I love love love all things Allie Casazza. She takes the rules of minimalism and tosses them out the window, then teaches the reader how to make minimalism work for each person's own life and lifestyle. Her target audience is moms but everyone can benefit from the content in this book. Minimalism doesn't have to be about numbers. It's about simplifying. If a capsule wardrobe is freeing to you, do it. If a capsule wardrobe feels limiting or stifling, don't do it. If you're a master chef in the kitchen, it might make sense for you to have all the gadgets. If you hate cooking, you might be better off just having the bare minimum. Allie covers how to talk to other members of your family who may not be on board, how to deal with sentimental items, how to find your 'why' and set your intent for each room, how to curb incoming stuff and change your shopping mindset, and so much more. If you are a mom (or not) who is drowning in stuff, if you're just trying to make it through each day barely keeping your head above water, if you want more time to enjoy what matters, read this book, and do the work (because, if you don't do the work, the book is just one more piece of clutter to weigh you down). Set yourself free.

The first time I discovered Allie Casazza was many years ago, through a fb ad. I was completely struggling in my role as a mother, and felt depressed and buried under the never ending tasks of mundane life. One day as I was was taking a moment to escape on social media her ad popped out at me, seemingly read my mind (and I know this may sound completely cheesy, but her ad spoke directly to my soul.) I stopped scrolling.

For YEARS I had been asking friends, “how the hell do you keep your house clean as a mom? The only replies I would get were ones like, “ha, ha, that’s funny. Or you JUST do xyz (aka clean the entire damn day from morning till night- no thank you, I’d rather have a dirty home, time with my daughter, and what’s left of my sanity.)

This woman, she had the answers I had been searching for.

Soon, I was binging on Allie’s podcast. I’ll be forever grateful to Allie for so generously gifting the world with her free content. It really truly changed my life (as did her paid content when I finally gained enough self worth to begin investing in myself.)

I remember writing her team an email back then years ago, asking, please, please, please can Allie write a book for moms like me? Who would gladly spend $20. on a book. The day I wrote that email, I couldn’t justify investing in myself with her course (WOW have I changed since then.)

It brings me GREAT JOY to see this book come to fruition. It was sooooooo much more than I expected! I know there are SO many mothers out there right now who feel the way I did- who NEED this book.

If you are willing to do the work, this book will ignite within you the power to change your life, (and I’m not just talking about dishes and laundry.)

I love you Allie!

Allie's book does not disappoint!!! If you are struggling to find balance and lightness and enjoyment in your motherhood, Allie's book is just for you! She has helped me so much as she walks you through WHY you are feeling so overwhelmed, and what to do about it. This book takes you through what she teaches in Your Uncluttered Home, her signature course, and helps you weed out all of the unnecessary clutter in your home so that you can have "less, for the sake of more!" More time, more freedom, more enjoyment in your motherhood. This is a must read for any woman needing to lighten her load1

I found this book to be such a disappointment. Early on I realized it was written by the blogger who went viral after she gave away most of her children's toys. She apparently went on to become a multi-millionaire (she tells us often how successful she is) with her podcasts that lead people to pay for her expensive courses on how to declutter. She has testimonials in the book from people who "invested in themselves" and paid $200 to take her courses and how it supposedly changed their lives, but there is virtually NOTHING NEW in this book to differentiate it from your average blog post (and most of it is just her old blog posts from way back, that you can still view through the wayback machine). I wonder if she held back anything honestly helpful for those raking out the hundreds for her classes, if there is anything good in there either.

The one and only thing that was remotely new or helpful to me was that she mentions that in her paid course for getting kids to declutter, the other woman involved in that course made up 5 categories of kids regarding their motivation. This reminded me a lot of the love languages and some are pretty much the same and just rebranded. But basically some kids are motivated by competition, some by wanting to please, some by time with you, etc. and you can convince them to declutter by knowing what motivates them (like give them a dollar for every 10 things they get rid of if they're motivated by money and presents, and just spending time with you will motivate the ones who value quality time). This was literally one paragraph in the entire book though, and it is the only thing I found remotely new.

The author likes to call you "girl" and talks like Rachel Hollis. She also acknowledges that she comes from a privileged perspective, and that shines through. For instance, she talks about getting rid of stuff and you can just buy it again later if you need it, and she describes her lovely house with lots of descriptions of expensive, luxurious items and not just less stuff. She does talk about how to buy better stuff when you're really poor and things like that, but to me she focuses a lot on owning nice things, which isn't really minimalism. The focus is certainly on getting rid of stuff too, but it's really basic advice.

I'd recommend books like Decluttering at the Speed of Life if you want more information.

