As a former member of the United States Secret Service, I’m no stranger to putting my life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills I acquired during my tenure in Washington have made me a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor to protect his niece, I find myself on the fast track back to the Oval Office.

Simply put she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, the President isn’t willing to take chances with her life.

As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, I decide taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation, and attraction ensure we grow closer than I’d ever thought possible. When I realize I want to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with my job and everything to do with the woman I’ve fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell I’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

"It feels almost dreamlike."

Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security. Although it is the second book in the installment, it can certainly be read as a stand-alone. When Cruce Britton is called on the job to protect a young woman in danger, he never expected this job to be the job that would change his entire world! Bennett Alexander is a scientist (and the President's Niece) and she is in danger. A workaholic and an avid runner, Bennett wants nothing but to work on science and keep her head down. When Cruce and Bennett begin to spend time together, the attraction is combustible. But can Cruce keep it professional with Bennett or will he give in to the attraction and find his HEA?

"I'm her protector and she's a job for which I'll be well compensated."
Told in dual POV, Code Name: Sentinel is an action-packed contemporary romance with intrigue and a complex plot. Bennett is a strong heroine who isn't afraid to assert herself in order to get what she wants. Cruce is swept away by Bennett and her tenacity and the two make a perfect couple! As always, Sawyer Bennett presents a carefully crafted romance with passion, suspense, and romance!
"I'm at a dangerous crossroads."
Overall, Sawyer Bennett has done it again with another page-turner that exudes passion and intensity through each and every moment! I am never surprised when I finish a Sawyer Bennett book because of her complex characters, strong alpha men, and sultry passion! Readers who enjoy a passionate contemporary romance with non-stop action will enjoy meeting Bennett and Cruce!

Code Name: Sentinel is the second book in the Jameson Force Security series. This time we get to follow retired Secret Service agent Cruce Britton as he's brought back onto the White House scene when the President's niece is targeted. Bennett Alexander is one of the world's leading energy scientist and she's getting close to changing the world with clean energy. Her life revolves around her work, but with the threat getting closer to her she has no other choice but to leave DC and let Cruce take her somewhere she can't be find. With just the two of them together she finds that work isn't the only thing in life and taking a break, especially with Cruce, isn't such a bad thing.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Cruce and Britton were the complete opposite of each other, and I actually thought we'd see some tension between them because of that. But that wasn't the case, instead we had so many moments where the chemistry sparked between them and I loved getting to see that. The attraction mixed with the suspense of trying to figure out who was after Britton and why had me captivated.

This story focuses mainly on Cruce and Britton but there's always a member of the Jameson Security team somewhere in the background and I loved getting to see parts of those other characters. So far I've loved every member that we've been introduced to and with every new member we meet I get more and more excited to read more of this series. There's so much to look forward to from this series and I definitely recommend reading it.

Overall: 2 Stars
Story: 2 Stars
Performance: 4 Stars

The story
Basically insta-love, something I'm not a fan of. We get told that they had these deep conversations but I wanted to be there with them. The days flew by, they became closer by hanging out together but I just couldn't feel it. I also couldn't connect to either of the characters because of that. Everything seemed a bit shallow.
Then there was that foreboding when reading/listening to romantic suspense. When it came true (of course it did 🤦‍♀), it made me so freaking angry and frustrated, which tbh I absolutely hate when reading. I guess book protagonists don't read romantic suspense to know any better lol.

The narration
I had some small initial difficulties with Jason Clarke's voice because it was just SO deep and rumbly that I really had to strain to understand what he'd just said lol but I'm 100% sure my foreign ears were at fault. It definitely got better with time until I understood him completely without anymore straining haha so no reduction of stars because of that. I really liked his sexy voice; his narration sounded very natural. The same goes for Lucy Rivers. Very pleasant to listen to even though I have to say that her male voices were a bit cringy.

I know I gave the performance 4 stars and the story 2 stars which should make my overall rating a 3 but I just couldn't become friends with the story which in the end, had more weight in my decision to rate the book the way I did. This is probably an it's-not-you-it's-me situation so don't let my review keep you too much from listening or reading if you think this might be something you'd enjoy. Sawyer Bennett's writing was, as always, top-notch.

Code Name: Sentinel was the second book in Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Force Security series.

