Agent Nora Wexler rolls up her sleeves to tackle a new set of mysteries and killings in the first book of a new sequel series!
Now a seasoned FBI agent, Nora discovers that having experience working for the bureau is much different than knowing what'll happen next. When a shooting takes place at Joint Base Andrews, she finds that the killer has committed suicide but the question of what happened is more alive than ever. Meanwhile, her personal life threatens to explode when Travis takes up the case of another woman.
Sometimes I think writing makes me crazy, but then again I'd probably be even more crazy without it. There are a lot of things I do to balance out though: traveling, distance running, hiking, reading, orange juice, tennis, food fights, walking out of movie theaters telling the people in line that Harry Potter dies, cooking ethnic food, and competitive napping.
I really enjoyed this new Nora Wexler series very much. Nora and Tavis have settled into life in the Washington, DC field office. They have been engaged for over six years and Nora's getting a little miffed that things aren't moving forward. Nora is assigned to a mass shooting on an Army base while Travis is working a case for a women he found hiding in a dumpster saying someone broke into her home. They find her husband dead. The base shooting as a Major who killed himself before being captured. The identify a group of people who are convinced they are superior to others because they have the "warrior" gene. The case is not wrapped up in this book and there will be two more until the story is completed. Very interesting and good to see Nora ad Travis on the same page about their future.
In the first trilogy, Nora Wexler is a new FBI agent specializing in high-tech investigations. Perhaps a little green then, but this book takes place 6 years later where she has become a respected member of the team in Washington, DC, along with her fiance, Travis. At a pre-wedding party for an old acquaintance, Nora is called away to a mass murder shooting at a military base. The ensuing investigation uncovers a lot more to it than a military man gone berserk. Be aware that this is the first part of a 2-book series, so there is some unfinished business at the end. I will be waiting for the conclusion!
Nora and Travis finally get to work together again to solve a case involving a rare gene and an angry military group. The book was very well written and hard to put down. It is definitely worthy of 5 stars and I can’t wait for their wedding trilogy!
