This book is the reason I stopped reading this series. I forgot how much it annoyed me and unfortunately it is still too unbelievable.
It’s been a long time since I read one of these and now I remember why. These books are in a different order than they were originally and some books have actually been put into other series.
Not a world I enjoy when they threaten to wipe memories or dispose of people who learn about them.
Everything happens between these two in basically a 24 hour period. There is no build up between these two at all, no connection and really no story.
Adam has just been dumped by a she-wolf shifter after a 10 year friends with benefits relationship. One whom he’d thought he’d mate, eventually, except she met her True Mate.
Paige is apparently so shy, not months, but SIX YEARS go by because she cannot speak to Adam except about his same order every week in the bakery where she works.
Then when she sees wolves shifting, has a word vomit moment and mentions something to Adam, he suddenly takes an interest in her.
Adam is drawn to her, even kisses her but then sniffs around EVERY female wolf back at the ranch, looking for his mate, as he doesn’t believe Paige is his one. He even thinks he can transfer his feelings to another woman.
Paige is just too pathetic to like as a heroine. One kiss and the threat of having her memories wiped and she is telling Adam she has loved him for years.
Really, this timid mouse who couldn’t even say hello suddenly blurts out that.
What happens to Paige just made me roll my eyes. Their own stupid rules bite them in the backside.
And even better, the memory erasing, which is not reversible at all as they damage the brain, is done with no pre-meeting, no protocol, the person is just grabbed and either has their memories removed or killed.
Really good sensible safeguard system they have going on there. The witches just take the word of one person, nobody double checks with anyone else, even the Alpha couldn’t control or stop it from happening.
This book is why I stopped reading this series.
I got so angry at this whole taking someone’s memories, their very life away from them, it’s disgusting. Bad enough they lose everything they owned and their job. What if they had a family, children? Talk about heartache for a selfish reason.
And then it is all magically fixed. Everyone apologies to everyone else and everyone involved, even Paige, take the blame.
The alpha female Tonya, who has a hard, nasty side shown in previous books, then states it was meant to happen that way.
HEA for everyone then..
Why did the couple who shifted where they shouldn’t have, TWICE, not get punished? They caused the whole problem but get off Scot free. This couple, by the way, are also the ex-friends with benefits she wolf and her new mate.
ORIGINAL REVIEW from many years ago.
Just scrapes to a two-star review.
It’s been a long time since I read one of these and now I remember why.
Not a world I enjoy when they threaten to wipe memories or dispose of people who learn about werewolves.
I hate timelines that just don’t make sense.
There is no build up between these two at all, no connection and really no story.
Seriously, Paige is apparently so shy, not months, but years go by because she cannot speak to Adam. WTH.
She works in a bakery and has to deal with people all the time..
Saying that, Adam was busy boinking another woman for 10 years, who he thought he’d mate with, so maybe he was just stupidly blind too.
Adam finally notices Paige but then attempts to connect with any she wolf he can meet as he doesn’t believe Paige is his one.
Everything happens between these two in basically a 24 hours period.
Paige is just too pathetic. One kiss and she is telling Adam she has loved him for years. Really, this mouse who couldn’t even speak to him suddenly blurts out that.
What happens to Paige just made me roll my eyes. Their stupid rules bite them in the arse.

With several families of wolves in town for a moon run, Adam VonBrandt surely has a chance at finding a mate among all those single women in this riveting VonBrandt Family romance.

Paige Wheeler has to see her big, smiling rancher every Friday and the reader can’t help but get caught up this story as Paige sees something she shouldn’t and suddenly becomes Adam’s biggest priority. This is one unexpectedly different romance, it definitely has the sizzling chemistry and steamy passion of a mating but the manner in which it comes about and some adrenaline pumping scary events almost ensures that it doesn’t happen at all. And course, the fact that the characters are strong and compelling and the story is well written, fast paced and full of suspense and romance draws readers in and holds them captive throughout.

There was only one problem with the story, it was over to quickly, because of the differences, it was a very enjoyable and unique reading experience.

