The Protection, Inc. series has shown a wide variety in types of stories in only three books so far. This one leads to a government conspiracy to make super-soldier shifters. Former Air Force Pararescueman Shane Garrity wasn't born a shifter like his colleagues at Protection, Inc. His military team was kidnapped and forced into the transformation by a shadowy company that will stop at anything to get Shane back. While fleeing their capture, he runs into paramedic Catalina Mendez (who, ironically, is his boss's mate's BFF). Catalina gets taken along with him for their fiendish experiments.

This story is more action, and less romance, but it's still got enough of each to balance out. Shane and Catalina have great chemistry, and the twist in the story is completely unexpected yet altogether wonderful. This is a great addition to the series.

Felt a bit bored in some parts. I did love the connection between Catalina and Shane, and his panther. The end was hilarious.

This book on Amazon currently has 58 reviews and an overall rating of 4.8 stars. That’s what made me give this one a chance. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say, I am in the minority on this one. I didn’t like it at all. It did have potential and it really could have been good. The extreme insta-love, combined with the predictable plot and characters was a deal breaker for me. I'll likely try this writer again, but not this series. I am grateful that it was offered as a kindleunlimited.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

This cover is definitely beautiful with both forms looking gorgeous!

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is my favorite of the series so far. This series is for adults only due to the steamy content. I highly recommend reading all the books in order to get the full experience and character building! You will miss out by not doing so!

The action started on the first page and never stopped. I wasn’t sure I would like Shane because he seemed off-putting in the other books. This was definitely not an issue. Shane is a rock star and one of my favs. I knew I like Catalina from the first book with Ellie because they are both pretty cool. Catalina is like a superhero from the beginning and awesome. I loved every second of this book! I don’t want to give anything away, so you need to read it to see what happens.

I love Zoe Chant’s books because they always have action and romance that just makes me happy. I’m a sap for a happy ending!

I highly recommend this book and the whole series to all the shifter fans especially if you already love Zoe’s books! If you have tried reading any of her books, you need to because you won’t be disappointed.

This was my favorite in the series so far. I adored Shane who was troubled and torn, but who would die for his mate and his comrades. I liked Catalina although thought she jumped onto the "shifter" bandwagon a little too easily. A fun, steamy read especially if you like cats.

Good

I enjoyed this book. Finding out more about Shane with his weird fear thing and about how he met Hal. And Catalina is such a strong female character. I especially enjoyed Shane’s conversations with his panther.

Paramedic, Catalina Mendez, has just arrived back in America after serving in a earthquake stricken country. She's reluctant to go back to her empty apartment so gets out to walk by Protection, Inc which she knows is run by her best friend's boyfriend. While walking she sees an injured man coming out of the alley and sets out to help him even though he doesn't seem to want it. That ends up with both of them being taken prisoner by a black ops agency where the head doctor is trying to make the perfect predator.

This was an enjoyable read with some characters you'll love and others you'll hate. I recommend this book and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

This is a fast paced, action packed story about an evil organization who experiment on humans and shifters. Catalina finds herself kidnapped after trying to help a wounded man named Shane. As a paramedic, she always helps anyone who needs it. They find themselves in the hands of an evil scientist and, for Shane, it is not the first time. But Shane comes to realize Catalina is his mate and he would do anything to protect her. Catalina falls in love with Shane and they vow together to get out of the clutches of the evil scientist. It ends with a happy ending for them.

Major Spoilers....
I liked this one and was looking forward to Shane's story as the glimpses of him in the previous books had intrigued me.
The whole he was wasn't born a shifter but was made into one took me by surprise, not a bad thing but seemed to come out of left field for sure. It was a little too convenient that the h was so open to the change and actually wanted it, I don't know for some reason that didn't sit well for me, to easy I guess.
Overall the story was engaging and I liked how his follow PJ (Red) wasn't actually dead and that they were able to save him, that had a nice feel to it and I was glad that he was still "good" and wanted to be saved.
The h was indeed a strong character, which is great, but her willingness to go through the change and be made a shifter was a bit over done in my opinion. She was too into the whole superhero mind set. Loved that she was a competent h though, didn't panic at the drop of a hat etc.
Overall a good addition to the series, great to see the whole Protection Inc gang again and hopefully Red will join the pack in a later book?

I was a bit surprised Shane's book was next, but I was not disappointed. He's intrigued me from the first ... and his back story is a doozy.

