Alexander /Alex- has a deformed leg since birth. Raised by his dad Crandle Masterson Charlotte - widow over 7 yrs and been living in a convent, thought to be barren .
I wasn't sure about reading this one, being I really could not figure out who Alexander was and what tie he had to other series. As most 2nd in command series the main character is from another series. All I knew it was from Season of Fortitude series but not which story. I loved that series, so I went ahead and read it. So glad I did! Once I found out who he was in the other series ( don't worry you find out in the 1st chapter) it all made sense and I was eager to read on. I enjoyed how the story unfolds, as he search to find out if what his dad says is true and he finds love and acceptance along the way. Absolutely loved his character. Charlotte is amazing as well. Their story has a loving HEA!
This 5 STARS short read novel is well written and gives great insight into the actions of how some medieval characters decorated, celebrated, & supped on for their wonderful Christmas cheer. Not to forget, Alex/Peter, as he went about wondering if the man he had called father his whole life who died had told him the truth of his identity on his death bed even as he fell in love & enjoyed the Christmas celebrations with the Lady Summer & her family. He realized this beautiful wonderful woman could be his mother, & her daughters his sisters & he die see a likeness with her eldest son who would be his brother; it brought tears to his eyes & also scared him to consider this, him with his lame leg, him, a mercenary.
Finding out who you really are as your father is dying, can destroy everything you believed was true!! Alexander, born lame, has lived his life as a mercenary despite his disability. As he learns his real identity, he journeys to find the truth and meets Lady Charlotte. Beautiful and looking for a husband, Alex feels he would not have a chance with his past and his lameness. But love has a way of breaking down barriers and I could only turn the pages quickly to see what would happen!!!
Elizabeth Rose you did it again, but I think this lovely little romance is my favorite. The story of Alexander Peter and lady Charlotte. I love this book. This book is about second chances, in love and in life. Reading this short story felt real the characters, the differences in two imperfect people finding love. So far this story touched my heart a little more.
When Alex is told by his father that he is Peter and Lady Summer is his mother he does not believe it. He goes to find her and meets Charlotte. Who he fallen in love with and she with him. The entire family is thrilled to have him in their family. It was a very sweet story
What a wonderful story! The idea of a knight with a disability that overcame it to fight so well is so encouraging and uplifting! I love the way Ms Rose weaves her tales this way!
I really enjoyed the concept of this story. I haven't read Summer, yet, but the snip I read at the end of this story gave me a clue to how Alex survived. Christmas was the right time for the story.
Good story. I love the bastard triplets stories. This is a short but poignant story. I like the way everyone accepted Alex and his disability. Would be good to know how his life turns out.
A short story which delves into the true identity of Alexander. There are some lovely, caring characters and some cruel or careless characters when dealing with disabilities. It’s rather nice to find a hero with a disability.
I enjoyed this book. I love good stories that end well. I would say Alex Peter had a club foot. My middle daughter wore braces as they caught it early. My oldest daughter has one lef slightly twisted. They wouldn’t have had treatment for that then.
