Proven Strategies for Breaking Free from Codependency, Stop People Pleasing and Establishing Strong Boundaries
Practical activities and exercises based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are intended to help you set objectives, challenge and replace negative beliefs, recognize triggers, manage conflicts, and reduce stress. Worksheets and note-taking spaces at the end of each chapter provide useful summaries and an incentive to continue your recovery.
In this book, Yevhenii Lozovyi lets us know that codependency can exist when one person develops an unhealthy preoccupation with the needs of the other. Codependency can come from dysfunctional family environments where a person’s feelings are invalidated, feelings are repressed, refusal to acknowledge a person’s existence, or inattention/abandonment. The journal prompts included are meant to help with breaking free from codependency. It’s important to start by setting goals. Writing down your goals can help you avoid any insecurities, criticism, and fear that stop you from working toward them. I found this to be very useful in my own life. I highly recommend this workbook to anyone experiencing codependency.