Considering how often the author plugs her podcast and paid courses, it almost feels like the idea was to get people to buy the book so then they'd go pay hundreds for her courses. There are already about a hundred reviews here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ from her loyal fans who all parrot the exact same lines.... "Allie gave me the kick in the butt I needed!" and such, so she seems to have sent people over here and to Amazon to rave about the book. If you like her and want to give her some money and hear her talk some more, this will be a great book for you. For those who aren't fans I don't know that you'll get much out of this unless you are absolutely brand new to ever reading anything about decluttering.

I read a digital ARC of this book via Net Galley.

I stumbled upon Allie Casazza a few years ago and participated in her New Year Declutter Like A Mother challenge, and I was hooked!! I continue to participate every year. So needless so say I was all for her book "Declutter Like A Mother". In this book Allie offers real advice, simple, no stress tips to help organize and declutter your home and life. One thing that has always stood out for me is when she said "Minimalism is not about having less for the sake of having less....its about having less for the sake of having more of what matters ".... This really spoke to me, I want my life to reflect that. I want to have more time for what really matters. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to calm the chaos in their homes and lives. It is life changing!!

I've been following Allie's podcast, programs, and emails for a few years, now and I am absolutely ecstatic that she is releasing this book. I know this material will help so many mamas because it has certainly helped me as I transitioned between a full-time career to a stay-at-home mom. As a devourer of self-help books, I found this book to be super refreshing. Most books give inspirational quotes and make the reader want to be a better person, but leave it at that: desire.

Allie takes her instruction one step further and literally gives step-by-step instructions for how to integrate her decluttering methods into a busy mama's daily life. It really feels like she is holding my hand the whole way through. I know exactly where to start, keep going, and finish. I don't think I can give this book too much praise. Allie's message is clear: Read. Learn. Work. Change. You are worth it. You deserve it.

Things I liked about this book:
- the author took the time to note that parents should not declutter behind their kids' backs if the kid is old enough to notice; despite it being "your" home, those are your child's belongings that you (or others) gave them and your child deserves the right (and your respect) to have an input on what stays and what goes.

Things I didn't like about this book:
- too much religious talk in the beginning

- waaaaay too much focus on the implication of every reader of this book being a cishet woman and a mother (sentences constantly calling the reader "girl", assuming every reader is a parent, etc.)

- weird random body-shaming tidbits (i.e. the bit about "if you aren't wearing Spanx and you have a c-section scar, trust me, everyone can see how lumpy your scar is" - WTactualF is this and why is it in a de-cluttering book???)

- vague parent-shaming stances (such as criticizing toys that are "unimaginative")

- every 3rd page is a plug for the author's website, paid downloads, paid online courses, etc.

- constant plugs for various brands (like Spanx underwear)

- falls off-topic constantly (again, with the underwear)

- The entire book reads like a long, drawn-out, rambling blog post that was only intended for people who are already friends and/or followers of the author's content. It could easily have been trimmed down to a couple of pages if not for the endless tangents, repetition, and long bulleted lists (the section on de-cluttering your bathroom literally includes a 20+ item bulleted list of items most cis women have in their bathrooms).

Bottom line: this is one of the worst self-help books I've ever read and I strongly recommend skipping it and picking up something by a number of other decluttering and organizational aid authors (with my #1 rec being Dana K. White, whose books cover many of the same methods that Allie Casazza details in this book, but in a better, more thorough, and more accessible way).

Listen mamas. I’ve followed this author on Social media for about 2 years now. I first joined a free webinar on decluttering your house in 2 weeks. Now, I wouldn’t say that I should have been on an episode of hoarders buutttt I felt like all I did was clean. I never spent time with my kids, just cleaned. That was until I listened to her webinar. Then I was hooked. I desperately needed that hope that one day my home would bring me joy. That motherhood would stop feeling like a burden. I was willing to try anything. So I listened to Allie, did the things she told me, and low and behold I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. As soon as I saw the email saying she wrote a book, knew it needed to be in my hands and the women around me. So I preorder. I’m soo glad I did. She has made this a simple process that anyone at any level or walk of life can go on. I can happily say that because of this book my home is easily managed and I have time not only for my kids but for myself. BUY THIS BOOK. You need it.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I had the great honor of reading this book before it was released and wow. I love everything Allie, and have purchased 2 of her courses. I was worried it wouldn’t translate to a book but, this book oozes Allie. Everything she does if packed full of value. This book clarified things for me in the decluttering process and I’m so excited to dive in. In fact, I already started re-reading it. 😂 I will definitely be recommending this book to people in the future. Don’t skip out. Pre-order this book. Gift it to the mamas in your life.

