I had a lot of weekend road trips in August so I devoured the first five Sandy Bay Cozy Mysteries. The Audible narrator (Elena Marino) is perfect for the material. These novels pair well with M&Ms and are just about the right length to complete in the time it takes to get from one Buc-ee’s to the next one down a Texas interstate highway.
Meghan Truman's bakery, Truly Sweet, is finally doing well despite earlier setbacks. She gets a strange visit from a lady named Stephanie. Stephanie has asked for her advice on how to open a bakery. Meghan, being the kind soul that she is, sits down with her and gives her advice. She does not realize that this kindness will come back to bite her when Stephanie opens her very own bakery directly across the street. Oddly enough her desserts taste exactly like some of Meghan's own personal recipes. Bad deeds rarely go unpunished, but this time Meghan's best friend, Karen, is the suspect. Meghan is determined to prove her innocence. This was a short, sweet book, but it was also an enjoyable read. With every book I go through in this series, I enjoy the characters more and more!
Meghan is doing well with her bakery,Truly Sweet...until,that is a new lady comes in asking information about Sandy Bay. Next thing she knows, Duly Doux ,a new bakery is opened up by Stephanie Cameron who is the new face in town. Suddenly all of Meghan's customers are at the new bakery and the desserts are identical to hers!! Confrontations arrise and harsh words are exchanged . A bit later the body of Stephanie is found in her bakery! Meghan's best friend,Karen, is put in jail because she was over heard threatening to kill Stephanie buy the customers in the Duly Doux. Then, Stephanie's ex-husband shows up demanding money. Who killed Stephanie?? What's going on in Sandy Bay? This is a great cozy mystery. I recommend this book to everyone who likes a good cozy mystery.
A nice quick read but frankly she is a bit naive. The cookbook should have been safely in the kitchen especially if she is helping someone set up a business that is in her own line. The culprit though was a surprise as thought it was someone else entirely. Helping a fellow woman with advice on how to run a successful bakery has bitten her back hard. The woman had stolen her recipes and her shop (just across the street from hers) was packed whilst hers was empty. When the woman turns up dead, her senior BFF is arrested. She isn't guilty and she has to prove it. Throw in a bad apple ex-husband, news that the bakery across the street was being sold and loss of business from the corporate firms she had agreements with throw her for a loop. Can she clear her friend and find the culprit?
Small towns are supposed to be layed back and peaceful, aren't they?Writer Amber Crewes shows a different side of a small seaside town, murder, mayhem and Secrets are on the menu in Sandy Bay.A dysfunctional array of colourful caracters mixed with the sweetest growing group of friends that continue to foyal dastardly plans. You won't want to miss out on all the fuss. I'ts time for you to join the fallowers of Amber Crewes's cozey murder mysterys. 🤔🙄😊 Kat
Meghan is finally having success in her bakery. Then another bakery opens across the street in Sandy Cove. You have stolen recipes, then her best friend Karen is put in jail for the murder of Stephanie the new bakery owner.. The new bakery gets all the business. Meghan tries to solve the murder. The characters are believable and likable. The storyline is interesting. Elana Marino is the Narrator and maintains your interest. You have to read to see how the story goes.
Eclairs and Lethal Layers (Sandy Bay Cozy Mystery Book 5), my sixth read from author Amber Crewes. Well-written & enjoyable. another cute, clean cozy mystery. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Elena Marino who was absolutely outstanding. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author as I get them. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Meghan is new in town, and her bakery is doing good. When another woman comes to town and wants to open a bakery, she comes to Meghan for advice. Later she opens her bakery, right across the street from Meghan's, and somehow got Meghan's recipes and most of her customers. Then she ends up dead. Meghan investigates, and almost ends up dead, too. Pretty good book.
Very nice short cozy mystery on audiobook about Meghan Truman who comes to Sandy Bay with intentions to open a bakery and is happy to share baking tips and some business advice. Meghan finds out she is too trusting and a girl she meets steals her recepie and gets one of her largest client. As always in a cozy mystery someone turns up dead and civilians want to solve the murder.
A new girl comes to Sandy Bay with intentions to open a bakery. Meghan Truman shares baking tips and some business advice. The new girl steals her secret recipe and branding and her biggest corporate order. Then she's found dead. Yum. I enjoyed this cozy read. Took me back to my baker days in the Navy. I could smell the pastries in the bakery - the descriptions that good.
Another short and truly sweet (yes, pun on the bakery name intended) mystery for Meghan who had even more of an interest after her bestie Karen was arrested for murdering Meghan's competition. There were several possible suspects and even in a book this short, I wasn't completely sure until the end. The showdown was nail biting and good with a super cute ending!
This is the first of the series I have read. It was a fast paced mystery that was a fun read. Based in a small seaside town a new women moves to town and starts a bakery. As it gets off to a good start the owner is murdered. Look forward to reading more of the stories.
Another who-dun-it murder mystery in the sleepy town of Sandy Bay. Seems like the sleepy town has a lot of crime for a peaceful little town, doesn’t it. Meghan once again plays detective better than the police officers somewhat.
Overall, not bad or good. Just kind of there. Easy to identify the murderer once they appear in the book. But it was enjoyable.
A good addition to the series! I love reading how characters evolve over the series and this does it justice! It's not necessary to read the whole series to understand and I look forward to the next adventure!
"Everyone can be brave when they have to" is a line from the book and its indeed true if one is a baker in Sandy Bay 😀 I hope there are many more adventures ahead.
A fun quick read. Megan's bakery is in danger when a bakery is opened right across the street and she loses her customers. A must read to discover the goings on I Sandy Bay.
A fast paced cozy mystery. When Megan's rival bakery owner is found dead , she has to figure out fast who dun it or her friend will take the fall. Good storyline and twist on her the culprit was . kept me guessing til the end ,
All of the usual components for a cozy mystery. Suspense, humor and of course a little romance to lighten up the inevitable, troublesome murder. Well done!
Going back and reading this series in order ...although in reality you can't believe this much happens to one person, but yet, i am loving the series!!
