In this charming, sweet romance from bestselling author Sara Richardson, can a risk-taking cowboy convince a no-nonsense writer to give him a second chance?

Thankfully, his recovery at home isn't as awful as he'd imagined, especially when he comes face-to-face with Jane. The first book of a new series and I will continue on with the series.Jane Harding is a romance writer but she doesn't want anyone to know, including her mom. Her teaching contract is up and her new novel is due soon so she goes back home to help with her best friend's wedding. The sexy cowboy she had a crush on and is a bull rider now, is best man in the wedding. He is also living at the ranch her mom owns. He is the handyman and also off the circuit to recuperate. Toby Garrett remembers their kiss many years ago and has never gotten over it. He had broken her heart one night but she had also told him she didn't like him. Now they are thrown together and the tension is back.
These 2 characters were fun to get to know and they need to really communicate better to clear up the air on what happened that one night years ago.
I received this from Forever and NetGalley.

Coming home is never easy but for Jane it will be the most pivotal moment of her life!

Jane has been running, hiding and masking the pain she feels within! After the horrible loss of her father Jane was never the same again. She turned into a quiet introvert who has spent her life hiding with the pages and words of a book! When she returns home for her best friends wedding Jane finds herself fave to face with only man capable of completely undoing her!

Toby has pain of his own but he also isn’t scared to go for what he wants! When he sets his eyes on Jane for the first time in years he knows that this time he’s going to do everything within his power to make things right and never let go again!

I loved how from the get go these two are thrust into having to work together! I also loved seeing the walls crumble as they got to see that other wasn’t who they always thought they were! It was the sweet hometown read I’ve been needing in my life!

Jane Harding is a CalPoly Adjunct Professor and a debut author whose first romance novel was a bestseller. Her second book has a deadline of six weeks but without inspiration to finish, she decides to go home to Silverado Lake for her best friends wedding. While there she runs into Toby Garrett a childhood crush and the inspiration to the protagonist of her first book.

I enjoy second chance romance with realistic and relatable characters. I am quickly becoming a fan of cowboy romance for swoon worthy men and passionate romance. A great escape read. I am so glad to start with the first book in the series in this sweet hometown read.

Thank you to Forever Romance for providing an early copy for me to read in exchange for an open and honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.
This second chance romance was something that I really needed right now! In First Kiss with a Cowboy, we have Jane, who turns to books after a tragic loss. The only person who has been able to pull her away from that is Toby, who upon her return home, has not only started working at her home, is also the best man in her friends wedding, so they are forced to work together on a lot of things.
They both learn a lot more about one another throughout the book, and learn that they didn't necessarily understand each other years ago when they shared a scorching kiss. This book was just the thing for me right now, and I really enjoyed my read of it! I'm so excited for this new Sara Richardson series, and can't wait to see what comes next!

Thank you Forever for my review copy

Mmmmmmmm, a rodeo star reconnects with a Romance writer? Yes, please.
.
Sara Richardson, brought a fantastic story. The ranch backdrop, the wedding, the second chance romance. It was a win for me.
.
First Kiss with a Cowboy is the first in Silverado Lake series. I really enjoyed Jane and Toby's HEA Cowboy romance. Jane was plain Jane in High School. Toby was the All American boy...turned rodeo star. What happens when they both come home to participate in their best friends wedding? This unlikely pair worked really well together. They both had some baggage that presented enough of an obstacle. I love me some (mildly broken characters).
.
Although predictable, I loved the chemistry and will absolutely be ready to go back to Silverado Lake.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

So when I first met Jane, I was meh on her. She seemed a little uptight and how she was about Toby really turned me off. I mean she was really not nice. Her thoughts were mean and I am glad she didn’t air them to anyone because they were just really that mean to me. But as we saw her interact with those around her and loosen up we see a different side to her. Her writer’s block as she spends more time with Toby goes away and we see her gain a passion for her writing and life. Toby helps in a way to set her free and see that life is meant to live and not just sit on the sidelines and play it safe. The passion and chemistry between her and Toby heated my kindle to the sun’s heat and they sizzles with their intimate scenes. What I loved though was watching them interact in everyday situations. He was easygoing and listened and supported her. He took the time to learn about her and help with the wedding even when she was frustrated with him when he volunteered to have things done and she felt it was beyond what was possible.

