Rate this book

"I want to be healthy and fit 52 weeks of the year, but that doesn't mean I have to be perfect every day. This philosophy is a year-round common-sense approach to health and fitness that involves doing your bestmost of the time—and by that I don't mean being naughty for three days and good for four. I mean doing your absolute best most of the time during every week, 52 weeks of the year."Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood believes that fitness is a lifelong journey. She wasn’t born with the toned arms and strong legs that fans know her for. Like all of us, she has to work hard every day to look the way that she does! InFIND YOUR PATH she shares her secrets with readers, with the ultimate goal of being the strongest version of themselves, and looking as good as they feel. Carrie’s book will share secrets for fitting diet and exercise into a packed routine—she’s not only a multi-Platinum singer, she’s a businesswoman and busy mom with two young children. Based on her own active lifestyle, diet, and workouts,FIND YOUR PATH ispacked with meal plans, recipes, weekly workout programs, and guidelines for keeping a weekly food and workout journal. It also introduces readers to Carrie's signature Fit52 workout, which involves a deck of cards and exercises that can be done at home—and it sets her fans on a path to sustainable health and fitness for life. Fit52 begins with embracing the "Pleasure Principle" in eating, making healthy swaps in your favorite recipes, and embracing a long view approach to health—so that a cheat a day won't derail you.

Throughout the book, Carrie shares her personal journey towards optimal health, from her passion for sports as a kid, to the pressure to look perfect and fit the mold as she launched her career after winning American Idol, to eventually discovering the importance of balance and the meaning of true health. For Carrie, being fit isn't about crash diets or a workout routine that you're going to dread. It’s about healthy choices and simple meals that you can put together from the ingredients in your local grocery store, and making the time, every day, to move, to love your body, and to be the best version of yourself.

Dear Carrie and anyone thinking about reading Find Your Path,
As a Christian, wife, mother, author, teacher, and runner, I want to say THANK YOU to Carrie Underwood for this phenomenal book. Yes, it arrived yesterday and I read every bit of it before bedtime. That says a lot with my hectic schedule.

Carrie does an amazing job of keeping it real, not making excuses, focusing on what you enjoy and moving forward. I love the Fit52 philosophy and truth be told, I’ve been on the struggle bus since my last half marathon in November. I just wasn’t feeling the same ole morning routine- get up before work at 4:30, run to the dang fire station uptown and head home to start the day. Those 5 miles were turning into something else on my list and were dreadful even if I LOVE the girls I run with.

So, I did what I needed to do. I took a break, enjoyed sleeping until 6:30 when I’d frantically jump out of bed, hurry Carlee to get ready and fly out the door. Guess what y’all? That’s not working either. Not to mention, I’m dreaming all the time and can tell you all about them. Did y’all know that angelica root is a evade vampires? For real! That’s what my brain is doing at night.

This book isn’t a fix all, but it is one to show that even with a hectic everyday mama life you can move more, make better choices, and feel like you aren’t alone. For me, this has been my struggle since I sub 2 my first half marathon, ran a full a year later and didn’t BQ as expected, and within a month was diagnosed with Mold Toxicity due to my classroom environment which left me barely able to run a mile. But y’all know I don’t give up easily, and I pushed to run the half this past November and shocked a few folks that I survived those 13.1. (It wasn’t easy and it was the hardest race I’ve ran in my life because I’m still on the mend.)

I had Find Your Path and another health book, Run to the Finish, both arrived together yesterday. Knowing that Carrie is strong in her faith, one of my favorite country music stars, and puts her family first, I dove in. It filled my cup in more than one way, and the funniest part is that during my struggles, I wrote a book that my agent, Stephanie, has been shopping. This book focused on allergy friendly foods, the rat race to keep up with social media, always being perfect, getting tired of the same ole crap day in and out, but it also shows what happens when you get outside and notice the little moments in life. It really made me think about what Carrie talks about in Find Your Path. Get outside, enjoy the moments you have to move, be present with who matters most, and it hit home. Now, the funny part of this is In this novel, the main character has to run in Nashville and who ends up running beside her in this race? You guessed it, Carrie. I couldn’t help but get tickled. I tell you this not to push my books (but if Harper Collins wants to reach out I’m game. LOL,) but to show that she’s as true and genuine as I believed and imagined.