Cruce Britton was a former Secret Service Agent. He became a national hero when a heroic effort saved the VP’s life. When the VP was elected President, Cruce moved on and began working for Jameson Security.

Barrett Alexander was a genius scientist working on a new exploration that would change the world. She was also the niece to the President and when her life was threatened, Jameson Security was hired to keep her safe. Not only was she intelligent, she was beautiful, independent, and singularly focused on her job.

Although Code Name: Sentinel demonstrated the relationship development between Cruce and Barrett, it also had a suspenseful plot as the focal point. It was a fast paced, entertaining, (mostly) lighthearted and quick read.

True to form, Bennett’s supporting cast was strong. We had quick glimpses into Cruce’s teammates, setting the stage for future books in the series. Next up is Cruce’s best friend at Jameson, Saint, in Code Name: Heist.

This series about the Jameson Force Group is turning into a fast favorite. Each member has special qualities they bring to the table to assist on missions. Every new edition, I seem to love them even more. And getting to hear the story come to life is amazing. I truly enjoy having Jason Clarke crooning in my ear. He has the ability to be gruff and commanding as well as sensitive and sympathetic, so all the emotions. This is my first time listening to Lucy Rivers and I feel she did a great job depicting Barrett, although I wasn’t a fan of her male voices.

Cruce Britton had a successful career with the Secret Service and has now joined Kynan and his team in Pittsburgh. He knows people in high places, so when the President asks for a meeting, he and Kynan make their way to DC and see what their services are needed for. President Alexander’s niece is in danger and he wants the best man to protect her. Cruce has formed a trusting relationship with him, and there is no better man to handle this delicate situation. What starts out as a small threat, escalates quickly with no other option but to go off the grid.

Barrett Alexander is a genius. She has multiple degrees including two PhDs, so to say she’s smart is an understatement and she is now working on a top secret project for the government. She is one of those characters that is oblivious to what’s happening around her and concentrates on her job solely. She needs Cruce to protect her but she also learns he can teach her a thing or two in relaxing, among other activities to fill in the time they spend together.

This story begins with some anxious tension, leads into sexual tension and then flips into a fast paced mission. Cruce is definitely one to have on your team. He is very dependable and capable of getting a job done right the first time. His devotion for Barrett was adorable. She was super sweet too. I loved her smarts and her tremendous strength in hanging in there. She just needs to believe in miracles and other’s abilities. This book is an excellent addition to the collection and I’m happy to know there are two more books to come.

Great second book!

Just like the first one it's so very exciting and suspensy and mysterious and dangerous and sexy and fun. I loved Cruce and Barrett. And all the other guys and girls too. This could be such a great TV Show!!!!

I love books where our heroes know the president and they help save the world or in this case the niece. Adorable!

I didn't much like that the super genius did such a stupid thing that one time - but pfft - somehow the bad guys had to find them ;)

It was still a really good story - nothing much more to say.

Great romantic suspense! Can't wait to read the next book in this series!

And here we go again with my AS rant - I'll put it in a spoiler thingy - it doesn't spoil - it's just not something that bothers anyone other than me

In today’s global warming crisis, finding alternate clean energy sources are vital. Sawyer Bennett incorporates this delivering a steamy and energizing (pun intended) romantic suspense that kept me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. I absolutely devoured this story and can't wait to read more!

Exceptional scientist Barrett Alexander is on the brink of an energy breakthrough that will change the world. It also makes her a target for terrorists and her uncle, the president of the United States, isn’t willing to risk her safety.

When he left the secret service to work for Jameson Force Security, Cruce Britton never imagined he’d be back in Washington by request of the president. He’s put his life in harm’s way before, but putting his heart on the line is completely foreign but he knows he’ll do anything to keep Barrett safe.

Bennett pens a story brimming with edge-of-your seat excitement perfectly emphasized by a sizzling romance and fueled by danger and an exotic isolated location. As Cruce and Barrett travel to a secluded island to evade her would-be abductors, the two act on their attraction while getting to know one another. But even though the might be complete opposites in many ways, their love story reminds us of living life to its fullest and without regret.

Just as I love the start of a new series and the prospect of meeting a new group of cheaters, I also adore the subsequent books in which we not only get each of their stories but also updates on previous characters from the series.

