I'm not sure where this series is going anymore, besides making Cass and Poppy ending up together ever since Godric was killed off, for reasons that are still unknown/don't make sense. Why even write his character in the first place if his death doesn't seem to affect anyone anymore? This book, like the rest in the series, is incredibly short, which means no time for character and world development. The main characters meet, want each other, have sex, the end. There was so much potential in the first book, which I LOVED, and I am so sad that all the characters have turned out flat and unimaginative.

I feel like I read a different book than the rest of all the 4-&-5-star ratings. 😞Sorry to the fans.

I don't know what's happening to this series but ever since Godric was killed in book 3, I feel like the last book and this one were filler, transition pieces until we finally get to (maybe?) Cass's book. Because, honestly, this, to me, feels like it was a "lets-get-it-done" chore --- rushed... or even botched ... I'm not explaining myself well... just not smooth in terms of pacing and plot development. Maybe it'll all make sense in the end? *shrugs* Sigh.

How I wish there was more meat and depth about the MC's love story because the scenes/interactions between Wolfe and Noelle were pretty engaging. But as it reads, imo, Wolfe and Noelle were the secondary characters while the real MC's of this book were actually Poppy and Cass and even Joshua. That's not so bad per se --- but I couldn't help but think "Why do I have to read this then? Just give me Poppy and Cass's book already"

This might be harsh but I always believe in keeping my reviews real and honest. I'm glad this one was available on KU bec if I had shelled out my $$ to buy this book, I'd feel really bad right now.

I’m not sure I’ll continue to follow this series. After the first two books in the series it all went downhill. The couples have lacked chemistry & depth. I’m also not a fan of the MCs failing to see the obvious. 2 stars

—————spoilers below——
The only thing of importance that happened in this book was Cass died. His cause of death was friendly fire. (His father shot him.) He was later resurrected by Poppy facilitated by a spell given to her by Joseph. As a result of said spell Cass gained his life back & Poppy has reverted back to a human likely losing her immortality.

I suspect cass & Poppy are mates. & sooo.... As they finally give in & have sex it’ll solve Poppy’s lack of immortality. Also can someone admit the puppet master isn’t Joseph already? Why are such capable & intelligent characters not seeing the obvious? The eye rolling is truly getting dire for us readers. 😑

Trap hadn't managed to enchant me. Maybe it was because the main couple was basically playing second fiddle the whole time or because I felt no chemistry between them, maybe it was too long since I've read previous books. Who knows...

Meh

It was an ok read. Nothing special. Not sure if I'm going to continue reading the series as not much was revealed in this book. It was more of a fluff book. Honestly felt !like a rushed job.

I LOVE this series! Trap had me by the end of the first paragraph, and wouldn't turn me loose until 3:00 am. Wolfe has been one of the most enigmatic of the shifters, and he couldn't have found a better partner. How hilarious was it to find his mate is the woman he's choking her to unconsciousness! I love the appearances of the other characters in the series, and their ongoing stories. I truly love Poppy, as well. Her continuing story keeps me hoping for at least one more book of her and her two loves.

Damn. Wolfe may not be the best at communicating, but he’s damn fiery when he’s in bed.

This book was a little bit of a roller coaster.
I didn’t really like the FMC to begin with. She was just honestly acting stupid, and greedy.
And then when Wolfe found her she kept acting stupid and everyone hated her.
I did start to like her as we got to see her personality a bit more, but the beginning was a bit rough.

And then shit went down in the background that was traumatic and a bit confusing and then happy again and then again it was confusing. So there wasn’t just one roller coaster in this theme park.

But I did have a good time.
I really like the humor woven throughout. And Wolfe is hot as hell.

I’m really looking forward to Theron’s book.
Hopefully it also has answers about Poppy.

This is supposed to be Noelle and Wolf's story, but I was more interested in Cass and Poppy! Poppy had to make a terrible choice!

This was a good fast read...But it still leaves you wondering what is going on...Can we get more answers about this puppet master and his hold on Joshua....So now that Poppy saved Cassander does this mean that they will try to mate only to have Godric some how rise from the dead...Just have to wait for the next book....

I love this series! When I saw the pre-order for this book, I didn't even think twice before ordering. I was pulled into this series with the first book, but continue to devour each book since. I love the characters, the individual story as well as the story that connects them all. Noelle and Wolfe just added to my love for this series. Wolfe, the techie, is sometimes a little awkward and a tad too direct sometimes, but he fits perfectly with Noelle, hacker extraordinaire. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for the next book.

