First I wanna rant a little about the awful doing of the cover. There might be a story this cover would be fitting for but it’s certainly not this one. The cover looks grey and depressing and sets the vibe and content of this book totally wrong! I’m sure, with a different cover, this book would get the attention it deserves in my opinion. If this hadn’t been a recommendation I probably wouldn’t have looked at it twice.
The storytelling felt a bit choppy and rushed in the beginning. I guess to get the intro into the characters and backstories out of the way and the actual story going.
Regardless, I WAS GLUED TO THE PAGES and it was SO HARD for me to put it down every time I needed to.
Kyle and Kane are brothers, only ten months apart (but look and behave more like twins) and because of their tough upbringing they are super tight. In fact, they do everything together —even dating and having sex (not with each other, tho). They are both marines and still on reserve duty but mostly living civilian life. They are both Dungeon monitors in a big BDSM club and both Doms.
When they meet sweet, vanilla Derek, the new club photographer, they set their eyes on him, encouraged by the heated looks he’s giving them. With their experience in kink they see potential in Derek immediately but he has to figure out a possible interest in the lifestyle for himself. So they wait for him to do so, while they date� and he does.
Turns out he is a beautiful, affection loving kitten, exploring his submissive side for the very first time with them and right before their eyes. *meow
I don’t know what this is with my picks lately but this as well was pretty slow burn and tame for the first half of the book but the tension between the three of them was delicious.
And I really loved the grandma. So accepting. �
Despite me loving this story a lot I came to accept that overall I didn’t enjoy the writing- and storytelling style of this author much so I leave it a four solid stars.

Two brothers + a kitten = purrific 🐱
The thing with interesting reviews on this app is: You rarely ends up reading stuff from your tbr, and spontaneously start a book that wasn’t on your radar. This one is on you, Kati. AGAIN! 😂
It’s book 7 in a series around a bdsm club, but I haven’t had any difficulties reading it. Yes, at some point or another you meet previous couples, but it’s still easy to follow the plot.
This book is about Kane and Kyle, brothers and former marines who work in said bdsm club. While there’s no brother/brother action, they love to share their lovers, and are currently on the lookout for a new sub.
They set their eyes on Derek, a photographer who’s been hired to take pictures of the club and of willing club members. Derek isn’t in the bdsm scene, but Kyle and Kane sense his submissive side, and that he’ll probably be comfortable in the role of a pet.
Then, they wait 😬 (hence the book title), they wait for the sexual tension between them to convince Derek to dip his toes into pet play, and when he does, Derek realises that as a kitten, he can finally let go and take all the things he always needed, but never got from previous lovers.
It’s so interesting, reading about his reasoning and the way he lets go of everything while he’s a kitten, and I loved the dynamics between Kyle and Kane.
The parts that didn’t interest me as much were the non-relationship and -sex parts (sue me, I was all in for the smut but not for the plot 😂), so I skimmed the parts about Kyle and Kane’s jobs and the parts about Derek’s grandmother, even though she’s been lovely and open minded about everything.
Very entertaining, and recommended to everyone who’s interested in pet play dynamics 😊

I really love this series and this book is another great one. It’s the second time I’ve read it and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Derek no esperaba que una proposiocion de negocios para hacer fotografias para un Website de un Club le abriera las puertas a algo que realmente no conocia. Al ser contratado para hacer fotos de Club The Church y eventualmente hacer fotos tipo "Boudoir" para las parejas dentro del Club, Derek se da cuenta que el mundo del BDSM es mucho mas de lo que esperaba y eso empieza a despertar deseos dentro de el que no sabia que tenia. Y mas aun cuando conoce a los hermanos Kyle y Kane, quienes lo guiaran en esta nueva experiencia y ademas lo ayudaran a encontrar su identidad dentro del BDSM ademas de con ellos.
Ahora solo Derek debe dejar de pensar y confiar que Kyle y Kane haran todo lo que este a su alcance para hacerlo feliz y sobre todo para establecer una relacion donde los 3 puedan ser amados.
Este libro es tan romantico como las anteriores, pero un poco mas erotico, quizas sea porque son los hermanos y es un libro de un trio, pero me parecio que las escenas eroticas eran mucho mas hot que las que lei en libros anteriores de esta serie. En cuanto a la trama, no tiene mucho, es mas un romance simple, sencillo, no hay nada complejo, ni grandes revelaciones. Aqui conocemos mucho mas a Kyle y Kane, pero poco de Derek, asi como tampoco vemos mucho a los otros integrantes del Club, mas que en una que otra escena. Pero con todo y eso, no hacen falta, realmente es el primer libro de la serie donde no siento que haga falta leer los otros para entenderlo, pero siempre ayuda conocerlos cuando describen las pequenas escenas donde aparecen, como la cena con Quentin y Nolan o la reunion con los otros dentro del Club.
En fin, es una serie entretenida, y segun lei (al final de este libro) el autor me va a complacer escribiendo un libro de antologia donde veremos a algunos de los secundarios en la serie encontrar su amor verdadero, espero poder leer pronto ese libro y asi cerrar con broche de oro esta serie.

