The Grinch is back and not from Whoville either. Christmas presents are being wrongly appropriated. Kids will not get Christmas as a result. Who would be so mean and why?
Although the Grinch Cookies sound yummy.
Peter, you are so smart!!!! You helped me figure it out. You did that with the Halloween mask also.
Orange Blossom, what happened? You okay now? Got quiet at the end there. No usual yowling. You be back to normal by next book.
This author is has a neat little trick of putting controversial topics in their books sometimes very sneakily. They did it this time also. At least I think so. It pushed my buttons for sure. This time it is one that people do not readily recognize. If you do not catch it comment me and we can discuss it.
Fun, easy to read, easily a standalone.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
I chose this rating because the author obviously didn't do her research. She doesn't know what an evangelist is, for example. She has it mixed up with evangelical, and I am not sure that she really knows what that p, either. Then, she didn't realize that The Salvation Army does not use Santa Clauses at their kettles. However, the Volunteers of America uses Santas at their chimneys. The Salvation Army would also be doing Angel Tree for presents for underprivileged children. Since I had never read any books in the series, there were just too many characters. You really needed to have read the previous books to understand this one.
This was an interesting story set in a small town which experiences a number of thefts of Christmas gifts, including the ones from the Community Center for the disadvantaged. Erin is upset that anyone would do something so mean to children at Christmas. There’s a meeting at the school to try and plan some events to raise Monet to try and replace the gifts. But who’s the Grinch or Grinches who is doing such a dastardly deed, and why? It’s the same favorite characters from the series. I received a free copy of this book and write this review voluntarily.
Santa Shortbread (Auntie Clem's Bakery Book 12), my seventeenth read from author P.D. Workman. Extremely well written, the characters well-developed building over the first eleven books in the series and now you're so heavily invested in them. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This is the 12th in the series. The main characters are Erin and Terry. Terry is still recovering from the last book and it is almost Christmas. The only trouble with that is that there have been a lot of burglaries around town. Erin learns a few things and the bad guys get nervous. They attempt to run her off the road and she gets kind of beat up. Can she figure this out before it's too late and have a good Christmas ?
Who’s stealing presents from the Bald Eagle Falls community, it’s not just the gifts stolen but the disadvantaged kids too are being robbed from. Erin Price , gluten free baker , takes the mantle to discover the culprit and raise funds to help the children have their Christmas . Good versus evil in this race to Christmas Eve it’s Grinch vs Santa , Santa can’t lose out surely great writing immersive fun narratives.
I enjoyed this book and other books in the Auntie Clem bakery series. I enjoy the small town dynamics and the friendship between Erin and the locals. Her drive to solve mysteries and to make a magical Christmas for the people of Bald Eagle Falls is heartwarming. I recommend this book and this series.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am providing my honest opinon.
When an unknown "Grinch" decides to steal Christmas presents from homes and cars in the small town of Bald Eagle Falls, TN Erin, who runs Auntie Clem's Bakery attempts to and succeeds in discovering who the ringleader of the thefts is. Interest book with interesting characters made or quick reading. Will definitely looking for more books by this author.
I received this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
Love this series! The small town of Bald Eagle Falls has its own real life Grinch, who is stealing toys intended for needy children. Ms. Workman delivers another great mystery with nice plot twists and charming characters. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
I always enjoy the books in this series. Fun characters that keep you entertained. This one was very interesting and gave me a little taste of Christmas in July. I look forward to Erin and her friends next adventure.
I like the pace of P.D.'s novels. The characters draw you into the story and by the end you are ready for another look into the characters lives. So WRITE FASTER!
Erin has chaotic Christmas season with her friends and boyfriend. Someone is stealing Christmas presents from the townspeople. Naturally, Erin can't help but stumble over clues.
This is a safe, clean read. I would recommend it to 12 and up. Some intrigue and romance. Characters you will enjoy and remember. Lots of books to keep you reading.
A dedicated small town cop and the local bakery owner who tends to want to investigate on her own. The town has the usual people, including some who are stealing Christmas gifts, including those for the poor. Interesting story.
Enjoyed this book. Followed through well. Surprises in this book. Who did it until I figured it out, had been totally stumped! Things I never thought I'd see!.. Things that are going to really throw you!..
What a great CHRISTmas mystery! This one has no dead bodies, simply the fabulous mystery of who is stealing presents from homes in the neighborhood. One question remains that involves Orange Blossom
This is the first book I have read by this author. It gave you some insight into the character's lives. It was a real interesting mystery. There were some surprises about who committed the thefts.
I received a free book, and this is my honest opinion.
As always with this author, this is a very well written story with excellent characters. The plot, however, is very weak this time, but it's still an entertaining book.
This had it's moments, but ultimately it is in awesome book and would recommend to people that wants some twists and turns in their reading experience. Truly loved the book, from beginning to end.
WOW!! Hit some nails on the head!! I'm really impressed with the subject matter in these books and the hard line that the author chooses to write about. Really worth reading!!
This is a nice continuation of the Auntie Clem's Bakery series and we are reunited with characters we've met before including Erin and her police officer boyfriend, Terry. There wasn't as much depth to the characters or story line as some of the past books and the whodunnit was glossed over. The culprit of the burglaries was named but then not mentioned again until later in the story of who the guilty party was and it was a done deal. It was a letdown for me of how the guilty party was exposed and also some of the incidents that directly affected Erin weren't really addressed.
It was nice once again being back in Bald Eagle Falls, Tennessee with its quirky characters, both human and animal, and Erin in the thick of everything once again, much to Terry's chagrin. Her specialty bakery once again plays an important role. She and Terry have some heated moments that seemed unlike them and their friends seemed to take more of a backseat in this book. There were some twists and turns to the story and some surprises along the way as Christmas was front and center.
There was closure as well as some loose ends to bring us back again to the small town in Tennessee. There was a sneak peak of the first chapter of What the Cat Knew in the back of the book which is the first book in the Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator series which is a spin-off from this series. I'll have to give those books a try as well as read the books in this series that I've missed. The colorful cover was once again playful.
Ms. Workman is an author who writes mysteries and suspense and whose books I recently found. I have added some of her books to my always growing TBR pile.
NO SPOILERS HERE. In this book, P. D. Workman offers the reader yet another captivating mystery featuring the characters that many have come to think of as friends. The community of Bald Eagle Falls is making their final preparations for Christmas when the town is plagued with a series of burglaries. Families are distraught at the loss of presents for their children and no one, including the police, are able to figure out who is responsible. The investigation seems to indicate that there are likely multiple perpetrators but in such a small and tight-knit community it is hard to imagine who this greedy grinch and his minions might be. Erin and Terry, as usual, are on the case and, of course, danger and mayhem ensue. Followers of this series will enjoy another installment in the whacky and adventure-filled lives of Erin and her friends as yet another mystery is solved. Newcomers to the series could absolutely enjoy this story as a standalone (but reading the previous books would definitely afford a greater appreciation for the on-going character development). If a clean and intriguing mystery with well-drawn diverse characters appeals to you, this book would be a great investment of your time and money. I shall eagerly await my next visit to Bald Eagle Falls to find out what the author has in store for these delightful characters.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
