It’s worth the reading, of course!

The Trouble With Him is the 3rd book in The Forbidden Love Series. This story is about Austin and Ava. Surprise pregnancy/forbidden. I so love this series and I just can’t get enough of this family. Once again the banter with this whole crew is addicting. Sweet ending with a nice epilogue and a sneak peek at the next book which is about another family member.

I received an ARC of this book and this review is my honest opinion.

I absolutely adored reading this book. It had a bit of everything in it, capturing my attention from the prologue.

I loved how Ava’s story was so real and honest. I could really sense how she was feeling and the decision she made to help with her anger, a one night stand that changed life forever.

Ava is the second eldest daughter of Lex and Charlie Edwards and incredibly successful in her own right. This book really brings out all that is Ava, whether it is the rich business owner or the vulnerable woman that lies underneath.

Her family is everything to her but her decision for comfort and more with a long lost friend could wreck that.

I loved how the whole family was in this book, not just because of who they are, but they all added to the storyline. Even Eric was back with a bang and as ever he’s just as inappropriate and very funny!

This book is full of sexual tension, sexual chemistry, hot scenes with a great storyline. The dynamic in this book is so good, it was totally not what I was expecting as what I’ve just read is so much better. The Edwards family are just amazing and their love and support to one another I could truly feel coming off the pages. This book made me laugh, angered me and also gave me goosebumps. A definite must read!

“Edwards girls are born to break hearts.

this story follows Ava who is Lex & Charlie’s second daughter. Ava find her bf cheating on her. She goes to a bar and runs into her sisters ex fiancé Austin. They both have had a bad day so they drink and have fun, one thing leads to another and they end up having a one night stand. Months go by and Ava finds out she’s pregnant. now she has to confess her little secret to her sister and family.

Ava’s character is misunderstood. I feel like she hides her true personality and people end up thinking the worst of her. I did find her character annoying at times.

Austin. Honestly he’s a good guy. He stepped up. But if I’m being completely honest. I did not feel the chemistry between him and Ava. Which is the reason for the low rating.

It is fast paced but it does give me a bit of the miscommunication trope.

Read this if you like :

- surprise pregnancy
- forbidden romance (he’s her sisters ex fiancé)
- one night stand

This was enjoyable, not my favorite so far I didn’t really enjoy Austin as much. He didn’t really do anything for me, but I did enjoy the storyline. I was mainly invested with Ava and Amelia‘s storyline in this and I also enjoyed any mention of Amelia and Will in this their side story in this was so sad, but I’m so glad they ended up happy at the end of it.

Sexy, emotional, heartfelt ... exceptional

If there is one thing I have learned from reading Kat T. Masen's books, she knows how to write sexy, emotional and heartfelt stories. Stories that can have me laughing and shedding tears simultaneously. THE TROUBLE WITH HIM is another of those stories. With a storyline that had me submerging deeper with every page turned. with a family whose dynamics are as mixed as a packet of M&Ms, and two people who won my heart because of their predicament. This story ... Ava Edwards' story ... captured my heart.

"What we're doing is breaking all the rules. It's a recipe for disaster."

New Year's Eve is meant to be a time for celebrating, but for Ava it is a time to drown her sorrows. She finds herself in an Irish Bar ringing in the New Year with strangers and too much whiskey, until a blast from the past walks in. Being at her most vulnerable and enjoying the company of her new companion, a one night stand ensues and some morning after regret. What has she done? Four months later comes the news that will change everything, news that will definitely tear her family apart ...

Some things are best to walk away from, no matter how much it aches in the moment."

Life often throws out curveballs, Ava has been thrown two, an unexpected surprise and a man who is forbidden because of just who he is. What happens when that man is the perfect man though? Do you walk away or do you stay and fight for what your heart wants? This is the decision that Ava must make. Once Ava's secret is divulged her family is torn, sides not necessarily taken, but hearts are definitely broken, and anger certainly displayed. All through the turmoil Ava stands strong, resolute in her decisions, yet hurt and destroyed by the one person she has always relied on. Ava's heart is pulled in two directions, breaking her apart, but she knows she must do what is right for her and the man she has grown to love. Her decision, which I applauded whole-heartedly, was right for her and her man. They had a wonderful chemistry together, a heat and a passion that was felt deeply through Kat's beautiful words.

