This one was definitely better than the first and I think I give that credit to Jacob - who is by far the best character to come out of this series so far. I like how the author kept him very secretive literally up until the last minute. I don't think there was really one thing I didn't like about him.
Now, as for everyone else...I like PJ, he's entertaining and always good for a laugh. Amber, I really just don't get. Chad - no comment. Drea - hmph...bitch and worst friend ever (I don't think my opinion of her is ever going to change).
The story line of this book felt a little more suspensful than the first book and I think because it had to deal with Stacey directly and her possible death. I still wish Stacey would grow a backbone though and actually stand up for herself.
I got really bored of this book really fast and I'm really annoyed with Amber's character. This is a dnf for me and I don't think I'll be finishing this series.
Meh. This one was just okay. I know that teenagers aren't supposed to want to talk to parents but I don't know why these teens are still keeping secrets from each other. It just seems so obvious, after the year before, that they trust each other and actually communicate. It's another book of 200+ pages of everyone not talking or talking in riddles or not trusting each other. I'm just sure at some point they'd figure out the problem I'm sad that I felt like the 'bad guy' wasn't original or interesting. It was all just odd and felt disconnected from the first book - but I like the new clue and I like the new character of Jacob.
I'll still continue with the series because I'm curious to see where this goes.
I really like this one, it was super cute. It was sort of part murder mystery, part fantasy, and a lot of teen romance that just happens to play out perfectly. Yes, there is a bunch of crazy stuff happening in the background. But, there was a super cute love story in the mix as well. I really liked the two of them and the way that they seem to fit together. Of course, super realistic that these teens find each other amidst the chaos and fall absolutely in love.
Upon scrolling reviews before reading I did come across saying that this book was quite similar to the 1st in the series just with a few different characters and some things changed. Well - I like fun reads like this and these 'nightmares' are the way that Stacey 'sees' things. So of course I would expect this to be present in the second book as well.
Reading this book is like reading the first one in the series, blue is for nightmares. The same plot and characters, just changing names and a couple of things. That made me read really slow, as I was not interested in what is going to happen later. At least at the end, I recovered the interest for it and have a moment in there. The relationship between of Stacey with her boyfriend, mum or best friend was not developed or explained properly at all. Hopefully, the third one is going to be better and I can forget the bad remember of the second one.
Continuing my re-visitation of this series with this book. I have to say, this book was MUCH better than BIFN, so my review will be less harsh but still. Mostly my problems come from characters and their development. Shall we?
Stacey is having nightmares that SHE is in danger in this time around. She vomits instead of pees the bed which is probably worse. And, for whatever reason, her friends can't seem to find a reason to trust that her dreams mean something? Oh wait, except we have a whole first book to establish that her dreams mean something. It’s infuriating that they refuse to believe her at the beginning.
I have a huge issue with this problematic Drea/Stacey/Chad love-triangle subplot. At the end of BIFN, Drea gave Stacey full permission to date Chad. And now in this book, Drea is less than a friend to Stacey and flirts with Chad every second she gets. She flirts so hard that she forgets that Stacey is going to be murdered soon and should probably stop being an asshole. Drea is such a selfish, terrible character.
Chad is just a static being with no personality, just a shell of a hot teen who bounces from girl to girl no problem, and never has an arc. Boring boring boring.
Jacob, a male witch and also Stacey's new love interest is introduced. I want to know how he could be having dreams about a random girl in New England when he’s originally from Colorado? I don’t know why Stolarz couldn’t have written him closer but LOL I’ll just say it was supposed to be a symbol of *~fate~*. Thankfully Stacey dumps basic Chad to be with him, which is an upgrade I guess? Chad goes right back to Drea because they truly deserve each other.
Those are my problems with this book, but it was again, miles better than the first. The dream sequences are well written, the spells get more interesting, and Amber and Stacey have a real, actual friendship that I appreciate (save for Drea who I hate LOL).