4 ½ STARS

Paige moved to Somewhere Texas 6 years ago to join her friend in her new bakery, and for 6 years Paige has had a crush on Adam VonBrandt. It’s so bad, she tongue-tied around him to a point where he thinks she doesn’t like him. Adam keeps returning to the bakery every Friday because he likes Paige’s baking, and Paige wouldn’t miss a Friday, whether she’s working or not. Adam, a werewolf, had had his eye one a woman as a potential Fated mate, but there was no real connection, and when she finds her One, Adam is all alone. One Friday, Adam is all flustered when Paige is not at the bakery. She accidentally got the day off, which was not such a bad idea, because she thinks she’s hallucinating and seeing werewolves. Humans must not know of their existence, and when she gets her nerve and finally has a real conversation with Adam, she tells him about her “hallucinations. He decides that she must be told, he doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her and he trusts that she will tell no one, but things go downhill fast

TO FIND A MATE is the fourth book in the VonBrandt Family series, and possibly the finest one to date, and it works perfectly as a standalone. Adam and Paige are superb characters, quite different from what we’re used to see, and really nice people to boot. They’ve had their signals confused for six years; they just couldn’t see what was right in front of them, and it was entirely plausible. Ms. Shannan wonderfully illustrates the Fated bond. The connection between Adam and Paige felt real, just like the type of thing that happens in real life. There’s quite a bit of tension, sexual and otherwise, and when something goes horribly wrong, there are some frenzied and heart-stopping moments, and there is one humongous plot twist that I never saw coming, tragedy struck, and it was marvellously resolved. TO FIND A MATE is Krystal Shannan at her very best: engaging characters, great storytelling, flawless writing, fabulous dialogues, and a romance that feels totally genuine. Super!

To Find A Mate is book four in the VonBrandt Family series by Krystal Shannan and Camryn Rhys. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by one of the authors.

We are back in Somewhere, Texas on the VonBrandt family ranch. It’s almost time for the monthly run with the full moon and they have a houseful. Adam VonBrandt has had a casual long standing sexual relationship with a female shifter and suddenly she has become mated to another. Even though they weren’t fated mates, he always thought they would eventually become mates. They did share a mutual connection. But when she explains that she has met her fated match, it saddens Adam that he will probably never find his.

chocolate croissant and coffee:

Once a week, every Friday, for the past six years, Adam has gone into town to the bakery to buy a chocolate croissant. It is the highlight of his week. His mouth waters just thinking about how good it smells inside the bakery and the feeling of comfort he always gets when he goes inside. This Friday, though, something is off. It smells different. And where is Paige, the shy girl that usually waits on him?

Horse

Paige Wheeler moved to Somewhere six years ago and went to work at the bakery. Paige has a love of both horses and baking. She purchased a little farm and got herself a horse as well as the perfect job. Her highlight of the week is also Fridays. You see, she has been in love with the tall rancher that comes in every Friday for six years. But she’s too shy and nervous to talk to him. So she just dreams about him and waits for Friday to come around until she can see him again. This particular Friday her boss didn’t schedule her to work but she found an excuse to come in anyway and through the shenanigans of her boss, she ended up sitting with them in the dining area. She can’t believe she is actually sitting here with him after all this time. Now if she could just compose a coherent sentence.

That morning when Paige had gone outside to sit on her favorite rock and watch the sunrise, she saw something unbelievable. She saw two humans change from human to wolf. The soup she ate the night before must have had bad mushrooms in it to cause her to hallucinate like that. So sitting in the bakery with Adam she finds herself nervously rambling on about what happened.

Adam is shocked to hear that Paige saw a shift. That is against werewolf law and if his alpha found out, they would insist her memories be erased. Adam doesn’t want this to happen so he decides to spend the afternoon with Paige. The more time they are together, the stronger the pull becomes. Magick is at work and Adam slowly realizes that Paige might just be his fated mate. He has to protect her. But circumstances arise that again puts Paige in the wrong place at the wrong time and she is in danger.

sexy in the kitchen

I have loved this series from the start. When I started this newest addition, I thought it would be a sweet story of Adam finding his mate. I couldn’t have been more wrong. These 81 pages are jam packed. I did not expect the intensity I experienced at all! You know when something big is happening and you find your heart beating extra fast and your eyes start trying to move faster to see what is going to happen? Well, that happened! And, if you are a fan of hot, sexy times in the kitchen, well, that item will be checked off as well. These two do enjoy the kitchen.

This story can be read as a stand alone. But why not start at the beginning and visit the sexy VonBrandts in Somewhere, Texas. I hope you’ll enjoy your visit there.