Code Name: Sentinel is book #2 of the Jameson Force Security series by author Sawyer Bennett. It’s written from both points of view with a happy ending and no cliffhanger.

Omg Cruce is amazing I luv him !!

This series is brilliant so far. I luvd the first so much but this book was just had good. I was excited when I found out this book was goin to be Cruce. He found him mysterious in the first book and was looking forward to getting to know more about him. This guy is super sexy and a hero. No he is a hero he saved the US President from getting shot. But he has stepped down and is now working with the Jamison guys. But his first mission ends up being for the US President and it's to protect his niece Barrett.

Barrett I luv this woman. She is so hard-working all this woman has done is work she hasn't really loved a life like a normal young woman. Her work means everything to her and what she does is important. But now her work is causing drama cause the formula she is working on is wanted by someone else and there so long to do anything to get it from her. Even with this all goin on she is still funny at times and is up beat I really liked her and her personality. When things were getting worst everyday she still did has they asked she never fought them she just listened and did it. She might not of been happy but she just kept her head up and did it. Barrett hasnt had the easiest of lives but she has dealt well with it. The President might be her uncle but she was so close to him and after everything she has been through he means the world to her and she will do anything to make him happy.

I really enjoyed this book it kept me in my toes throughout the whole book. I was dying to know who was causing all the trouble for Barrett. It was really good to see the walls start to come down with Cruce. His work is important to him and he takes it really serious but it hard to stay that why when you have a gorgeous intelligent woman living with and near you. There attraction to each other was hot they were really great together and were good for each other. They both needed each other to take themselves away from work. It was a break they both needed. I'm really looking forward to more of this series I can't wait for Bebe and Saints books. There characters have caught my interest and I dying to know more about them. I would highly recommend this book and series.

3.5 rounded up to 4 Stars!

I’m a bit mixed on this one. I liked the characters but I’m not sure I felt their attraction to one another. The storyline was interesting but at times it felt rushed and at other times it seemed to drag.

I will say the suspense in this book was off the page once it hit a certain point. I’m a “scaredy cat and so this was intense for me but it did have me completely engrossed during that part of the book.

I will continue with the series even though I can tell this will probably be my least favorite book from Jameson Force Security.

I absolutely love when the brain is the sexiest part of a person, don't get me wrong Barrett Alexander is a beautiful woman but her brain is magnificent! She is working on a formula that can change the world as we know it, her Uncle the President of the United States, is hoping she can help third world countries but there are people out there that don't want that to happen. Hence the need for Jameson Force Security.

Cruce Britton saved the President's life when he was with the Secret Service so who better to protect his niece? Well, lets just say that the President didn't expect the chemistry that the two had because both of them are such workaholics nothing seems to come before that.

The chemistry was amazing but when you add in the suspense of being hunted down and having to hide on a remote island it brings it defcon level 1. HOT HOT HOT

is the second book in the and each can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading this series in order because prior couples are bound to pop up which happened in this book, but again it's just a recommendation not a requirement.

Happy Reading!!!

Cruce and Barrett were dynamite!

I love the bodyguard romance trope and this one was fantastic! Barrett was super smart she was a scientist after all but she was also likable and down-to-earth even with her family being who they were. Danger was stalking her but luckily those connections, and Cruce, were up to the challenge. He was a newcomer to the Jameson group but he knew just what to do when the President called

Oh yes, this story had it all. Spine-tingling intrigue and suspense as well as heart-tickling chemistry between Cruce and Barrett. Cruce was strong and protective (which always works with me) and matched up with Barrett’s brainy, nerdy character perfectly. If romance flourishing as bullets fly seems far-fetched then you have to read this story to prove that it can happen. Their story had a non-stop pace but nothing was rushed or forced as the plot deepened along with the romance

The banter between Cruce and Barrett was perfect as they tried to stay focused on the important things (staying alive of course) but failing happily. Characters, and a story to get lost in made this a great antidote for a horrible book funk

This was a great read and I enjoyed it even more than the first in the series (and I loved that story). Can’t wait for more! ~Diane, 5 stars

Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 3 stars
Story 4 stars

Jason Clarke continues to be one of my very favorite male narrators! He was amazing as Cruce and really embodied the over protective alpha hero so well. I love his range, switching from playful to serious, and also tackling both male and female voices. Even his British accent as Kynan had me swooning. Lucy Rivers' performance as Barrett unfortunately fell a little flat for me. I have listened to other titles narrated by her, but this time it just didn't work. I found her voice too monotone and her male and female voices were almost the same. When I read the ebook I loved Barrett (even if she does sometimes make some questionable decisions), but I just couldn't get on board with her chapters in the audiobook. Still a compelling and action filled listen, but I enjoyed Cruce's chapters much more.

