A firm grasp of the obvious

Do not read this book if you have seriously studied philosophy. This book is actually psychology and specifically close to cognitive behavioral therapy. Although helpful if you are in need of psychological help, it still does not go far enough to really make a difference. It has no depth.

Helpful read! Just like the author said, this is a practical book. It doesn't cover the mystical side of stoicism but the day-to-day stoicism, which we can all apply.
Stoicism might not be for everybody but the more you read about it, the more sense it makes! It's a great lifestyle that keeps you with both feet on the ground.
I recommend this book! I really enjoyed it!

A excellent guide to incorporating stoicism into your life.

Well written overview of stoicism, with plenty of suggestions on how to incorporate stoicism into your everyday life. Be on the lookout for little jems hidden throughout the chapters that provide easy to implement hacks.

Very nice little book for Stoic beginners. I like the selection of the practices discussed in this book. I also like the idea of cross matching each practice to a conducted scientific research/experiment.

The cure for a chaotic world.

The world is going crazy. We all see it. But how do we resist it in a meaningful way? By refusing to become a part of it! By staying calm when the world is losing it's shit. 🙂

Basic introduction to living stoicism

Not an in depth source of information. More of a basic approach to living stoicism and how to learn stoicism. Could be good for beginners.

Not bad. Easy to read, and probably a place I’d send someone who’s never read any stoics. But not the book to send a student of stoicism or philosophy to. I didn’t find much to think about here.

Take someone who doesn’t know about physical fitness. At all. They lead a sedentary life. For them a “practical book filled with introductory exercises is helpful. They may even think they need a gym and protein powder. But once they deepen their understanding, their world changes. I watched a tv episode where Jillian Michaels was coaching someone on a ranch. No equipment, but she had a varied and intense workout for the people she was coaching.

Such it is with this book. This is less on the bedrock of Stoicism and more on the “do this recipe. Again, not bad, but lacking depth.

Practical and easy to read. So easy to comprehend

I came across Stoicism in YouTube. The idea is easy to understand. It provides clear example and practical approach to day to day life. Author explained the rationale behind.

Brief, surface level summary of Stoicism

If you need a brief jumping off point to start your stoic practice this book could be useful. Other than that, it's lacking.

Some spelling/editing errors (kindle version) and unusual analogies were distracting.
