Captured by the Mercenaries

They saved my life. All it cost me was my freedom

When the Army sends me to Iraq on a Top-Secret mission, an unexpected tragedy strikes, and I’m as good as dead.
But out of the dust and sand, three dangerous men appear.
Mercenaries.
Ghosts.
My saviors.
They’re hotter than the desert sun, and on a mission of their own.
Now that I know who they are, Rafe, Arsen, and Sig have no plans to let me go. They play by their own set of rules—rules that let them take what they want, even me.
Escape is impossible, not with threats none of us have faced before at every turn. To save myself, I’ll have to give in to their demands, become one of them, and beat them at their own devious game

***Be Forewarned
Captured By The Mercenaries is a dark, angsty, military, why choose romance. There are three overbearing mercenaries and one bada** leading lady who won’t need to choose between her men. There is no MM. This book can be read as a standalone. It contains explicit language and situations. Find a full list of tropes and content at my website, which can be found on my author page.

*3.5* This book could have been completely silly, but it was actually a well done, steamy RH. The three leading men were easily identifiable. RH often suffer from the "which guy was that" syndrome, but this one didn't. The military backdrop was a nice change from the alien RH I've read, and felt somewhat believable. MMMF, no sword crossing.

Colby (22?) is a Staff Sergeant, specializing in Explosive Ordnance Disposal. She joined the Army at 18 after her parents died. She's a strong, resourceful h who doesn't have time for bs.

Rafe, Arsen and Sig are all 35, and have mysterious backgrounds. They rescue Colby during a mission gone wrong and the story takes off from there.
When she’d been awake her hazel eyes had sparked with fury at me, especially after I’d bound and gagged her.
Ok maybe it was more if a kidnapping than a rescue.
I wasn’t a civilized man. If she thought there would be some sort of code of conduct out here she’d soon learn differently. The four of us were now wraiths, swallowed up by the wilds of Iraq. No one would come looking for her. If they did, I’d make sure they wouldn’t find her. She was mine. Ours.
There were a few moments of ick when things are getting all hot and heavy after days in the desert heat without bathing.
She bucked against my mouth when I licked her from asshole to clit. She tasted delicious and I wrapped my arms around her thighs to hold her in place so I could fuck her with my tongue.
It kinda ruined the moment to think about how badly they all had to smell.

There were a few were disappointments, like the ending. And her bff relationship didn't make any sense into the scope of the story. Why was it even in there?

I wasn't a big fan of how she was basically at their mercy, a kidnapping victim. She did eventually stand up for herself so I appreciated that. Overall, a decent and fun RH with a strong fmc with a backbone.

5 Why Choose Stars!

“Sig made the world a brighter place with his constant smile and teasing. Arsen was my protector. He was the immovable object that was forever going to be between me and any potential threat. And Rafe was my psychopath.

description

Colby is a bombs expert and the army sends her into Iraq with a team on a secret mission but the mission goes ruthlessly wrong and she ends up being saved by three strong and captivating men. These men are dangerous and dominant - mercenaries on their own secret mission. Rafe, the leader, decides Colby is theirs and he takes her despite the hell that could rain down on them. Sig and Arsen, alpha in their own ways, agree that Colby is theirs even though they know kidnapping her probably isn’t the best way to win a girl’s heart. Colby is set on escaping and they are set on keeping her. They live by their own rules and Colby is used to being independent. The more time they spend together, the more Colby becomes attached to them and sees them in a different light and Rafe, Sig and Arsen begin to see they may need to make concessions if they want to keep Colby.

With danger on the horizon and a blossoming romance, will they all make it out alive in one piece? Will Rafe, Sig and Arsen give up their ghost life to make a life and a family with Colby if that's what she wants too?

Colby was such a badass. I loved her wit, stamina, strength and tenacity. I liked how she nurtured a relationship with each of the guys in different ways and sought different kinds of comfort in each of them. She had a backbone of steel and stood up for herself and could be part of their team and hold her own. All around a wonderful heroine!

description

Rafe was the dominant one that wanted control with everything but he was deliciously dirty and commanding. Sig was softer but had the playfulness that added so much to their dynamic. Arsen was loyal and comforting and I loved the big guy. Their dirty talk was *chef’s kiss.*

“You’re going to scream and come on my dick, Pet. Then, and only then, am I going to fill you up with my cum.

The action and suspense in here was awesome. Fast paced and entertaining, it kept me turning the pages. I loved the story and the scenes that were set. The steam in here was HOT. H O T. Sometimes MFM romances come off cheesy but this one hit all my buttons and the four of them were perfectly in sync with each other.

“I knew without looking that Sig was standing there. I liked eating pussy as much as the next man, but for him? He was obsessed. I knew he was jealous as fuck that I was drenching my beard in her wetness, enjoying her taste, forcing those sexy little moans from her lips instead of him.