"This magnetic force between us is so strong, like gravity pulling us together to sync the beats of our hearts."

From beginning to end, Kat took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride, laughing, crying, feeling anger and frustration, and experiencing love unbounded. Between Ava and her man there was plenty of sexual chemistry, tension and passion, tender moments that made me sigh lovingly, and a possessiveness that was a sheer delight to witness. Of course, Kat has the entire extended Edwards family involved, with Eric throwing out some one-liners that had me howling with laughter, Nikki has a few of her own too. And Lex, he really gets to show his tender side, his dad side ... I just love that man.

THE TROUBLE WITH HIM was another exceptional read from Kat and shouldn't be missed. Now to wait for Andy's story, especially after that sneak peek.

The read was good as always, however this is the first relationship that had no chemistry whatsoever. I did not feel it between Ava and Austin. It felt contrived. Kat tried to nurse Austin’s heartbreak from Amelia, with Ava, and she was a wrong choice for him. A story line building up to Lane and Austin being together may have been a better idea to roll with.

Amelia and Will being upset that Ava is pregnant by Austin is beyond me. They are both incredibly immature when the situation is brought to light. I understand Amelia failing to become pregnant irritates her, but her tantrum was uncalled for. She did sort of made up for it by planning the shower, but still, I did not fancy her behavior. Will is also a bit too old to be caught up in his feelings about Ava and Austin’s relationship. Treating Amelia differently speaks to his immaturity.

Ava being jealous by Lane’s few appearances is ridiculous!

Ava and Austin’s wedding should have been written out in detail and not summed up in a single chapter rushed down by other minute events taking place. Again, no chemistry. It just felt like they got to this point only because she fell pregnant by Austin. If that didn’t occur there would be no way they’d end up together. They have completely different personalities and lifestyles. It just didn’t mesh well for me.

The writer's keeping it in the family lol. Hooking up with your sister's ex fiance? No problem. Should be fun. Accidental pregnancy? Awesome. Just what I was looking for. NOT.

The author does not try to be original. Although I haven’t read the previous series, I’ve read the blurbs and reviews to know enough that this is a rerun. Same plot same drama with the second generation now.

The relationship between Austin and Ava was just so awkward and uncomfortable. What the writer tried to do is force a connection between them. But nope, I was not convinced. No way I am gonna accept that they are in love.

These people are so shallow! How is a vagina ugly?!! Why are they talking about vagina reconstruction and disrespecting women. As for the Edwards women are the goddess of this world. Screw yourselves every one of you. No single character in this book in this series can hold intelligent conversation.

I REPEAT.
These characters are unoriginal, unattractive, snobbish, selfish, shallow, superficial, horrible pretentious rich pricks. Every single one of them. Recycled and lame plots.

Ava’s story wins!

I have read every one of Kay’s books including the old stories. Let me tell you Ava’s story didn’t go where I thought it would. It did with the man I knew she would end up with but I wasn’t expecting a secret pregnancy.
It just made me so clucky, that I now want another baby.
There is a part where I wish we found out who was the leak officially because that’s going to keep me up.
I’ve read this book over two nights. Basically I’d read till I’d pass out. That’s how good the story is. Only a few authors have me reading like that and Kay’s one of them.
With lock down and the uncertainty of the real future I am so glad to get lost in Ava and Austin’s story.

I think out of these books, with their multiple series and generations, these were the only two characters I was happy ended up together. Although if you are squeamish about reading a MMC who has slept with sisters this will not be for you. I liked Ava, I liked Austin and I liked they got a HEA. Everyone else as always in this series annoyed me. And as always even though some of these people have to be close to sixty they are still hot! hot! hot!. Cause that is what is important right? And still so fucking immature.

When everything goes right, it can go perfectly wrong, under a façade she had everyone fooled and then her life fell apart. A long-lost friend who she considers family, but comfort led to more, and a mistake was made that changed both their lives forever. And because of one forbidden night, chances are the news will destroy her family.

Suddenly everything they do is pulling them together. There attraction is undeniable, nothing is innocent and fun, but that is what is turns into. With secrets between them, the truth they can no longer ignore is about to implode.

Denying their attraction to one another was hard, but when they came together it was electrifying. The way they loved each other, there relationship forbidden, there love provocative, the romance heart-warming and beautiful, there love so passionate, he desires her more than anything else, and in the end, they could not deny the inevitable.

