Twenty-something party girl Maisie May really shouldn't be dead. There's a pool party going on and she's missing all the fun. As she hovers overhead watching her loved ones blissfully splash about, Maisie begins to who hated her just enough to put a gun to her head and pull the trigger? And why would they do it in the middle of her own party?

Can you help Maisie work out whodunnit before the creepy dead people lurking near the tunnel convince her to cross?

The follow-up to the Amazon best-selling posthumous mystery Do Not Gentle, this is a stand-alone mystery (no need to read the first in the series) and contains some adult language and Australian colloquialisms.

Author Christina (C.A.) Larmer was born in remote Papua New Guinea where close encounters with witchdoctors and cannibal progeny (no, really), gave her a morbid taste for mystery that has culminated in more than a dozen crime novels, including four in the Amazon-bestselling Agatha Christie Book Club series, two Posthumous Mysteries, seven Ghostwriter Mysteries, a thriller/suspense, and a stand-alone novel called An Island Lost, which is set in deepest Papua—where else?

When she's not politely bumping people off (they are mostly 'cozies', folks), Christina can be found in the hinterland behind Byron Bay (Aus) where she runs an indie publishing biz, teaches, freelances, and hangs out with her muso hubby, two sons and one very cheeky Blue heeler. The second in this excellent (so far!) series narrated by dead people. I say so far because there are only two with great hopes for more to come.

In Maisie discovers herself dead, shot in the head, at her own party. She needs to move on into the light but before that she has to discover exactly what happened to her. In ghostly form she is able to observe and listen in to the police as they go about their investigation and can also read the minds of some of the people involved.

It is all good fun and Maisie finds out a good many things before she learns the truth about herself. This is a short but very enjoyable mystery and I hope there are many more to come!

For twenty-something, former personal assistant Maisie, the party at her parent's house turns out to be her final one--in the land of the living anyway. As her spirit hovers above, she sees that she's been shot, her body lying lifeless on the study floor. Now the question is, whodunit?

Friends and family are shocked and distressed, but not as much as the deceased. Maisie's spirit is on the case as she examines their post-Maisie death feelings and emotions. She knows she's a kind, young woman--who would want to kill her? Jealous friends, envious brothers, devious party guests and angry neighbors may have a motive. As the police investigate, Maisie comes to realize her life was not quite as she remembered.

Author Larmer spins a unique twist in this afterlife mystery. We see the struggles and emotions come to light as Maisie remembers the events of the evening and life changing moments. Will the killer/cause of death be revealed, or will Maisie remain in an afterlife limbo? An intriguing read, one that will keep you guessing!

Do Not Go Alone C. A. Larmer (Prologue + 30 chapters + Epilogue) April 27-28, 2022

This book did not make me want to read further books. I am not even sure why I downloaded this book after reading the first in the series.

A woman dies and an investigation is launched to discover who killed her and why. The victim is a ghost that needs to solve the mystery before moving on.

It was sad in many ways for me, especially when discovered the truth. Perhaps I was in the wrong state of mind when I read this.

Overall, a good mystery, but certainly this is not a cosy mystery, so be warned.

Two stars.

When twenty seven year old Maisie is found dead on the floor of her father’s office during a pool party at her own house, her spirit lingers on to work out how and why she died. Her death looks like a suicide, but it maybe it was staged. She knows she was depressed about losing her job and moving back to her parents house but it wasn’t that bad was it? If only she could remember her actual death. There are a few suspects and quite a few odd things going on in that house but it will take Maisie a while to put it all together. This is an enjoyable mystery and surprisingly fun for a novel narrated by a recently dead person!

Posthumous mystery

I enjoyed this book. It is strange to be reading from the deceased point of view, sometimes confusing. I am a big fan of the Murder Club so I decided to see what what else this author had to offer. The two posthumous mysteries were good. I would encourage you to try this series. So far all of this authors books have been great.
I did enjoy trying to see who was the murderer, I would not make a great detective but it was great fun trying.

even better then the first posthumous mystery

What did I like ? The mystery and the suspense thru the entire story.
But the most beautiful is the ending.

I am a fan of C. A. Larmers mystery books. The posthumous stories are a little different from her other mystery books, and this one is very special. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
