So, this is a series with a different take on werewolves. I liked this book but not as much as the first book in the series. It took a while to get going and there were parts of the book that disturbed me. These parts might not bother anyone else so I won't elaborate on what they were. I still liked the book, thus the 4 stars. I really hope the series continues because, like I said, the storyline is very interesting. This is a wishy washy review but I felt the need to say carry on. I just hope the next book has more gore and less time spent preparing food.
I have yet to be disappointed by a D A Roberts thriller. He brings new characters into the series and soon has you caring about them. None of his characters are two dimensional. This book sees Will and his Dog Soldiers battling an ancient evil. The thrills and chills don't stop. These Books are so well done with characterization, setting, and plot. If you've been to any of these places in Missouri or Arkansas you'll enjoy this novel even more
What a story! Books 1 and 2 have got to be two of the best, if not the best werewolf/dogman stories I have ever read. Tons of action, informative native history, excellent characters! What more could anyone ask for? More stories! Keep them coming Mr. Roberts, and I will keep buying and reading them
Will Greyeagle now a member of the Native American Dog Soldiers is called to the Arkansas Ozarks. To fight more Oolonga-Doglalla. Instead of the dogmen they find actual Werewolves whose leader is centuries old and very hard to kill.
Hope to see more books in this series! Packed with action, history and First Nation folklore the author has brought to life the legend of the Dog Soldiers of the Lakota. Can’t wait to read future books of the same!
A touch better, but then slides into harem In book one the Main Character is a cop, now he's a biker. That's the way this series goes. D.A. Roberts throws a lot at the wall to see what sticks. That's what your in for. there is no plan, just a bunch of stuff that happens.
This is a good book. You shouldy read it. I like the story. The characters are fun. The book is a good read. i enjoyed it alot.. Download or buy it today. why not?
I enjoyed this second of the Apex Predator series almost as much as the first. Unlike some other reviews, I liked the food descriptions. My only gripe (if you want to even call it that) was that Will is, oh, so in love with Sarah, and even assures her there is no reason to be jealous, and then at the first opportunity has a 3 way with the new girl that they've just met. Then new girl takes a shower and comes out into the room nude, puts on Sarah's red bra and panties and Sarah is ok with that?! Around here, she would get her behind whupped. Or get hit with a silver candlestick given the circumstances. Other than that minor detail it was a fine romp. Hope we hear more from Selene.

The story was well crafted, well researched, and amazingly, this guy knows his guns! It's so annoying when authors reference guns, and clearly don't know the first thing about them! And, besides, I'm a werewolf, dogman, fan. I read everything I can regarding them. The Native American (Lakota) dog soldiers reference was well done.
Will Greyeagle and his team face off against monsters they are familiar with, yet not prepared for. That’s until Will “changes!! I did not see that coming. I couldn’t stop smiling as I was reading that. Love this series and getting started on the next book right away.
Great continuation for book one, I like how the author managed to expand the supernatural element to other cultures without tainting any of it. Good power up from Mc and control over his new perspective.
& older majic & werewolves & were-wolfs & other ' critters' talk come ? Gonna be fun to see where its going ? These books from this Author are fun reads ! ... if this is Really going ON
The story is about a Lakota and Cherokee tribe of changing werewolves that fight other crypids. If you love books about the old ways done in the new world this book is for you. I LOVED IT!!!
I read this one because I got hooked on the first one - Apex Predator, #1. The 2nd one was even better because I had already fallen in love with the characters from the first book. The story moves quickly, and the characters grow and develop, becoming more well-rounded.
I didn’t love this book but it was interesting and brought some new characters into the mix. I will keep reading because I am enjoying the series and others will love this. Make up your own minds.
I really appreciate the nod to truth in this series. I appreciate the attention to detail and the formidable research that has clearly gone into the story line. I am obsessed
