3.25 Stars for this “Second Chance at Love romantic suspense book. Mia spent years trying to go over her divorce to Jack, a man she still missed. Jack never thought he be given a second chance with the only woman he ever loved. Her father’s last wishes and the work of a vengeful person, bring these two together again.
Jack is a solid, likable character, that has nothing but the best intentions towards Mia. You could feel his love for Mia was the real thing. Mia isn’t the type of person to forgive. Her pride kept her from a father that loved her dearly, and ended her marriage to Jack. Honestly, I wasn’t sure Mia deserved a man like Jack back in her life. She certainly wasn’t willing to bridge her differences with her dad.
In between a couple of well-written intense scenes, and a few passionately played out love scenes, there was too much internal dialogue. Too many pages of this book dragged on with Mia replaying everything that had gone so wrong in her life. Those pages would have better served by further development of the suspense plot, as it was what captured my attention. I would be remiss, not to give a “Shout-Out to Bella, as she was my favorite.

If you love second chances, slow burn and the amnesia trope with some twists, this book will work for you. There were a few plot holes, but I didn't really mind, because this book is more romance than anything else.

Frozen in Time is a compelling second chance romance with a very good suspense plotline!
Jack and Mia seem the unlikeliest people to ever get back together, but Morgan James somehow manages to make that happen! The fun is in the details on this crazy ride!
The angst gets really redundant, which is normal for this genre, but it drags the pace of the book and feels over the top! Sadly this is also common in trilogies! One standalone without so much filler would have been a great story! This complete trilogy is still good.......

Super great storyline but

Great plot but too many too stupid to live moments. Can't believe it is that hard to craft characters who have some amount of intelligence.

If you like stories that mostly revolve around the two adults not communicating, you might enjoy this one. My personal thoughts on that are that a lot of authors in the romance genre tend to abuse that trope and it's gotten super old for me. 80% of the story would have been resolved if the main characters had simply used their words, rather than making assumptions and poor attempts at mind reading.

The other issue I have is that the suspense story was very flimsy. Jack goes back and forth between suspecting people and suddenly being convinced they are not the culprit in the matter of one page to the next. At one point, he and the sheriff, and even Amelia/Mia, suspect a character (will not say who to avoid spoilers) and yet they're all perfectly content to leave Mia alone with him. Someone made an attempt to kill her, they suspect it's this guy, but she just wants to confront him alone and they let her. Really? She also goes back to her cabin after someone broke in and tried to kill her. The sheriff thinks the person had a key. But he walks off and leaves her alone without even... changing the locks at least? There are just so many giant holes and flimsy plot devices, so I had a hard time buying the story at all.

The memory loss plot line was also strange and out of place and screamed of "plot device!"

The story started out solid. I thought it had great potential, but it needs tighter editing. This could have very easily been a single book. Not sure why it was marketed as 3, so I am glad I bought the "trilogy" as one. A good editor could have easily removed about 100 pages of repetitions and fixed typos, such as "illicit" when the author meant "elicit" and others.

I really wanted to like this. I'm a big fan of suspense. But it really fell short for me.

Angsty, coffee-drinking protagonist gets 2nd chance at love

This is a more immersive romance mystery because of its length; however, if the author removed the repetitious paragraphs where the protagonists ruminate over their lost love/marriage, the story would probably be normal length. I found myself skimming paragraphs and then pages where the characters pine for each other but won’t confess their misery.

Another aspect of the story that needs help is the passage of time. There are incongruities where the female protagonist has lost her memories for a week, longer than a week, and then nearly a week while in recovery. Wait! She didn’t get them all back, though, not until we have more angst and then a flashback. There is also repetition with the consumption of spaghetti or was that second meal just sauce and bread? Another overly used scene is when the heroine sits around drinking a LOT of coffee, feeling blue, and then dumping unfinished coffee.

Other plot holes: What happened to the robe? From where were the new clothes purchased? The town is too small for bags of clothes to be bought, and the storm should’ve blocked the highways. At one point our hero still has his pants on, and then he’s...ahem...can’t physically do what he’s doing you unless he removed them. Also, when did he pack his gun?

