Bob Blanton has been an avid reader ever since his mother first took him to a library at age five. He has toyed with writing for years since college but was always too busy to start a novel. The "stone series" developed almost by itself as he was trying to sleep on long flights to Asia and Europe. He managed to write it and two follow-on novels while he was working, but never had the time to polish them. After he retired to the beach in Mexico, the only thing that competes with writing is the sound of the ocean and sunsets over the water. Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading them as much as he has had writing them. Check back for other books as he continues to ply his new trade.
Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading about Matthew and his developing powers as much as he has enjoyed writing about them.
I finished the book, but I can’t say I really enjoyed it. I don’t like ‘Soap Operas and this was mostly a soap opera for wealthy people, mixed with a lot of discussion and political manoeuvring, which in the end didn’t really go anywhere. If possible I would have given 2.5 stars, but because of the poor ending I have made that just two.
What happened? Bob's other books in the series had action, spy Vs. spy, plots, counter plots, new Sci-Fi toys, and entertaining interactions. This book began like a Harlikin soap opera. The story was extremely boring with the main character, Catie McKinsy, meeting friends and family and talking about nothing. Just before the end it started to be interesting though after wading through the drudgery of the first 80% of the book the interesting part was muted. Then Bob ended without any understandable meaning to it. This book reads like the author is just dumping words onto the pages in order to publish within the time span that he usually does. He should have just taken his time and done it right. Though if this is what he thinks is right then as far as I'm concerned this series is over. I thoroughly enjoyed the first 13 books. I will try book 15, but I am not going to read the entire book if it begins like book 14.
Caught between the devil and the deep with this volume of the series. I can see the points other reviews make in this volume isn't as action-packed as some previous, it has a more realpolitik feel and in places is soap opera-like. On the other hand, I liked that introduction of a bit of reality, and it was a touch less ideal world where our heroes sort out all the world's problems. I still enjoyed the author's writing style and the fact the main character is finally growing up and being an adult. OK, a bit of a cliffhanger ending but wasn't that bothered.
I'd say an acceptable change of tone, fine for this volume, but a bit more action wouldn't go amiss next time around., hence the 4-star rating.
(Note to self, don't read any more of this series).
Wow, If someone asked me how to make the most boring scifi book possible I'd have never come up with this stinker. 90% or more (probably a lot more) of the book is just people sitting around in meetings talking to each other. Compared to the first several books in the series this is just pointless. When you can skip whole chapters because it has no bearing on the plot or story what's the point? I really wish I could give this zero stars.
There is no chance all these 5-star ratings are legit. "Better with every book"??? Impossible.
I've read all the other books in this series and I have to say the series is getting boring. This book (14) was so slow I had to skip page after page and it didn't seem to matter. The original premise of the story was covered in the first few books - now it seems as though the author is dragging things out with "filler" and not much story. Tis installment didn't start getting interesting until the last 50 pages and then it abruptly ended. Political maneuvering got old real quick and having Catie constantly complain about getting dressed up got old several books ago.
Better than last few books in series. I have enjoyed this series . What has keep me in it is the strong character's the author has built. But at times the story goes on for long pages of seems like lists. Lists of building the universe they live in. Which is important but early books still had adventures the characters became caught up in. But later releases concentrated on the building universe. Regardless I have waited anxiously for each release and as I finish this installment I am looking forward to the next. Thx Jrock in Texas
Another wonderful chapter into the Delphi in Space series. I really look forward to the next installment. I love the fact that there are so many strong female characters and how much they get done. As for Princess Catie, she learns quickly but can still be a bit green because of her age. But with all the help she is given she tends to find her way. Till next time, thanks to Mr Blanton.
I followed this series from the beginning. Most of them are good reads and enjoyable. The reason it did not get five stars was because I found some typos and confusion in a few sentences throughout the novel. If you're looking for just the fun sci-fi to read this would be a good one. If you've not read any in the series there's a lot of history that they bring into this book that would be maybe difficult to follow.
Catie is appointed ambassador for the Delphi League and is tasked with meeting the governments of planets that might want to join the League. That means she has to wear her Delphi Princess gown a lot more than she wants to. Nothing goes smoothly and political intrigue is everywhere. A great read.
I happened upon this series by accident, but it was a great accident. Bob does a great job of telling the story. He keeps a great balance between reality and sc-fi. It adds a more believable edge to what we possibly could achieve if some found alien tech on Earth and ran with it. Can’t wait till the next read!
Catie is again involved in the family business, using her Princess power to negotiate with alien civilizations. I like the banter, humor, intrigue, and action. This series is one of my favorites. I like catie's feisty, competent character. I look forward to another book.
This book was a great read . The book was full of adventure and had some I didn't see that coming. Every time I started to read this book I found it hard to put down. It's best to read the whole series from the start and then you get the big picture of what's going on.
The intrigue, diplomacy, and sideways double think in this series is good it keeps you guessing and furthers the story line. Still not sure of some bits and directions of the story or where they'll lead. But that just means I will have to read the next book. Well done.
Delphi Envoy is another excellent chapter in the Delphi series, and I have not been disappointed in any of the books in this series. You really need the read them in order for the best possible experiences.
I miss the earth issues, too many players and not enough McCormack’s family insights. I look forward to how yo move this family along and how Earth will survive.
I removed a star for the unnecessary and stupid cliffhanger. I’m pretty sure if someone is fourteen books in a series they’re already all in without the bat drama. Anyway great story nonetheless and can’t wait for the next book.
Bob Blanton again sets up another sci-fi mystery with some fun twists and turns. My favorite characters return in their ever developing story lines, plots and personality exploration. Can't wait for book 15.
Well I really enjoy all of the books in this series, I wish they were a big longer though! This was a wonderfully entertaining continuation of the story and I look forward to reading the next !
The Delphi League is preparing to send envoys to Aperanjie. Then begins the machinations to control the process by parties unknown. A great continuation of the Delphi saga.
As with all political parties there are always someone hiding in the background pulling strings. Bob has done a great job with this idea, but does Princess Catie have what it takes to survive a trial negotiations?
Reasonably good description of the power plays that various powerful families were put in place. I believe that it would be less entertaining if it wasn't so accurate.
The awesome adventure continues and gets better with each new installment. The storyline and characters are stronger and easy to follow as they develop. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
This really is an empire building story and the MC is Cat. Not much action in this installment, but lots of political maneuvering, backstabbing and power plays. This is book 14 of 18. Im trying to hold on to the end but its getting long in the tooth.
If you like the others should like this one as well. Series doesn't excite me like it us to. I hop author thinks about raping this up and try something new.