Ellie's friend Catalina is back from her humanitarian work, and she finds herself walking home in front of Protection Inc's building. She stumbles upon Shane, who's down but not out yet. She tries to help, but he blasts her with fear ... only, she won't give up. The baddies tranq them, and she wakes up in a black op facility with Shane ... who knows she's his mate, but he can't let them know what she means to him.

These two are complete adrenaline junkies, who won't give up ... no matter the odds. Together, they have to work together to escape ... while Shane works through the trauma Apex put him through.

Justin is an intriguing character, and I'm pretty sure I know who he's going to be paired up with in a future book. Looking forward to reading that one!

Catalina has just returned from Paramedics Without Borders. Her flight has been cancelled so many times, she opts for a cab instead of calling her best friend, Ellie. She decides to get out by Protectors, Inc. where Ellie's boyfriend works, just to check it out. In a nearby alley she finds a man down. She has a verbal fight with him regarding treatment. Shane has been hit with many animal trancs and has not passed out. Catalina is told that he is being targeted and to leave. She carries his three hundred plus pound body for nearly a city block before she gets hit and falls paralyzed by the dart that Shane couldn't bar away. Catalina is his mate, but he is terrified the secret gov't lab will hurt her if they know. They need to work together to get out without Catalina being turned into a shifter assassin.

Good

A little longer than the previous two books in this series, paramedic Catalina is kidnapped alongside Protection Inc. panther shifter Shane.
Shane has a history with these kidnappers, and it’s not a happy one, and it’s down to Shane to help Catalina get away before she is hurt.

We learn so much more about Shane in this book, and it’s a pivotal one as far as the story arc goes, with a new direction story wise, that sets up subsequent books.

It’s an entertaining read, with lots of action and romance.
The heroine is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, which is fortunate since the hero is too.
It has an intriguing plot, which is sure to please the paranormal romance fans out there.

This series gets better with every book.

Still waters run deep and none deeper then Shane's, as he barely escaped am ambush.
Catalina paramedic just returning home from overseas, rushed to help an injured stranger.
Shane tries to run her off, unable to he gives into her offer of help.
They almost make it to safety
Read who, trapped them, how they escape, are recaptured, and well read to find out.
Like the previous ones it is all fast paced, action and romance.

Next Protection idea

How about putting Justin and Fiona together? That way it brings Justin back, adds to the team and I would really like to see one of the girls stories. If not, I've thought from the beginning that Destiny and Ethan should get together. She needs a strong Alpha to tame her.

Defensive Panther

Catalina and Shane are both high octane people even before they become shifters. Being shifters gave them a new means to be superheroes and the abilities that were missing to do more good for others. Great story.

Worth it!

Apex is kidnapping spec ops and turning them into black ops shifter ultimate predators. It's a great story with Shane as the hero who keeps trying to escape. Catalina is a paramedic who tries to help him and is captured. Turns out she's his mate.... Read on!

Would have been better if the h wasn't so thrilled with the idea of being turned. That bothered me every time she got excited about becoming a 'superhero'.

I really loved this book and would read it again. Great Job!

In the entire time they’d been making love, she’d never let go of his arms, not once. Her grip tightened to the point of pain as he thrust inside her, but that only made him more excited. Her smell, her tight wet heat, her soft gasps, her responsiveness to his every thrust, the contrast between her soft flesh and the iron grip of her fingers all of it was driving him wild. They were two of a kind, halves of a whole, mates who needed to live on the edge, in the place where pain and pleasure met, where danger made you feel alive, where you and your beast were one. Shane let go of control, abandoning himself to the wildness within him. And not only wildness, but pleasure and passion and freedom and love. His climax shattered his senses, then reknit him new and whole. He and Catalina were so close as to be one heart in two bodies, and yet he felt more himself than he had in years. Finding your mate is finding yourself, he thought. This is me. I’m finally back. He set Catalina down. She staggered, clutching at his arm for support. Shane didn’t feel too steady himself. Luckily, the bed was right there beside them. They collapsed on it and lay together, gasping and sweaty and content. Catalina gave a long sigh of pleasure and ran her fingers through his hair. “It’s good to be home. Shane knew she wasn’t just talking about her apartment. He was her home, the place where she was loved and safe, respected and treasured. And she was his. Her soft breasts pressed into Shane’s chest, and her strong legs curled around his. He’d never felt such a sense of belonging in his life. She ran her fingers around his upper arm, tracing the marks she’d left. Before Apex had taken and remade him, such new bruises would have been red. But with his accelerated healing, they were already black against his pale skin, the outlines of her fingers sharp as tattoos. By the next morning, they’d be gone, just like the closing bites he’d left on her shoulder. Catalina knew him too well to apologize or ask if he minded. Instead, she said, “I saw a king’s armlets in a museum once. They were pure gold. From the size of them, he’d have worn them right there.

