Captured by a Sinner

Rate this book
After the Priesthood wipes out my family, I find myself kidnapped and held prisoner by the head of the Bratva a man who’s as charming as he is terrifying.
My days are filled with chaotic emotions and fear, and with time, I realize Viktor Vetrov wants more than just my obedience.
He wants all of me, but I refuse to fall for his filthy promises of ecstasy.

The instant I gain my freedom, I run straight back to the Cosa Nostra.
But, I quickly learn there are worse monsters in the world than the one who held me captive.
With no family left, choices are made for me. None are in my best interest.
I’m forced to marry a man twice my age who doesn’t have a gentle side.

I only have one hope. Viktor Vetrov.
But asking the head of the Bratva to save me will leave me indebted to him.
Do I give myself to the old monster who will use and abuse me, or do I give myself to the attractive devil who wiped out my family?

I can't believe this was the last book in the Sinners series.

Viktor was everything I wanted him to be and more. The great fearless Bratva leader brought down to his knees by one woman. I know we love to see that.

Their story was really interesting since she blames him for years for the death of her grandfather and her uncle. They live together in animostiy since she is technically not allowed to leave until she turns 21 and he technically kidnapped her. His reasons to keep her from leaving are because she is vulnerable and innocent in a world where her families enemies will take advantage of her and he does not want her out there without protection or preparation.

He does whatever he can to make her comfortable but despite his best efforts they spend years barely communicating and keep a massive distance.

She finally gets free (after she turns 21 and he lets her go) to allow her to explore and discover the world but it's never that easy or simple is it? She runs into massive trouble as her families past haunts her.

I loved seeing the length of what Viktor would do for her and his obsession. Also loved seeing the priesthood's devotion to helping each other out.

I'm sad to see this series end but thankfully I still need to read the previous series and maybe we might get a next NEXT gen books?

What the ever-loving f*ck did I just read?

First of all, when they meet she's 17 and he's 25. Although nothing sexual really happens, the way Viktor talks about her is just ugh. No thank you. I love age-gap romance books, but making her 18 would've fixed all my problems. He and his friends kept referring to her as a child and I was just weirded out.

It gets worse. He has an unconscious sex kink. Basically, he likes to f*ck her while she's asleep or unconscious... Immediatly no. The book even started to redeem itself a bit, but then this came up in the last couple of chapters and I couldn't do it. Fucking you while you're unconscious is my favourite thing to do UM WHAT...?

If you can get past those two things, then you might actually enjoy the book. I didn't hate it, but it is far from one of my favourites.

I have to find out who I am without Viktor. Without my family. I have to search my emotions and make sure what I feel for Viktor isn’t Stockholm syndrome. I have to deal with the grief and guilt. I have to do this for myself.

the way the author spins the captor/captive trope in this one is 🤌 🤌 this is the best book in the series. the H (25-28) abducts the h (17-21) but agrees to let her go when she turns 21. the patience of this man is at Saints level. i love how he waits for the h to choose him on her own free will, which takes years. i love how he respects her and pushes her to fight. i especially love how the h never gives in to her attraction for the H until shes sure her feeling is genuine and truly comes from inside her.

“You’re mine, I say with determination. “I might let you go the day after tomorrow, but you’re mine, Rosalie. I’ll give you all the time you need, and when you’re ready, you’ll come back to me.

im out of words. i have no complaints, except maybe the consensual non-consent sex and the Hs proclivity for somnophilia. these just weirded me out. 😬 overall, this is giving Beauty and the Beast but without Beasts sulky, growly, broody, grumpy attitude. this Sinners saga is so underrated. it feels refreshing to read a non or less “problematic mafia romance where the H has some dark edge but is actually not “dark dark (if you know what i mean). light mafia might be underwhelming for some, but i recommend these books.

my thoughts on:

#2 Owned by a Sinner 3.25 stars
#3 Stolen by a Sinner 4 stars
#4 Chosen by a Sinner 3 stars

Note to self: stop listening to fucking social media. Y'all are all colorblind af apparently cause this book is one massive glaring red flag.

Oh shall I list the ways.