Got this because it was free and I was in the right sort of mood, but wow did it take a dark turn in the middle I wasn’t expecting. I did predict the resolution, but honestly I don’t think it made up for what happened in the interim…not for me anyway.

I’ve got a problem with what happened. I’ve got a problem with the characters all seeming to think what happened would have been okay if they’d only had Aaron’s permission, or that it would have been okay if only Paige hadn’t been some werewolf’s mate. Really? What happened was forcible kidnapping and permanent brain damage to someone who was in a place they belonged while doing their job when they witnessed something because of someone else’s extreme carelessness. In fact, before I realized how serious the consequence was going to be for Paige, I mostly marveled at the lackadaisical attitude these werewolves all seemed to have about security when living intermingled with humans who don’t know about them. Where was the sense of responsibility toward the unsuspecting human community that gives the wolves shelter? Couldn’t easily get past the high handed criminal treatment of someone who was more victim of circumstances than offender.

If the middle didn’t exist, I guess I’d feel okay about this story.

Wow! Never Hated a story this much, that didn't involve some kinda abuse.

Wow,just wow.... This was this ones the goofiest, silly, convoluted stories I've ever read... 1st Paige was soo awkward it almost made my teeth hurt, soo shy she seems backward one moment and verbal diarrhea the next, and while I know that sorta thing happens in real life ,she was soo awkward to read about/watch it was almost physically painful at times... Then when stubborn horn dog Adam finally gets a clue he's found his mate her, he's slower than a half frozen slug in a Vermont winter, and wanting to try on other females for size coz he's more in denial that if he was in the river

I liked the characters but the memory spell thing just makes me furious with the author. This spell not only wrecks their past life, it makes it impossible for them to have a future life. How is that any better than killing someone? Why would you even make up something so monstrous? And the fact that her characters are willing to use this spell just makes them all monstrous. There were not enough serious consequences visited on the couple that shifted into the open or the security guards that didn't follow orders. I think the lot of them should have been punished for this. Honestly though, the whole situation just makes me so angry I couldn't enjoy the happy ending.

Find a Mate. I received the book as an ARC member in return for an honest review. Wow! I loved this book! I felt the emotions of all the characters. Adam carries himself in such a way that you can't help but love him. In the beginning he is naive about how to find his mate and if he ever will. Only to realize later that he has met his mate Paige.
The story had me laughing, crying, and loving how the story ends. Paige is a strong human willing to accept strange things happening around her just as long as she can be in Adam's life. This book had a wonderful happy ever after!

A fabulous addition to an already great series!! This one was a bit more emotional for me with the witches doing a spell to erase Paige's memories after she inadvertently witnesses a couple wolves shifting while making a bakery delivery to the VonBrandt ranch. A fated romance between Paige and Adam that's been 6 years in the making. Sweet, steamy and absolutely magickal.

To Find a Mate (Somewhere, Texas, The VonBrandt Family, #4)
by Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan

Adam has known his true mate for several years, only he didn't realize it. When he finally does it looks like it is to late.

There are rules governing what happens when a human sees one of the pack shift. It looks like Paige is about to forget all about Adam, the shifters and herself too!

I'm a big fan of the VonBrandt family and I enjoyed this one. You have Adam who thought he would mate with his best friend, but it was not meant to be. He now has to find his mate. What happens if she was right in front of him the whole time. Right off I like Paige because she's a baker. Paige looks forward to Adam's weekly bakery visits. There is a heartbreaking moment in this book, but what Adam does afterwards shows the love he is capable of. Great read with awesome engaging characters.

In To Find a Mate: Somewhere, TX Adam VonBrandt feels like the only one in his family that has not found his fated mate. Little does he know that his fated mate has been right under his nose for the last six years.

A series of incidences lead to a series of 'what if' questions and a happy ending, with his little baker after almost losing Paige, his fated mate. Cute couple, cute story line and best of all the happy ending in To Find a Mater: Somewhere, TX.

Adam's turn

Adam's turn to find a mate brings us to Paige. She is a baker. He has seen her every Friday at the bakery without realizing she is his mate.
She accidentally sees a couple of wolves shift and things spiral out of control crazily from there.