Toby was laying low and trying to heal. He had surgery and hoping it wouldn’t end his career. He was also going bananas with nothing to do, so he ended up at Jane’s mom’s place working. Her mom needed the help and he wanted the work. Not what Jane wanted but she held her tongue thank heavens for that. Toby was a great guy. He was trying to deal with the fact that he would soon have to give up his career and needed to figure out what would be next.. He was kind, caring and loyal. I loved watching him interact with everyone and especially Jane because he got her goat so much. He didn’t let her attitude get to him. Watching them fall in love as they put together the wedding and help each other figure out where they would be in the future was so fun, entertaining and sexy at times. Their banter was great and you just can’t help but smile at Toby and his ways. Jane took some time but you do fall for her as she grows and becomes less uptight and unwinds. Loved this romance and how they go from Jane carrying such anger towards Toby to falling in love and keeping her mom’s business alive even after it seemed her mom wanted to retire. Watching Jane come out of her shell about her writing and get over writer’s block was fun and boy oh boy did she have an imagination especially when she thought of Toby when writing than it turned steamy...Great romance and story about love, family and second chances. About finding one’s way to where they belong and finding love with one you least expect.

First Kiss with a Cowboy is the first novel in the new series Silverado Lake by Sara Richardson. Surprisingly, it is also the first book by this author that I have read. All I can say about that is it most definitely will not be my last! I truly enjoyed the writing style of Ms. Richardson. She can certainly tell a tale!

Jane Harding, adjunct professor at Cal Poly as well as a romance writer (using a pseudonym of course) is returning home as the maid of honor for her best friend’s wedding. No one knows she is a romance writer. Jane is unaware that her widowed mother is considering selling the ranch. Toby Garrett is a rodeo bull rider sidelined as a result of recent shoulder surgery (hopefully a success so as to not end his career prematurely). In the interim, Toby is working at the Harding family ranch. All I thought was wait until Jane found out about that! Well, no more storyline details as I feel it is best for each reader to discover on their own 🙂

The journey Jane and Toby must take to work through their misunderstanding from high school after their first (and at that point only) kiss, is a journey filled with adventure and self-discovery. The romantic parts definitely added some “heat to the story. Additionally, the self-discovery journey that each main character took was filled with highs and lows and ended in really important epiphanies for each character allowing them to progress and carry on with their adult lives. Loved reading through their individual and couple transformations. Very engaging. I found some of the “adventure scenes a bit hair-raising. Had me holding my breath that is for sure.

I found the endearment of “sweetness used by Toby very charming. To me, it gave a sense of the south and the manners that Toby was taught by his family.

The reference to a town in my home province of Alberta, Canada a lovely spot to vacation I might add brought a huge smile to my face:

“All the way to the ceremony site, Jane asked questions about the honeymoon. They weren’t supposed to have one, but Beth had opted to surprise Ethan by planning a trip to Banff in Canada. “It’s his dream vacation, she explained.

This book seems to have it all second chance romance, adventure, humor, hunky cowboy need I say more. If you like romance and hunky cowboys, then I suggest picking up First Kiss with a Cowboy you will not regret it! I cannot wait to read more titles by Sara Richardson as her writing has caught my interest!

Another book by Sara Richardson that I couldn’t put down. The chemistry and depth of feeling kept my stomach in knots and tears in my eyes. Don’t worry, that’s a good thing.

So many good stories all come down to misunderstandings. Didn’t we learn that from Three’s Company? A pivotal moment in the lives of Jane and Toby happened while they were still in high school. Both viewed the special moment they shared with different eyes and hurried to protect themselves instead of talking to each other. That’s why, years later, Toby thinks Jane dislikes him and Jane thinks Toby is careless and thoughtless. They are both dead wrong.

Toby is a sort of celebrity with his bull riding career, so he’s surely had his share of women and partying. But he’s not one to lead those women on and he’s never thought of settling down. Then he gets injured and goes back home to recuperate. He still isn’t one to thing of the white picket fence and 2.5 kids, but Jane stirs up feelings in him he’s not used to having.