One: she's seventeen when they meet. He's 25. He spends a solid chapter repeatedly talking about how hot she is and how much he wants to fuck her. I'm sorry sir that's a whole ass pedophile.

Two: he kidnaps her. HE KIDNAPS HER. Literally puts a gun to her head, forces her to watch her family die and then knocks her out by strangling her KID NAPS HER. Oh and can't forget the rape threat. but oh no it's fine cause he's actually the good guy and her family was evil and she would have been killed if he didn't. Um?? NO??

Three: my mans got a fucking issue with boundaries. Knocking and then immediately opening the door without being acknowledged isn't GIVING HER HER OWN SPACE. Plus the repeated spanking threats are 🤢🤢 oh but don't worry he's never beat her!! And he's so kiiiiind /s. Excuse me while I barf.

Also if I have to read "touch me between my legs" or "the valley between my legs" one more time while this girl full ass says cock I'm gonna lose it.

I read a few of the synopses for the other books + the hinting at them in this one and I'm sorry?? Tf is this shit. I'm so glad my completionist OCD doesn't seem to be kicking in for this series because I'd brain myself first.

Can I pretty please get a Mafia romance where he's not an abusive piece of shit or literally kidnaps and dehumanizes her? Please? I've read them I know they exist.

Kindly just write a morally gray/murdery male lead that is soft and loving toward his partner the entire time. It's all I ask for. I just want a dark romance without the abuse and a semi healthy fucking relationship. Gimme a man who will eviscerate an enemy and shit but treats his wife like a queen from moment one. Genuine recs are appreciated I'm tired and apparently terrible at finding them myself.

(Thank you Candi Kane PR and the author Michelle Heard for the eARC in exchange for a honest review)

I am sad that this series has come to an end.

Viktor’s book was one I really looked forward to because of the foreshadowing of Rosalie and his relationship in the previous books.

The plot moved along well, it was well balanced and I felt that it had the right pace to keep the reader hooked onto it. The revelations came at the appropriate times and they were enough to continue reading.

I loved how there was a fair amount of angst between Viktor and Rosalie. It made the book more interesting and helped me as the reader to understand their relationship more. The character development that both had was the best in the series, they grew individually and as a whole which made their connection seem so beautiful. I loved the action especially in this book, it made a deep impact given the circumstances and it was realistic enough to imagine. Every time Viktor spoke Russian to Rosalie my heart melted a little more.

Also the smut in this book? Literal flames. It’s right up my alley.

I also loved how the Priesthood appeared for everyone throughout the series. The epilogue of this book was so cute and the family they became is something I’m so happy to have read and experienced.

This is also a sign to read all of Michelle’s other books, this series was my first from her. I’d have to get into her other mafia books because they’re so good!

I think it's the last book in this series and IVE BEEN DYING FOR THIS STORY!!!

Viktor we saw him few books back kidnap and take Rosalie who was at the wrong place and time when they killed her whole family for what they did to one of there own. We see them go though the years since she's barley 17 at the start. Nothing happens but he made her a promise he would let her go once she turns 21. Gives her enough time to grow and learn some stuff. Though out the years the banter is very hard since she can't trust him she thinks he would hurt her like he told her grandpa when she turned 18. The sexual tension is also high between them since he wants her to stay and be with him but any steps forward is a step back since she reminds him he killed her family.

Now before she hits 21 she gives in they have there moments but she still wants freedom and he let's her go... my heart broke that he let her go to see the world. Until drama has her almost married to a old man and abused. That doesn't stop Viktor from making a bloody mess.

I loved this book to bits.

Gosh, this book had everything. Action, passion, love, kidnapping, an obsessed-crazily in love bratva boss hero, a strong, stubborn heroine, angst, emotional dilemma and scorching love scenes.

Victor Vetrov was a joy to read. I loved him. Always so gentle and supportive of the heroine Rosalie, the small small way he cared for her sigh! They had a worst start but he pursued her with a single minded intensity.
I loved that Rosalie stayed true to herself and took her time to sought through her feelings and guilt, even though she loved Victor so much. Their relationship needed that.

The dark humour in this book was on point. And Victor’s showdown scene at the church was amazing. I also enjoyed bromance between Luca and Victor.