Earlier this year, I stumbled upon a Declutter Like a Mother Facebook challenge group. I joined it because let's be real, the clutter was taking over my whole life. I was in a state to where I had started taking medication for anxiety and always frustrated with my home, my kids and even my husband.
When I think of cluttered in a home, I think of stuff everywhere - like lots of things to dust - YUCK! Not exactly true from Allie's perspective. Your whole life can be cluttered and she teaches you all of this in a way that is not overwhelming at all. After semi-working through the Declutter Like a Mother challenge, I started listening to her podcast and I was HOOKED! My whole attitude is better. If I start going into yuck state(Listen to her podcast and the yuck episode is GOLD - It's episode 169!), I just start listening to the podcast and I can feel myself calming. She's THAT good! PROMISE!

Once I started reading her book, I started to see where I could declutter even more in my life which made me feel so much lighter. Decluttering your notifications on your phone - WOWW! Thank you, Allie! I am so thankful for this book and can't wait to read it again and again. Yes, you read that right. I am going to read it over and over to keep decluttering my home. I am not finished decluttering and still have a LONG way to go but she has truly helped me improve my life and to become a better mom. Speaking of, my daughter once asked "Mom, why do you listen to this?" My response to her was so that I can become a better mom and play with my kiddos more. Her response was so heartwarming but I know I can do better and with Allie's help, I'm doing that and so will you if you RUN and get this book!!!

I've been listening to Allie's podcast, The Purpose Show, for a few years now and following her over on IG. Reading Declutter Like A Mother was like having a conversation with Allie. She writes the way she talks. She is genuine, relatable, and has so much to give. One of the biggest take-aways I've learned from Allie is that decluttering your home is a process. It's more than just letting go of the excess "stuff" in our home; it's a mindset shift. In her book, DLAM, Allie walks you through this process, step by step, room by room. If you're feeling overwhelmed or don't know where to start when it comes to decluttering your home, this book is for you. Implementing Allie's techniques into how we care for our home and all that it holds has been so freeing for our family. I would definitely recommend this book!

I’ve loved Allie for a few years now. With 4 kids of her own, she’s been through it just like the rest of us, and that’s exactly what comes through in her book. It’s the tough love that I need to get myself in gear. Even though I bought her course to declutter my home and have already done a decent amount of work, I was reinvigorated when I was only 20% through the book to go through my stuff again and make changes. Allie is so motivational and encouraging, she’s really changed my life! This book was so fun and easy to read, practical, and gave me the kick in the pants I needed to be a better mom and have a better, more decluttered home.

I'm intrigued by all of the five star reviews on this book. The fact that most of them were written by Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ users who do not even have profile pictures says a lot in my opinion. This is not a book for anyone who has ever read another decluttering book, for it has absolutely no new advice. The author tries to be motivating and trendy, but I found her annoying. She clearly comes from a place of wealth and privilege, and I am not a fan of the idea of throwing everything away because you can always buy another one. She also advertises her paid courses throughout the book. I feel that if you pay for a book, you ought to get something for your money. Any short blog post will give you this basic advice. Very disappointed.

I have been listening to The Purpose Show for almost two years. A friend told me about it when I was in the thick of PPD while raising 4 kids under 5. It feels trite to say Allie Casazza changed my life but she definitely changed my home and my motherhood.

This book did not disappoint in any way. Allie is encouraging but also willing to be real and call you out. Her advice is practical and also sustainable. Allie has taught me how to be intentional with my time, my children, my home and my stuff. Thanks to this book, my home is (mostly) clutter free and my time is now spent with my children...instead of cleaning up after them.

This is a wonderful book to help anyone get out of the stress of trying to declutter your home and get to the other side of less overwhelm. I love that reading this book is like what I’d imagine sitting down with Allie to chat would be like! Fast, easy read but with very good and practical insights as to why we gather clutter and how to become free of it! My house runs so much smoother now with less stuff and less stress. I’m excited to put these ideas and strategies to work in my classroom, too, now.

I’ve followed Allie Casazza for several years now and participated in her Declutter Like A Mother January Challenge three times. Her advice has truly changed my life and the life of my family for the better. I was so excited to read this book! It is practical and helpful and gives overwhelmed moms action steps to minimize and declutter their homes. I am so happy to have her wisdom in a hard copy to refer back to on a regular basis. The book is written in a relaxed conversational-type style and her California vibe voice shines through. She takes you room by room and helps you think through a framework of how to approach decluttering a room. For those who want a deeper dive or more help with an area, she offers links to her paid courses throughout the book. I recommend this book to anyone who needs to simplify and calm the chaos. Reading this book will make you feel like you have a friend in the room with you rooting you on!

An excellent book that starts with mindset (a critical component to decluttering) and goes on to describe step by step how to tackle clutter in your life. These concepts can be applied to your stuff, your schedule, and more. I have been working on reducing clutter for a few years now and this is not the first book I have read. All of them were very helpful and got me a little further in my journey. I now have time and energy to enjoy my home and family instead of feeling constantly overwhelmed. Thank you Allie!

