her father and brothers were all mounties and her greatest wish was to marry a mounties since women could not serve as mounties. This book is the story of the problems faced in marrying someone you do not know. Evelyn lived with an elderly couple while she and Joel got to know each other. Read this book to learn about the problems they faced and their solutions.

Mail Order Mounties

Let me start by saying that if the author is Amelia Adams, I'm going to read it. So glad to see that she is adding her spin to this series. Ms. Hazel's 4th attempt at matchmaking takes some rocky turns as two strong willed people struggle to come to an understanding about true love and compromise. Joel is a by the book Mountie through and through. Evelyn knows all about being a Mountie. After all, she comes from a family of Mounties. Will a disaster bring them together or end their match for good?
Great read.

Happy Wives

I’m not much for romantic stories, yet this series of Brides has its appeal. I love the lovable moose in this story. Joel Clark and Hazel start off on the wrong footing so will they ever get married? That is the question and theme of the book. Sometimes a book you are about to read, you already know the ending yet it’s the journey that makes it good. That’s what I found in reading this book. The moose is a hoot!

Joel

Amelia Adams has brought us the next installment in our Mountie books. Things do not get off to a great start for Joel and Evelyn. Miscommunication leads to hurt feelings and some soul searching before they are ready to love. Another great read with a little excitement with Monty.

Skirts are great for hiding pistols!

Can these two stop arguing long enough to realize they love each other? Nothing that is said by either one of them comes out right in the beginning. And that kinda sets a tone for our lady love. It was a very humorous and sweet book. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Mail Order Mounties #4. I have loved this series from the start. Evelyn is set to marry Joel. Not happy that he didn't meet her at the train station, they start out on the wrong foot. Since they didn't marry, she sticks around. Having brothers as fellow Mounties, she thought she would be up for knowing all that comes with the job. Ha! Will she learn not to be so bullheaded?

Evelyn and Joel's story

I have always enjoyed tales about the Mountie, and this story did not disappoint. A tale that was excellently weaved with kindness, compassion, romance and historical details. With the plot moving to keep me reading until the very end. Great job! Thanks again for such a great read. I am hoping for many more from this awesome author!

Delightful story of a Bride for a Mounties!

Amelia Adams writes an engaging story of mishaps between a Bride-to-be and a Mountie. The characters are so very likeable including Mounty the Moose. It was very difficult to put down this book. I am sure that you will enjoy this book as much as I did. Happy reading!