Ava and Austin fight each other at every turn, but she cannot help but be responsive to the way he touches her, the way he makes her feel, she is determined not to feel, but she has this need inside of her that only he can satiate.

Their love was like no other, these characters will impact you in unusual ways, there story will have you crying, laughing, saying what the f!@# to those moments where you hated to love, but love to hate, grieving with them as they hurt, fought, healed, and loved. This book had it all friends to lovers, secret pregnancy, family turmoil, bone melting steam, there love a slow burn that will break your heart and put it back together.

The secrets, the lies, the twists, the turns lead to the inevitable, the truth, each hurting their friends and family in the process, even though that was not their intention. There is a perplexing tangle of hurt, anger and denial, powerful in themselves.

The different point of views told a telling story, it holds so much mystery, adrenaline seeking suspense, slow burning passion, friendship, lust, loyalty, trust, it will hook you, have you turning the pages to find out more. The backstory of our characters defines who they all are now in the present, it enables the readers to really connect with the characters.

Their story was raw and sensual, as it was powerful and confronting. It was fast paced and thrilling, it made my heart race and soar to unfathomable heights. The author knows how to write, to ensnare her readers to ensure they will come back for more, if I could come back for more I would.

And those s€x scenes, in and out of the bedroom were down right sensually erotic, the filthy dirty talk and language an absolute turn on, daring, explosive, taboo, physical, provocative, possessive, controlling, oh so steamy, deliciously wicked, dirty, hot, beautiful, dark, naughty, raw, powerful, passionate, wet, dominating, and wild, and that happily ever after is everything a reader could want and more.

This is the 3rd book following Lex and Charlie’s grown children - now there are just some authors that can pull off keeping a series going by skipping forward to the children of your favorite characters. Kat T. Masen is a master at this! I loved Lex and Charlie and everyone that followed in the Dark Love series. Then the Forbidden Love series started with Amelia and now we get to meet Ava. Oh my I love these books just as hard as their parents!! I still couldn’t stop reading and devoured This story is one night!

I didn’t know what to expect with Ava. From the prologue to the end the story is wonderful, believable, sweet, emotional, all of the emotions!! What made this story even better?! All the older characters being woven in because the Edwards family (this includes Eric because he IS family) is just that - a family. I really appreciate when a follow on series includes the original characters because it feels like a true smooth continuation instead of just trying to write another story. Definitely read Dark Loves 6 books first then the first 2 Forbidden Love books, this COULD be read without the others, but the story is so rich when you know all of the background and feelings involved!

Cannot wait for the next book Kat T Masen!! So grateful to have the opportunity to read an ARC of this book, but chose to write a review on my own as everyone should know how wonderful her books are to read!

Happy!

spoilerssss

I enjoyed this book but I cringed so bad at the mention of Austin, I mean really? It seems to be repeating the same stories with the kids. Plus your sisters ex fiance is something that should be completely out of bounds, talk about yuck.

In saying that I ended up being team Austin lol but I didn’t think they should have got to the marriage part so quick. We didn’t really get to see their relationship build, most of the time it felt like Ava was with Eric. So I would have liked for them to spend more time together.

Also how did Lex get soo soft in this one? Maybe because it’s been 2 years in between Amelia’s & Ava’s story but this is the most non-reactive he’s ever been.

I thought Austin was a really great guy, I like that he was still a bit possessive but really mellow compared to Lex & Will.

I love how close the families all still are, I really love hearing about Noah & Kate too because they were my faves, but mostly I love hearing how Lex & Charlotte are still soo in love, I feel it in all these books & it’s just beautiful.
I like this build up of Andy & Jessa lol I’m really looking forward to their book.

Raw, angsty and totally all consuming! Kat T. Masen has delivered again and this roller coaster is about to take off so hold on tight and let the emotion flow through you as Ava Edwards navigates her way through this new challenge in her life.
We see a different side of Ava in her story, and WOW we even see a different side of Lex Edwards if you can believe that (but maybe some things aren’t so different ;) ). Life is good until Ava is thrown a curve ball and you know what they say, all the bad luck comes in 3’s and then some.
It’s what comes next that makes you sit up and take notice of how Kat T. Masen can write the perfect storyline that keeps you riveted to the pages and wanting so much more. The emotional pull that she can conjure up in you is so strong that you just gravitate to every part of these people's lives and the story she is giving you.
Oh and Surprise Surprise, you aren’t going to believe who the baby daddy is!
A totally fulfilling read and worth all the stars.

