It was the weekend before Thanksgiving. More than 100,000 fans were jammed inside Michigan Stadium, on their feet, to witness a heated football rivalry that had spanned more than 100 years. As the football was kicked into the snow-filled sky, they were about to get the shock of their lives, as long-foretold Bible prophecy came to pass before their very eyes, causing many to vanish into thin air without a trace. But what they soon realized was that it reached far beyond Michigan Stadium. Chaos of unimaginable proportions ensued worldwide. Shock, fear and panic filled each heart and mind. It was just the beginning of things to come, as life as humanity had known it was forever changed in the blink of an eye..

This is the first writing from this author I have read. I am very impressed with the way this author writes and how he has constructed this novella (82 pages). It is just long enough to set the scene for the rest of the series and whet our appetite for what is to come. It is a real cliff-hanger having the Rapture occur at the 3/4 mark and leave you hanging at the end wondering what is to come and what happens to the characters that this short sets up. It is constructed so well, that I would suggest any reader to make sure that they have the next book in their possession to read immediately as they will not want to delay finding out what happens next.

One thing that struck me reading this novella is the research and application of same that Higgins so masterfully includes and portrays. I have always found that whether you are young or older, learning is always better achieved if it is delivered in a fun way or in such a manner that the participant (in this case, the reader) picks it up easily and therefore its retention is far much more guaranteed than under less fun or favourable conditions. Higgins shines here. His knowledge of American football is superb and is cleverly delivered as a backdrop to this story pre-Rapture and also unifies the relationship between three of the main characters. I know nothing about this particular sport (I live in Australia), but the way Higgins has integrated this into the story as the background setting and as part of the relationship between Justin, Brian and Graig is very enjoyable and I found myself getting interested in this sport!!

For a novella, Higgins has created his characters to be very relatable. I found myself very attached to all of them and interested to see how the rapture affects them, (of those that are left behind) and this adds to the cliff-hanger ending I mentioned before. I am intrigued to see how these character's plot lines intersect in the remaining installments of the series. There has been some basic intersection of one character with two others in this installment and I can see that this intersection of characters will add to and strengthen the plot in the remainder of the series.

This novella is very biblically based. Higgins outlines his "stand" on eschatology in the "Foreword" (Titled For Your Consideration) and provides a convincing account of why he has taken this stand. I must confess that there are elements in this account that I had not considered before or read elsewhere. He has obviously researched this extensively to arrive at his conclusions and I look forward to seeing these integrated in the rest of the series. Stating whether you are a Pre-Tribulation, Mid-tribulation or Post-Tribulation adherent can be risky as this whole topic of eschatology and specifically the Tribulation period, is one very hot potato within Christian circles. I admire Higgins for outlining his stand in this Foreward and basing his fiction series around this.

I found it very refreshing having an evangelistic theme woven into the plot through the character of Justin, being the only witnessing Christian in this story. Other Christian novels either have this type of theme weakly constructed or somewhere in the background and not very obvious, but Higgins is up front with this. This shows what we as professing Christians need to be like if we are following in the footsteps of Jesus and His Great Commission. Even in real life, Christians who are like Justin can become unrelatable and super-spiritual but Higgins has depicted Justin and his wife as genuine and sincere and very relatable. Listening to Justin and his wife, Heather, discuss how to talk to others about the Gospel shows us how to witness to our friends and family without being preachy, self-righteous and pious and without them feeling they are condemned and judged to hell without any hope at all. I appreciated Higgins showing this through Justin's behavior towards Brain, which reinforces that we are to be doers of the Word and not just hearers of same. I loved the Spirit having the occasional words of caution and encouragement when Justin was discerning when and how to talk to Brian about Jesus.

I am always intrigued how Christian authors portray the Rapture. Do they have a gradual build up then just as suddenly as we expect it to happen in real life, it occurs and catches the reader off guard, or is it too predictable? In this novel, I knew it was to happen during the football game as outlined in the book description so I was on tenterhooks reading the game-play description and yes, I was caught off guard, which pleased me immensely as this is just how I like it. Higgins' description of the First Family's confusion, shock, horror, panic, despair, grief at losing some members of their family and the same of the population in and around the football stadium and of those in New York where Tamika is situated, is very realistic and emotion provoking. Definitely adds to the action and suspense of this scenario. Higgins has constructed this well and I am looking forward to seeing this continue in the next installment.

I am glad Patrick Higgins submitted this book to me for review. Despite him offering to send me a PDF copy, I did not mind spending the $0.99 cents to buy it. More than money well spent. I have been spiritually encouraged, challenged and entertained immensely in this novella. I do look forward to reading the rest of this series and his other novels. I applaud him for making his fiction spiritually and biblically based and not afraid to show the Gospel of Christ in his plot and characters.

Highly Recommended.

This is a great start to what I expect to be an amazing series. This book rivals the very famous Left Behind series in my opinion (which I read and loved).

