Bob Blanton has been an avid reader ever since his mother first took him to a library at age five. He has toyed with writing for years since college but was always too busy to start a novel. The "stone series" developed almost by itself as he was trying to sleep on long flights to Asia and Europe. He managed to write it and two follow-on novels while he was working, but never had the time to polish them. After he retired to the beach in Mexico, the only thing that competes with writing is the sound of the ocean and sunsets over the water. Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading them as much as he has had writing them. Check back for other books as he continues to ply his new trade.

Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading about Matthew and his developing powers as much as he has enjoyed writing about them.

I enjoy these books, but I found most of this one quite disjointed and the whole series is definitely becoming a Space Soap Opera that often meanders along quite aimlessly.
There was more focus towards the conclusion of the book and this saved it from being only 2 stars.

I like the Delphi in space series for its empire building point of view. But:

- i would like to see a small reminder of where some recuring character come from (not every one want to re-read all the books to know all characters by heart).
- The writing style is very cold and emotionless.
- The main characters use to often and too much of a miracle out of my ass approach.... Why no one except Cathy knows of the principle of jump gates (notably high ranking officers).
- Everything flow too easily and the author seems bored by his story.

Delphi is space could be something more, something complex, something hard, something great. Instead, more and more the books are boring, without depth and challenges, without grief, without hardships.

What could have transitioned to a david vs goliath war become a flop due to a out of the author ass solution.

Good work Bob, but i can feel your boredom...

Still building

I am very intrigued by the type of government the McCormacks have created. It is a mix of benevolent monarchy and bold capitalism. It is too late to try that now unless somebody finds a Paraxean Spaceship someplace. It might get some ire from the Woke crowd, if any of them read. I know that wasn’t nice. The right to attempt your goals without unreasonable government intrusion. There are lessons to be learned here.

I have to admit I'm of several minds over this book. I have liked the series it is part of from the start, but this is one of the weaker volumes. It seems there is a lot of scenes away from the main plot in the book especially in the first half, with some of the main characters just interacting socially.

Additionally, there are various interludes where the author tries to show how the idealised society he has created deals with the darker sides of human nature such as race, personal gain, child abuse, and more and how sometimes the solutions offered are less than ideal. While I can't fault the authors wish to do this, in some ways it does distract from the main plotline. In my mind a good thing, but maybe it needed more integration with the main plot.

As to that plot, which is basically finding a previously encountered group of aggressive aliens are looking to invade and take over another inhabited system and how Delphi (humans) and their allies can stop this. I liked the fact it was done in a way that avoided mass killings, and overdone space battles, but the solution was just a little too quick and easy. Bingo central character at the last moment gets an idea that saves the day.

So some good stuff I enjoyed, some boring bits, and some interesting social musings that just need to be integrated more closely into the rest of the book. I'm sticking with the series and author based on past performance with hopes of better to come.

Some poor writing, but Blanton's typical slow build to an exciting climax

The ideas and stories are better it this book than the ones preceding it. The writing got a bit muddled by the first third, but it picked back up and the surprise ending left a satisfying conclusion. Also, no more of the crappy behavior of all the main characters promoting inadvisable use of alcohol. The story's good enough that that and the unnecessary and deceptive spelling of God as an expletive was about the worst of it. This book was better as both counts. Bob has a talent for setting the pace for the mood of the story. Classic example of the elementary school writing lessons of building up to climax and then a plateau.

Another gem in the series.

I enjoy the series very much. This is another good exposition in the series. There’s not a lot of action, just day today activities that people in the future have to do to survive. Katie a.k.a. princess Catherine is still a joy. She is now learning that there’s somethings that she hast to do in life that she doesn’t like, this is a lesson to us all. The character development is good as well as the interaction between the characters in the book it continually shows their growth. If you like world building, exposition, good character development and some action you’ll enjoy this book. If you haven’t read one before you’re in for a treat started book one.

Good, it missing a little something

Overall, this book fits well in the overall series. It shows the evolution of many characters and the way their approach to less pleasant human traits could bring about some change, but not “cure all situations. It continues to favor cleverness over brute force. They continue to invent solutions at a remarkable pace.

However, they have become a bit overpowered, in that there is no suspense. It has become a bit too easy for the MCs to achieve their goals.

A good book but the author keeps expanding and expanding his cast and story lines. This book felt like it was 150 pages long because the big picture story advances so little. I was surprised to find the paperback edition was 256 pages but then I realized this was the result of the author spending time on a dozen different characters and story lines. My point being that, while I enjoyed this book, it made me concerned for the future of this series. The author definitely needs to start narrowing his story lines.

Bottom line: good but raises concerns for future books.