White Is for Magic is about a girl Stacey who has nightmares but this time she is having nightmares about the girl she used to babysit who was killed, and the girl she was unable to save in the first book, (Blue is for Nightmares.) She is unable to figure out what these dreams mean until she meets a boy named Jacob who claims he is also having dreams but about Stacey. He tells her that he's having nightmares about her dying and that she's in danger. One day she gets a note telling her to go to a location where Veronica was killed last year. Once shes there she starts to hear Donovan's voice, Veronica's killer. She's walking down the halls until she is in a dark tool closet with the man who killed the girl she used to babysit, Miles. She wanted revenge and threatened him, but now he was threatening her. She was able to escape and the police showed up and arrested Miles. I personally loved loved loved this book, it was so much fun to read and when they introduced Jacob I really liked his character and how they showed his development throughout the book. 5/5, 100% recommend!!

is about Stacey again, and she is now dating Chad, and she is getting these weird notes again. she meets a guy named Jacob who is having nightmares about her. Jacob is mysterious, and he is always watching for her, and he always wants to talk alone with Stacey. Chad and Stacey are also having rough times, where chad thinks that Stacey is cheating on her with Jacob cause they were sitting together after curfew, and how Stacey thinks that chad and Drea were "doing more than what Stacey saw) Jacob also gives her a stone that means protection. then Stacey and Jacob were doing a spell, where they had to draw on each other, and Stacey gets a little crush on him lol. on the anniversary, she goes to the place where Leeman died, and she sees miles (who killed Maura) and Donovan (who killed Leeman.) in the end, she gets saved, she breaks up with chad, and she kissed Jacob (I really hope they date in the next book).

I have read this ages ago, and I have only a vague memory of liking it. I saw this in bookstore today and thought it would be interesting to read it again. I'll write an actual review as soon as I reread the series!
It was fine, I liked it but I'm not that enthusiastic about it. It was better that the first one (that I completely forgot) but I can't give it more that 3/5.
I enjoyed the story and I will finish the series no matter what haha
I was worried about reading this since it's been so long since I read the first book, but everything was recapped very nicely. White is for Magic is a great sequel and carries on the story easily. The characters are crazy and amazing, and it all felt really believable. While I'm not a fan of romance, I like how it was done in this book. It didn't feel rushed at all like most young adult novels these days. The plot was captivating and interesting. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.
3.5? Although I actually liked this one maybe a little more than the first. It still is majorly high-school and I feel the ending was a little rushed, but still super fun and some decent character development.
This book was about a girl name Stacey and how she's having nightmares, except the nightmares aren't just normal nightmares, their nightmares about murdered people she knows all while being stalked. In this book it talks about what she does about these nightmares, and how she meets someone who's having nightmares about her. I give this book 5 stars because I was very interested in the book because when you hit the end and finally figure out whats going on and knowing that reading the book was worth it at the end.

I did really enjoy this book, so its a 4 star for me. Something I think I liked during the reading was the ending. In the most of this series the end is always the best. I personally liked all the action in the ending. Example how Miles came back to take revenge on Stacey a they had a huge "battle" sence in the school closet. That part worried me because I thought "Omg this is where it ends." but NO. Stacey fought her way out which really impressed me. But I still personally find Sliver is for Secrets better than this one.

MY THOUGHTS This is going to sound very odd, but this series is like thriller candy! I enjoy reading these books!
This book is the sequel to Blue is for Nightmares and Stacey cannot get a break. After the murders and nightmares of last year, Stacey is dating Chase and trying at a sense of normalcy. But then the nightmares return. This time, it focuses of her past. On the girl she babysat once, but dies, and the girl who died last year. Stacey has to figure out what her nightmares are trying to tell her, along with figuring out a new student's, Jacob, motives.
This series, as I'm sure you're aware of, is a nice mixture of thriller and paranormal. Stacey is a witch and does do spells, used herbs, candles, and mixtures. The paranormal element of this series is very unique to the thriller genre and it doesn't upright make this book unrealistic. I can actually believe that Stacey is a witch, while do believing that the events in this book are completely realistic.
