Elise Titel lebt als Autorin davon, dass sie ihre Leser möglichst lange an der Nase herum führt.
Das funktioniert jedenfalls so lange man kein anderes Buch von ihr gelesen hat. Hatte mir Eros aus anfänglicher Begeisterung für ihren Hollywood-Roman Todsünde gekauft, dessen Schwächen ich als Anfängerpatzer verziehen habe.
Tatsächlich sind die Charaktere bei ihrem Opus Nummer drei beinahe noch unfertiger und derart dahin geschludert, dass man nur seinem Schöpfer danken kann, dass man als Patient nie in die Hände dieser praktizierenden Psychologin geraten ist.
Ich will nicht behaupten, dass ich bei erster Gelegenheit gewusst hätte, wer der wirkliche Täter ist, aber gewisse Muster, die mir von ihrem Erstling vertraut waren, schlugen mir schon ziemlich früh aufs Gemüt: die Karrierefrau in der Krise, der ein abgewiesener Verehrer, der ihr jeden nur erdenklichen Tort antut, dieses mal ist es immerhin ein Halbbruder bei der Polizei und kein Film-Tycoon. Und da sein Tod nicht für die Handlung erforderlich ist, darf der Mann von der Sitte seine Wilderei im Mordrevier sogar überleben.
Im Mittelpunkt der Verdachtsmoment steht einmal mehr eine unwiderstehliche Blondine mit verlorenere Seele, um die man sich, dank Rettung auf der allerletzten Seite, keine weiteren Sorgen mehr zu machen braucht.
Der Täter ist einmal mehr ein abgewiesener Liebhaber (Kein Spoiler, gibt genug davon), der Retter einmal mehr ein Mann des Gesetzes, der vor der Verwicklung in den Fall in einer ganz tiefen Krise gesteckt hatte.
Die zweite Hälfte ist immerhin besser gelungen als die der verheißungsvoll begonnenen Todsünde, trotzdem befürchte ich insgeheim, dass mir der Schematismus von Frau Title beim dritten Werk schon früh jegliches Überraschungsmoment vermiesen wird.

Caroline is a psychiatrist specialising in treating sexual addictions, we are introduced to most of the characters in a group session she runs.
One night when one of her clients expresses suicidal thoughts she agrees to meet him but finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation where the victim has been sexually abused, gagged and throttled to death with a chain. Initially she is under suspicion as she hasn't always had a clear police record , more victims die and the hunt for the suspect widens.
I found this a great style of writing and despite the fact there are many characters introduced it is easy to get to know them all.Throughout the book I found myself thinking I had identified the killer to be proved wrong time and time again until almost the end.
Well drawn plot and though I only warmed to Ben ( the solicitor) it didn't stop me enjoying the book.

I really liked certain perspectives about this book especially when it comes to sex addicts. Also I like the art and mythology intertwined throughout the pages which made the novel all the more mysterious. :)