I really enjoy this series. Izaia has a new and refreshing take on BDSM relationships and kinks that not many authors are brave enough to tackle, or if they do, it’s not done well. The kitten play in this is fairly light. And the brothers are not intimate (it’s available on Amazon after all) but they do have an extremely close relationship. It was sweet and fun and a unique dynamic. There were a lot of typos though and I wish they had ended up naming Derek’s kitten (since that was mentioned earlier then never again). It’s a slow burn and I appreciated the submissive self discovery. Awesome addition to this series.

the first half was very boring. i expected kink (you know, it’s a kinky book so i guessed it was a given) and it just wasn’t there.
the second half was better but it wasn’t enough to make me completely enjoy this.
i mean you have twins sharing and kitten play i definitely shouldn’t feel bored while reading this.
i don’t know if i’ll lower this, right now it’s between 2.5/3 and i went with 3 because i don’t like to waste brain power.
i’ll keep looking for both a good book with twins sharing and a book with kitten play that doesn’t make me fall asleep.

You're going to think I'm lying, but this book was one surprise after another. First, I was so excited to start it that I ignored all the signs that said MMM romance and skipped the synopsis. Oops. When I found out it was the Kane and Kyle book I had been looking forward to from the beginning, I screamed a little. And then, as if that wasn't enough, I found out about halfway through that it was a pet play 🤣. If that wasn't enough, I got a super surprise with the fact that it was a kitty play that I had never read before! And I loved it! It's definitely one of my favorite books in the series.

That was beautiful! I liked getting a little more insight into Kane and Kyle's relationship and childhood, and the contrast between theirs and Derek's childhood. Derek's Grandma Lily is a fantastic character -- she's some hardcore parenting goals there! There were definitely some unexpected time stretches, since I had no idea it had been as long from the start of the book to the epilogue. It felt a little bit like the SpongeBob narrator saying "three weeks lehta" with wavy time-lapse lines... The next book sounds very interesting, and I can't wait to see who she decides to write about besides Max!

I've liked Kane and Kyle throughout the books, so I was looking forward to this one. However, yet again, this book fell flat for me.
The military aspect in this book is completely unrealistic. It just doesn't happen this way in real life. And while I know this is fiction, it should still mirror what actually happens in real life. At least for me.
But the biggest thing for me was the pet play. I just didn't buy it with Derek. This guy knows nothing, NOTHING about BDSM at all, but yet decides the route he's going to go is to be a kitten. Yeah, didn't work for me.

June 28, 2022I feel like I anxiously await anything of this author writes and when I found out that there was going to be a seventh book in this series I lost my shit. I was so excited because this series is one of my go-to light and fluffy rereads and I'm so happy to have another one to add.
This book is about Kane and Kyle, who are brothers and bouncers at the BDSM Club that this series revolves around. This book does have a poly relationship with the two brothers and a third but there is no incest. It's about as close as I can get to brother taboo. Kane and Kyle are not twins but they are super close and have been since they were kids. They look alike and both joined the Marines, they live together, they do the same job but they're still clearly two different people and I like that we got both of their perspectives. When Derek signs a contract to become the photographer for the club, Kane and Kyle are assigned to watch over him and protect and make sure nothing happens. There is a kind of coming of age into kink for this involving kitten play, which is just super cute. Pet play and age play are some of my favorite kinks just because of the low angst softness that revolves around them.
Overall it was very quick easy fluffy read and I'm thrilled that we got another Izaia Winter book.

Kane and Kyle are Irish Twin brothers who have an intense bond forged by necessity. They do everything together, okay not that, but everything else. One is not complete without the other and neither is completely happy without the love they crave to share with a third.
It’s beautiful to see Derek blossom into his true self under the guidance of Kane and Kyle. The loving relationship all three build together, is truly #relationshipgoals
If you like animal play, I think you’ll enjoy the journey of discovery Derek is on as he embraces his inner kitten.

