M.R. Forbes is the author of a growing number of science-fiction series including Rebellion, War Eternal, Chaos of the Covenant, Stars End, and the Forgotten novels. Having spent his childhood trying to read every sci-fi novel he could find (and write his own too), play every sci-fi video game he could get his hands on, and see every sci-fi movie that made it into the theater, he has a true love of the genre across every medium. He works hard to bring that same energy to his own stories, with a continuing goal to entertain, delight, fascinate, and surprise.
He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

This whole story just gets better and better. This particular part had lots of action. The Sheriff is amazing. It made me cry in parts but then the action picks up again and lasts to the very last page. Can't wait to read the next book.
All out war has arrived. Sheriff Duke is up to his eyeballs in trouble and the story isn't going exactly as the reader would wish. There are cliff hangers, suspenseful moments, and some down right confusing episode's. If one is familiar with the HBO series, Game of Thrones, then this book will be right up your alley. Happy Reading
This is one of my favorite series. Mr Forbes has written several terrific sci-fi series prior to this one. I liked the infinity war. I liked the Queenie series, but not as much. This one, the "Sheriff Duke" series, is spectacular.
Of course I like any book in the series where most of the major characters are onstage together. Caleb Card, Sheriff Duke, Nathan Stacker, and Isaac Pine are actually together. Many pieces of the story come together here. The aliens, Relyeh and the Axon, are on Earth and things don't look good for the home team. They are very powerful, and the one thing you're sure of is that it's going to hurt.
There is an interesting side story about General Haeri back on Proxima.
This book is a tragic deflection point in the series. I'm not sure where it goes from here, but I'm sure that the humans will fight as long as they draw breath. That's the thread that runs under this series: Never give up. Never surrender.
I'm ready for the next book, Damnation. Thank you Mr Forbes.
What can I say! This book was fantastic!! After Caleb Card and Sheriff Duke coming together in the first book to the absolutely epic battles in this one, you can't go wrong!
This book is constant action, constant fighting and a huge, epic story coming to its conclusion.
SPOILER
They have now found out that there is an axon behind everything who's manipulating the Relyeh! Everything is getting flipped on it's head! I really must compliment the amazing talent that M.R. Forbes has, every book is like a whole new universe with twists and turns.
And finally, natalia is dead! She was far too goody-two shoes for a dark series like this. Hayden needed the impetus to lose it and kill everyone too!
Off to read damnation now, I hope it's not the last one!
If I had the option of 6 stars I would choose them. Incredible themes, mastered with good characters and plot. Sprinkled with enough monsters and technology to have you on the edge of your seat. Doesn't fuzz around with what reality is really about. War is ugly, people die...good people ,the scenario is close to what could be if Earth is lost to aliens. Go Michael,go! You have it!
This series has lost all focus and now is utterly unreadable. After reading Mr. Forbes previous work I know he is a superb storyteller and writer. Time to let the Sheriff ride into the sunset and put a merciful end to this once promising series. Genuinely sorry for the poor review.
I'm never disappointed with this writer. His story lines move right along, and keep my interest from the first page to the last. The characters are very well developed, as is the "world" they are set in.
I would definitely recommend any of the series by M.R. Forbes if you are looking for books that will grab you, pull you in, and hold your interest from beginning to end.
I am only going to take the time to put together enough words in this review to be able to submit it!!!! Because I can't wait to get started on the next book!! I love these books. I never give spoilers in my reviews anyway. All I will say is do yourself a big favor and check this series out...you won't be disappointed!!!!!!
I really enjoyed reading your books. They are well written. Your books are exciting and very imaginative. I fell like I started in the middle,I intend to read all your books.
If you're a fan of Sherrif Duke, Caleb, Nathan, Max, and the Forgotten Earth series in general, then this installment pays off in spades. Lots of major player characters finally come together, and important plot points briefly touched on in other books finally get somewhat explained to a level of satisfaction. Pozz that.
Yeah, no one is safe. Characters you thought would live longer don't. There is a sad apocalyptic desperation to the story arc that can't be escaped. The main characters are put through the wringer, ...and then some! Forbes doesn't hold back with the action, pain, and sacrifice. This is the book I've been waiting for since I started reading the series way back with The Forgotten. Plot twists keep the reader engaged. Heck, I'm pretty sure I know what is coming next, but I still enjoy the read and the characters. This specific sub-series and novel is pretty much the pivotal Forgotten offering, but please read them in order for maximum enjoyment.
War! The human race is at the brink of extinction, caught in the middle of the millenial war between the Relyeh and the Axon. 2nd instalment in the Forgotten Vengeance sub-series, 17th book of the Forgotten universe overall. I really don’t know how Forbes does it! In this book, all the heroes from the previous novels finally come together to become humanity’s last chance of surviving a war they never asked for, but which they now are eager to fight in order to avenge everything they have lost within the last 200+ years.
I was very disappointed with this book. Killing Duke's family (Ginny, Halia and Natalia) made no sense, and it only caused unnecessary pain to Hayden and to me as the reader. Continuing to kill all characters that are remotely connected to Hayden has gotten predictable and disgusting. I am done with this series and this author.
Thank forgotten universe has well and truly drawn me in, you will not regret reading it. This particular book broke me a little, but I can't wait to see where it leads the Sheriff!
My gosh, does Hayden and the good guys ever get a break? Seems like they are right on the edge of being successful and winning a fight, but then some twist occurs and everything goes to heck in a handbasket...on to the next book to see how Hayden gets out of this mess.
Very good series! Could use a bit more proofreading, but that will not stop me. Anyhow, Caleb and the Sheriff are off to Proxima are defeating Hancock and some reapers. I’d just stay tuned if I was you!