Carrie Underwood is a strong role model in my house. My daughter, Carlee, adores her and this mama does too! I won’t ever forget Carlee’s face when she received tickets for her birthday to travel to Nashville to see her perform for the second time. She saw her previously in Charlotte, NC when she was 4. It’s by far been one of the most memorable concerts for our family and we’re some country music concert fools. LOL

Carrie, thank you for pouring your heart out with your struggles that we all face because in this world, we need to know we aren’t alone. Your kindness and faith shine through in everything you do. I admire your ability to keep your family life private and be the best mother and wife you can for your family. You truly are an inspiration to this mama who at one point thought she had to do all the things, but has realized life is more enjoyable when you fill your cup, spend some time with God, get outside, and spend the little moments with the ones that matter most.

With Love and Mason Jars,
Casey

This book wasn’t anything earth shattering, but I loved it just the same and read it in less than 24 hours! I’m a big fan of Carrie’s, so I loved this inside peek at part of her life. It was organized well and covered all aspects of fitness; it would be an amazing resource for beginners to this lifestyle. It also has helpful journaling prompts and she so cleverly named the chapters of this book after her songs. While she has a slightly-obsessive take on fitness, and I have eased up since previously living that way (which is right for my body), she still had some great reminders, especially as I’m going through wedding body prep!

I know there are a lot of opinions on this book...

I read a bunch of different reviews when I was thinking of picking this up, and the thing is I knew it was about health and diet, so maybe we need to start there.

This book is about HEALTHY EATING and EXERCISE!

If you're looking for a book that will encourage you to feel good about yourself, full of fun stories, and motivational quotes... maybe pass.

If you're looking for a book that gives you a glimpse into how a celebrity stays healthy and fit, then pick this one up.

Notice I said CELEBRITY... so when you read this, know that Carrie will tell you what she does... which includes spending her money... which is not what the vast majority of the readers can claim as a paycheck. So if you want to hate on her gyms and personal trainer and nutritionist... pass on this.

description

Also, Carrie shares her personal workout goals, routines, and plans... and she is fit.... and has been... so if you're brand new to exercise and the world of lifting... maybe save this one for when you are six months into a training plan...

BUT

If you're already a physically fit minded person, I'm guessing you'll enjoy getting a peek into her routine and process. I personally am thrilled with a new workout idea... and it will last two weeks just for my first attempt? I'm so in.

description

But I'm an 8... I like to workout. Like Carrie says, sweating during a good workout is part of my goal already. So for me, this was a good read.

Granted, I don't follow Carrie's eating goals, but as she said, it's about knowing what we eat, and setting up our own goals. So mine don't align with hers, no big deal.

**A word about "all the tracking"- I hear how so many found this triggering... but for many writing down our progress towards goals is not an indicator of a problem. I know that for some that is a sign of control and can start a spiral towards unhealthy habits. But it's not that way for everyone, and as Carrie says, this is what works for her. It is how she stays accountable. She specifically says, find out what works for you, and do it. If you need to write down everything, do it! If not, then don't. Simple.

description

Overall I found this book to be judgment-free and fun. I wanted to know the amount of work celebrities put in... and for that purpose, this was a good read. And it motivated me in a season of winter when my preferred workout is just about impossible (trail running). Oh and I now have three great song playlists to use to motivate my workouts.

I read this book back in March and in December I am only just writing my review. The more I have thought about this book, the more I’ve realised I really didn’t enjoy it.

I’d like to make a point here that I absolutely adore Carrie Underwood and I so wanted to love this book.

Sadly for me, this book just screamed of disordered eating. Not only that, but as a celebrity, Carrie has access to a personal trainer, home gym, RV GYM and a nutritionist, which the average Joe just can’t afford. Don’t get me wrong, if I had her money I’d do exactly the same, but as someone who is living pay check to pay check, the whole book just seemed to unrealistic.

When I say the book screams of disordered eating, I am referring to when Carrie suggests eating a bun, but then going for a run. Having a pizza, but only have a couple slices and do some exercise to make up for it. Knowing you’re heading to a party on Friday night so spend the entire previous week eating as little as possible and doing as much exercise as possible. This isn’t healthy, or do-able. You should be able to just enjoy yourself and not think about how many calories you have consumed or how much exercise you’re going to have to do to work off that glass of wine!!

I can’t believe really that this has been allowed to be made into a book because for anyone with an eating disorder, this book will be the biggest trigger for them.