The story in this book is mainly leading up to the rapture and the author does an excellent job at building the suspense. I loved that the reader gets to see this event from several different perspectives and locations (a taxi in New York City, an airport, a packed college stadium, even Camp David).

The author has an introduction before the story with his thoughts on the rapture and his pre-tribulation views. I hold the pre-trib views as well but his "evidence" for these views were different than any I'd heard before and I found them very interesting.

I loved how the author showed the obsession that our country can have with sports. I've often said to my husband that it seems like sports (especially college football in my area) is some people's religion. If they had that same fire and love for the Lord, this world would be an amazing place!

The characters in the story were well developed and written in a way that makes me want to know more about them.

Overall, this was an excellent story...I just wish it was longer. I definitely plan on picking up the next book in the series.

I received this book from the publisher/author to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love how the author explains his eschatological viewpoint to his readers, before delving into this powerful series. It was a nice touch. This way the reader knows where he stands up front. Regarding Bible prophecy coming to pass at a college football game, all I can say is WOW! Simply brilliant! I know it's only a novel but I am learning so much from it. I am hooked, and plan to read every book in this series.

This is the setup to what appears to be a very interesting and exciting series. I am a huge fan of theLeft Behind Seriesand am excited to see the same prophetic story written from a different point of view. I thought the characters were engaging, easy to connect with, and fun to read about. The inclusion of the football game was neat. While we don't know the exact moment the rapture will take place, it is fun thinking of all these different scenarios. The ending is a little abrupt, but it just means you have to go get the first book in the series and dive right in!

This is a series you do now want to miss! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chaos in the Blink of an Eye is a fictional account of the rapture and what it might be like. This is a prequel of a series of books and it is a quick read. It is well written and interesting. There are a lot of great characters the writer has developed and I'm intrigued to see what will happen next with them. In this prequel several characters are introduced and so far in this book I don't know how all of the stories intersect but I'm sure that will be revealed in the books to come. This is a really good start to a story and I'm intrigued.

Edge of your seat reading

Very well written. Very detailed about the main characters lives as if you actually know them. The plot is well written using future biblical prophecies. Though we don't know the day or time of Christ's return, we must always be ready. Looking forward to reading the next book and would recommend this book for tweens on up to ages adults. God Bless!!

Pandemonium set in when individuals disappear in a blink of an eye. Higgins focus on the end times written in this fictional novella provided Biblical research he had done prior to writing this award winning Prophetic series. Chaos in the Blink of an Eye introduced five characters with their lifestyles, social economic status, faith and gender. Higgins love for football brought three of the characters together for a rivalry game between Ohio State and Michigan with the rapture taking place. The realistic events and happenings that are vibrant with description of the turmoil that arose when millions disappear will cause readers to think about what will happen to them when Christ comes back for His church. I appreciate Higgins Biblical research and scriptures along with the twists and turns of the characters leading up to the event in this story. The epilogue had numerous questions that will be answered in the complete series. Believers in Jesus Christ realize this day is coming, but this is an excellent novella to give to nonbelievers for them to read with football and team rivalry that could cause them to consider their own personal relationship with God.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for his tour with Celebrate Lit. I was not required or paid to write a positive review but have expressed my own opinion.

I just finished reading this book. I'm a committed Christian, and from beginning to end, this story is Biblically sound. However, the characters have very little development, there is very little dialogue between characters, and the book does not go into enough depth. I understand that some authors have already written about the rapture in depth, but for people who haven't read those books, this subject needs to be taken seriously. What if the rapture were to occur and the people who were left behind were left with having read this novella and still had no idea how to accept Christ?

I had no emotional stake in any of the characters in this book, and therefore wasn't emotionally invested in the ones who were left behind. This book is just too short and doesn't have enough depth and development.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.

A compelling tale, well started

As a teacher of end times prophecy, this story seems a bit stereotypical. However, Patrick has started with the sense of urgency required. The King is coming much sooner than most suppose. One of these days, your choice will be recorded.

Chaos In The Blink of an Eye by Patrick Higgins
Yikes. Quite interesting. It had me turning one page to another in rapid speed. You know something is going to happen....but what? When?

Each character has a story to tell. Who will survive? Who will disappear?

I have somewhat of an idea what's happening but of course, it leaves you guessing. Interesting that Mr. Higgins uses the buildup of his story with the annual Michigan and Ohio Game. There is a lot of hero worshipping of sports figures. My husband and I stopped watching football due to all the shenanigans.

I received this free to review.