Overall, if you like action packed MFM romances with alpha men and a woman who can quite literally diffuse a situation, then definitely give this a try!!

4.4 stars.
This was new and different.
I thought the setting and the action that came along with it was really cool.
The concept was also super interesting and pretty unique, from what I’ve seen at least.

The ending was just sort of ‘meh though. A few of the plot points just Don’t get resolved..?🤷🏻‍♀

The sex was good, not great, but definitely still hot.

The relationships were Ok. Just ok. There’s some shit that happens, and then Colby sort of just snaps, and then they just continue on basically like nothing happened.

I don’t know. I had a good time reading it, for sure.
I just wish a few things at the end were a tiny bit different.

I’m contemplating reading the next book, I just haven’t decided whether I want to put myself through another ending like that again just because the writing is pretty damn good and the sex is hot.

Holy Alpha Males!
Colby is a strong independent kick a** female.
Rafe, Arsen, and Sig are your big alpha males with personalities that set them apart from each other but wanting to keep them all.

Colby a U.S. Army Solider is shot down with some of her team while fighting to keep herself and them a live she unknowingly is about to come face to face with a different type of fight. Enter 3 alpha males who see Colby and decided to capture her from the fight and keep her for themselves.

The sexual tension is high. The spicy scenes are smoking hot. The action keeps you reading.

"It was his way of tying her to him as irrevocably as I hoped to do with fun and laughter, the way Arsen would with kindness and protection."

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: reverse harem
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Captured by the Mercenaries was the first book in a new, super smexy series by Cathleen Cole and it is absolutely fabulous! Colby, a SSG in the Army who is an EOD expert, is riding in a helicopter with her team when it goes down in Iraq. Three men come out of no where and save her life, but Rafe, Arsen, and Sig decide they want to keep the feisty American soldier - whether she likes it or not!

Captured by the Mercenaries has tons of action from page one and it really doesn't let up the whole way through. I'm not a huge fan of reverse harems, but I will read them occasionally and I enjoyed this one way more than most. I liked how there seemed to be a really good build up of sexual tension between Colby and each one of the guys. The relationship conflict was mainly between Colby and Rafe because of how dominant his nature is. Colby is a kick-butt, take charge kind of girl and it would make sense she would chafe with someone so controlling, so I appreciated how both of them had to bend in order for their relationship to work. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I loved the FMC in this book she’s stubborn, outspoken, not afraid to stand up for herself and fight back. The male’s character are just as stubborn and strong but in a way that they compliment each other at the same time.

Romanticising abuse is never okay

DNF - as soon as the knife came out I knew what was happening but like a car crash I had to see if it would be okay. It was not okay. I could sort of get past the more controlling aspects but as soon as it became straight up physical abuse and total disregard for consent I was out.

Non ethical "no consent and abuse"

Rape and coercion replaced for "consent"

Book is filled with cohesive abuse and no ethical rough play boundaries. lacks consent throughout all scenes

I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I started reading, especially given the story was in a war zone, but it was absolutely wonderful! Colby’s character has had a hard and lonely life and she’s been driven by following her purpose (her career) since becoming an adult. The guys: Rafe, Arsen, and Sig are three guys who’ve only had each other for far too long while they live a life of danger while playing by their own rules. Colby is fiercely independent, while the guys (especially Rafe) are incredibly dominant so how does that balance out? In a gripping and interesting way as we follow the story of them attempting to become one group while also trying to stop the threats that just keep coming. The sexy times are beyond hot, and seeing how each of the guys have learned to compensate for the others in totally different ways is great, especially as the story progresses (I will say that I think all 3 guys are fabulous, but I may have a little extra bias with Arsen and Sig). I was definitely on edge the further the story got and especially about how things would work out and end up. I was definitely not disappointed at all!

Now this is the kind of book I love to read. One that sucks you right into the story from the very beginning and you don't want to stop till you finished.

I love Colby. One thing I'm always looking for in a book is a strong female lead. Even with 3 Alpha males surrounding her she never loses herself. This makes her so very likeable.

Rafe is a psychopath but for all the right reasons. Major Alpha but one you can find yourself liking. Arsen and Sig are the kind of men I would like to know. All 3 with Colby are just hot 🔥.

If you like military, rh and alpha males with a kickass female definitely check this book out.

This is my first book from Cathleen Cole & Frank Jensen and it won't be my last. I really liked this story with Colby and her 3 alpha-holes.

Colby an EOD expert in the Army, is "saved" by Rafe, Arsen, and Sig, mercenaries who happen to be in the area when her helicopter gets shot down. Unfortunately or fortunately, they decide to keep Colby along for the ride. I loved the relationships between Colby and each of the men as well as their team dynamics.