Something missing

There was a lack of story with this one, no relationship building between the H and h, it just went from not there to there. There was a bit of indicated history between them, but nothing we get to really feel. Paige has had a “crush on Adam for 6 years before things pop off! Adam is in the bakery every Friday for all that time. Paige is super closed off to interacting with Adam, seemed overly so, like there is some history of trauma for her that has her that way, something, but there’s nothing spoken of.
If the wolf shifters are kept secret, it made no sense that they would have pastries delivered to the house the morning after a run when all the shifters having shifted back or would be shifting back and returning to the house. If the bakery owner, who was said to be sick, and reason Paige was making the delivery, is in the know, that would be one thing, but there is no information to indicate he is, and if he is, he would know it need to be secret and having Paige deliver would not be done.
Adam is yelling and desperation pouring off him at the witches house, and they don’t stop to ask what’s wrong? They just try to placate him with it’s OK, it’s been taken care of? What? Are they absolutely stupid? Incredibly dense to the point of idiocy? He’s yelling at them to bring Paige to him, give her to him. Why would he be worried about that if what they did was OK to have been done? Why would he even be racing in their home? And one of them was previously questioning if it was OK to be doing what they did at the time, and knew that the alpha’s permission had not been expressly given. It was ridiculousness.
And Miles and Lee, they are in the habit of disregarding their alpha, and how they’re supposed to obtain permission? Not according to their alpha, who says they would not do anything of this nature without his permission. So why did they now? After all was said and done, there was no real repercussions from the alpha, it was fluffed off, basically, with a whole bunch of nonsense of It was my fault; no, it was my fault; no, it was my fault foolishness.
And it really does not make any sense that all memories would be taken, long-term memories. It would only be needed for short term memories, things had just happened that day and day before.
HEA is there, crisis averted rather quickly, though Adam not knowing the mating words and having to have big brother alpha say them was quite lame. Took away from the specialness of mating. Not sure on continuing the series. Probably will give it a go, with expectation of it being better, otherwise there’ll be no going forward to a third book.

(1.5-2 stars)
Adam has just found out that his casual sex partner has bonded with another after ten years. Meanwhile the extra capacity at his brother’s ranch has been noticed by the locals. When the local pastry shop girl, Paige, mentions she must have been hallucinating this morning when she saw a couple making out before transforming into wolves and running away. He tasks himself with finding out just how much this human knows and if his pack’s secrets are in danger. He struggles to understand how he hadn’t taken much notice of Paige when she moved to Somewhere, Texas six years ago. Perhaps Fate is having a laugh, but he feels the pull of magic around the girl. While he’s exploring,g she sees another shift and he races to protect her from the werewolf security team.
* * * * *-------------* * * * *-------------* * * * *
Another short shifter erotica of the werewolf fated mated variety. She’s a variant of the awkward manic pixie girl and he is modeled after roguish cowboys of yesteryear. It tries to give the less than 24 hours from real first conversation to forever marriage a bit more substance with lip service to unexpressed feelings. I like the idea but in execution it hurts characterizations, making her too timid and him too oblivious. While it makes the world building feel thin, it works fine as a stand-alone entry. It’s simplistic and has an inconsistent tone. Beyond the controversial climatic conflict, it works as a disposable time waster for genre fans. Think cotton candy. Nonetheless, that conflict will polarize audiences. The lack of safety protocols, avoidance of modern technology, psychotic impulses, and abuse of chain of command that happens for her entire long-term memory to be obliterated is shocking. The extreme nature of this magic is appalling and the simpler than an etch-a-sketch undo process is baffling. The rest is rather straightforward young love angst, hormones, and self-doubt. But that section paints everyone with a uniformly terrible brush for almost no reason.

I have read books by these authors before and always find myself drawn into the drama the fascinating characters find themselves in, while trying to understand why everyone else around them seem to be getting what they wanted from life, while destiny seems to have another idea for them.
Adam has spent his life being ready to defend his family and protect them at all costs.
He finds himself craving for the one person who would complete him, or was he going to be a man who had to be content with never finding her.
Paige had always had a huge crush on Adam, but due to her shy personality, she never allowed anyone to get close to her or get to know her.
Laws had been established to ensure no one ever found out shifters existed, but as often happens, actions were taken, and a person's life and existence are destroyed, causing destruction to those who just wanted happines.
An easy read with definitely intense emotional pain weaving it's way through the dramatic life altering situation a number of characters find themselves in.
Even though a quick read, this storyline will have a definite impact with curve ball ending to the reader.

