When a Valentine’s Day party, a snowstorm, and a dysfunctional GPS combine Hilary ends up in a snowbank outside a cabin in the woods. Which just happens to belong to the man who saved her life.
Lane Kissel has been hiding in his literal cabin in the woods. Whether it's to keep himself away from people or the other way around he’s not sure anymore. But all that ends when the last woman he rescued nearly crashes into his cabin in her flight from humanity. Maybe they have more in common than he thought.
All Hilary wants is not to be at Chicago Bound for Valentine’s Day with all the happy couples. Ever since her return from being kidnapped in the Middle East her friends new and old have been trying to set her up, but she’s just not ready. Unless it’s for the hot Army Ranger who had her at “I’m here to rescue you.
Except, He dumped her in an embassy without so much as a backward glance after her rescue. Now, they’re stuck together for seventy-two hours in a cabin in the middle of nowhere in the snow. Perfect
This book wasn't as good as Book 1. Lane is very confusing- first he's a recluse that can't stand being around people (huh? Why?) then he wants her, then he pushes her away for her own good, then he can't stay away from her, then he thinks she's safe and leaves her again but watches from afar, then he really does leave town, then he buys a house and business for her sight unseen before he even gets in touch with her again after weeks of being away! WHAT???! Bi-polar much?! He the ball in a ping pong game! And he's supposed to have been the captain of their team, but he sure doesn't act like it. And poor Hilary doesn't know if she's coming or going emotionally, while being stalked by a terrorist!
When the bad guy escalates Lane and his team whisk her back to Wyoming, but we never find out what happened to the terrorist stalker! Did he just give up? Not. She's not exactly hiding and changing her looks and name. WHAT???!
And the ending is just as confusing- what did she, or didn't she, write that they were celebrating? The bonus scene is just another kink scene. After all the sex in the book it wasn't anything special or added to the story. Very disappointed. Hope the rest of the books are much better than this one.
I loved reading Rescued By The Ranger(Ranger Valley Ranch Book 2)!!! All about Hillary Abram’s a journalist who’s in her thirties & Lane Andres a retired Ranger Captain for the Army. Hilary has just driven several hours in a snow storm to get to her rented cabin in the woods. However she never makes it to her destination, instead her car does donuts on the main road and then skids off the road into a bunch of trees, all while blowing her horn non-stop. Lane was sound asleep when he was Jolted awake by a loud screeching noise. He scrambles out of bed to find a car sideswiped in the trees at the end of his driveway. He attempts to wrestle with the door & the hood to turn off the dam horn. Then he drags the person out of the car and wrestles them into his cabin. It’s the women he rescued on his last mission in the Middle East. The one he can’t get out of his head or his dreams, Hillary. Read about Hillary & Lane as they navigate being snowed in in a remote cabin in the woods, alone. Lots of emotion and plenty of toe curling does occur. Definite Read!!! I can’t wait to read book 3)!!!!
Book two did not disappoint, as Lane & Hilary work through their issues. Hilary has been in love with Captain Lane Andres since he & his team rescued her after being kidnapped in the Middle East. She feels safest with him, but is it really love, or just hero worship? Those are the questions asked by her friends & therapist & something she needs to figure out. Lane has been off the social grid since he got out of the Army. The guilt he feels about their last mission has truly destroyed him. He let down his team, losing two men. He also can’t seem to get the American journalist out of his mind, Hilary is the perfect woman for him, but he believes he is all wrong for her. When the man who tried to destroy her life finds her, will Lane be able to protect her, or will he lose her for good? This was a great story, of two people, suffering from PTSD & learning how to help one another. It was sweet, sexy, steamy & if you enjoy some kink with your steam, this is the book for you!
I think the author forgot to wrap up the part about the bad guy that caused so much turmoil in the story. Also, there isn't much character development with the sub-characters. They're almost more of a distraction than offering substance to the story. And what's with the hero and his indecisiveness? It's way over the top. I think I got whiplash following him. There's some good spice with a lot of heat in the bedroom if you're into bondage and domination. I'm not even going to judge the heroine or delve into her fears because she did suffer some serious trauma, after all.
I thought that the book had a good and exciting storyline with some likable and well developed characters. I thought that their interaction was great and I loved seeing the personalities come out and the relationships develop as the book progressed
It was a slow burn romance that was a nice easy read. It was a little slower than I would have liked in places which has stopped me giving it more than 4 stars but it was a really good and enjoyable read overall
It is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended!
I hate cliffhangers! Too bad, up till the end it was a great book. You can get another ending by suscribing to a newsletter. Being forced to do that irks the hell out of me, and I refuse, so my readership ends here.
This is the first book I have read by this author because it was free on Kindle, but I have been saving it sense February 2023. The only thing about this story I was hoping for was they found Hilary's kidnapper by the time the story ended, But I guess I'll have to read the next book The Ranger's Baby to see if there is an ending to this mystery. I am definitely interested in reading the whole series.
Ranger Valley Ranch (6 book series) Kindle Edition really knows how to put out some mind-blowing rangers.
This was a great story. The story of Lane and Hilary, how they meant was not the best but neither could forget each other. When they reconnect the sparks fly.