Trap

Always a great read with this series. Always something new and exciting going on. I was super excited that I was finally able to sit down and enjoy it without anyone bugging me lol.

It’s been a long two years since released and left me hanging. Seeing that the series was finally continuing, I was so excited! Trap is the fifth book in Origin, but it was so different and not at all what I’ve come to expect from Scarlett Dawn. The storyline and pacing were rushed, and the characters fell flat which makes me sad. I’ve loved the series up to this point.

Noelle Harvey is the least likable character to come so far in Origin. She’s horrible! A tabloid journalist who works for Karma and has ties to the big bad of the series, Noelle got on my nerves. The book starts with an exposé on shifters that she releases to the world, not thinking of the consequences. Obviously things spiral for her quickly. Yet I got to hand it to her, girl has guts. She doesn’t bow down to any of the men we’ve met so far, she even gives Poppy a run for her money.

Wolfe Cooper is the love interest in this installment. I love Wolfe. He’s introverted and likes (understatement!) technology. In fact, his corporation runs most everything. Awkwardly honest he reminds me of people with Asperger’s Wolfe softens Noelle some. He’s a good counterbalance to her character at the very least.

I really struggled to follow the plot in Trap. Even with my dislike of Noelle and love of Wolfe, I struggled. There were big holes in events (like how did you get from point A to point B holes) and the pacing fluctuated from breakneck speed to slower than a turtle. It was distracting, and I couldn’t keep up.

Overall, Trap was an okay read for me. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it. I’m questioning whether I will continue the series now, which makes me sad. That said, the next book in the series is Theron’s who I’ve been waiting to read since the series started soooo I’ll be reading 😉 If you enjoy paranormal romance with a splash of dystopia, I recommend starting the series from the beginning. While each book is a standalone romance, the overall plot of the series reaches through all the books.

Trap is a book that will keep you on your toes. Scarlett Dawn has a talent with words that
Makes you feel as though you are living in the scenes right along with the characters. She
Is truly one of the best authors I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Of the series, this is a bit of a disappointment

When I started this series I was impressed, having read other short books by the author. The first three books I enjoyed, the fourth was fair, and this one, I hate to say this, however having read the others, it doesn't read like the authors writing. Add to that, in the other books the sex scenes have been sexy, yet not over done. Not so in this one. There were two scenes and they, to me it seemed they were drawn out for filler, especially the last one. The story/plot makes for good reading. The friendship between the shifter leaders makes the story. That and the way they realise who their mate is, and how well they treat them. In spite of my earlier comments about this book, I would recommend this series, and I am looking forward to the next two books.

This story..... requires patience.... otherwise you'd want to murder Scarlett Dawn before you realise you don't have to.
I would have loved to see more of Cassander's and Poppy's story unfold and all around more depth, but the Origin series is pretty much a series of novellas. They all run short, but are sweet, funny, sexy and witty.

This was super short and nothing really happened. It seemed like this book was just setting the stage for Poppy and Cassander. I'm willing to bet that it's possible for Poppy to mate with Cassander now though after that magic mumbo jumbo.

The only Scarlett Dawn book I haven't given 5 stars.

I enjoyed this book as I do with every SD book, however, I can say that it has been my least favorite so far.

I thought the book was far too short, and lacked a lot of depth. Noelle and Wolfe's story was almost nonexistent in comparison with some of the others. This book seemed so much like a filler book, just biding time until the next one, and I'm disappointed because I think Noelle and Wolfe's story could have so much better.

I do like that SD keeps hinting at the other relationships in the background like Poppy/Cass and Theron/Elara, but I wish she hadn't done that to the detriment of the MCs in this one. If you take the quality of Book 1 in the Origin series and compare it to Trap, it's like night and day. Most of the others have included a build-up of the characters, some background info, action, and relationship conflict, for example, a mate trying to come to terms with the existence of Shifters. Poppy's story in Book 1 had so much depth and an appropriate foundation for her and Godric's relationship, I was hooked on the series immediately. In this book, however, Noelle discovers the Shifters, doesn't question it or really war with it, writes her article, meets all the Shifters, the next day she's in love and moving in with her mate.