Lots of action and excitement in the newest addition to the Jameson Force Security series. Previous characters from the first book appear, but Code Name: Sentinel can definitely be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this protector/forced proximity romance featuring Cruce and Barrett. They had wonderful chemistry and I loved the build up and tension between them. When things finally boil over with them, it was H-O-T!! I could see many of the scenes playing out in my mind like a movie. Parts of the book were a little predictable and others resolved a little too easily, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment. The epilogue left me with a smile on my face and I'm excited to see that Saint's story is next!

"It's easy to forget that I'm her protector and she's a job for which I'll be well compensated."

Oh my...this series just keeps getting better and better. As Jameson Force Security increases their number by hiring additional staff the possibilities are endless and exciting. I'm kind of a tech nerd myself so I really enjoy the hacking side of things as they work on their cases. I also enjoy the team/family atmosphere that's starting to build as they get used to working together and women are added to the mix.

These sexy security guys are the stuff that causes panties to disintegrate, especially when they use their bossy alpha growls to get their point across. I know that poor nerdy Barrett had no clue what she was in for when she was assigned 24/7 protection by a former United States Secret Service member who was, "—tall, strong, and has the face of an angel."

Being an energy scientist, her research usually has her so focused that she loses herself for hours without being aware of what's going on around her. But, this gorgeous guy doesn't allow her to ignore him. He makes sure that she stops to eat, drink and stretch occasionally. He even goes with her when she runs. Where do I sign up for this? The man, not the running.😉 The line forms here...

I loved Cruce and Barrett. I loved how independent she was but still could take "orders" when need be for her own safety. I loved her strength both mentally and physically. Cruce's protective instinct was (to me) his best quality and let's not forget the work ethic they both possessed. I loved that he didn't give into temptation right away. It made their relationship so much stronger at the end I think.

This series just got better! Bring on the next one - I'm more than ready to tackle the next obstical to finding HEAs for this group of friends!!!

ARC received for an honest review

Another Sawyer Bennett book on my Kindle - let me at it!

I enjoyed the first book in the Jameson series, but I really, really enjoyed Code Name: Sentinal.

Cruce and Barrett's story is a great romantic suspensy story with so much heat between our lovelies that you know that they are just going to burn up the sheets.

I did get frustrated at Barrett that time she did the one thing she was told not to do, and she had to know it was a stupid thing to do, right? Especially for someone at her genius level. However I know it had to play that way for the story to move forward. I wanted to slap her with my Kindle though!

I love the big, apha-y men of Jameson security. it was great getting more of Kynan and Joslyn, and there are so many great characters that just need to have their story told *cough cough Saint cough cough*

Please don't make me wait too long, Ms Bennett.

Cruce Britton was no newbie when it came to putting himself out front to protect his charge. Having had the honour of protecting the president, whilst he works for the secret service, he now found himself working at Jameson Force Security.

Barrett Alexander was the president’s niece, and when whispers of a threat to her became apparent amongst the underworld, the president didn’t look much further than the professional who had once saved his life. Their target was Barrett’s new found discoveries, given her breakthrough work within energy science.

This was a romantic suspense full of energy, quite literally. Barrett was the awkward geek, who spent all her time with formulas. Cruce portrayed Mr Serious, and nothing spelt serious like a protection detail on a desert island.

Alter, opposite and contradictory, this couple overlooked their differences to become a fireball in the making.

I loved how these characters were developed and their story was magnetic, easily.

Complementary copy gratefully received in return for an honest review.

I am so happy that this author decided to give us this spin off series. It's a great mix of romance and suspense. Although the focus is the Jameson Force team, this book focuses mostly on Cruce and Barrett.

Cruce is new to Jameson but pulls their resources together when the President calls in a favor. While protecting the President's niece, Cruce looses his heart along the way. He keeps saying no, no, no. But the heart wants what it wants.