My issue with the plot would have to be the fact that it's a very common thriller. This might just be me though, as thrillers generally don't thrill me (hahaha). The plot line is very similar to other thriller books and that's one of my issue with thrillers in general. I still like them and I do enjoy reading them. While the plot is very common, it still had a sense of mystery and I didn't know what was to come!
As far as romance, this is a great series that realistically portrays romance. The romance does not takeover the book, just like romance shouldn't take over someone's life. Stacey and Chase's relationship is also rocky. I actually like this because most YA books have forever romances, where the love interest is always the love interest. I also didn't really like them together in the first place. I'm kind of shipping Stacey and Jacob...
IN CONCLUSION This is a great continuation to the series. As I said, this is thriller candy. I enjoy reading these books, but they are not favorites of mine. This book has the common thriller plot, with a paranormal twist, which I did like, but didn't wow me. I do recommend continuing this series.
What would you do if one of your friends has really bad nightmares and suffering from that all night? Stacey Brown is the one who has really bad nightmares and can predict the future. A year before, Stacey Brown had saved her best friend, Drea, from a death through the nightmares. Now, she is having nightmares again about something. One day, she meet guy named Jacob. And he said he is from Colorado and having nightmares about Stacey so he moved to here, where Stacey lives, to save her. First time, Stacey didn’t believe Jacob but Jacob is the one who really helped Stacey when she was in the danger. Jacob is really interesting character because he was the one who saved Stacey and can understand her because of their nightmares. I like Stacey but if I were Stacey, I would think about my nightmares joyfully. It’s kind of creepy when I have a nightmare but I would like to think about it. Laurie Stolarz did a great job on writing story in interesting way and little mysterious but I hope Jacob has more part to him than Stacey. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries and magic. This book is for all ages. Genre of this book is realistic fiction and mystery. And compare to Blue is for Nightmares, I really enjoyed White is for Magic because two reasons. New character, Jacob is new and he is really interesting character. And second, if you read Blue is for Nightmares, you can understand this book more easily.
This book was alright. Not quite as good as the first in my opinion, but okay enough. I’m going to be completely honest here and say that going into this series, I had such high hopes for it, and while there’s nothing actually wrong with the storyline, or the writing or anything like that.....it just seems to me like it falls short. I can’t exactly put my finger on what it is that the book is lacking, and while I want to love it, I really do...... I just can’t. There are some parts in the story where I just find myself incredibly bored and I want nothing more than for it to be finished. There’s something missing and I don’t know what it is. It leaves me frustrated. The story as usual was filled with mystery and keeps you guessing as to just what the clues mean until the last minute. Stacey was as cool as she was in the first book, although at times I felt like she spent too much time focusing on things that weren’t important instead of just taking action. After how the last book ended, I will say I was slightly disappointed to see how downhill Stacey’s and Chad’s relationship had gone. However I found I did like Jacob, and I look forward to seeing how his relationship with Stacey progresses. I think Drea and Chad should be together, they seem good for one another.
I’ll read the rest of the series, seeing as I already bought the books, but I don’t think I’m as desperate to as I was with other books.

This is one of the few books where I just said to myself "ok, that's it. I give up." and tossed it away. I stumbled accross the third book of the series months ago, not knowing it was part of a series and I loved it. I even cried at the end of it and I don't cry that easily. So I decided I might aswell give the entire series a try. Worst idea I've ever had. The first book was OK, I'll give Stolarz this, the storyline was exciting, the characters were not the most interesting but were funny and (kinda) likeable , it was full of suspense etc. The second book just ruined it with a storyline just a little too close to the first book, and characters with terrible personalities. I can't review the entire book since a) I didn't finish it and b) I don't particularly enjoy reviewing a book I didn't like but I'll just add that if you really want to read this series you might aswell skip this book.
Great book. Gives a lot of interesting details about spells and so separates itself from other teen books with an unusually gifted teenager. Loved the inclusion of Jacob. The book wraps you up in its mystery so that you're racing to get to the end, just like the first one. The killer's easier to pick out in this one than in the first book, though.