Tw: physical abuse, sexual assault, violence.

objectively a mediocre book, but i enjoyed reading it. pretty two dimensional & barely any depth so don’t go looking for anything of much substance BUT it’s sweet, cute, and a quick read where you know what you're getting. barely any angst. viktor is absolutely devoted to rosalie, which is always a plus point.

4.5 Villain and Little Rose stars

Can the man who took part in wiping out your family be redeemed in your eyes?

Rosalie’s (17-21) about to turn 18 when she witnesses the un aliving of her uncle and grandfather; although not directly at the hands of Viktor (25-28), he’s holding her so she can’t get away. For some reason, Viktor doesn’t wanna get rid of her or get her involved in illicit activities. In fact, he feels protective of her. He tells her (and others) that he’ll give her three years to mourn, adjust to life, and “grow up. On her twenty-first birthday, he’ll set her free.

Which means, he has three years to get her to forgive him and maybe, just maybe, fall in love with him 👀.

Sounds like a plan to me 🤷🏻‍♀.

What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—how protective and swoony Viktor is. He learns about her likes and dislikes and acts on them. For her 18th bday, not only does he get her a pizza with fruit on it (pineapple), but he also gets her the type of dog she’s always wanted, Luna ❤️. He makes sure she’s safe and protected at all times; it isn’t until she leaves him that he adjusts his protection (ahem only slightly 👀 she doesn’t need to know she’s wearing a tracker on the pendant he got her 🤣 or that he accessed CCTV cameras around the city 😅)

—the tension 👀. I’ll admit, I wouldn’t have minded if Viktor wasn’t so *respectful* of Rosalie and her age 😐, but it allowed for *some* tension to build

—the patience on Viktor 😅. He doesn’t make any moves (like kissing) until Rosalie’s 21. He would make a monk and priest proud 🤷🏻‍♀ oh, and also

—he’s celibate 😉 extra points from me 🥰

—the 🔥. Viktor waits until she’s almost 21 to finally kiss her (36%) and once she’s 2 days away from her birthday, it’s on 😉. Three years in the making sure made it worth it 😮‍. He pulls all the stops when he finally claims her 🥵. She’s his favorite meal 🤷🏻‍♀. I love how he’s so anxious that he can’t control himself when he unleashes it all 💦. LAWD 🥵 give me more 😉. Annnnnd we get a

—surprise v scene 🔥

—he’s a cereal eater 😮‍. He loves eating a hearty breakfast 😉. But he also has her reciprocate, and gawd, he’s so alpha and commanding when he does it 🔥

—he has a duuuurty mouth 🥵

—CNC and somnophilia role playing 😮‍. Oh gawd. This was good. I wish we had more of it 🤣🥵

—he gives her the space she needs. With the patience of a saint, I can only commend this 👏🏻. He even lets her leave when the time’s up. I have to give him props for sticking to his word

—the Priesthood ❤️ I admire that they’re in each other’s lives and come at the drop of a hat whenever they’re needed 🥰. I’ve loved them since book 1, so it was bittersweet to read this book since it’s the last one 😏

—the comeuppance 💅

—touch her and d! 🤷🏻‍♀

—the sweet way Viktor helps heal her when she’s mistreated 😭. He knows he needs to be careful with her, and he does everything in his power to make her feel safe ❤️

—the epilogue 🥹. Not me fan girling at seeing all the previous couples, living their HEAs 😭

What I wanted more of:
—considering that they both want each other for years, I wish we had seen some of the tension they’ve had to live with during that time. We get the initial living situation and how they adjusted, but then it’s one of those 3 years later and I’m like 😐 what happened in those three years?? Any *accidental* grazes or invading of spaces? I mean, give me something 😏

—the comeuppance was too quick 😑 after what they did to Rosalie, this needed to be prolonged

—in the previous books, we got some sweet epilogues as in TWO this one only had ONE 😑. For being the last book in the series, I expected major swoon-filled epilogues. Although I enjoyed the ONE we got, I still wanted more 🤷🏻‍♀

Overall, I loved it

*Thank you to Candi Kane PR & the author for an ARC of this title.*

The Sinner series has drawn to a close.. and what a ride it has been. I have been highly anticipating Viktor and Rose's romance for quite a while now. They have a complicated relationship to say the least and I was ready to see how Michelle Heard would play that out.

