After the Delphi League defeats the Fazullan invasion of Onisiwo, Catie is tasked with managing the Onisiwoen transition to the Delphi League as well as the repatriation of all the slaves from the Fazullan fleet. She has to navigate the complex diplomatic circles as different interests complete for advantage in the new age of interstellar trade.
Bob Blanton has been an avid reader ever since his mother first took him to a library at age five. He has toyed with writing for years since college but was always too busy to start a novel. The "stone series" developed almost by itself as he was trying to sleep on long flights to Asia and Europe. He managed to write it and two follow-on novels while he was working, but never had the time to polish them. After he retired to the beach in Mexico, the only thing that competes with writing is the sound of the ocean and sunsets over the water. Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading them as much as he has had writing them. Check back for other books as he continues to ply his new trade.
Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading about Matthew and his developing powers as much as he has enjoyed writing about them.
I’m afraid I’m beginning to lose interest in these books, I find them ‘bitty and it seemed like a lot of it was just filler. There were a few little incidents that kept me going, but I didn’t find the main storyline to relieve the barons of their wealth very convincing, it was far too easy and simplistic If possible I would have given 2.5 stars.
When you get to the 11th in a series you're going to expect some of what has come before and you hope for some new avenues to open up. In that sense, this book does not disappoint. The author gives us more of what's gone before that's good and less of the adolescent mush that a couple of the previous volumes have contained. I may be being a little hard as I guess as one of the major protagonists is a teenage girl this will be the case. the good thing is this book shows that character growing up and moving towards being a mature adult. The book also opens up new avenues in the tale with a good balance of character developments as well as plot twists. I even liked the cliffhanger ending even if it was not particularly original.
The issue I find when you develop multiple volume series like this is by the time you get 4-5 volumes in your selling it to an established audience, for a newcomer picking up this book I think it would be a frustrating read as you lack the background on the character and history that's been built up. Of course, you can argue that who picks up a series in mid-flight but it does happen. So to anyone reading this review unfamiliar with the series, I say start at the beginning it's worth it.
Overall a good volume of the series which is fairly self-contained but one which moves the story forward.
Princess Catie has been assigned to be the ambassador to a world that Delphi saved from invasion. She finds that the politicians are corrupt, and get in the way of her plan to uplift the people. Trying to remove an obstacle, someone tries to kidnap her. I like the action, humor and intrigue. It is fun to see Catie grow in political skill. Her plots to get even are entertaining. This is one of my favorite series, and it continues to entertain. I look forward to the next book.
Great sci-fi but really enjoyed the coak and dagger part of this installment
Cat visits one of the alien worlds as princess and ambassador. Then corrupt nobles and organized criminals try to kidnap her. The investigation to uncover the culprits and expose them was fun reading. I especially enjoyed the undercover operatives efforts to flush out "the man behind the curtain."
This is a very interesting series, with incredible detail on a number of subjects from mundane daily life to the logistics of loading a cargo ship.
Love these characters as I’ve said in the past. How can you not love Katie. This book had some intrigue plenty of action wit and humor. It also had a little entry going on. I just don’t see how the author prescribes insider trading which is illegal in the United States with the same aspects being on another planet that doesn’t wash with me assigning something that we consider illegal here to aliens on a different planet. Besides that great book
I read this series because it’s something to do in between book releases. But the series is a bit simplistic and formulaic if there’s a problem they hold a meeting and instantly a solution is reached. This book was a little better then the others. At least it stayed somewhat focused. Although, there’s still some meandering in the story line.
The storyline has the action we’ve come to expect along with some rather circuitous economics and stocks discussions. Some continued development of existing characters and the introduction of a few new characters. This installment also ends with a majority of story threads resolved and the introduction of a new near disaster.
While I really enjoyed the first 10 books in this series, I really do like the added "who done it" aspect in this one. While I love the space operas, the addition of the mysterious aspects of figuring out who did what, and why, makes for great brain exercise. Please keep them coming!
What a fun read...a bit of departure from the prior books. But I read the whole thing in almost one setting. Bob Blanton yet again brings his Delphi characters to a full real life, enough I wish I could move to Delphi and become a citizen. Book 12 won't come soon enough.
Following the adventures of Princess Catie and the rest of the Delphi characters leaves me wanting more, more, more. ADI gets to play as well and it all leads to an interesting cliffhanger. Love these stories, so I hope the author keeps them coming.
These 11 books have been very easy to read due to the writing style. I felt like I really got know the main characters so well. This series should interest Sanyo e interested in syfy Let alone most others. Pretty believable story line quite honestly. Can't wait to see if another book comes soon or not.
As the series progresses, more and more characters, more and more confusing and less and less entertaining, IMO. Finally gave up and returned the rest of the ser6, unread. Great characters and plot in the beginning but seemed to just wonder off into? Not sure what but I lost the storyline and ultimately the entertainment value.
I've become a readaholic with this book. It requires just the right balance of imagination and intelligence. The interactionof characters is entertaining and the social interplay is light and beleivable. Outstanding and memorable and challenging all at the same time. Well done!
This is and continues to be a nice series. I am very glad that I started it. The family connection through it is great. I wish we had more from other characters, but the cast has grown so large.
I eagerly anticipate each new release in the series and drop whatever I am reading to catch up and this one was everything I hoped. Can’t wait for the next one.
That was a great lesson in politics and payback. Spoiler alert. There might be some sparks flying and romance in the next book if the last few sentences have any weight to them. Thank you for such an enjoyable series.
This story of a genius family leading humanity into a spacefaring endeavors is everything that a Space Opera is supposed to be. It just kind of sucks how politics screw everything up.
I love this series! Great characters, great story, and always surprises. Anyone who wants a good series, this is it. Plenty of sci-fi, adventure, romance, and always a cliff hanger that makes you hungry for more!
Love the mixups she gets into. Glad they were able to help clear out the corruption on that planet. Wish we could do the same on earth. As for Prince Charming how about princess charming to the rescue?
And not only boring but a cliff hanger ending. I will not read the previous eleven volumes, nor will I read the next volumes. Now back to Viola Grace who writes 80 page novellas about snarky women in space.
Catie is caught up in a situation where the local government is corrupt and she needs to correct the situation. She uses her own resources and methods to best advantage. A great read.
I am glad to say the story never lagged and Catie and her people her people rather easily made life difficult or deadly for all the bad guys. I am looking forward to the next book!
Just like the rest of the series this one was full of surprises and some action . They are now branching out into different solar systems and along with that comes the growing pains and different challenges.
I like a good feel good Robin hood story. And that's basically what all the main characters in these books do. I like all of the main characters and their interactions with each other. And how their stories are progressing through each book.
Come on. Supposed to be a wholesome book. You get to prostitution and you get sick. That's just gross. No detail in plot. Until you treat woman like less than human
another excellent read in the Delphi universe. the Mckensies continue to try to lead humanity and their alien allies towards a peaceful trade and defense alliance.