There are moments, mostly toward the end, where absurdly stupid choices are made by the characters. Kinda like when the teens go off separately into the dark in horror movies. Kinda kills the joy because it feels hokey and forced.

What is done well: Setting up multiple suspects. Describing the new buildings and their layouts. The sheriff is very likable, and dialog between him and the male protagonist is well done and believable. The dog and her behaviors are accurately described. The main characters deserve each other.

Cautions for sensitive readers: An animal is injured-but there’s an HEA, so relax. There are violent confrontations—what do you expect from a murder-type mystery? The themes of divorce, car accidents, and grief and loss are throughout. There’s a brief drinking scene, graphic sex scenes, some profanity, and moments of dire peril. There are numerous typos—mostly missing “filler words.

We are embarking on Jack and Mia’s love story trilogy with “Unrequited Love. Following Mia’s father’s death, she’s reunited in a surprising and unexpected way with Jack, her ex, except (well, that’s for you to read and find out). This is where the intrigue in their 2nd chance story begins. Not only are there unanswered questions about their past but the biggest question of all surrounds the mysterious watcher. You’ll be left wondering and guessing but most of all anxious to read on to see what’s coming. It’s a captivating start to what is sure to be an interesting and entertaining journey with plenty of twists and turns and a few ups and downs, but certainly nothing you won’t want to miss.

Jack and Mia begin slowly rebuilding their relationship in “Undeniable Love, although somewhat reluctantly on Jack’s part. But knowing that he’s holding back some pretty big secrets from Mia adds a lot of anticipation to their story; it’s like waiting for the other shoe to fall. Coupled with still not knowing the whole story of their past ourselves or who’s behind what’s been happening, the underlying suspense and intrigue keep building, again leaving you hanging on at the end, being so glad you’re reading this in a box set so you don’t have to wait to read what’s next for this engaging couple and how their captivating story is going to end.

Jack and Mia’s story continues in “Unbreakable Love. This is where the past and present collide, and how! All questions are answered and some quite surprisingly. It’s been a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, and as the plot thickens with Jack and Mia’s love hanging in the balance, not to mention their lives, you will remain glued to every page, held captive by what’s happening as well as what’s going to happen next right up until the end. This has been an exciting, suspenseful, often heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking, but always entertaining tale that is well worth reading.

First read from this author. I absolutely loved this book. It was fantastic from beginning to end. Mia and Jack totally deserved a second chance and this is what it was for them a second chance. I totally recommend reading this book. Morgan James did a fantastic job at bringing these two characters to life. You could still see the love they had for one another granted that got married young and maybe it wasn't their time then and they had to go through life as they had to get to where they are now, both had to grow into the individuals they are.

Too much graphic sex and hard core swearing.

People don't talk like that on a regular basis. At least, not the ones I hang around with. Could not enjoy it even a little bit.

People don't talk like that on a regular basis. At least not the people I associate with. Could not get past 20%. I gave 2 stars because the storyline looked decent.

Story is 5. Writing is a 3.5

Plenty of drama and mystery re the killer. The long ago divorce of the two main characters is the main feature as they meet again after 9 years. Nice epilogue and ending.

Snowy mountains and a chance at a second chance at love. All they have to do is let themselves love and be loved by one another.
While this one took me a little longer to read I still liked the story and the characters.

A lovely romance book!

Love Jack and Mia's love story. Their live story started when they were so young. They both made mistakes and hurt each other. They found their way back to each other. If you live suspense, love and true romance this is your book.

frozen in time

Once again Morgan has written one very good love story.
Jack and Mia who split 8 years before are thrown together. Throw in a killer intent of getting rid of Mia and read the non stop action.

The storyline was good, the characters were relatable. I felt it dragged some with to many tiny details that did not add to the story

I stuck with this book, even though at times I found myself skimming through paragraphs because it kinda got repetitive to me. I love amnesia books, but this one just didn’t work for me