This book takes place when they first meet and Viktor takes Rose captive after her family gets wiped out in a previous book. We see their initial interactions and then we get to see a little bit into the future and see how that dynamic plays out.

While I did enjoy how gone for Rose Viktor was, I do feel like the time jump and lack of growth from Rose during said jump was a bit disappointing. I was expecting a bit more from her and when we see them both again, I didn't feel like any time had passed...

However, the romance aspects, once they get rolling and these two really get physical and start learning the other.. were top notch.

This was a series I really enjoyed over all. I can't wait to see what's next.

Want to know the plot to every book in this series?
-Girl and guy meet and they do their trope
-They bang
-Some enemy goes after them
-Guy teaches girl how to shoot or fight
-Guy takes down the enemy

So if you want a series that is predictable, but somewhat entertaining, pick these up.

“slava ne mogut apisat mayu u lyubof k tebe, moya malen'kaya roza.

and so the last of the sinners falls and what a beautiful fall it was. it would've been so easy for this book to be disappointing after all the others that preceded it building the expectation surrounding this couple and yet it was perfection. looking back at everyone else's povs and how they witnessed the love blossom within viktor versus his own perspective and rosalie's just adds even more meaning to their journey. it's a love for the ages and so reminiscent of the st. monarch's essence it warmed my soul. and it's no secret my favoritism over alexei and isabella so for her to play such a defining role here really tugged at my heartstrings.
i'm left bittersweet after once again finishing a series about this big mafia found family; the thought that this might be the last time the first generation is part of the story fills me with grief. but i'll hold onto hope for a third gen series because i'm simply incapable of letting go of this universe, it feels so much like home.

SAFETY WITH SPOILERS

Safe. Both celibate after meeting. h virgin. H not too much past about but only ons. They have known each other (kidnapped her) for 3 years. She’s about to turn 21 when the present time starts.
The only thing that might not be safe is that h is a week shy of 18 when they meet. H kidnapped h then. After H’s friends (mafia) killed h’s family bc her family tried to kill other heroines from this saga. Also, h’s family were in the sex trafficking world. h didn’t know. h is kidnapped when she is 21 by other mafia bc of some stuff her family did. One touched her when she was naked. It’s brief but happens. They were going to force h to marry old OM but obv H appeared

Also, they role play a bit about having sex while she pretends to be asleep. Imo they talked about it first so it’s not a problem. Everything is consent. Safe word, talk about fantasies and things that are not on the table (even tho pretty much is on the table)

***4,5 "My Little Rose!!!" stars***

"Only a villain will do what's necessay to save you. He'll burn down the world if he has to."

I'm kind of sad that this series had come to an end...
I had such a great time with the first generation, as well with the second one... I went to wild adventures alongside the Priesthood men and their feisty woman...
And of course, the most anticipated story, Michelle left it for the end and OMG!!! Viktor was so swoon worthy, even though he was the Bratva Boss!!!
Add to that mix, feisty Rosalie and you are having an explosive result!!!

"You think you can fight me, Little Rose?"

Rosalie's world changed when her family was murdered in front of her eyes by the Priesthood, but her bad luck didn't stop there....
She got captured by one of them and she was being forced to live under his roof... Rosalie is desprerate and full of hatred for her captor and even though, he is treating her right, she can't forget and forgive what he had taken from her... So, she is giving him hell any chance she is getting....

"He's one of the men who killed my family.
He kidnapped me.
I can never forget that."

Viktor Vetrov's father and godfather are legends in their world... So, he took effortless the position of the leader... He is charming and smart and from the first moment that he laid his eyes on little Rose, he wanted her his!!!
But she is a tough nut to crack and even though, she is not allowing him to get closer to her, he needs to protect her from their cruel world, so he is making the decision to keep her close to him until she turned 21... But is this for good or bad???

"She's so fucking innocent, hurting her will be like ripping the petals of a blossoming rose."