Kyle and Kane have interested me due to the previous books they are in.
This whole series is spectacular and is done so well. The plot and characters, not only in this book but in the series as a whole, are amazing.

Derek was so sweet and cute - the perfect little kitten. Kane and Kyle are clearly two different people and I love the fact that the author picked up on this and wrote it so clearly and so well.

Wow. I already want to reread the whole series!
Every book by this author is a 5 star read for me! (Thank you Mads for telling me to read this series!)
I didn't know how I would feel about the two brothers but I really didn't need to worry!! Izaia Winter handled their relationship beautifully. I adored all three character and how they grew into something even more beautiful.

waiting for Derek
I adore the family of men who call The Church their home and while having the two Dom brothers naughty with each other would have been much better in my humble (horny) opinion I understand why they were not but it was still a fantastic story

Highly recommend
I’ve waited for a long time for Kyle and Kane’s book and it didn’t disappoint. Derek was just what these two needed. We learn more about the mysterious twins, finally! It was also nice to catch up with some of the other couples from previous books.

6/26/22- I enjoyed reading this and it kept my attention, which is unsurprising given the usually high quality of this author's writing, but...when I think back on it, the overall impression I'm left with is that this was pleasant and sweet, but a little bland. This was a pretty fluffy read that mostly had to do with establishing the different MCs, self-discovery, and getting settled in a new relationship, but that's about it. Sometimes that can be enough to carry the whole story and still be strong, but since everything was accepted so readily and early on in this book, it didn't come across as much in the long run.
I think my problem with this particular book is that there wasn't much in the way of character development. Yes, Derek did discover a part of himself in being submissive and with kitten play, but that's about it for any progress in all three of the MCs. I think the only angst was a very small portion when Kyle gets called away on a mission. So while I appreciate both fluffy and angsty stories individually, when the writing is high-quality and I know what the author is capable of, I was a little disappointed with the lack of plot.
However, I know that not every book an author writes can be as good or better than their previous books. I still really enjoyed the story and I'll probably read it again whenever I re-read the series in the future. I would like to read the next installment, which is supposed to be a 4-part anthology of different couples/side characters, but I'll probably only read the MM ones. I'd really like to read full-length books on Simon and Lee, though Lee's story should probably wait a bit since then we'd have two pet play books in a row. (Lee's into puppy play, which I'm not that crazy about, but the little that I saw of his character made me really like him.)

I thought this series was done for but the author returned with a solid addition. I thought Kane and Kyle's relationship would be more taboo. It's pretty tame compared to what the other characters think they do behind closed doors. Derek is the perfect meat (pun intended) to go between this brother sandwich. Kane and Kyle are similar but the author did a good job with giving them a distinct personality. I still had some difficulties telling their voices apart but it didn't take me out of the book.

A good start but it gets lost in the middle
It hurts me to rate this book a 1 but I'll list the reasons why so bear with me.
Waiting for Derek had a good start, it's interesting to read and the fact Derek is not into BDSM at the beginning just makes the story have a plus, since I couldn't wait to read about how he would realize his desires and how Kane and Kyle would work around it.
But there were a few problems that made me not enjoy this story, the book has a slow pace in the beginning, building Kyle and Kane relationship with Derek and after 96 pages we finally get a kiss, which is not a problem, my problem is that after that it felt too fast. I was expecting more work towards their relationship and the BDSM. It all felt too easy and fast.
I missed more work with the brothers, Kyle and Kane had a lot of potential but they felt like second characters to me, and how they fell into a relationship with Derek declaring love so fast was again, too bad for me, it felt too fast and it made me feel like Waiting for Derek was written with hastiness. I was waiting for a deep story and maybe that's my fault since I started this series with this book but at the start it's said to be a standalone.
I was also expecting more work towards Derek with the BDSM, I really missed the experimenation BDSM brings with to the table and I also felt like the club could have gotten more attention and Derek's profession could have been shown more, since the cover has him with a camera which made me believe his work would be more present and not him meeting people from the brother's circle. We barely see him in his scene, that is his work, and since he meets the brothers only because Foster went after a photographer, that was Derek, I was expecting way more attention to that since we get a cover with a camera and the start with a lot of mentions of his work but after it it's basically only on the epilogue that we see it again.
The kitten play was okay, it was cute to see that Kane and Kyle are soft doms and that matched Derek perfectly since he's soft around them, and Derek's grandma was basically the salvation for me since she's such a badass old lady.
I also cringed pretty hard at various scenes and this is not my first BDSM story and I am inside the BDSM scene, so I wasn't expecting that reaction.
But yeah, basically I felt it was all too rushed, I was expecting way more.