I want to go into this story leaving the twists as twists, so this recap may be vague. Ava finds herself lost and vulnerable at the beginning of this book and like many people do finds comfort in the arms of someone else on new years eve. This one night stand doesn't stay a one night stand though when she she discovers four months later they created a baby. Not only is she pregnant but the father of the baby is a bit of a shocker that will cause havoc in Ava's life once that secret is revealed. I like Ava and her hero, I thought they were a match that fit together well. Though they had some rocky starts a few times they worked well together and had good chemistry. This book did have angst maybe in a different way than the other two books in the series. I will say I think I love Millie and Will so much, I found myself having a harder time attaching to these characters with the same ferocity. Regardless I still enjoyed this book and find this series to be highly entertaining

Austin and Ava - Ava’s start to the new year gets rocky with her promotion night at a club gets handed to a younger influencer 5 hours before showtime and she walks into HER apartment to find her boyfriend in bed with another man inside of him 😳 Ava decides she needs to go somewhere she doesn’t normally to forget about her troublesome day. Austin’s day is about the same, a kid comes in and they can’t save him. He questions his choice of being a doctor and decides he needs to go somewhere to get a strong drink. Ava and Austin run into each other at the pub and end up not ready to end their New Years night. One thing leads to another and they end up in bed with each other. The next morning they realize what happened and deemed it a one night thing so they don’t have to face the truth about Austin being her almost brother in law.

I am truly love Austin because he isn’t jerk like other men in the series however this book seems rushed. I want to give constructive feedback for the author because I’ve been reading the series also some of their parents’s books I’ve noticed the rushed of plot and anti-climax which unfortunate with so many potential in the plot. In next book author could try new or unused plot lines with built up slow burn scenes like how their feelings grow, how it torment them and with sweet thing lead to believe their in love because I haven’t find any scenes or situations/dynamics that make the characters could be in love in your book. All feels like lust. Also, cheating trope in your book or ow/om drama was quite unnecessary which make me more unsure if they truly love each other. The trilogy that you usually make could in one book as well and I hope I don’t offended you because I could see how you grow if you could improve this things. Thanks for writing and keep going on. 😄

This is my first ever review on goodreads..wow. I feel nervous! Here goes nothing... I loved this book. I thought at times the story moved a bit too fast for me. SPOILER ALERT - The break up with Austin was just kinda sprinted over. After their arguement he did not even fight for her. I know the end result is that Mille would end up with Will but come on... a little bit of Austin showing a back bone would have made their break up more believable to me. He just walked away AGAIN.

I tend to go for stories that are integrated with family like this book series. So, the story overall was so good that I struggled to put it down. Waking up in the middle of the night only to pick up the book and read until I fall asleep while reading it. Lol, I hope people find as much joy in reading this book series as I have.

A great love story for Austin and Ava

This is book three, but I started her because the blurb pulled me in. I think Dr. Austin Carter is the real deal. He was the best person in this story. Ava is a wild card. She is the lead female character and is a good person too but she worried too much about things she had no control over. Ava worried about her sister Millie’s feelings about Ava’s own life. Ava also worried about everyone’s thoughts over her own feelings. That’s just not healthy and very stressful. This is a complex love story for Austin and Ava. However, Millie made a choice to build a future and marry Will, through thick and thin. I am glad that Millie and Will ended up making the mature decision accept Austin and Ava, but their outrageous behavior towards a pregnant Ava was not fair. Read On!

Austin & Ava’s story is basically Julian & Adriana but in a more stable manner. Not saying the grieving is unstable or anything like that.

Austin is definitely levelheaded & wonderful. The storyline itself was fine. Predictable & kind of boring towards the end.

I did wish Ava had a better ending with her being an influencer, & what happened to her in Miami, & how she felt like a washed up has been. I wish the ending was more impactful, like she changes the face of her clothing/ swim wear line & she changed her influencer status to cater to all women. Maybe she could have transitioned to being a mommy influencer & talk about all the pressures being in the spotlight & having to be “on all the time. but now being a mother, it’s changed what she posts, etc but we didn’t get that.