I liked Rosalie and Viktor together... of course, there was distance between them, but the intensity was chocking you every time that they were in each other's presence...
These are not their only problems... The real problems are starting when Rosalie is tunring 21 and she is leaving Victor behind...
But there are no bounds for Viktor in order to protect the girl who had stolen his heart!!!
He might be her captor, but she is the one who was holding all the power...

"I've fought wars and killed hundreds, and all it took was a woman to bring me to my knees."

I loved Viktor so much!!! I think he is my most favorite guy of the bunch, even though I freakin' loved all of them very much!!!
I loved his devotion toward Rosalie... From the moment he had laid his eyes on her, there was no other woman for him, even though the circumstances weren't on his favor...
I liked his protectiveness and possessiveness... I just loved him fiercely. End of story.

"All of my friends married the women of their dreams, and I'm forced to say goodbye to mine."

As for Rosalie??? I liked that she was loyal to her family even though Viktor was borning intense feelings inside of her... I liked that she took her time to give into him... I liked that she wanted to discover herself without him, even though it cost her greatly in the end...
These two were perfect for each other and even though it took them time to be together, I enjoyed their ride very much!!!

"Tell me one last lie."
"I hate you, Viktor."

And now after this beautiful series by Michelle Heard, I am wondering...
And what now???
But I have faith that this woman will deliver us something equally amazing and I can not wait to live new adventures by her side!!!

"Am I still the villain in your story?"

Better than the past two books I've read! I liked the other two, but I think this one was a bit better. Viktor's pining was just so!! You can just feel his heartache when Rosalie left and how he was so anguished. Yeah, sometimes I do like reading men feeling distress because they love the heroine so much... Anyway, I kind of feel the two year time jump ruined it for me. I wish those two years was broken down into months so we can read what it's like between them during that time. And by the 70-80% mark everything was actually done. The book could've ended by that point since everything was pretty much wrapped up. Nevertheless, I think this might be my favorite from the series.

Star Rating : 4.5 / 5 Stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : Viktor

Heroine : Rosalie

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 5/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Triggers Involved : Past Trauma , Kidnapping , Violence

Plot Summary :
Rosalie knew she was from a family born out of blood. She knew her family was not nice and that they were not nice people who did a simple job. It was filled with bloodshed but it never really touched her. Until one day it did. With her whole family being dead and her being in the clutches of the man responsible for their death , she knows life has taken a worse turn for her. The only issue is the man who kidnapped her. Viktor. The head of the mafia. The man responsible for her life being ruined is as monstrous as he is pretty. He says he wants to save her but then entices her in a way that wants to make her stay . And that will never happen because she won't survive the guilt of being with the killer of her family.

Viktor knows he has to lead someday so forming relationships has never been his thing. He has his family and that is enough. Until one day he catches himself a pretty rose. Rosalie does not deserve to suffer for the sins of her family and so he took her. She is innocent and he will keep her until she is independent enough to face the outer world . If only he could let her go. She might be the enemy and she might hate him for killing her family but that does not mean they were not attracted to each other. This was going to be tougher that he thought.

Overall Opinion :
VIKTOR IS HERE!!

Like omg , I have been waiting so not patiently for this man's book ever since the ending of book one of this series. The way the author kept his story for the end all the while feeding his crumbs to what was happening with him was cruel and amazing at once. I was so hooked! 🤣🤣🤣

This one is definitely my most favourite read of this series. Viktor and Rosalie are amazing! There is no dark stuff , nothing. Worth mentioning. It has a few light triggers but it seemed like a contemporary mafia romance to me with a possessive intense hero whom I loved a lot and a heroine who kept him on his toes.

Definitely recommending this one to all the dark romance loving people out there.

Captured by a Sinner is the 5th, and I believe final, book in Michelle Heard’s Sinners mafia series. These are all standalones but exist in the same organized crime world with the heroes being heads of the most prominent crime families (Greek, Irish, Turkish, Italian, Bratva). This book starts out with a captor/captive situation which quickly evolves from there.

