A magic library that records memories Every secret. Every lie. Every crime.
Allison Rye’s small-town life is getting complicated. She’s juggling a new job at her husband’s care facility and a foster dog determined to keep her awake at night, not to mention the magical library of memories she’s sworn to guard.
If that weren’t enough, she has a page thief to worry about, too. They stole twenty-five years of her husband’s memories, and now they’re trying to steal her family. Allison has one week to find a mysterious object hidden among her family heirlooms or risk losing everything—and everyone—she holds dear.
But her search for the secret stash is stymied when a local child goes missing. The memory books in the library may hold the only clues to his disappearance. As Allison delves into the sinister, true-life stories to find the boy, she uncovers secrets darker than she had ever imagined.
This story about Allison and the magic library just gets more twisted and tangled and more exciting. Allison learns more about the history of the library and how her next door neighbors fit into the picture. She also realizes that something just isn’t right about her daughter’s almost mother-in-law. Allison had promised a box of keepsakes to Emily, but Elaine, Emily’s fiance’s mother, is the one who is avidly pawing through the box. What on earth is she looking for? This book is a real page-turner. The excitement kept mounting, and then I read “The End. I cried out “Noooooooooo!!!" Thank heaven my husband is a really sound sleeper. Now, I can’t wait for book three to get the answers to all of my new questions. The author is quite good at tossing out red herrings and leading you down a path full of twists and turns, but she is always faithful to tie up all the loose ends and leave readers satisfied at the end of a series. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to readers who like cozy mysteries, with a light touch of magic. I would suggest that you read the first book before starting this one in order to understand what the magic library is all about and how Allison’s husband Paul lost all memories of her.
Disclosure: I was given a free ARC and am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.
Allison is guardian of the Magic Library containing everyone's memories in books and foster parent to dogs until they find their forever homes. Allison's daughter, Emily is marrying Zack, Elaines son. So why is Elaine so intent on insinuating herself so deeply into Emily's life when at the same time going after Allison when no one is looking. What does Elaine want from Allison? She wants something, but what? And is she willing to go to great lenths to get what she wants. With her Great Pyranees foster dog, who gets herself into trouble still works to protect Allison. Who broke into her house while she was asleep upstairs? Who broke into her neighbor's house. And how is her neighbor, Michelle and her grandson, Taylor involved in any of this? And how is Elaine related to Allison's husband's memory loss of anything Allison - yet he remembers his daughter Emily. So many twists and turns and a roller coaster ride makes you want to keep turning pages! This is a series you should begin at the first book, you won't be disappointed. You will be surprised at the end, but wait who is guilty? I can't wait for book 3 as I am hanging!!! I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Allison Rye continues with her role as guardian of the secret library of memories as well as fostering dogs for the local rescue. Her latest happens to be a Great Pyrenees with flying fur and a sleep depriving, loud, nightly bark, which may prove to be an unexpected asset. Allison is still trying to find a way to restore her husband’s lost memories and stop Elaine, her daughter’s future mother-in-law’s plan to prevent that from happening. In her search, she uncovers more secrets and a possible new ally. Elaine is a dangerous enemy with a hidden past and a diabolical plot for the future. Can Allison stop her and prevent further harm to her husband and daughter? Will she be able to fulfill her duties as guardian without violating the rules to save them? Once again, Hillary Avis delivers a unique and intriguing mystery and the characters are complex and multifaceted. The excitement builds and while some questions are answered, some new ones arise. I can hardly wait for the next book in this wonderful series.
Allison Rye is the guardian of the Magic Library which contains everyone in Remembrance's memories. She also fosters dogs for the local shelter until she finds their forever home. Allison is now the Enrichment Coordinator at Golden Gardens Memory Care where her husband, Paul, is a resident. Allison is trying to recover Paul's memory that he lost two years ago. She thinks her daughter, Emily's, fiance' Zack's mother Elaine, is involved in Paul's loss of memory. She was a former guardian of the Magic Library. Allison has a box of things for Emily but Elaine is bound and determined to get her hands on it. Willow, the great Pyrenees that Allison is fostering now, is a great watchdog if Allison would pay attention. Book#2 has a lot of twists and turns. When you get to the end you know you cannot wait for Book #3. Hillary Avis has done an awesome job with this series. You will want to start with Book #1. I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Pages & Pyrenees is book two in the Magic Library Mystery series. This is one series I really think you should read in order. Based on an interesting premise that all the memories in this town have been recorder in the books of this magical library. This book continues the story from book one with all the interesting characters. Allison continues to foster dogs, keep the library safe, search for a way to restore her husband's memories, and provide stimulating activities for the patients in memory care. Allison also continues to wonder what Elaine wants and worries about her daughter's upcoming wedding. I had to just keep reading as I could not put the book down. I am impatiently waiting for book three!
This trilogy is getting so good! It seems like as soon as Allison thinks one problem is solved regarding her husband's stolen memories, another one crops up. In this book, she found out another couple of people knew about the library, one of which shouldn't have known or even been involved with it. The other was insisting on something that Allison wasn't sure she liked, because it could ruin her shot at ever getting Paul's memory pages restored.
I can't wait to get to the next book and see how this all finishes out! A great KU binge borrow! And I just loved the sweet foster dog Willow who was featured in this segment.
I loved this book! I want a Willow, but in miniature version. I don't know how I feel about the memory books. I wouldn't want all my personal thoughts written out for anyone who has access to the books. I have to credit the author for coming up with such a genius idea though. The book flowed seamlessly, which it gives the reader an enjoyable reading experience. I can't wait for the next book as, I believe, it will be a continuation of this book.