Jane left town as fast as she could after graduation. Always an introvert and quite shy, she never felt she fit in with her peers, or even her town. Jane always felt as though she was a bit “other. It didn’t help that the mean girls in school latched onto Jane’s insecurities and shyness and taunted her. When Jane’s father dies, she withdraws even more. She’s not a recluse, but she keeps her friends to a limited few who have earned her trust. Those that seem to understand her, or at least not pressure her into being something she’s not.

That Jane and Toby competed academically throughout school and always had to argue and contradict each other growing up should have been the first clue that they actually were masking what the other made them feel. Once those feeling are allowed to bloom when Jane comes back to town at the same time as Toby, they can’t seem to stay away from each other.

While the love between these two seems to move fast, it was a long time coming. Their insecurities keep things between them a bit precarious, but love conquers all…isn’t that the saying?

I’m excited to see where this series will lead and whose story we’ll get to read next.

I'm only reviewing the main novel, not the bonus story by A.J. Pine (I'll read it later).

This was a cute cowboy romance. I've been on a cowboy kick lately and probably need to diversify my book selections, but why mess with a good thing?

Jane is a secret romance author who is back at her family's ranch for her best friend's upcoming nuptials. She rarely returns home and tries to avoid it given the humiliation she suffered in high school and the outsider she was. I certainly identified with being the quiet one in school.

Toby is a bull rider and is also back in his hometown for his best friend's wedding. He injured his shoulder and is recuperating from surgery before he heads back on the circuit. He was in love with Jane back in high school and now he's having to pair up with her to make sure their best friend's wedding and festivities are amazing.

Things are a little awkward and sometimes tense with Toby & Jane, mostly because of the high school issues. I can't really blame Toby though like Jane seems to do for the high school debacle. He kissed her, then she got embarrassed and told him she didn't like him. The next day, he asked another girl to prom in front of everyone since the girl he really liked didn't feel the same way. She was forever mortified and stayed away from the townsfolk since they still brought it up many years later. It was all anti-climatic in my opinion, but I guess in a small town, it's what you get. Communication could have cleared it all up though, but they were teens.

The romance is a bit of a slow burn since it takes Jane a long time to open up and give Toby a fair shot at a life with her. Or at least it seemed that way.

It was nice to have a hero who was also really smart (he competed with Jane in school) and who loved books just as much as the heroine. You don't get that very often, so it was a nice change. Plus, he was incredibly kind and loyal to his brother. Hearing about his twin and all he did to make his life a happy one was just swoon worthy.

Jane wasn't my favorite character, but she wasn't too terrible. She was too closed off for me to really like her and when she finally does grow up and give things a chance, it's almost the end of the book.

I'll definitely be looking to read more Sara Richardson books in the future - not sure how I managed to not read one before now.

First Kiss with a Cowboy is the first book by Sara Richardson that I've read, but it certainly won't be the last. This sweet romance was the perfect read for the mood I was in.

Toby Garrett is a rodeo cowboy who unfortunately sustained a devastating injury to his shoulder. He's had surgery and is in the process of rehabbing. He's returned home to where he grew up to be the best man in his friend's wedding, but he's also going to spend time at home since he's got nothing better to do at the moment until he's cleared. He ends up finding work at a local ranch that will end up bringing him much more than a paycheck when he comes face-to-face with the girl who broke his heart in high school.

Jane Harding hasn't been home for years. Once her father passed away, she preferred to continue living her life in California with few trips back to where she grew up. She's now back to help plan her best friend's wedding and to be the maid of honor and there's also the issue of rewriting her second book that is due to her editor. What she doesn't expect to encounter is the man who kissed her in high school and because of her own insecurities pushed him away even though it was the last thing she wanted to do.

When Jane and Toby see one another, it's clear there is a pull between them. They've both gone through a lot and while Toby would be open to picking things up with Jane, she is exactly the opposite. The last thing she wants is to get hurt and because of that, she's shut herself off from relationships and anything scary. Will Toby be able to bring her out of her protective shell, or will she let the man that she's always cared about slip away again?

This was a really enjoyable read and while it started a little slow for me, it definitely picked up and I wanted to know what happened between these two! I look forward to seeing what else happens in Silverado Lake!

‘First Kiss with a Cowboy begins the ‘Silverado Lake series with an emotional, engaging romance between two stubborn people, each are facing big changes in their lives, their chosen careers, and now back home are given a second chance to get love right this time around are they up to the challenge?