I really was drawn in to the first chapterss of the book, but in chapter 5 there was a shift that I really didn't like. There was a sister-in-law character who was, it seemed to me, unnecessarily rude / annoying to the hero followed immediately by his ex acting completely differently than when we had previously seen her. This led to the hero seeming very petulant, as well. This didn't match what I had read in the previous chapters and threw me off. The story picked up with a particular event and was quite exciting, but I still struggled with the writing overall. For example, all but the hero and heroine were one dimensional. Which was a bit much, for my taste. I think part of this was because it's such a short story that the development of the other characters and the overall arc suffered as a result. I enjoyed the story so I'll give it four stars, but it's really more of a three-star book, I think.

Its my fault?!

Okay no, it's not cool when the bad guys don't get their comeuppance and everyone is trying to take the blame like a really freaking bad Halmark movie. I could deal with the insta love and the roller caoster whiplash emotional outbursts that aren't logical but that scene completely ruined what might have been a really decent book for me.

A whole line of people do really crappy things in this story and whoosh forgiven with no consequences and no changes and it completely ruins the story. I want fiction that allows me to pretend that there's good in the world and that when someone does a bad thing they face consequences for those actions not getting a freaking dopey hug. There's a reason everyone rails on cheesy Halmark movies. It's because they're ridiculous as was this resolution.

I gave up at 41% because I couldn't take it any more.

Paige has supposedly been madly in love with Adam for the entire 6 years she has worked at the bakers even though she doesn't speak to him and only sees him for his Friday bakery visit. Adam has been friends with benefits with a female shifter for the past 10 years and thought they would mate one day even though they weren't fated so he somehow hasn't noticed Paige is his mate, he only noticed Paige now because the female shifter found her true mate.

Paige happens to see two wolves shift but blames it on "bad mushrooms" and then blurts everything out when she goes to the feed store with Adam. He "breaks her heart" by kissing her then running away. She doesn't even know he ran away to sniff around every available female wolf that is currently at the ranch hoping the bond he now feels to Paige will transfer...

Another fantastic twist

Paige works at the bakery, silently waiting on Friday when Adam comes into the store. For 6 years she's felt drawn to him, loving every moment in his presence.
Adam goes to the bakery as usual but for some reason it doesn't smell the same. Somethings missing, or someone's missing. Where's Paige? Is she sick? When she finally shows, pieces click together. He thought it was the smells of the bakery that kept him returning but it really was her. Could she be his fated mate? Why did it take so long for him to recognize it? Was it because she was human?
There was one part of the story that had me in tears. It reminded me of the movie, The Notebook. A very satisfying story.

If Adam didn’t care all that much for his ex- why was he meeting her at midnight at the start of the story? Couldn’t he have thought about how it would have been nice for her to text him the info, and moved on? It makes it look like he’s hung up on her, and then the very next morning things start with Paige. Um.. no. Adam didn’t endear himself to me any more chasing around the unmated wolves, and the fact that he was thinking of sleeping with one just before things really took off?

I did like that the author let something bad happen to the FMC. I even thought for a moment that things wouldn’t be okay, but knew it had to be.

Because of the way the story played out, I gave it 4-stars, but if it had started better, I'd probably have given it 5-stars.

Nope, Nope, I'm not 16

I like stories with at least a little realism and emotion. This was just not it for me. Why? Well, 1. Shifters are such a secret buttt everyone walks around naked and bumps wherever. 2. He's says he is too old for her yet who knows how old he is??? 3. He shares a kiss with her and just hours later hits on a girl thinking that ''well she looks just like her, why not??? Really and when she comes to the door only minutes later he's flipped again. 4. The whole house party thing reads like an orgy in the works with everyone naked yet she delivers pastries, haha and doesn't seem to notice. .. Just Nope!!! Delete, delete

An emotional love story.

This story about how both indecisive Paige and Adam where, was more about their evolving emotions with little outside story. It also read like there was a book before this that was missed, so it needed a lot more backstory. I'll have to see if there was a prequel book about his brother the alpha. I think this needs to be in a set or something. Just ho-hum. Sorry. Their emotions rang true even if they seemed a little "high school-ish" so there was that.

Is it Magic When You're Fated to be together?