ANOTHER DIVINELY ENTERTAINING READ FROM ZOE CHANT!!!
Title: Protector Panther
Series: Protection, Inc
Designation: Book Three of Series, Standalone Novella, NO Cliffhanger
Author: Zoe Chant
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: FIVE CAPTIVATING STARS
Wow! Another awesome read from Zoe Chant! I became totally infatuated with Chant's work last year after reading Bodyguard Bear, the first book in her Protection Inc Series and immediately became a fan! I fell head over heels for the concept of the series and the large cast of magnificent characters featured in each book. All of the books in this series are standalone novellas, featuring a different member of Protection Inc finding their mate and their very own happily-ever-after ending. The characters introduced in the first book make a return appearance in each subsequent book which draws the reader into the story much more quickly. They become our friends and family and without a doubt, it's one of the things I love most about this series. Chant has continued the thrilling fast-paced adventure with Protector Panther, the third release of the Protector, Inc Series and she totally knocked this one out of the park! Although each release is a standalone novella featuring a different member of the Protector, Inc team, I would highly recommend reading at least the first book, Bodyguard Bear, since it introduces the large cast comprising the Protector, Inc employees and sets up the premise for the entire series. If you enjoy this series half as much as I do, you'll be a fan for life! The story is exciting, thrilling, fast-paced, suspenseful, sweet, romantic and sexy. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view. My favorite! The dialogue is smart, entertaining, well executed and flows seamlessly. I'm also very impressed with the presentation of Chant's books. They are extremely well edited, the formatting is excellent and the covers are always beautiful. Chant excels at world building but it's her characters that take center stage in this series. Meet handsome, enigmatic panther shifter and Protection Inc employee, Shane Garrity and beautiful curvaceous paramedic, Catalina Mendez. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging and endearing. I was intrigued with Shane and his mysterious persona when he was introduced in the first book. I knew his story would be remarkable and it is! And Catalina - she's truly magnificent! Does her name sound familiar? It should! Remember Ellie McNeil, the lovely brave paramedic from the first book who mated Hal Brenner, owner of Protection Inc? Yup, that's the one. Well, Catalina is Ellie's paramedic partner and best friend. See what I mean about Chant's skilled world building and character development? The heroes are all handsome, charismatic alpha males with kind hearts carefully concealed under their strong, gruff exteriors and the heroines are beautiful, intelligent, brave women who possess remarkable strength, courage, caring and kindness. No wilting violets among these women! I love it! Chant skillfully combines these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining paranormal tale filled to the brim with heart-pounding danger, spellbinding drama, heart-stopping adventure, spine-tingling suspense, heartbreaking angst and sweet seductive romance. And folks, this book is twice as long as the first one coming in at almost 200 pages! Woo-Hoo! What did I love about this book? Everything! What didn't I like about this book? Not a darn thing! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since there are a few steamy dream love scenes. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she publishes the next book in the series!

Most people hate working the graveyard shift but for adrenaline junkie paramedic Catalina Mendez, it's her favorite time of day, well technically night or early morning. It's the most exciting time to work for someone in her profession because it's the peak time for automobile crashes, industrial accidents, medical crises and violent crimes. It's also the best time for Catalina to do what she does best - save lives. Catalina is devoted to her job and there's nothing she enjoys more than being able to save a life which is why she also works with Paramedics Without Borders and travels the world helping to restore emergency services to areas affected by catastrophic events. As a matter of fact, she's just returning from Loredana, a small European nation recently ravaged by a horrific earthquake. After flight cancellations and delays, Catalina has finally arrived in Santa Martina but it's the middle of the night and she's had way too much coffee, so she decides to walk part of the way home. Sound crazy? Yep, according to her family but she's always enjoyed being out this time of the night and never been afraid of being mugged or attacked. Unfortunately, her decision tonight may very well be one she regrets after finding a handsome stranger staggering from a dark alley. Well, maybe she doesn't regret the hot stranger but she definitely regrets what happens next - she's abducted along with her hunky, hot patient by a secret government Black Ops agency called Apex. Oh my! They can't do that, can they? They can and they have, and they intend to turn her into some kind of black op super agent/assassin against her will. What? Oh yes, and that's not all.....they're going to make her into a shifter. What the heck? She doesn't take lives, she saves them! What's a courageous paramedic to do? Why fall in love and escape, of course!