Better

First I’m glad this one didn’t end in a cliffhanger. I read this series because I have nothing else to read. Lol I suppose my only complaint with this book is the wondering storyline. One moment tension is building towards a space battle, then the next it’s about a guy who didn’t separate his recycling. The story line is just a little incoherent. But definitely worth reading in between your favorite book releases.

Great as always

The story and writing is great (as per usual with Mr. Blanton). However, I have one teeny tiny little gripe (MINOR SPOILER AHEAD); whenever Catie refers to Marc and Sam's new daughter, she repeatedly calls her ”niece. But the child is her half sister not her niece. I don't understand why or how such a glaring mistake got through. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next.

Steady Progress

This installment brings more complexity to an already multilayered universe. While thinly defined here, the reader is introduced to two new alien societies. It has been interesting to watch the contrasts between existing social standards and the idealized society at Delphi. The storyline promises continued interest with the newly defined aliens. This installment resolves a few story threads and openly leads into the next book.

Entertaining Read

Princess Catie is at it again with her inventions, scientific perspicaciousness, and business acumen. Her friends try to set her up with men, but business, diplomacy, military action, and proving wormhole theory with real wormholes holds her attention more. I like the action, humor, and a touch of romance. I find the morality tales and social problems treatises intriguing. I look forward to another book.

Awesome Series

This story of the rise of man in to the galaxy led by a genius and his super genius daughter was fantastic. I would be hard pressed to find a topic in this book that wasn’t covered. Racism, slavery, prostitution, bureaucracy, and living standards were all covered. I guess he missed how to deal with the global pandemic better. Matt would probably be good for that. .

Just a Wonderful Story

Just finished the 10th book and looking forward for the 11th. One thing you have to give the author is that he knows his space facts. Now I'm not near smart enough to know if he's just blowing smoke or not but I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt.
This is a great story and I think the author did a great job with the characters and the action. I would without a doubt give this series Two Thumbs up and would Highly recommend this series.

Disability seems a little more edgy.

I could be wrong about my perception of this particular book, however, seems to carry a roughness or an edge to it that the previous books in the series have not done so. It seems to have lost some of its innocence. Simplicity at the novel is meant to have a message communicated however I'm not real fond of bad language to accomplish that. Or adult situations for that matter.

Good reading

The series continues with the McCormack family and Corporations dealing with societal problems of racism, classism, sexism, elitism, crime, xenophobia within and without the Delphi system while both conducting alien warfare and diplomacy in their usual snarky manner. Catie finishes her high school and Academy years while contributing to the McCormack expanding empire.

rational women run the universe

A world and which non-violence and rational, consensual relations are the rule with no regard to gender, class, beliefs, appearance. A revolution in an autocratic state by enslaved women begins with the admiral’s wife, putting a dagger in his ear. If a young adult SYFY, the author for the implements, Asimove’s saying that any technology sufficiently advanced will appear as magic.

Fantastic - but short.

I mean absolutely no disrespect here. Just want to make that completely clear. I love your series but the books are just too short for me. I smash through them in one day!! Absolutely LOVE every single minute of it though. Thank you so much for being a writer. I don’t think I could ever do something like this. I will stick to being a wedding photographer!

A great story with aliens galore!

This tenth book accelerated the alien contact story and introduced the complexities of reintroducing those prisoners released by the Delphi leaders as well as just getting to know three new alien populations, their home worlds and cultural differences. A good and entertaining novel.

Excellent story

This is one of my favorite series. I Stay awake so I could download it at midnight. I would recommend this book to any sci-fi junky who would like to read a combination of StarTrek and eureka ( tv show of a town full of smart people).

Good read

Mr blanton is going to need to up his game if he intends to charge for his books. While I enjoyed the series so far, I'm going to need a full length book. No more short installments.

Book 10 in the series

The McCormacks and their friends are back for another adventure. As part of their exploration efforts they discover three new races of people and not all of them are friendly. A great story.

Tired series.

Seems like they’re trying to milk all they can out of this cash cow. Overly simplistic solutions to seemingly complex plot lines. Almost like a low budget tv show where everything is settled in 25 minutes and the next 3 are used to set up the next “cliff hanger.

When I think human nature has reared its ugly head...

A way is found around it. Still an interesting story but time will tell. Taking a short break before reading the next one because all 12books were published when I started!

Another good read.

This book was great as well as the others . The writer sucks you in with new aliens that they have to go up against . I don't like being a spoiler and give too much away about the book , just read it and you will see it's a great series.

Okay

I struggled with this one. Put it aside a number of times. Can't say it just did not keep my interest. The author needs to let the main character grow up. Pouting and whining still. 🙄
