Amazon Top 15 Bestselling author and lover of forbidden romances, tacos, coffee, and wine, Q.B. Tyler gives readers sometimes angsty, sometimes emotional but always deliciously steamy romances featuring sassy heroines and the heroes that worship them. She's best known for writing forbidden (and sometimes taboo) romances, so if that's your thing, you've come to the right place. When she's not writing, you can usually find her on Instagram (definitely procrastinating), shopping or at brunch.
i liked it but it was also superrrr corny, the smut was good though. skylar being obsessed with being italian was annoying as fuck. it sucks that the author is black but the main character is white :/
Ok first of all, I’m Italian. The main character here is “Italian as well, and it was laughable. Her Italian is mediocre at best (sometimes outright innacurate) and do’t get me started on her “expertise on recipes. Parsely AND basil? Girl please, you’re killing me.🤣🤣
RTC cause I’m walking, I just needed to get that off my chest NOW🤣
This was a fun, steamy time! Aiden and Skyler meet on a dating app and have a hot one night stand. The next Monday, Skylar realizes that Aiden is her professor. But the two just can't keep their hands off of each other. I really loved the beginning of this book and the angst of the two really wanting each other but knowing that it's completely off limits. I didn't love how picture perfect the epilogue was, but that's just personal preference. I wanted a fun taboo time and that's exactly what this book gave me!
QB Tyler writes a great forbidden romance. This is between a professor and his student who meet and develop something before they realize that he is her prof. Skyler and Aidan can't stay away from each other, even though they know it's risky to be together. This was a little too short for me- I wanted more of their stories.
pretty good forbidden novella. it was quite corny and there was too much horny aidan going on. he’s a thirty two year old who couldn’t keep it in his pants for even a day. skylar was a normal nineteen year old tbh. she didn’t stand out to me all that much since i couldn’t relate to her in any way. the sex was pretty good. i feel like things went way to fast, they met once and then skylar had attachment issues and fell in love with him from a one night stand. the plot was eh. buddy read with bff giada <3
This is a student-teacher, age gap romance. The FMC is 19 and the MMC is 32. Skylar, the FMC was a little younger than I like for age gap romances but the student-teacher trope used to have such a chokehold on me that I didn’t mind too much. Although, everyone seemed a bit immature (Aiden even more so than Skylar), but even the side characters were immature. Like what 32 year old says “vibe unironically? Since it was a novella there were some parts that felt a little rushed but overall I enjoyed this book! It was quick and fun with no OW/OM drama really so a great novella between books.
the first 15% of this was SO promising 😭 but then the spice began and it completely took me out of the story. dont get me wrong, im here for a taboo spicy novella, but the writing of those spicy scenes was bad. there is a very clear difference between good and bad smut in my own personal preferences, and “no one else gets to smell your c*** but me, Skyler definitely falls into the bad category. also, can we STOP using the word assault to describe *consensual* sex scenes? thats all, thank you, bye.
10/10. spice level? wow. cuteness? perfect. QB Tyler really knows how to write a GOOD romance story. I mean, I was enraptured since page one!
I love both characters, Skyler and Aidan, so much. They were easy to love. So, basically they both have an epic one-night stand before classes start, thinking they're not going to see each other in school. Skyler lies and tells him she's 22 and in grad school. But in reality, she's undergrad and 19 years old. And he's her new professor for the semester.
As always, I love how QB writes forbidden relationships. You are never in doubt how both of them feel which is very nice, because sometimes forbidden romances make you unsure from time to time. It was the same when I read What Was Meant to Be. Like you never doubted the love and them loving each other wasn't the issue in the story, it was all the problems around them. How are we going to be in this relationship when this is going on? And they just have to figure out how to work through this obstacle and do it together.
I so want to read the next books in this series because this one was so much fun. It's so easy to read, short, and super entertaining. There is not one boring moment and I feel like QB is incapable of writing a boring moment ngl.
Before I physically had this book in my hands, I wasn’t aware that it was only 177 pages. I’ve never read a book that short (is it considered a novella? I have no idea) but basically once I realized there was no possible way there was enough room for a full fledged, fully built up story I lowered my expectations and decided to just see what can possibly happen in such a short amount of time and just enjoy the ride.
So with that mindset, I really loved it. I didn’t expect the 🥵 scenes to intrigue me as much as they did since I usually need a solid build up relationship wise to make me care for those moments but somehow I really vibed with the characters right off the bat and totally enjoyed this whole book.
I would have for sure have been down for it to be closer to 300 pages and have more to it but instead it gave me sexy student/teacher forbidden romance porno vibes and I enjoyed it for exactly what it was.
I’m usually a big critiquer, and I can totally point out things here and there if I felt like over analyzing the crap out of this short story but since I knew going into this that I had to keep my expectations low (considering I’m not generally a quick, spicy novella type of gal) I ended up being pleasantly surprised by this quick short story.
I WANTED to read this. I really did. I love the student teacher trope so I was excited.
Unfortunately, the heroine was just sooooo awful. She was a spoiled, arrogant, brat. Those are the nicest things I could say about her. All she did was whine and complain. She was too smart to go to college! She wanted her parents to just pay for her to travel the world like she did the past year! All the colleges fought over having her! Why did the other students have to buy cheap liquor? gross!
