The team has done everything right. They have killed off all of Adhava’s kids and in doing so denied her reinforcements, but now she has fled into a dungeon.
Adrian and his team need to hunt her down. Track her, find her and then destroy her in an environment she knows, controls and has had time to prepare to kill interlopers. It is not an exercise as Training Facilities in the Alpha Physic framework has the real chance of death and with Adhava trying to ambush them at every moment it is going to be a tough fight.
With discipline and luck, they might pull through and if they do the reward is a free Albury and a heap of experience that will position Adrian and the team to make the trip to Melbourne. If they fail there are no second chances.
Alex first fell in love with both computer games and writing when he was on a scholarship completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics. After graduating and getting a job, I put the whole being a novelist to the side while that pesky thing called life got in the way. A career in banking project managing the delivery of complicated quantitative applications resulted. Very stereotypical; Boring job as a banker - tick, Suburban home - tick Three kids - tick Two dogs - tick You get the point. A little thing called a global pandemic then came along and gave Alex a chance to return to his dream of becoming a writer. Having recently read a variety of LITRPG books, it was a genre that he was excited to explore in order to create a world that readers could immerse themselves into. With the familiarity of the gaming world gained from playing WOW, Skyrim, Fallout amongst others, there is simple joy in creating an imaginative magic filled world that is at everyone’s fingertips. In his writing, Alex aims to capture the feeling that he loves of being able to put yourself into a gaming world, develop your character and exploit the rules to the fullest.
A step closer is a step through trials that would break a lesser team
Adrian has assembled his team and connected with the Albury resistance. The time to strike is soon and with sole volunteers, his main group is going to finish what they started! Justice for Kozzie, Jamal, and countless others that this crime family has killed or abused. Maybe it’s fate that they cross and maybe the system behind it all is using Adrian’s dramatically advanced strengths as an equalizer for the whole town’s woes. Or it will just get him killed as he teeters the edge of luck and stupidity in his reach for the power needed to reach his family. They will need to leverage all their abilities and skills as well as some luck and daring schemes to succeed. Only death awaits them if they fail, so let’s not do that. There will be deaths as they are unavoidable in conflict and this whole planet is a conflict zone now. Once that mess is over, Adrian must gather the survivors of his team and get back on their journey to Melbourne and his family!
Im serious. The author actually thought this through logically. He actually has a plot. The next book will be torture to wait for. Absolutely worth reading this series. 11/10. Completely recommend.
I initially enjoyed the series and it’s fairly novel litrpg elements, but as the story progressed the characters became increasingly grating and the story subpar. If food, it’d be gas station food.
This was generally a very well written book. I have it 4 stars instead of 5 because of two plot decisions - 1) the decision to take up half this book with the struggle against the villain from the previous book and 2) the whole snake thing at the end. This book would have been much better if it was just about the journey to reach the MCs wife and kids. Also the whole snake thing just seemed really random and a poorly conceived plot device.
Ohhhh my gods. This book was soooooooo much better than the last one I read in the series. As Alex Kozlowski added all fun back into this series. And the reason why I latched onto the Adventure in the first place... I wish I had saved some of the many great quotes buried in this book! And believe they're there! I love Dungeon diving. It marked the end of the Albury saga and the final mob boss. So Adrian with what's left of his crew from Wagga along with additional resistance members from Albury volunteer to continue the trip to Melbourne!
This book is a little less eventful than previous books in the series and represents a transitional phase to what promises to be a solid climatic finish for the series.
I'm going to finish out the series, but I can see this universe getting another series in the near future with another large arc. For me, having an author know where they are going instead of just tap dancing makes all the difference.
Remember how Litrpg mc usually starts weak and grows OP well for a moment the last act in this book had me leaning on this impression. However the final few pages and I am immediately disabused of this idea. Mature approach to writing from the author, semi realism in fantasy settings all are still the strengths of this series. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Have to say, I have read a lot of different litrpgs. Quite a few of them are cut from the same cloth. But it's always enjoyable to see an author put their own special twist to the garment so to speak. This has been an such a great read so far and I can't wait for the finale also looking forward to other books from this author. Great job!
This was a great addition to the series - MC evolved past his whininess and allowed his reasonable issues to not be overwhelmed by his circumstances. Add in some good plot twists, nice plot development, and a splach of character development and you have the recipe for a well written and enjoyable novel. On to the next one!
This one is a lot of action. Our group may not make much progress towards their destination but on a personal level stats, skills and charges are expanding a lot. I had taken a little break since book 4 and it was great to return to Adrian and his friends. Now off to book 6.
I'm pausing my consumption of this series to leave this review. If you're on the fence about it, I hope this review is enough to tip you over. This is well written, enjoyable, and the MC isn't some kid but an adult. After a lot of books with kid/teenage/early adult MCs, I'm really enjoying these ones with older MCs.
I really love this story. It can be brutal but the characters have real personalities and it is easy to become vested in the main ones and really root for them. The world is so interesting and dangerous but also pieces together in such a satisfying way.
I love this book, it truly shows how realistic it would be to be in this world. The heavy tolls it would take to survive and how perseverance can help you to push through. The whole system is amazingly detailed and well thought out I can't wait for the next book.
It’s a really good book I look forward to the next one I will admit to skipping about 10 chapters in the middle I felt progression was too slow for my liking but I have to got back and read them to pick up what I missed
This is a great book in a great series. I would strongly recommend them all. It has good progression. There is an excellent use of conflict. The characters don’t just fly through all challenges.
This series is awesome. Our protagonist is a wonderfully flawed hero who only wants to see his family again, and of course it feels like the world is conspiring against him.
He's much less annoying in this one. He can still get on my nerves but is less cringe worthy. Little movement towards the final goal, but lots of character development. Tom out
The book is one of the few positives that resulted due to Covid. It’s a very good read. Well plotted, lots of action, and incredible innovative monsters.