The banter is hilarious, the tension keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the sexiness is top notch. I was hooked from the first meeting between Colby and her men. "Scream and I will make this uncomfortable for you." 😋😈🥵 Will be on the lookout for the next book of the Soldiers of Misfortune.

Captured by the Mercenaries keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

As the FMC, Colby is an intriguing mixture of sweetness and strength. Her harem of sexy mercenaries are dangerous, powerful and incredibly compelling.

Cole and Jensen have built a fascinating world for their story to be set in, and they have managed to create a truly suspenseful storyline to frame this slightly dark romance within.

While the dub-con nature of some of the sex scenes may be triggering for some readers, they are well written and the subsequent discussions between the main characters regarding consent are truly excellent.

I thoroughly enjoyed Captured by the Mercenaries and look forward to further stories set in Cole and Jensen’s world.

Mmmmm hmmmm I love me some hot, possessive men and Rafe, Arsen, and Sig are definitely all that!

I was intrigued by the blurb for this book and took up the chance to review it. In my humble opinion its a good solid 4 star read. Medium to fast burn with a fmc who can believably hold her own with the mercenaries who have kidnapped her.

Colby is US military bomb disposal. She has no family to speak of, and an incident *no spoilers here* in Iraq changes her life completely and she has caught the attention of a deadly band of mercenaries, hot, scorching, possessive, make you beg for it, mercenaries.

It's a bumpy ride, figuratively and physically for them all, particularly with Rafe who is controlling and used to getting what he wants. But Colby finds out what she wants from the relationship too and fights for it.

There's some steamy scenes for sure and a storyline that kept me reading to the end.

Fantastic!
This book had everything! We have action and suspense! Angst and delicious steam!!! We also get multiple POVs. I loved that while our FMC, Colby was tough and independent, she wasn't overly so. I thought that the relationship between the 4 was well balanced. They truly complimented each other. I thought the length of the book was perfect, not too long or short. Overall, this was a fantastic read! I can't wait to read more by these two authors!!!

This is the first story in a new series by this author and the first book I have read by them.

This book had it all in Reverse Harem, that I look for. Alot of action, so much sexual tension from the first meeting between the characters, a kick ass female lead and her strong sexy men who will do anything to protect her.

Colby is an EOD specialist in the US Army and was shipped to Iraq with her best friend. Her squads chopper was shot down on their way to visit a site to see the explosives that have been used in the area. Taking cover in a nearby village she doesn't expect insurgents to overwhelm them and she was taken out of a window right before the building she was in exploded. Rafe, Sig, and Arsen have their own mission that needs to get done but they soon find the little spitfire gives them a run for their money. I really enjoyed the spice in this book and I look forward to reading more from these authors.

After having finished the arc of the book all I could think was I need more of this group. Strong female lead with some supportive men once we got over how they meet. Alexa spicy heat between a males and a female lead of the book. If you’re looking for different types of domination over a female this is the one for you. I’m low-key sad over the ending but want to continue with these mercenaries.

This book is wrong from the very beginning. Let's see, let's start with the fact that the men kidnap the woman, tie her up, keep her locked up and still expect her to stay still, meek and accept everything they do to her without a fight. After they rescue her, they get angry that she ran away to begin with, clearly they have no values or sense of ethics, that is obvious from the place and the years they have lived without laws, but any INTELLIGENT man will know and notice that the other person knows that running away is the normal thing a person tries to do in a kidnapping situation, that she does not have the same moral standards as they do, it is logic, just as it is logic that they should give privacy to someone who is taking a bath because it is obvious that the other person is used to it, but no, here they completely ignore the protagonist they supposedly want to protect (in this book the author can't even give them logic or intelligence, she leaves them as brainless brutes). Then, to top it off, they tell her that they are not going to have sex with her unless she asks them to, they assure her that they are not going to abuse her, but then they literally ABUSE her, they touch her WITHOUT HER CONSENT while she is asleep. In other words, the consistency and word of these men isn't worth shit. In one part of the book there is that they prevent her from having a method of protection so she doesn't get pregnant, that is also rape. There are many ways to abuse someone, it doesn't necessarily involve having sex without the other person's consent, basically everything these men do that they think isn't wrong because they don't have sex with her without her asking for it, is sexual abuse, no matter how you want to dress it up. I'm surprised that in all the reviews I've read no one criticizes these aspects, everyone is fine with it, no one questions anything. It's just horrible. Despite that, I'm going to give the author another chance with the other 2 books in this series, I always do with any writer because they deserve to have the benefit of the doubt regardless of whether I didn't like a book.

Read this in a day!! 5 stars!