The one thing I have a beef with is that being a Christian, I hate seeing God's name uncapitalized. If an author doesn't believe in God and doesn't want to offend readers, I think the author should have just written "oh my gosh" instead. Then again, I guess most people would figure Christians wouldn't be reading a book about magic in the first place...
One word of advice: don't eat anything while reading this book! I did just that when I was beginning it and was grossed out by her describing how she puked and wipes the "spooge" off. There is a heck of a lot of vomiting going on in this book!
The first book of the series, Blue is for Nightmares, was okay. I found this novel to be basically a rehash of the first one, in terms of plot and character growth. Most of it dragged along and I found myself wanting to skip entire sections, particularly the extreme detail the author put into Stacey's New Age rituals. I suppose the book would be more appealing to junior high school students who also have an interest in Wicca. The ending was so obvious that I ended up skimming over it - yes, even during the climax. Needless to say, this is the last book from this series that I'll be reading. I wasn't expecting much, but it was disappointing to find that something with what sounded like an interesting premise turned out to be about as dull and forgettable as the protagonist's name, Stacey Brown.
I read Blue is for Nightares like 3-4 year ago. I've been wanting to get ahold of these books but haven't been able to. Finally I picked it up yesterday and started reading it.
This book was amazing. I wasn't sure how I was going to manage with it being so long ago having read the frst book, but I found no problems. Anything I may have forgotten was mentioned in this book and I wasn't feeling lost. I still think Stacy is a "basic white girl" name though. It just makes me laugh.
This series is perfect to read right around October because it's the right amont of creepy and weird. I'm in love with this series so far, though. I love trying to solve the mystery just as much as Stacy is throughout the book. Though I was pleasantly surprised and it was who(me) I thought it would be. gah,
I seriously reccomend this book, even if my sorry excuse, of a review was lame.
I first came across BIFN years ago--like 8 years. And I loved it. I still love it. I'm finally reading the rest of the series. I thought this was a great addition. Aside from being very similar to the first--which I sort of liked, gave me a slasher flick sequel sort of vibe, the book was great. I love the characters. I was sort of sad to see Chad and Stacey end things. We never really got to see them when they were happy together. But I do love Jacob and I'm excited to read about them in the next book. I loved the storyline. I figured out who the stalker was a while before the ending but it was still awesome!
2nd read 10/11/22: Still so freakin fun and good! I will always love Amber’s comedic relief.
*Spoilers* Literally the exact same storyline as the first book, the climax even happens in the same location. I was really hoping this would be better then the first but the author just slapped some new characters in a reused the plot from the first. The whole dating the best-friends ex boyfriend thing was just as annoying as it was in the first book, seriously what friend does that!? And the mystery person who is tormenting stacey was stupid. Why the hell make the stalker someone random who's really not even in the book? If the author wanted to do that she should have started off with the whole Maura story so we get to know the kidnapper instead of making it a past even. On to book three I guess....

I know it's only three stars but I have come to realize that it takes a lot to get a five star. The thing should be a work of art to get a five. Three means I really enjoyed it still. It was better than the first. I love the introduction of Jacob I think he is an awesome character for Stacey. The struggle between her and "her attacker" was well written and believable. Dream still annoys the living daylights outta me. Australian be a bitch of a friend and this book she is the same. Love Amber and PJ though they are the shit :P And the magic and spells just keeps getting better and better. I love every but of it. Easily my fav part of the books. Wondering what they will be doing with the next book and plan to find out soon :D
I'm going to stop reading this. I've decided I don't really care about the characters or their ridiculous teen angst anymore. I don't really care for the writing style either. I'm pretty certain that Stacey's so-called 'BFF' is trying to steal her old boyfriend back from Stacey, that Stacey will end up with Jacob and that the ending will be as stupidly rushed as in the last book. It's like getting to the point of the end takes forever"drawing out the suspense"—but the actual climax is so rushed, it's unsatisfying. I don't want to read 300 pages of this again to end up with the same feelings as I did in the first one.
