Social Worker Sadey Collins has been investigating abuse and neglect cases for Child Protective Services on a daily basis for over 3 years. However, her latest case is tearing at her heart strings. While helping a 10-year-old girl, who reminds her of herself, deal with her mother’s drug problems, the girl in turn helps Sadey deal with her own childhood issues revolving around her father’s drug use and subsequent incarceration. While Sadey struggles to do right by the family she is investigating, she must also deal with her own family issues and stay alive in the process. When she manages to anger a local drug dealer, she is introduced to her best friend’s soon to be brother-in-law, who graciously jumps in to keep her safe; but can she keep herself from getting too comfortable or will he be just another intrusion attempting to force Sadey to deal with her feelings and emotions? Sadey must juggle an extremely full caseload with the emotional roller coaster that just entered her life. She does it all under the watchful eye of her 90 lb. hound dog, Bones, whose ability to always leave a trail of drool in his wake and create his own chaos, actually has her questioning whether or not his crazy antics are really creating more problems in her life, or offering her a better solution to her difficulties
I live in the mountains of West Virginia with my husband of 32 years. We have three children and five grandchildren. I've been an avid reader my entire life, but I just recently joined the writing world when I decided to try my hand at a romance novel. I am currently writing the eighth book in my series and I've found that I love writing as much as I love reading. I hope you enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them.
This was an emotional book for me but truly enjoyed reading it it is a book that needs to be read all at once cause there is a lot of stuff you wanna make sure you do not miss the author has the character so believable in the story loving the plot and storyline
Very enjoyable read with some hairy situations to amp up the adrenaline. Would recommend to a friend and am looking forward to picking up the next in the series!
Broken Promises is the first book in the CPS series by Christy Wilson. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down once you start it. In this book, we meet Sadey, a dedicated social worker, who buries herself in her job and wants to make a difference in all of the families she investigates. In her newest case, she meets a little girl whose story hits way to close to home for her. She soon finds herself the target of a drug dealer who is not thrilled that she is sticking her nose into his business. Her best friend, her husband, and his brother, Chase, all try to help keep her safe. Chase feels drawn to protect her and this leads to feelings that neither one of them were expecting. This story has lots of action, twists, and turns. As soon as Sadey thinks she is in the clear, something else happens that changes the trajectory of her story. This book is great to read in an afternoon and has a little bit of everything thrown in their to keep it exciting!