This book is amazing. Its packed with information but broken down to be actionable and not overwhelming. Allie's writing is witty and inspiring, but also forces you to get honest with yourself about your clutter habits and the things that are keeping you stuck. I definitely recommend this book if your struggling with clutter in your life!

I have followed Allie for a few years and from the moment I heard her podcast for the first time, It felt like she was reading my mind. It was like she actually understood all the craziness of my life as I was drowning in the hot mess mom/cluttered lifestyle. I needed her message and I truly believe their are so many women/moms out there who need this book! Allie has laid out the framework to help all women to stop drowning in their homes and take back their lives. This book has given me another push to jumpstart a new way of life again. I needed to hear Allie’s message again and I’m so thankful for this book. It is so helpful to have it to look back at her suggestions and her plan to help us be successful!

Not super helpful organization book. Nothing new or interesting. The author has a blog or podcast and advertises her paid program in the book. The title mentions decluttering and it does focus on that aspect. However, the decluttering mostly boils down to "get rid of it now because if you need it you can always get a new one." Also, the author's use of "hey girl" type language was off-putting and made it feel like she was trying to echo Rachel Hollis and tap into her monetary success.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher, Nelson Books, for an advanced eARC of this book.

I enjoyed the easy read, yet feel like I got a lot out of it. I love how she said, “if there is so emitting for you in this book please take it. It acknowledges that everyone has different experiences, is in a different stage of the decluttering process, has different needs. I have been following her for a while & have decluttered multiple times. I still felt like I got good advice & ideas from this book, especially when discussing minimalism and kids.

Allie has done it again! This is the first book that I have actually read of hers and now I want to go and find the rest. She is so real with her courses and personal and the same is with this book. You can tell that she throws her whole self into this project. She makes you feel like you are just having a chat with a friend as you read her words of kindness, love, and inspiration. She makes it easy and breaks it down so clearly. I cannot wait to read this again and go through it step by step. Excuse while I do so!

This book will change your life! Allie Casazza brings a real life and modern approach to minimalism. She breathes life into motherhood and gives actionable steps to take. Whether you read it all at once or purge as you read you really can't go wrong. Allie moves room to room and teaches the reader how to give your home a purpose and how to make sure your space is serving you. The book read as if I was talking to a friend. A book worthy of your bookshelf and one to share with your friends.

I have read and enjoyed many books about simplicity, decluttering or minimalism so was interested in reading this book. Unfortunately it did not add anything to my knowledge of how or why to declutter. The writing style was also very annoying. The author called the reader "girl" all the time and used excessive periods. The first sentence is "Things are about to get so. much. lighter." I guess the author and publisher thought this would make the book hip and relatable. I just found it annoying. Save yourself some time and money and read something else.
I received a complementary copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have been reading/studying the minimalist lifestyle for a while now. It has been hard to implement, but after reading Declutter Like a Mother, I feel so much better about what I’ve been doing!

One common theme Allie Casazza drives is that “you do you. Everyone is different and deals with stuff differently. There is no one way to minimize. In fact, minimalism is not the point. The point is to get rid of the stuff that is keeping you from all the important stuff in your life. You have to figure out what that is and do minimalism that works best for you.

Doesn’t sound ground breaking, but it was a light bulb moment for me! Allie gives practical tips for each room in your house. But you don’t have to follow her methods to a t. Figure out how you want that room to feel and then make a plan.

I’ve had boxes of stuff sitting in my hallway all summer. I realized I didn’t need it because I never thought of it, so out it went to a local charity this morning! It took that light bulb moment to kick in to allow me to let go. Now I’m ready to get on with other areas in my house but at my own pace.

I highly recommend this excellent guide for decluttering your home, life, or whatever you need to! Thank you to NetGalley and Nelson Books for the ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

I was so excited to get my hands on this book because I have followed Allie Casazza's podcast for a long time and have been so inspired by her message. This book was an awesome read- so easy to read, I can hear Allie's compassion & encouragement mixed with hilarious tough love humor in each sentence. The way the book is organized is the simple to follow life-transforming process step by step that I need. Thank you so much, this book describes a straightforward way that I can actually level up, implement and create my dream home and life! As a mom with a 6 month old and 2.5 year old, I was very overwhelmed and thought there was no alternative, but this book has me totally ready to try every step she suggests!

If you are a fan of the author, this book will probably be something you may enjoy. If you are looking for actual tips on decluttering, go ahead and skip it.

The book starts off in a conversational and promising tone. However, as you read further, it seems more like another way for the author to hear herself talk. Throughout the book, she makes certain to sprinkle in comments so that you know what religion she is and that she has a program she is selling. And that is exactly what this book is: a long-winded advertisement that can simultaneously make some money.

If you are looking for the tips in the book, they all boil down to one thing. The more stuff you have, the more time you will spend cleaning that stuff.