Once upon a time, in their high school days, Toby and Jane shared a kiss and each, somehow, came away from that kiss with completely opposite impressions of what the other was thinking/feeling about it. (they both were wrong about that, of course) You could put that down to teenage angst, but also Jane was such a shy girl, often picked on by the ‘mean girls so her impression stayed strong for a very long time, even long after she’d escaped her hometown for the big city. Toby went on to a brilliant career in the rodeo, Jane became a professor and a romance writer under a pseudonym. One extrovert, one introvert. Things are about to get interesting when they both return home to be a part of a friend’s wedding and work closely together on her family ranch.

Frankly, I adored this couple equally for different reasons. They are both so stubborn, so sure they know the facts, yet that spark between them hasn’t died down after all this time, and perhaps it’s burning a bit brighter and hotter now. I had such fun watching them move beyond that first kiss that each misinterpreted so badly back then. With a great bunch of secondary characters to round out the fun ‘First Kiss with a Cowboy quickly won my heart and my continued following of this series. Toby and Jane are so right together, I enjoyed their journey to a happy ever after ending and if you love a really good romance (cowboy or not) then you’ll want to pick this one up for yourself.

Jane Harding, a romance author who writes under a pseudonym, returns home to be the maid of honor in her best friend's wedding. Much to her surprise, the best man (and her mom's new ranch hand) turns out to be sexy bull rider, Toby Garrett, her former high school adversary and co-valedictorian. Toby is back home after suffering an injury on the circuit and he's currently buying time while he heals so he can get back to his exciting bull riding lifestyle. But seeing Jane again may give him a reason to actually stick around.

I received a finished copy of this book from Forever in exchange for an honest review.

Happy to add this to my list of quarantine reads. This is a sweet, second chance romance between two high-school "frenemies" who have both experienced a devastating loss and express their grief in very different ways. After losing her father, Jane has become averse to any type of risk, including outing herself as a well-known romance author and falling in love with someone like Toby Garrett who lives a dangerous lifestyle. Toby, on the other hand, lost a brother that no one knows about and rather than communicating his pain with anyone--including his parents--he chooses to live the thrilling life his brother couldn't.

Just enough emotional depth to balance out the fun and flirtatious romance that re-blooms between Jane and Toby who shared one hot kiss as teenagers. I wish that the journey from Jane writing under a pen name to finally revealing her secret was a little more prominent, though Richardson obviously tries to make up for that in the end. I appreciate that the author sort of drew out the aftermath of Toby's and Jane's in-love-realization at the end a little longer, as most romance authors happy endings are usually the same (characters realize they're in love + epilogue in which they get married).

Jane Harding feels as if everything in her world is crumbling around her, her recent writing project has hit a major snag, and her teaching contract has ended, with no new opportunity on the horizon. When her friend asks her to help plan her impending nuptials she figures a trip home to help can't really hurt at this point, it might be just what she needs to lift her spirits and lighten the load on her shoulders.

But nothing can prepare her for the handsome cowboy she finds waiting there for her, it has been a long time since she has seen Toby Garrett, and boy has time been good to him! But can she really trust him again with her heart?

Between the pages of this divine little tale readers will meet a woman in desperate need of a distraction and the handsome cowboy that promises to give her one. I loved watching Jane and Toby get reacquainted with one another, they had a lot of lost time to make up for, and a lot to learn about one another. In high school things were said, feelings were hurt, and retaliation took place, and it drove quite the wedge between them. They never really had the chance to get to know everything about one another due to their short lived relationship of sorts, so they just went by other's impressions. Now they find themselves together again, and quickly start to learn they had things all wrong back then, and before long they find themselves opening up to one another, and develop a friendship they never knew was possible... which then leads to the steamy stuff! This was a delightful little escape, each page came brimming with all the good stuff... my heart felt the intended squeeze, as well as all the falling in love butterflies! What a perfect start to a new series, highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I enjoyed this one overall, but some of the pacing and storyline sadly didn’t work for me as well as I hoped. I really enjoyed the small Colorado town setting, this was my first book by Richardson but she clearly is talented at writing Colorado romances! I’m a sucker for meddling family and friends so I really liked that aspect of the book and that it was based around their mutual friends wedding. Hello forced proximity! Although I did question what kind of people have multiple wedding events that are planned at the last minute by their bridal party. I really liked their “we kissed once in high school back story, it gave the beginning a hate to love vibe that I appreciated.