I’m genuinely gutted to be writing such a bad review for my favourite singer, but if nothing else, I have to be honest about my book reviews and this one was not for me.

Beautiful book. You get a few glimpses into Carrie Underwood’s life and learn that she is very dedicated and disciplined when it comes to health, fitness, and nutrition. Not sure how many stars I should give this book because in one sense, I wanted to learn more about her life, but in another sense, I wanted to know how she manages to maintain such a beautiful physique. This is a book about her personal journey regarding health.

I absolutely adore Carrie Underwood. I feel like she is one of those people who has stayed true to who she is. She is an amazing singer, entrepreneur, mother and is strong in her faith. I love her dedication to being strong and healthy, and heck....who doesn't want her legs???? I think that this book came at the perfect time that I needed to hear a few of the things that she said. After doing Keto for over two months, I had been looking for ways to come off and try to figure out what I wanted to do. I know the statistics of restrictive diets and that the extremes aren't really sustainable. Carrie shares some of her earlier diets and failures and the way that she eats and works out now. I think if Carrie Underwood can eat carbs, so can I. I love her approach that there are birthdays, holidays, social events that you want to attend and enjoy and you should...but that you should also be healthy most of the time and make the best decisions you can. That you need to be healthy 52 weeks of the year, but don't have to be perfect every day.

As a Carrie Underwood fan, I enjoyed reading the tidbits about her childhood, career, and family life. I found a few of the health tips to be helpful, but I would have preferred the book to be more focused on her life in general or her career. It is apparent that Carrie is extremely self-disciplined, and at times, the book became a little much due to this. I wish I would have loved it more, but it is a quick, easy read!

This was a hard book for me to finish... so I didn’t. I felt that I was reading a book written by someone with a distorted view of eating and a compulsion to track every calorie in and out. I also feel that if you are recovering from an eating disorder, this book can totally trigger you.

Carrie seem likes a wonderful mother and wife. She is obviously a successful singer, I just don’t feel her fitness journey speaks to the majority.

Very inspiring, beautiful pictures and full of practical advice on how to take better care of your body! I don’t think Carrie’s approach to health and fitness would be everyone’s cup of tea - she is very disciplined, but I’m already noticing benefits from taking a few leaves out of her book!

I am listening to this book, I got it from the library and I wish I never did. I love, love, love Carrie Underwood and I will never hear her or see her the same again. First of all listening to this book is painful, really painful she is so flat....second she is a fitness snob. If you don't take care of your body the way God wants you to and she runs till she is sweaty to clear her head and oh I am not wasting calories eating that today....someone should have stopped Carrie from publishing this. Agh. I am so sad because I love her music and when she hosts award shows I always thought she was funny. Carrie some people it is not easy to exercise and eat healthy......I guess you just don't get that.

I really like Carrie Underwood as a person and a singer. However, as a dietetics student and future RD, this book can be harmful to so many people. I strongly disagree with some or most of the things said in this book and if you are just starting your nutrition journey, this book is not for you. I often sat with a disgusted look after listening (I listened to the audiobook) some of the things she does to stay healthy and fit. In addition, the disgust in her voice sometimes talking about food was really sad to hear. Restricting food is not healthy. Honoring hunger and eating foods you enjoy in moderation is healthy, in my opinion. Everyone's bodies are different and everyone can follow what works for them - yes. But, this book can be damaging to people.

For the most part, I really like Carrie's book. She blends a lot of really great pieces of information for anyone to find useful. Everything you need is really in this book, if you want to read and use it as a guide. It includes life, exercises, recipes, tips, tricks, and more. Carrie is a pretty simple person, as it seems in this book, so recipes are minimal with time and ingredients, which I LOVE!

I love to exercise, but I don't do the best with written instructions, so I REALLY, REALLY, wish that Carrie had a video series to go along with all of her exercises that she shares so that we could see the exercises too. That would be most helpful.

I just can't with the writing down everything you eat & calorie counting!! Gahh- it is truly so heartbreaking to me & I worry so much what/how a young woman would be able to handle reading this- so unhealthy & downright scary to me! I have nothing against Carrie underwood personally, I am just disappointed in her truly unhealthy views towards food & health. This exact outlook on health is so prevalent today though, not only accepted, but held up as the "gold standard" of taking care of yourself. Makes me sad, but would most likely be "well received" by the mass majority of people who read it.