Finally! Kane and Kyle find their missing piece to complete them
From the first visit to The Church, readers of the Different Hearts series has been waiting, impatiently I must say, for the story of Kane & Kyle. This two brothers, who serve as Dungeon Masters at The Church, has pricked my interest in how the author would complete their family. Izaia Winters established a wonderful character in Derek- he was such a brave individual. How he calmly made decisions, the thought processes were logical and so honest driven. Derek didn't lie to others and more importantly, he didn't lie to himself.
Finding out that he was submissive, and had been for sometime, once finding that label that had driven his pass relationships, he was better able to see himself clearly, both his wants and needs.
Kane & Kyle while slotting together to function were actively looking for their person to complete them. No matter how many times they were judged, they stayed true to themselves and their needs. That ability to stay strong facing odds was the backbone for their characters.
Izaia Winter wrote this book by being true to the characters she had already established and expounding on it. This series is one of my favorites. Even as part of the Kindle Unlimited, I've still bought every book in this series. I have enjoyed that differences shown by the different kinks that are represented in this series. Only one complaint, time between releases of new books.BUT, if I have to wait a little longer than I like to get a story if this quality, then I won't complain that loudly.
Each book can stand alone, but characters from previous books do show up and are normally involved in the storyline in some capacity. To best enjoy, read the series in order, you'll thank me.

Derek Astor is a photographer and when Foster Hayes walks into his studio asking him to photograph the local BDSM club for him (and possibly the members too) he knows his life is going to get interesting - after all, he knows nothing about BDSM. Having seen the photo of one of the dungeon monitors on their existing website he knows that the tall, dark, handsome and tattooed strange is everything that he could want in a lover. Kane Mercer doesn't mind sharing everything with his brother Kyle even a lover. He knows he will have no problem persuading him that Darek is perfect for them but persuading Derek is going to be much harder, especially as it seems obvious that he would be an excellent kitten.
I enjoyed this story with the discovery of BDSM by Derek, the relationship between everyone and Derek's grandmother, and the way that they all took care of each other. I loved the way that they did what they could to support each other and that meant that Derek could be more serious in portrait photography. It was sweet when he got excited about how wonderful it would be to photograph someone as opposed to talking to them and getting to know them.
Please note that Kyle and Kane may share a sexual partner but they never engage in anything sexual with each other. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MMM story with mature content and BDSM D/s dynamics and kitten play.

Despite my huge desire for this book to be good, it wasn’t even close. I love the weird relationship between the brothers, but in relation to Derek there was no chemistry, no love, no care, no respect, no nothing.
Derek had a crush on them both, they were just looking for their “next one�. It was so wrong on so many levels. I get that they’re doms but from the start till the end it was just what they wanted and how to play the game to get the desired outcome. How to manipulate Derek into becoming what they want and need etc. it was weird to read especially because they don’t have a 24/7 dynamic. It’s scenes. So why aren’t they treating him like an equal and a human in general when they aren’t playing? I love you’s also dropped out of absolutely nowhere, which in this series is expected (instalove) but here it was just so fucking wrong. Love Quentin and Derek though, it was honestly the highlight of the book. And when brothers are separated. Other than that I also wanted to point out the first sex they had was exactly how they planned it out down to the positions and that felt again just so fucking wrong. Like the whole thing is just a game to them nothing else. Such a sad ending to the series for me, I absolutely loved the brothers throughout the series and expected great story for them.

I enjoy the Different Hearts stories and this was one of my favorites. I love how Derek uses his photographer's eye to. look at the world and his perception was awesome. I love that he was hired to be the photographer at the local BDSM club, The Church, and how he was drawn to a man he later learned was Kane but didn't know that the other picture had his brother Kyle in it. He can't believe that they want him and they test him about their unusually close relationship and Derek wins them over when he asks them to dinner at his grandma's house.
I love kitten play and this was one of the best stories. I loved the mask and his fangs and I loved the sex scenes which were insanely hot. And I worried too as both Kane and Kyle had to go on missions but was glad to find that Kyle found the man who had tried to kill Kane.
