Book : The U-Turn Authors : Ravinder Singh and Vani Mahesh
The book is a short story and the language used is very simple and easy. This book revolves around a serious topic 'Marriage'.
The story is about a 28years old girl named Suni who works in a very good job . Suni is in relationship with Samarth, 30years old boy who is still finding himself to settle nicely in his life. They both completed their six months in relationship. Everything was going nicely when one fine day Suni asked Samarth for marriage. Samarth was shocked and directly said No to her. He knows very well that was his inner fear for the marriage said No. He wants to get settled first in his life. Hearing "No" regarding marriage from Samarth, Suni felt very bad and cheated. They both had a great argument where Suni decided not to meet him for 1month.
The story beautifully describes the city Banglore . I really revived my memories from that place. The fact that Suni's elder sister had a peaceful marriage made her to decide that she will also get married to the person she loves. This thing Samarth hates a lot as she in every statement mentions about her elder sister's marriage.
Though I still find that something was missing at the end. Now whether Samarth be able to accept the fact that he has to choose either the love of his life or forget about her and focus on his career? The way Samarth decides has been nicely described in the story. One can actually feel the thoughts and can relate to it. Yes, the story has an unexpected twist at the end. Do read it to find out. Amazing story!!
This a story about Suni and Samarth who are in a relationship since the last 6 months. Suni wants to marry Samarth because her sister's life changed for good after her marriage while Samarth isn't ready for marriage yet. So Suni gives Samarth a month's time to decide whether he wants to marry or live a life without her. As the story continues it takes alot of unexpected twists and turns with a totally unexpected ending making the title THE U-TURN apt for the story.
I would say it's human tendency to compare themselves with others because we think what we are seeing is the reality. But we need to understand that we only those parts of others lives which they want to show us. When we start comparing our relationship with that of others, we start loosing the uniqueness of our relationship. I believe every relationship is unique in itself and one should never set anyone else's relationship as a benchmark.
While some are busy comparing some are committment phobic. Some people fear long-term commitment, which can be due to past bad experiences, fear of change etc. If you believe you have found your version of a perfect partner only then you should commit to them and not hurry ourselves in relationships and commitment just because of age factor or to imitate someone.
I'm still not able to process the end of the story because it was a total u-turn. Ravinder sir has again maintained his spree of somewhat sad endings of his stories. It's something that every young adult would relate to.
Love with marriage or without marriage; in both Love is all that matters. In this short story- that saying is so true that " When you long for something or someone with the deepest desire, you get it if you're fortunate enough, with the help of all the universal forces that plays their respective role " even if you have given up. As usual, again another good story. Thankyou so much.
A Remarkable story that captures your heart. It is so relatable and practical. Incredible writing which intrigues you till the end. Awesome U turn in the climax.
The twist is amazing. I loved it to the core. They love each other, but both are poles apart. Want to stay together but confused. Yet love can do miracles.