I volunteered an honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book.
Allison has her hands full this time around trying to take care of her husband and looking after the secret library house and then she gets a new foster dog that she thinks that he will never let her sleep again. Then a boy goes missing and has the whole town out looking for him. There are lots happening in this book and I love this new series. Each book is a story within another story. You will understand when you read the book. Now I will have to wait patiently for the next book to come out.
I received this book as an arc reader...omg, this has so many twists and turns, secrets, and balancing acts, all by Allison who is figuring out so many things as she goes along! whew...Allison's daughter is engaged to be married, but as Allison meets her daughter's future mother in law/Elaine something doesn't feel right, and justifiably so! Elaine is bad news, and seems to be involved directly in the memory library and the missing memories of Allison's own husband, Paul. Elaine ends up revealing her ugly self, and Allison gets her put in jail, but she has to make sure Elaine is convicted.
Allison is trying to come to terms with her husband remembering their daughter, but not her. Then there is Elaine, her daughter's future mother in law. She is behind the missing memory, but there is something else she wants. Then there is a missing boy. This is something the isn't the norm for their small town. Allison has a foster dog that likes to dig holes. Can Allison find the boy and whatever Elaine is looking for? You will need to read the book for the answers. I really enjoy how the characters and the storyline are developing. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Once again Hillary Avis has enthralled me from the outrageous caracters to the drama that is unfolding along the way while trying to figure out what has happened and why. Nothing seems to be what it appears and what can be found in the pages of a book could change every thing. But who is really responsible for the loss of all those memories and what possibly could be gained by so much loss. Aquier a copy of this spellbinding cozey mystery today so you yourself can enjoy reading it as much as I have.😯🤔🙄Kat
This series is so much fun. The premise of a magic library that records all of a towns memories is fascinating to me. Allison is the librarian right now, the term only lasts 3 years. This is great boon for her as her husband is missing all memories of them together and now she can investigate why. Their daughter Emily is engages and the mother-in-law to be is not what she appears to be. Allison is a foster mom to dogs and the one she has now is testing her patience. There is a wonderful cozy mystery built into each book and I am so excited for the next one to see where the story goes.
I love this book! Book one was good, book two is even better! Taking care of a Library with all the memories of the Town's people without being able to talk about it to anyone, meanwhile trying to find a new home to a huge dog and help solve a mystery is a lot of work. You get easily attached to the main characters and can only hope that all will turn for the best in the end. Good book, amazing story...
I received this book as part of an ARC team and this is my honest review.
Hillary Avis is one of my new favorite authors! This book was fantastic! Somehow I missed the first book in the series but I'm definitely going to go back and read it. Pages and Pyrenees has everything you can hope for in an excellent cozy...............laughter, adventure, good friends, and, most of all, it gives you a welcome change from your current reality. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!!!! Enjoy! 📚📚
Received an ebook from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Wow, I could not put this book down. The Magic Library is a unique concept with endless possibilities. Hillary Avis does it again. Allison, the main character, has a lot to juggle: a memory library, her job, her husband, the foster dogs, her daughters nuptials, and a woman who wants what Allison's got. Book 2 takes you on a ride with many twists and turns. If you live mysteries, you're going to love this book.
Oh the mysteries of magical libraries ! This one definitely has its twists. Allison’s daughter Emily is engaged and her new soon to be mother in law is something else. Allison doesn’t trust her and with very good reason. Why is Elaine (Emily’s soon to be mother in law) bad news ? What does she want with or from Allison ? So exciting
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Some Mysteries are Solved, New Ones Appear This book is the second in a series that needs to be read in order. This book ends with a cliffhanger leading into the next book. The plot is excellent and makes this book a real page-turner that I did not want to put down. Our heroine has a rescue Great Pyrenees that really earns her dinner in this episode. As some parts of the puzzle are revealed, the puzzle just gets bigger and more sinister.
Another fantastic story by Hillary Avis. Totally love this series. Allison is in a battle for her life and her memories. The book held my interest from the start and I did not want it to end. Hoping the next book in the series is available soon. Hooked and awaiting Libraries and Labradors. If you love a good mystery, try this series.
This one ends suddenly also, but I expected that after the first one (Tomes and Terriers). It's still a bit slow paced but better than the first book in that regard. There are still several loose ends to tie up, so I'll go on to the last book of the series. The editing is still good and the characters and story are interesting.
The mysteries continue, and little is as it seems except for Allison's continuing heartache seeing her husband being cozied up to by the one person with the most nefarious and malevolent motives. And if you think Emily is safe - hmmmmmm. Nope. The bright spot is that wonderful fluffball, Willow. I have to get book 3! And please, let it end well!
Love this series!! Such a unique storyline with great characters , Allison, Myrna, Taylor, Michelle. Cannot wait to read more about them. I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given
I received an ARC of this cozy mystery. This is the second book in the series but can be read alone. Both are excellent! A unique concept and very well-written. Each book leaves me anxious to read the next one. Highly recommend you try this absorbing story!
Allison Rye is still maintaining the secret library and fostering a Great Pyrenees. Exciting things happen in this book and we learn a lot about the secret library and missing memories. I look forward to the sequel. Love the characters and this small town.
A good and fast book to read. Lots of weird twists and turns that is getting a little confusing. Some strange characters. But awesome dogs are included. That makes the book fun.
I. Cannot. Wait. For. The. Next. Book! I have to know what is going to happen next. What will Allison do with the knowledge she has now? How can things be made right? OMG! I’m hooked on this series!