She was the worst. Still, since I had just DNFed two other books, I tried to push on. This is my favorite trope after all. Then she stumbles across the hero on a dating app. His profile came off as a total bro. This guy is supposed to be a professor. Nope. I'm done. Not doing it.
If you can stand an awful heroine and a hero that goes against the trope, hey, maybe this is for you. I'd rather gouge out my eyes.
Another brilliant taboo tale from QB Tyler. In FIRST SEMESTER, the first book in the Campus Tales series we meet Aidan who is a college professor, and Skyler who is his student. This is a fairly quick read, but it’s jam packed full of delicious forbidden moments between our two main characters. I have to give a shout out to the supporting characters too, (Chace, Peyton and Serena) I loved them and really hope they all get their own story at some point!!
This gets intense quickly. Insta love, lots of filth and an age gap are all packed into this 177 page book. You would think this would feel rushed, but the pacing is actually quite well done. Glad I have the next 2 books in the series, can't wait to see who's in them. *fingers crossed for Peyton & Chase*
I read this while on vacation with my family and definitely hid from them so I could devour this book. Sorry not sorry for prioritizing smut over eating a turkey club with my grandma. Anyway.
After reading Love Unexpected and Unconditional last month and loving them, it should come as no surprise that I loved this one too. I always love a good forbidden student/professor dynamic and the inherent tension and buildup that comes with it—longing glances, dirty text messages, and office and stairwell trysts between classes. I eat that shit UP.
The spice was chef's kiss. It's always nice when book boyfriends are passionate about going downtown on their lady, but I feel we don't get enough reciprocation of that passion. Skyler was just as eager to lick Adrian's lollipop as he was hers, and we truly love to see it.
This is a quick and steamy read by QB Tyler. It’s not as angsty or deep as the other books I’ve read by her, Unconditional being my absolute favourite. This one is lighter and fluffier, even though the professor/student relationship is “forbidden. The book is really quite short at only 180 pages, and it effectively introduces the couple from the next book in the series.
First Semester is the first book in Q. B. Tyler’s Campus Tales series. It’s a forbidden, teacher x student, college romance. Oh and the spice!! Very hot!
This was my first time reading one of Q. B. Tyler’s books and it will NOT be the last! I had a blast reading First Semester and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!!
I absolutely loved this professor/ student novella by QB Tyler!! I devoured this book in one sitting. It was sooo steamy and sexy. I couldn’t get enough.
before i start this review, i want to share some of my favorite quotes from this: "He lets out a guttural moan, from deep in his throat and comes with a roar." (animalistic) "I tug on a patch of her pubic hair gently." (affectionate king!) “Aidan, look at me.(joey king?) "Her cry makes my balls jump up, preparing to release my seed inside of her." (adorable) "Fuck. I love when she squirts." (piss kink. yum)
this was some of the worst shit ive ever laid eyes on. read this bc of a tiktok recommendation. wowie wow, short book with smut and an age gap? sign me up. i remember around two years ago when i was in my prime wattpad phase. i was reading thirty chapters a day, neglecting all my school work just so i could finish a story i started. there was a point where i stumbled onto ddlg smut. since its wattpad, you can imagine the quality of that. this book reminds me of that smut. i felt like this was written by a sixteen year old who just had the birds and the bees talk with their parents. let me summarize it for you. "hey," "hi," "soo... nice weather." "yeah hahahahaha." "sleep well last night?" "yeah, you?" "my chica my bella my italian dream i have loved you since we were eighteen please carry my children." "ok" boo-hoo, romance. everybody high five me for getting through this. never again.
First Semester was an awesome read for me that I loved from beginning to end. Skylar is a young woman who just moved to DC for school and is getting over a broken heart. On her first night there she meets a neighbor who talks her into going out. Lets just say from this point on Skylar makes a dating site profile, says she's 22 and hooks up with the gorgeous Aidan. Little does Skylar know her little white lie has consequences and is in front of her class on Monday morning. Aida is shocked that the beautiful girl he can't stop think about is his student. So we have lots of sneaking around, delicious chemistry, a little heartbreak and a HEA. I'm looking forward to reading book 2.
This is my first Q.B Tyler book, and I was expecting a lot from the premise of it being a forbidden age-gap romance between a student and her professor. I haven't read this type of romance trope in a very long time since I'm a fan of this trope, so I was excited to get my hands on it.
To say that I struggled with the book is a bit of a stretch. At first, it was definitely promising, but eventually it just turned into a smut fest. I usually don't mind a lot of smut in books, but I always have a fine line wherein it's just mostly smut and no more plot - and it definitely crossed the line for me. I just found myself skipping through those parts (which is a lot), so I could get into the story more. The story itself is predictable and cliche-y, which I already expected, but it really had more potential to become something more if coaxed.
This book just really had the potential to be a great one, but sadly, it just didn't work out for me.
4'5 stars. This is a fantastic age gap novella! This is student/ teacher forbidden. Tbh since this is a shorter book i loved how things progressed without months of miscommunication. Aiden and Skylar meet at a bar before school starts and have insane chemistry right away, then they realize he's her teacher. This was hot and everything i would want from a novella like this!