Great get away setting. Reminded me a bit of Robinson Caruso--well maybe not--no coconut shell dishes or anything. Loved watching Cruce and Barrett get to know each other. Nice twist to the story. I didn't see the villain coming at all. Great to see some of the rest of the team again. Looking forward to their stories coming up.

Great book!

5 star Review Code Name Sentinel (Jameson Force Security #2) by Sawyer Bennett

AUDIO REVIEW:

The second book in the latest series from Sawyer Bennett is Cruce Britton and Barrett Alexander’s story.

This book was well written, exciting to read, emotional and at times intense as Cruce and Barrett struggle with the danger that Barrett suddenly finds herself in. The narration was spot on and really enhanced my emjoyment. Their voices were so pleasant to listen too.

Barrett is the niece of the US President and thanks to a breakthrough that will rock the entire world, the energy scientist’s life is now in danger. The one man the President knows he can depend on to keep her safe is Cruce, his former secret service agent, who is the latest recruit to the Jameson Security team.

Will Cruce be able to keep Barrett safe, or will the increasing threats and danger put her life in further jeopardy?

Complications arise when feelings become involved, as the chemistry and attraction quickly escalates between them.

What will happen to their blossoming romance once the danger is neutralized?

I really loved these characters and was captivated as Sawyer Bennett wove her story; in fact I was glued to the book from start to finish and I didn’t want it to end.The romance and suspense are well balanced and this was an exciting and intriguing read.

Code Name: Sentinel by Sawyer Bennett was a book that hooked me from the first page and kept me glued to my kindle. Romance suspense is not always my jam but man did I enjoy this one!

Bennett retains her character driven style and I immediately fell for Cruce and Barrett!

Barrett’s intelligence was the driver of this book proving yet again Bennett writes the heck out of a heroine and Cruce well it was so clear from early on that he felt something deep for Barrett, something different.

I loved the tie Cruce had to Barrett and I adored how his past plays right into the assignment he is given by The Jamieson Group.

Barrett and Cruce’s forever was perfect for them and the way these two professionals made it work brought a big smile to my face..

Oh and the epilogue the epilogue was MAGICAL! nope not telling.. read the book!

I am so excited for more of the Jamieson Force team to find their forever loves I have my calendars marked for Code Name: Heist, Saint’s story; Code Name: Hacker, YES Bebe gets a story; Code Name: Ghost.

For fans of Sawyer Bennett’s work. in this one you get a glimpse of a Fournier; as brother Malik returns home from his service as a Marine his brothers; Max and Lucas have happy’s in the authors Cold Fury Series!

<><> A Few Thoughts <><>
^^ ~ similar to the previous book, the heroine acts foolishly and the hero fails to protect the woman she loves, which puts her in danger. I hope the whole series isn’t going to be like this. Something original would be nice.

^^ ~ I missed the buildup of their connection. I was “told they spent time getting to know one another, but I wasn’t included in their conversations. So it was a missed opportunity to really be able to feel the connection they were building.

^^ ~ another predictable plot

<><> The Basics <><>
- Content Warning: kidnapping with torture (the scenes were fairly mild, but she was harmed), close to being raped while in captivity
- Setting: Washington D.C., Caribbean
- Do you need to read previous books in series?: I think it would be helpful to read the series in order. This book continues to build on the overall series.
- POV: Dual POV
- Tropes: security agent falls for the person he’s assigned to protect
- Hero likable? yes
- heroine likable? yes

- Did I swoon🥰? Cruce was a good guy, but I didn’t really swoon

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't had a chance to read the first book in this series yet, but as with all other Sawyer books that I've read, that didn't cause me an issue, as each book in this series is able to be read as a standalone.

Our main characters Cruce and Barrett are both really easy to like, and I was easily able to slip into their story and become involved. My fave was Cruce though, he's one hell of a man. Alpha tough, sweet on the inside, and a very honourable man. I loved him so much, and would love one of my own haha.

There were lots of great secondary characters to help build their world, and I really look forward to getting know more of them in future books of this series.

There was a couple of things in the book, mainly one big thing that Barrett did which was just plain silly and I wanted to smack her for it. It was integral to the story and something that needed to happen so we could get to the crux of the mystery and main issue behind everything however.

Once again another enjoyable and easy read from Sawyer Bennett, and I can't wait for more.