Carrie Underwood is health/fitness GOALS. I loved all of her tips/tricks for working out and eating healthy. Highly recommend this one to anyone wanting to start working out or someone who is already doing it consistently. We all have room for improvement and Carrie sheds light on this in a real-life-down-to-earth way that is so Carrie Underwood. I also can’t wait to try some of her recipes (and buy her cute workout clothes!)

Being a big Carrie Underwood fan, I knew I had to read this book and find out how she finds the time to eat healthy and work out when she's so busy with her career and family obligations. Yes, I know she has the money for a work out coach and a nutritionist, but she does give a pretty simple, effective workout regimen called Fit52 and shares work out options when you don't have gym equipment on-hand. Fit52 is a plan that assigns certain exercises to each suit in a deck of cards. Brilliant! Diamonds are for upper body, Hearts are for lower body, Clubs are for core, and Spades are for cardio. And of course, staying healthy includes eating healthy and Underwood includes her go-to recipes (she's vegetarian).

I loved Carrie Underwood's approach to health and fitness - being healthy and fit 52 weeks out of the year and looking at the full week instead of an individual day. I appreciated her vulnerability and honesty in ways she has struggled in her health journey and it's inspiring to see where she is now. I'm excited to try out some of the included recipes and tips/tricks she suggested to being a healthier, better version of yourself!

So motivating, especially as a mom of toddlers. I always need reminders of how important it is to prioritize my own health to better take care of my family. No, I will not be tracking everything I eat, or journaling every detail of my health like she does, But it still encouraged me to keep pushing forward with my own way of living healthy 52 weeks of the year!

I'll be honest, I wasn't really sure what her book was about when I got it. I purchased it because she had some signed First Editions available and my daughter loves her and that was her first concert. I thought she would enjoy having the book with her autograph. Note: She's Ten so I guess I'll put it away for her until she's a little older. Ha

I actually really enjoyed her book. I love that she doesn't stress her Vegan lifestyle but tells you why she made this choice for herself and encourages you to do what fits your lifestyle. I also love that she makes it clear that her husband does eat meat. While I'm not opposed to eating this way (I currently don't) I think it's nice to see both sides of it.

Also, I love that she has her workouts included. I enjoyed her recipes and that she gave you ways to make it with meat as her husband does. I'll admit that the one thing I cannot stand to do is track my food. It's just so much work! (It's not...I'm being lazy) I like her idea of journaling and incorporating your daily events or thoughts along with your food journal etc. Less stuff to carry around is always a plus!

My favorite part was that she basically just encouraged you to move your body. It wasn't about hours in the gym. She just says move any way you can even if you are stepping outside to take a short walk. I think we oftentimes think that working out or being active requires time in the gym and that's just not the case. Sometimes it's nice to read little ideas of things you can do to get a few extra steps each day.

Her book really made me stop and think about ways to fit those extra steps in even during my busy day or my hours working at my desk. It was a fun read and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I will preface this review by saying that at my age and shape, I am most certainly not the target audience for this book, and I’m sure that greatly colors my viewpoint. I do read a lot of fitness books and this is not one of my faves. Carrie is a beautiful woman and in great shape, and I think this book is well intentioned. I take celebrity wellness books with a large grain of salt knowing that they have the resources the average person lacks, such as personal chefs, trainers, home gyms, nannies to watch the kids while they work out, etc. Still, her mobile gym that was as big as a lot of people’s apartments stunned me. The whole “we can use a deck of cards to determine what exercise you’re doing that day and you can do it anywhere sort of soured when I saw that. The plan itself seemed ok, if a little boring. Full disclosure: almost all my exercise is walking, which is more boring. This was a library book for me, and I did not get around to trying any of the recipes. They looked good though. I don’t eat tofu so I would sub chicken for that. She is a vegetarian, almost a vegan, but is not too preachy about it. Carrie talks a lot about tracking your food. She even both writes hers down by hand and then records it online. I am honestly not sure if this is a good idea or if it’s too obsessive. I think a younger crowd would benefit more from this book than I did.

I may not have rated this book this high had I read it at some other time in my life, since it’s mainly common sense: eat less, move more. However, between self-isolation and a new medication I’m on, I’ve gained a ton of weight this year and I just feel sluggish. I used to eat relatively healthy and work out regularly, but uh... not so much anymore.