After the Priesthood wipes out Rosalie’s family when she’s 17, Rosalie find herself kidnapped and held prisoner by the head of the Bratva, Viktor Vetrov (who is 25 at the time). Her grandfather was involved with the Sicilian mafia and got himself into trouble. Viktor decides to take her to his home and tells her he will keep her safe until she’s 18. When he finds out that she’ll be 18 in just 5 days, he decides that isn’t long enough for her to grieve, get on her feet, and remain safe, so he decides it’s in her best interest if he keeps her until she’s 21 instead. He wants to know she can survive in the world once he lets her leave, even encourages her to work out and try to run away, which of course makes her point out that he’s the “weirdest kidnapper ever. 😆

We do get a time jump right after she turns 18 and the story jumps to just a couple weeks before she turns 21 and leaves. Once she leaves Viktor’s, she ends up tangled up and in trouble with the Cosa Nostra. She finds out her family had debts to them and they’ll make her pay with a forced marriage. Rosalie quickly realizes there are actual monsters out there and the man she left behind wasn’t bad at all

This book moved very fast, Viktor is taken with Rosalie from the start. They don’t begin anything until she’s just shy of her 21st birthday, which is right before the time she leaves his house. With the time jump from when she’s 18 to almost-21, I felt like we missed out on seeing any of them spending time together and growing a relationship over those years. So it came off kind of insta-love because of missing out on those years instead of seeing their relationship form. And then the rest of the book, she had taken off right after turning 21 so we don’t see them together again until towards the end of the book. I definitely wanted to see more of their time together and forming their chemistry/relationship earlier, we do start to get it towards the end of the book once they’re back together again but it wraps up quickly. There was also less mafia action in this book. I did enjoy how he loves to spoil her: he surprises her with a no-limit shopping spree at the bookstore (the total racks up to over $2k!), has bookshelves built in her room, buys her a puppy, surprise trip to Bali.

Thank you to Candi Kane PR for an e-ARC. All thoughts in this review are my own. Captured by a Sinner has a publish date of September 12, 2022.

I loved this book the most in the whole series but i had to take one star away because of tiny things that irked me. its more of a me problem than a book problem

I was excited for this book because the last four books there was a lot of mention of Victor being a tech viz and being able to find things/people like a bloodhound and so I was ready for some crazy stalker behaviour.
Now this point might not be a dealbreaker but it irked me that Victor called Rosalie Moyà Malen'kaya Roza EVERY SINGLE TIME and i feel like if you use a nickname frequently, you are bound to make a shorter version of it……so……yeah what I’m trying to say is, after once or twice the nickname lost its impact because it was so wordy

3.5 Stars.
Nice end to the series.

We finally get Rosalie and Viktor. We started seeing hints of them in previous books that really left it up to our imagination but their actual story was so different than I pictured. We get to see how they came together and quickly get caught up to their present. I kind of anticipated it to be more vicious overall during those three years together. While I did enjoy how gone for Rose Viktor was, I do feel like the time jump and lack of growth from Rose during said jump was a bit disappointing. I was expecting a bit more from her and when we see them both again, I didn't feel like any time had passed.

Final book in the series, I’ve waited for Victor’s and Rosalie’s story. I already feel sentimental towards all priesthood characters. M.Heard knows how to write these easy romances set in crime world.

Tropes: captivity, age gap, role play, possessive hero, crime setting, cutest nickname.

Omg!! How I would like to be captured by this sinner!! It’s always challenging to single out any particular book in a series, but I can safely say this is my absolute favourite.

Told from the POV of the main characters, Rosalie has such a tough start to finding her happy ever after. I love her fortitude and her steadfast love for her family.

I have met Viktor before in earlier books, where he has always been the strong, ruthless, bratva leader; I was so thrilled to read his story and get to see a different, perhaps more vulnerable side to his personality. Don’t get me wrong, when Viktor is defending the people he loves, there is no room for emotion, but there are times when a more caring, sensitive side becomes apparent.

I loved getting insights into the lives of all the other members of the Priesthood and their respective spouses. I have to single out Luca, because his relationship with Viktor, in particular, is full of brotherly love, loyalty, and humour.

This was such an awesome, riveting read filled with action, drama, and heat. I’m truly sad to be saying goodbye to this world; I hope this is simply a fond farewell for now, and they will all return again one day soon...I received an early version of this book from the author.