I liked Jane and her character as a professor and romance author, but some of her behaviors felt very young. I almost felt like this would have read better as a new adult romance with the characters being early twenties, and a college student instead of a professor. She just came off as really clueless sometimes. Toby felt like a younger character than he was as well at times. The pacing before the steamy scene confused me a bit, Jane seemed to think Toby might go back with his ex, they have no conversation and then bam! Sexy times! But I do always appreciate some open door steam in a romance!

I think I would have liked this one more if it was a little longer and scenes were more detailed. Some things seemed to happen pretty quickly without much discussion. Overall this one was a 3.5 star for me. While it didn’t work for me as well as I hoped, I am definitely planning to read more of Richardson’s books in the future (I mean, who can say no to some Colorado cowboys??)

Jane Harding is coming home to her best friend’s wedding. She is happy for her friend; she is not looking forward to being home. She also has to rewrite her new book but leave in the male hero which she was going to take out. The same one that she realized later was based on the guy from her worst night in high school ever. Hopefully, she won’t see him.
Bull rider Toby Garett is home because the last bull he rode for eight seconds did not like that and continued to jerk him around. After major shoulder surgery and PT, he is now home and his parents are driving him crazy. He hears one morning that of a job and asks the woman if she would be willing to hire him, she agrees. When Jane arrives at her mother’s ranch, retreat she comes to find out that the person who argued, challenged her in everything while in high school has taken over as the maintenance man. Now she must deal with Toby every day.
Her worst night in high school she associates with Toby, she already had insecurities and that night just made the ones she has worse. Now she was faced with Toby. She also had to now deal with actually for a longer period of time her fathers death. What does happen though is she begins to work through all of that. You are able to see her growth not quickly but slowly and the strange thing Toby helps her, but she also helps Toby. This turns out to be a much better book than just what you imagine from the title. The characters are all good and the story up to the end is very good. A very good story. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at

First Kiss with a Cowboy is a second chance romance between a shy romance writer and a fearless bull rider. Sara Richardson gave us two damaged characters who end up back in their hometown trying to heal their wounds. If you enjoy a cowboy romance with a second chance romance trope, you will devour this book.

Jane is a romance writer who always felt like she didn't fit in with the people in her town. That's why she left right after her high school graduation. She did always have one memorable relationship and that was with Toby. They didn't get along and were always competing against each other. One kiss changed it all.

Years later, they are both back in town and have to work together to make their friend's wedding perfect. They realize that one misunderstanding changed their opinions of each other and it could have saved them a lot of trouble.

Their relationship is unique and the bond they share is one of a kind. They know how to get under each other's skin but realize that it could be all out of love. Toby never saw himself settling down but the more time he spends with Jane the more of a future he sees with her.

I give First Kiss with a Cowboy 4 stars. I always enjoy reading Sara Richardson's book because of her great characters. Toby and Jane have a complicated relationship throughout the book, but Sara did a great job of giving enough backstory to make the outcome believable.

First Kiss with a Cowboy is a splendid second chance romance by Sara Richardson. Both of the main characters have returned to Silverado Lake, Colorado for a short visit home. Both are in the same wedding party while also being at crossroads in their lives. Personality wise Jane and Toby are opposites. This is really no hindrance since they value many of the same things. When I first started the book I thought perhaps they would be not make a believable fit as a couple but they really do.

Of course, Toby is all confident even with a potentially career changing injury. He is likable, charming and has a past tragedy that still affects his family life. Jane is not much different she too has faced loss and some awkward moments in life. One happens at the very beginning of the story which served to be a bonding point for me with her. The one with Toby from her past, well it didn’t reflect well on him.

Older, more in tune with their emotions and socially mature, these two make a wonderful couple. Still Jane does not make it easy on Toby. Good for you, girlfriend. This is a wonderful start to what I see will be an addictive series.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

They went to school together. Toby was the good-time cowboy, popular with everyone. Jane was a loner, serious and shy. No matter that they didn't really like each other and were constantly competiting, he was her first kiss.