I need a jumpstart badly, and so this book was perfect for me. For the first time in a long time, I feel motivated to start working out again, and I love the idea of using a deck of cards to do so. (If I’m being honest, though, I’m still a little confused on how to do it her way. I think maybe I would say clubs are squats and hearts are lunges, etc. Seems a lot more doable that way!)

There were also a lot of yummy-sounding recipes, and I appreciated the step-by-step instructions on a lot of the workouts.

This may not be a book that everyone will enjoy, but I definitely read it at the perfect time and I felt inspired by it. So for me, it worked.

Carrie seems great but this book was just awful. I think the advice in it isn't the best, though I'm sure she had good intentions. First, she seems to completely overlook the fact that she is rich, famous, and has resources that the rest of us don't. An example of this is when she talks about her personal "on tour" gym. Next, she talks about dieting and exercise as if it's the most amazing thing, when in reality, it's really difficult for most people. She goes on and on about tracking and measuring everything, which to me is just obsessive and unhealthy, not to mention - who the heck has time for that? Also, I didnt like the fact that the audiobook jumps from her to her personal trainer talking back and forth. As an audiobook it was very ineffective since she describes different workouts and recipes that you would need to pause and write down anyway in order to follow. Overall, I didn't really get anything out of it, other than the fact that you don't have to be perfect all the time (which, duh).

A really insightful book about Carrie Underwood’s fitness and health regime. Man, she is so talented and athletic to boot! I like how she said that fitness is her antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication for her. I feel like that too with fitness!

She brings up some great points about being derailed in one’s fitness or diet regime: even you get derailed that you need to do some self-talk to get back on your path! Don’t just let your derailment make you give up on your path. As someone who struggles with consistency within diet/fitness, the book’s advice and insight will help me to stick with my fitness/health regime!

Filled with recipes, Carrie Underwood’s personal examples on dieting, exercises and her relationship with health and fitness along with her trainer’s and nutritionist’s advice—you will not be disappointed in this book if your looking to enhance or improve your health. ❤️

I'm not a huge country music fan, but I do like Carrie Underwood and I love reading about health and fitness. Nothing in this book was mind-blowing. I don't know that I'll ever do Carrie's Fit52 workout (didn't sound like my thing), but I did enjoy reading about the health choices Carrie makes and being encouraged to up my health game again. I actually liked the segments by Carrie's trainer and nutritionist best!

I also appreciated that Carrie included the variations her husband Mike uses with her recipes. Although I do eat vegetarian meals frequently, I will be much more likely to try more of the recipes with non-vegan options, too. (Especially since I personally avoid soy and thus tofu, which is one of her standard ingredients.)

As if I needed another reason to love Carrie Underwood! I loved this book! It was a quick read that gave a brief background on how Carrie grew up, her time on American Idol followed by workout and nutrition advice... the topic of her book.

Carrie seemed down to earth and gave reasonable, yet great nutrition and fitness advice! She has motivated me to eat healthier and workout differently. It was a little hard to listen to as an audiobook since the exercises were read, but overall I loved it! This may be a book that I end up purchasing so that I can have her recipes and workouts in front of me.

I’m glad that I had a pretty good idea of what to expect with this book, because it was definitely less of a memoir and more of a self-help book. That being said, I still would’ve loved if Carrie had shared even more personal stories and reflections about her life.

Most of the fitness and healthy eating advice she offered does seem doable, but her intense, relentless approach probably plays a big role in how she has been able to maintain her lifestyle. Overall there were enough takeaways from this book that I found it to be worthwhile, but I would have loved if she had shared even more about her journey beyond just the health aspects.

I enjoyed this book and found it a worthwhile read. I appreciated the fact that it seems like it could appeal to people of various health/fitness levels and offered modifications throughout. While some of the more specific things Carrie does on a weekly basis to stay fit/healthy seem a little extreme for the average person to be able to maintain, many of the broader ideas/concepts of the “Fit52 Lifestyle appeared simpler and useful, yet though-provoking. There are definitely techniques, suggestions, recipes, and exercises that I feel like I could incorporate into my daily life.

Picked this up at my library on a whim. I'm not a self-help reader, but figured it would be interesting learning about her health and fitness journey. I saw her perform at the Opry during her pregnancy, and admired the strength she showed. While I didn't agree 100% with some of her philosophies, as she is fortunate to speak from a place of financial privilege, I still thought the structure and point of her book was very clear. Tabbed some recipes I look forward to trying as well!