About the Author
Patrick higginsPatrick Higgins is the author of The Pelican Trees, Coffee In Manila, the award-winning The Unannounced Christmas Visitor, and the award-winning prophetic end-times series, Chaos In The Blink Of An Eye. While the stories he writes all have different themes and take place in different settings, the one thread that links them all together is his heart for Jesus and his yearning for the lost.
With that in mind, it is his wish that the message his stories convey will greatly impact each reader, by challenging you not only to contemplate life on this side of the grave, but on the other side as well. After all, each of us will spend eternity at one of two places, based solely upon a single decision which must be made this side of the grave. That decision will be made crystal clear to each reader of his books.
Higgins is currently writing many other books, both fiction and non-fiction, including a sequel to Coffee In Manila, which will shine a bright, sobering light on the diabolical human trafficking industry.
Guest Post from Patrick Harris
What started the Chaos in the Blink of an Eye series for me stems from my deep love of sports, which, I admit has diminished considerably over the years. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy watching and attending sporting events whenever I have the time. But these days I view them from an entirely different perspective than when I wore a younger man’s face and displayed a weaker man’s faith in God.
This slow but gradual shrinking away started soon after the Lord impressed upon my heart that the fastest growing religion in America, and the world for that matter, wasn’t Christianity or Islam, but “sports. Every day of the week—including Sundays—millions of fans fill stadiums and arenas (or shall I say cathedrals?) worldwide to worship their heroes.
Whatever the sport, fans show up in droves to cheer on mere mortals as if they were gods. When their teams win life is good. When they lose life is miserable.
As a once-guilty participant for many years, I should know.
The passion most fans have for their favorite players and sports teams is the same passion they should have in pursuing the One who saw their unformed bodies from the foundations of the world, the very One who knit them together inside their mothers wombs.
Tragically, this is not the case. Hence, the reason for the CHAOS series. The sporting event chosen for this story was the famed Michigan-Ohio State college football rivalry.
Prior to writing the prequel, I traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to attend the game. I admit I was just as caught up in the mass hysteria as everyone else. It was impossible not to be swept up into the vortex that had completely engulfed the vibrant college town.
The energy was quite palpable. So much so that I had to remind myself more than once that I was there to research and observe everything connected to the game, then put it all into words for my readers. The sporting event itself was secondary.
Though the prequel initially centers on the football game, in no way is this a sports series. This will become quite clear to you when Bible prophecy comes to pass inside Michigan Stadium, and many vanish into thin air, leaving everyone still inside the stadium utterly panic-stricken.
It was just the beginning of things to come, as life as humanity had known it was forever changed in the blink of an eye

"Chaos: In the Blink of an Eye" by Patrick Higgins is the prequel to the rest of the series, and after reading it I want to read the rest of the series. I think there are supposed to be ten books in this series.

I have read The "Left Behind " series and I think these are going to be better, because they are shorter reads and I feel like the characters were more "true to life" then the charters in the above series. Of, course I have only read the prequel to this series, but I already have the next book download on my iPad.

Brian and the rest of the characters in this book are looking forward to a weekend that will never be forgotten and what they get is one that changes the whole world.

I was drawn into this story from the first word because it is written so well and the scenes and the details are very well described. It really felt like I was watching them happening as well as reading about them.

I like the fact that the sporting event chosen for this story was a real event. It is the famed Michigan-Ohio State college football rivalry.

I cannot wait to start reading the rest of the books, the sixth one is to be released soon.

I think every reader should read " For your consideration" at the beginning of the book, I think it makes the anticipation of getting into the story more enchanted.

All I can really say about this series is it is about the end times and is Bible prophecy.

I am going to include two quotes from the " For your consideration" section and that will help explain why I say read it first, "I repeat NO ONE , knows exactly when God's final prothetic clock will start ticking. Not even Jesus knew when He walked among us. Anyone foolishly setting such dates must think they are more privileged than Jesus was, and should be avoided at all costs." The second quote is " Regardless of how you may interpret the end-times, as long as you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of many and has the power to take away your sins, if you place your complete trust in Him for your eternal salvation, you will be saved."

In conclusion, I say if you read "Chaos: In the Blink of an Eye" by Patrick Higgins you too will be swept up into a series that you will want to read until the conclusion and look at the end times a little more closely and want to be prepared to meet Our Saviour at the end of the world.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

This novella was a quick read but it is packed full. The author does a great job of building the scene for future book and making sure you want to read. It is the first that I've read from him, but it won't be the last. I liked the way he set everything up and made it enjoyable while you are actually learning.

It is a fictional account of the rapture but it is so realistic! The author definitely knows his football and uses it well to craft the story. I read the left behind series and this has a similar feel. I cannot wait to read the next one.

It was a 4/5 for me.

THE RAPTURE IS HERE!

Many people have many different beliefs concerning the Rapture of the Church or even if it is Biblical. Wherever you fall, this book is still for you.
It is not overbearing and never preachy. It is written as a possible explanation for certain scriptures and weaves a fantastic story as current as today's headlines!
Christian and nonbelievers alike will enjoy this fast paced story. Get this one, you will not be disappointed!

Come Lord Jesus.

To think that this, as well as, many other books on this topic describes the coming events explicitly. I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His gift of salvation. I would hate to have to live through the horror that will be occurring on the earth.
Please don't let this series, or any you decide to read, pass you by without making the decision to follow Jesus.

This is a very accurate and plausible scenario for the rapture of Christians. It will happen in the twinkling of an eye, like a thief in the night as prophesied in the Bible.