Jane became a teacher but also a closeted romance novels author. Her first book sold well so now she have to make time to finish the dreaded second one. She usually only come back in Silverado Lake on holidays, but now she must take the time because her best friend is getting married. Guess who's the best man? Yup, Toby Garrett! A serious injury forced him to take a break from the rodeo circuit but he still needs to pay the bill and occupy his mind. So why not offer his help to Jane's mother who needs someone at the Silverado Lake Ranch?

First Kiss with a Cowboy is the start of a new series and one I'll gladly read. I loved how Jane and Toby were open-minded and not looking at each other the same way that when they were in high school. They still discovered traits they haven't had the chance to see before and they brought the best in each other. The fact that Jane was a romance writer allowed the author to make an ode to romance novels and this is something that made me smile. Maybe it was just the heroine's thoughts but it made me felt for a minute like I was closer to the author and it was a cool feeling.

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from NetGalley and Forever

First Kiss with a Cowboy is book 1 in the Silverado Lake series by Sara Richardson.

Jane Harding, romance writer, adjunct college professor but her life starts to unravel when her teaching contact isn’t renewed and her second novel tanks with her editor. First Kiss with A Cowboy by Sara Richardson is by fat the greatest summer romance I have read. Her story is filled with plenty of humor, intense heat coming off from both characters, bubbling romance, and the reality of being a writer. The female protagonist is a shy woman who has hidden her identity as a famous writer from everyone. Soon after she comes home, dealing with coming up with a new book is hard. She needs inspiration fast. First, there's her friend's wedding she has to help plan. That's where al the fun and intense scenes arrive. A former hot lover comes onto the scene. A cowboy as cocky as any other man. He's dealing with an injury from the rodeo and plans to reconnect with the woman he hasn't forgotten since their first kiss. These characters were charming, smart, and great opposites. One is super social and outgoing and the other is shy to the bone and afraid of things. I easily was able to connect with both of them. However, connecting with Jane was easy as pie. I too have fears and she felt real. Overall, Sara Richardson did an amazing job. She got me hooked and lost deep in her new world of fiction.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Book #42 of 2020 First Kiss With a Cowboy by @sararichardsonbooks Finished 05/22/20

Um, hi, I'm Michelle and thanks to @readforeverpub I'm a cowboy romance reader.

Sometimes we just need a nice palate cleanser read The cowboy romance genre fits the bill when I need something sweet and easy, usually between books I know are going to work my brain I love how we know as a reader we will get that happily ever after but aren't always sure how we'll get there

In First Kiss With a Cowboy, both Jane and Toby have returned to the town they went to school together in with no plans of staying long-term A town where they shared a disastrous first kiss that of course everyone knows about Jane is a romance author in a writing slump and Toby is a rodeo star waiting for an injury to heal up Back home for their respective best friends' wedding, there is no avoiding each other as they fulfill best man and maid of honor duties

Filled with playful banter and misunderstandings left and right, First Kiss With a Cowboy hits all the marks for the (not quite) enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes It is the first in Richardson's Silverado Lake series and is a light, enjoyable introduction to the cast of characters within the community

This book made me miss Colorado so much as well as the dude ranch I use to work on. This was my first Sara Richardson book and will not be my last! I loved her characters with Jane the now professor also writer who never comes home thanks to bad memories. Toby the all star high schooler now pro rodeo bull rider who is also home and is working on Jane's family dude ranch. The chemistry is still there between them, years later after heartache and misunderstanding. The setting of this book is just beautiful and makes you wish you were sitting down at the lake looking at the mountains. Loved how these two open up and tell their truth- while growing together.

This was such an enjoyable read with Jane coming out of her shell and Toby learning why he loved Jane before and now trusts her. This is a wonderful small town second chance story. I can't wait to see what else happens in Silverado Lake!

Overall, 4 stars and 3.5 steam!

Thanks to NetGallery, Forever, and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars

Sara Richardson is my go-to author for cowboy romance. She writes well-paced plots with relatable characters and sweet romance. First Kiss with a Cowboy is the first book in her new Silverado Lake series.

I absolutely fell in love with Toby and Jane over the course of this book. They shared a kiss when they were teenagers, but it didn't have the chance to develop into more. Now they are both at crossroads in their lives, Toby with his injury and Jane with her career as a romance novelist. They have also both returned home to Silverado Lake for their mutual best friends' wedding, and their flirting was adorable.