The spice was... well a little uncomfortable to read for me. But I think that’s because I’ve never read THAT type of spice. But the writing, the story, and as uncomfortable as it was, even the heckin spice.... was just WOW.

My only critique was that I kinda wished it was just Colby & Rafe together. I imagined her realizing they were in love with eachother. I really wanted just a scene of spice with only the two of them. And he told her he loved her in the middle of it.
I still think Rafe & Colby had the strongest love in the story.

Major + .. I really thought Colby was just going to “give in and allow for Rafe’s behavior to pass her by. I was really happy when she stood up for herself and demanded they open their eyes to her independence and what she wants.

DNF@20% Ew. How has this gotten such good ratings/reviews? Anyways, the FMC has yet to prove she’s “badass like the blurb claimed. Just because the author made her a soldier doesn’t make her badass tf? She’s gonna need wayyyy more substance than that.

Also, the way the guys talk about how they stopped following civilized society and rules, they faced no repercussions or consequences is extremely troubling considering every thought about the FMC was sexual after they kidnapped her. They kept saying they wouldn’t force themselves on her but it got to the point where it was like if I closed my eyes or the book, the scenes would magically change and they might just do so, since that’s the kind of ppl they are.

This ain’t a dark romance. It’s creepy, not in the good way. This is too much like real life.

I am not afraid to admit, I thought the cover was a bit cheesy
But although I do totally pick books to read by the cover, I don't do it all the time.
See I have my tablet wall paper set as this REALLY provocative picture. Its 2 military men and the one guy is watching while the girl is naked on the ground, naked, sucking his cock (by duski love)
and when I posted in a book group asking for something with that vibe, this book was recommended.

And boyyyyy did it not disappoint. Of course the girl wasn't tied up in this... but she was kidnapped so .. same thing? hahah

We got Colby who is the FMC.
Then Sig, Rafe, and Arsen who are the MMCs
It's split POV, so we do get chapters from the guys too.
The smut... for the beginning and for a bit into it, we got some little teases of some smut to come, but nothing really happening. But then it happens and I was very happy with what I read. I loved the smut scenes.
When they finally took her all at once at the end. LOVED it
The story wasn't bad either. I love me some alpha men and I love breeding kinks. :D

Spice 3/5
Humor 0/5
Emotional 0/5
World Building 5/5

Good guys disguised as bad ones

From start to finish, this book is a wild ride for Colby.

I do get frustrated that as many years as she’s been in the military she doesn’t come off with a lot of survival experience in some situations, and then others she’s amazing. Her character is well created and developed nicely throughout the book.

Arsen, Rafe, and Sig: mercenaries that show very little mercy. They have many layers and their dynamic is interesting.

Call it kismet, fated mates, or the aligning of the stars but their paths cross and all for good in the end. Lots of steam

great

Another great book by Cathleen Cole. Colby is my favorite character of this book because even though she was kidnapped she never backed down or cowered. Her feisty attitude drew in her guys and they quickly changed from her kidnappers to her lovers. Together they are unstoppable as the fight to stay safe and take down a terrorist.

This story kind of ends abruptly so make sure to read the Epilogue after the sneak peek.

thoroughly enjoyed

This reverse harem story included 3 male warriors and 1 female warrior. It is great. It’s been awhile since I have so enjoyed a really good reverse harem. This has some hot scenes but it includes one heck of an good story with an intriguing plot and well developed characters that I just wanted to get to know. HEA, intelligent camels and one abused mule, some funny times, lots of drama and angst, no cheating, no cliffhanger.
Highly recommend.

Loved the dynamics.

I truly enjoy this author's FMC’s! Colby is a kickbutt, strong, and ferociously independent soldier. Rafe, Arsen, and Sig are mercenaries that are sent to take out a bad guy. However, when their paths cross with Colby they see an opportunity they can’t pass up. The guys..wow!..they are intense and spicy in this book with their Alphahole personalities. I love how the dynamics of the four come together. TW:18+ 4.25/stars.

I couldn't wait to read this ARC and I'm so glad I got to! Such a good book! What starts out as being kidnapped, Colby ends up falling in love with her captures. Sig, Rafe, and Arsen are Mercenaries you saved Colby and then decided they were going to keep her for themselves. I won't give all the spoilers, but it's a definite read!

Can we start out by saying just how strong Colby is! She is a women in a male dominated field and is holding her own. How can you not be impressed. I didn’t know what to think about the guys at first but I loved seeing just how much they cared for Colby and the lengths they were willing to go to keep her safe. I wish there was a book two because I am sad to see their story end.

This has to be one of the best why choose stories I have ever read. Rid of highschool bully romances and bring us on a journey with a bad ass heroin who has found herself saved by 3 hunky mercenaries. She may be resistant but doesn't that make the chase that much sweeter. Another great book by this author.