I'm not writing this to discourage readers, because I love the series as a whole and the premise of it, but I have my fingers crossed that Scarlett will come through just a bit better in the next book in the series.

It’s a Trap😀

Noelle is a hacker and tries to bring information, as much as she can to the public, via her dark website. An encounter with an old acquaintance brings someone new to her play field and this someone is darker than even she could have imagined. The information puts her in danger on the radar of those she’s trying to expose....until someone gives her the story with more perspective. Wolfe is also a hacker extraordinaire and he quickly gets things under wraps.....but he makes a startling discovery❣️

I feel like I’ve waited for this book forever and even though it’s a great story, I feel it falls short to what my expectations were. Firstly, it is grossly shorter than the previous four books and secondly, other than some extra information I don’t feel like we advanced on any of the questions we had from the previously published books or getting to the end of what’s actually happening. So I’ve given a rating of four stars just purely due to my disappointment in the story length and overall story....I’m hoping for more with the next one.

I was so glad to see Trap was finally released, have been waiting for some time for the next book in this series. I did enjoy the characters, wished more time had been spent expanding on the relationship with Wolfe & Noelle.
Just about the time I was getting into the book it was done, that was a shock. I was hoping since it had taken so long to get this one out that it would be a full length book, but seems to be more of a novella. Hoping the next book will deliver like the previous books have. This is the first series by this author I have read, considering if I want to continue into her others is this is what happens? Hope not, this one started out so great! Please keep writing on this one so we get a great finish Scarlett.
Thanks

Rereading in preparation for book 6

This like so many of the authors series is one of my favorites. Book 6, “Tease, is about to be released in June which will bring to light what Theron as an Ancient and shifter actually is. We still do not have any idea who the Puppet Master is or if in fact someone else other than Joshua Striker is causing all the mayhem for our favorite characters.

I believe book 6 is suppose to be the finale for the series so I can’t wait to see what happens on June 10th.

This was a good read I mean I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. For how long we waited for the next book in this series I was expecting something spectacular to happen. Definitely not one of my favorites in the series I still have so many unanswered questions. I did however like seeing the previous couples from the series. I'll guess I have to wait and see what else is in store for this series.

I waited for this

I really like this series. And the release date for this book had been pushed back many times. This book was easy and had no depth. They didn't give us any new information. Poppy is given the choice between her husband and his brother. We don't learn any more about Mr. Valentine. And Wolfe's mate messes up bad but everyone just forgives her. This book is a dismal addtion to a good series.

Waited on this book a while and was not disappointed. There are some real suspenseful, tense moments in this one. The villain finally makes his presence known and there’s a name to go with him. There is a lot of action that takes place within the pages of this book that sneak up on you. You don’t even notice until you mentally review what all has transpired with/to these characters. It was another good read and I look forward to the next (maybe last) chapter to the Origin Series.

Must read!

I loved this book, just like I do all of Scarlett's books! There's a few character updates and I'm extremely thankful for that. We still have the primary mate match but it's awesome to see how the gang is while trying to anticipate (good luck to us) where the series is going. Definitely a must read and well worth the wait!

Where is this going?

I liked the couple in this story! Awkward yet sexy and both super skilled in technology.
The repeated appearances of Joshua were confusing, he is a dark seer that does bad things but then helps out too.
Punctuation and other grammatical errors.

Of course, I read anything this woman puts out and she didnt dissapoint! But she has my mind working on where everything is going for future books! Really enjoyed the book, I just wish it was longer!! I want a 1,000 page book for all of her books because I enjoy everything Scarlett writes and dont want them to end!

Lost its way

I feel like this series has lost its way. A lot potential with some great characters but no depth and poppy especially has lost who she was in book 1 to what she is now. I think it's fair to say no more for me but I did enjoy the first book and the potential of the series orignally.

This story is a so good I wanted more, loved the Twist and turns in the story. Very steamy and hot. Couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next one. It keeps you guessing . Who is the the puppet master. The connection between Wolfe and Noelle so good. I starting at the beginning, you won't regret it!

Trap...

Origin book 5. No spoilers from me. Wolfe story in full effect. This book had me from one extreme to the next. I think I cried the first couple of chapters. So many WTF twists and turns. Although you're prepared to be surprised you won't be ready for the craziness. Passionate, dramatic and Hella twisty. Well worth the wait.