Even as the spark of attraction between them reignited they also connected emotionally. Those moments they shared were some of my favorite in the whole book. They really helped each other with the losses they had both experienced when they were younger.

I can't recommend this book - really all of Sara's books - enough! Her writing drew me in and made me feel like I was right there in Silverado Lake with Jane and Toby.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Jane is a romance writer who is dealing with writers block. Deadline is coming soon and hopefully her friends wedding can help spark something to get her writing again. Unfortunately she finds out too late Toby who she had a brief thing back in the past and she still isn't over her feeling rejected but will have to tolerate him for her friend sake.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance. I though it was interesting getting to see Jane and Toby's character and the romance that was going on. With everything having a deadline I was curious to see what was going to come up with it, I mean Toby has an injury that keeping him down for the moment but plan to going back to his rodeo career and Jane needs to get back home work on her book before she ends up a one hit wonder. Both have things to deal with, family lives to get over because the past doesn't seem to just want to stay in the back it was interesting seeing them go though the things in the book.Overall this book was pretty good I did enjoy it.

Jane comes home for her best friends wedding but has a few secrets she's keeping. Her contract for her job hasn't been renewed, she's an author and has to get a new book to her publisher in just a few weeks. But her BFF has kept a secret from her, the best man is an old crush and he's back in town because he's been injured and is the best man. If all that isn't enough, he's working at her family's business! Toby and Jane are thrown together numerous times to get things done for the upcoming wedding. The more they are together, the more sparks there are. Toby's on to her secret job and urges her to let others know and share in her successes. He's recovering from an injury and worried he won't be able to return to bull riding. Together they work to help each other shed some fears and insecurities and become a couple with a happy future. Ms. Richardson is a new author for me and I did enjoy this story and look forward to reading more from her. I received an ARC from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This first book in the series was a sweet touching story about two individuals whose childhood and youth have molded them to whom they are today as adults.
Jane Harding and Toby Garrett were always competing in school . He the outgoing , athletic one, and she the shy and quiet one who was often ridicule by “the popular crowd. During a HS party Toby kisses her, and should be been special, destroyed Jane.
Now back in town for their friends wedding, they are forced to work together.
Will they have a chance of opening their hearts and past to each other? Will they get a chance at love?
At times heartbreaking but also heartwarming, the story is a reminder on how one’s childhood and family dynamics truly affect one as an adult. This introduction to the series, makes the reader wanting to know whose story will be next.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Forever. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

It started with one kiss!

Jane Harding’s teaching contract had just ended and her agent told her that the publisher didn’t like her next book, she had six weeks to rewrite the book and three of those were already spoken for as maid of honor for her best friend. Rodeo star Toby Garrett was home to recover from his surgery and when he found out that Jane would be the maid of honor, he wantd to see if the attraction in high school was still there even though they only had one kiss.

First Kiss with a Cowboy by Sara Richardson is all about what happens when the one kiss that Jane and Toby is something that neither of them has ever forgotten and now, they get the chance to date and figure out their future.

I wish I could give the book 4 ½ stars because it was a book that make the reader fall in love with Jane and Toby!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jane is a character I can identify with. She is a little out of step with others and feels awkward. She returns home a little lost to attend her best friend's wedding. She has secretly written a romance novel and is now on a timeline to write her second. She's struggling. While home she meets up with her teenage crush who broke her heart. Toby is home recuperating from an injury from his rodeo riding. He takes a job helping out Jane's mom at her guest ranch. The two cross paths and soon Jane has all kinds of inspiration for her writing. The two characters are both relatable and facing some crossroads in their path to their future. I liked the characters individually and even more as a couple. The book moved with a good pace and had a very sweet story. This was my first book by Sara Richardson and it will not be my last.
I definitely connected with Jane Harding. Shy, outside looking in, not liking to be the center of attention...ME. Unfortunately, I'm not a secret romance writer. ;)
Toby Garrett. Awww Toby. Such a sweetheart. I fell in love with him. His sweet-talking, hard working, sincere ways.
Both characters have suffered a severe loss in their lives and even though they and their families have dealt with them in different ways, the losses have shaped who they are. I loved how they helped each other work through their grief.
There were some wonderful side characters, a beautiful setting and a bat scene that will have you laughing.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this author, including the rest of this series.