Panther shifter and former military pararescue jumper Shane Garrity has been running from his past for a year now. He's lucky he's even alive. Had it not been for Hal Brenner, owner of Protection Inc, finding him in the woods and saving him, he would be long dead. He's tried desperately to keep a low profile but somehow, Apex has found him and it looks like the jig is finally up. And why in the world won't the beautiful, brave woman trying to rescue him, just go away and leave him to his fate before it's too late for her as well. Now, Apex has them both but what Apex doesn't know is that Catalina is his mate and unlike before, he'll do anything, and I do mean anything, to save her. He and his panther are in complete agreement. If it means killing every last one of them, that's exactly what he'll do - even if the cost is his own life. Oh my! Will Shane be able to confront his demons and reveal his secrets to Catalina about his dark past? Will Catalina be able to accept Shane and his secrets? Can Shane find a way to escape and save them both before it's too late? We'll see! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read. I have to admit, I was really looking forward to both Shane and Catalina's story but I had no idea I would get both in the same book. They are absolutely perfect for each other! I loved it! Well done Ms Chant, well done indeed! I can hardly wait to see who the next story is about!

Can They Make it Out Together

It’s been a while since I dipped my toes back into the shifter world, and honestly I have missed it a lot. I stepped into this series in the middle, but you really don’t need to have read the previous books, the author does a good job at building things enough to where you aren’t confused.
I really like our heroine, Catalina. She’s brave, loyal, strong, like animals, and smart. I like that we start off with her coming back from a trip overseas to help a disaster zone, I am always a fan of people putting their lives on hold so that they can help other people. I think the biggest problem with Catalina is honestly that she borders on too fearless. She is kidnapped early on in the book with our hero and honestly, I thought she should have been a heck of lot more scared than she was, especially in the moments where she was excited. That’s the only thing that I had trouble with when it came to her.
Our hero Shane was basically everything you would want him to be. Hot, ex-military guy who has been turned into a super-shifter panther. He’s a good guy and he’s out to protect Catalina and get them out of their situation.
The book has a faster pace, outside of maybe a couple of chapters. There is a lot of action and a lot of build up between the characters. Overall, I thought this was a fun read and I would definitely read more by the author in the future.

Really enjoyed this one, and also how different each book in this series has been so far. I expected that each book would be a mission to guard someone/thing and that one team member would fall in love with the client or someone connected to the case each time - but instead, the Protection, Inc. set up is much more in the background like a "regular" job might be, and instead we get a book tailored to each team members character.

Shane has been mysterious and a little scary in the first two books, and here we finally learn why that is and how he became that way. Catalina is Ellie's best friend (the heroine from book 1), so we've met her already, but only briefly, and she and Shane have only heard about one another, never met. When they actually do meet at the beginning of this book they don't know who the other is, but that is resolved fairly quickly and Catalina and Shane end up making an excellent team. I liked that Shane didn't judge Catalina for her seemingly reckless behavior, and that they could bond over their paramedic training and count on one another to be professional in a stressful situation.

All in all, very much enjoying this series and looking forward to reading the rest!

Reunion of Friends!

This book was very good, had some sex scenes, kidnapping scenes, reunions, good vs bad fights & lots of cats big & small.

We met Catalina in book 1 as she was Ellie's paramedic partner as we'll as her friend. Catalina was walking down a street & passed an alleyway where she encountered a man that needed medical attention; that man was Shane who works with Hal & he was trying to get to Protection, Inc to evade the bad guys.

Shane, as soon as he got a good look at Catalina knew she was his mate but, tried not to show it or the bad guys would use that against him. He tried to discourage Catalina from helping him but resisted his tactics & they both wound up being kidnapped by the bad guys.

This is not on the story of their mating but also how Shane became a panther.