What can I say, Kat T. Masen is an amazing author who rights with passion. She has a way of drawing you into the stories and falling in love with the characters. I loved the book from beginning to end. I loved Ava's story...I did not want it to end. It's beautifully written. It's emotional. It's amazing. It has the unexpected pregnancy with the last person you would think and the forbidden romance. I loved how the story unfolds. Your laughing one minute then your heart is breaking the next. For me, it had all the elements an amazing book, it had the forbidden romance, it had love/heat/passion, the suspense, the drama and in the end love prevails. It's a must read.

I recommend this book and any book by this author. You will not be disappointed.

I couldn’t wait to read Ava’s story as I just needed to know who her baby daddy is. Well I got my first inkling not too long into the story, but I was noooo it just couldn’t be!! Then the story shifted a bit and a potential new option was introduced and I was like yep I am happy with this new person. But of course Kat likes to torture her readers and the person I didn’t really want it to be ended up being the father!! So I must admit it took me a long, long time for me to be ok with this person. But I have to give credit where it’s due, because Kat couldn’t have written a better man for Ava. It was also great catching up with the Edwards family and the reveal of the next book coming - I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion:

This book is everything and more! Kat has way with words and this book did not disappoint. I loved Ava’s personality and tenacity for owning her shit and being successful. She is so independent that I think made it harder for her to get over the mental anguish of her and Austin’s situation. I do wish Amelia and Will had more in the story. Millie and Will are exactly the next generation Charlie and Lex and I LOVE that. Disclaimer: this book talks about miscarriage and infertility. I appreciate Kat talking about this and doing so in a gently and affirming way.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a perfect lazy Sunday read for me. I read it all in a day. It was very moreish!!

Ava and Ashton made a lovely couple. After an 'oopsie' encounter, these two actually have a relationship that does develop into something warm and fuzzy. Their relationship begins on a rocky foundation due to their previous family history, but despite this their chemistry, warmth and emotions become very entangled and gave me a lot of tingly feels.

A lovely book to read that is a complete standalone story, although part of a larger series of stories.

Such a great book

Kat Masen has done an amazing job. I couldn’t get enough of the book and read it all in one day. This story is about Ava and Austin. Again I recommend reading the first series Bad Love/Love Bad as you get a lot of history about the family. And I loved this series as well. I love how much the author incorporated the characters from past books. This book was definitely intriguing and you knew there was going to be drama and it didn’t disappoint. But it was just as great to see how Austin and Ava came together and how much they changed along the way and pushed through it together.

The perfect daughter has everything she wants or so it seems.
New years eve everything changes forever, will Ava lose everything or find exactly what she was ment to have all along.

He was always ment to be family, just took time to find the right sister.
Ava & Austin are what soul mates really look like, explosive right from the beginning. They had eye for no one but each other.
The reaction from Amelia & Will really bothered me, its justifiable to be feel anger that Austin is an ex but to be that livid because your sister is pregnant!
Really made me see Amelia in a new light.
Will has always come across as the spoilt hot head, but Amelia matches him just as much.

i wasn’t in the mood for an accidental pregnancy book, but here we are!
my problem with this book (and the previous books of the series) is the way that’s written. everything feels rushed and unnatural.

as for the characters, i always liked Ava and i was really excited to read her book but ngl when i found out that austin was the love interest i didn’t want to read the book.
i found it weird that ava ends up with her sister’s ex boyfriend, but ok. At least austin is a good boy and not a walking red flag!

tho im not a big fan of this series and the author’s writing style, im gonna keep reading them :)

OMG...Kat this book was so good.
Loved Ava’s story... this was so well written.
This was angsty, emotional, sexy as hell and heartfelt.
I was totally enthralled from the beginning till the end. I just couldn’t put this one down.
Loved that I also got my Lex fix 😉.
Awesome how this one just seemed to put things right... everything just seemed to be where it should be.
Glad Ava got the HEA she deserved with the someone who deserved her... always.
Loved it.

This series is good.

Wasn't sure at the begging of this story as Austin came across as a tad boring in the two previous books. Not sure how his character was going to be beefed out. But I soon got hooked. And Austin developed. As did Ava.

I did get annoyed with Will and Amelia attitude. I thought Will not handedness would have settled down, but nooooo, it raises it's ugly head. Luckily, a United family stays strong and works through difficulties.

A great read, a great series. Really love this author. She has mastered the art of story telling.
