The last book in the Last Chance Rescue series, is the darkest of them. It dedicates a large (IMHO) amount of time depicting the more than creepy villain's thoughts and showing all kinds of torture. The things that not only Ethan and Shea, but another secondary character that shall remain nameless, go through are enough to give a weak mind nightmares. I can only believe that Ethan and Shea will live HEA because this is Romancelandia, as there's no way they would be still functional in real life.

So, did I like this book? Oh yes! Do I recommend it? Absolutely. Will I ever reread it? Hell no!

This was the best¡ªand darkest¡ªbook in this trilogy. So good in fact, I have troubles collecting my thoughts in order to write this review.
The two leads were tortured, their pasts were painful, the villain was twisted, the suspense and action intense, the steamy scenes beyond steamy, and the ending was absolutely lovely. The only thing lacking in what was supposed to be the big surprise was the big surprise, because that final plot twist was obvious almost from the get-go.

Shea Monroe and Ethan Bishop had a past, a hot, steamy, tumultuous past. But like any good tortured romance hero he pushed her away and she ended up marrying his best friend only a couple of weeks after their break-up. Little less than a year later, her husband, Cole, died in an explosion and Shea blamed Ethan, Ethan blamed himself and they both left LCR, Ethan because Noah fired him for screwing up an op (in ) and Shea because she wanted to revenge her husband, by finding the true responsible¡ªa phantom by the name of Duncan Rosemount.

Shea¡¯s captured by Rosemount and with use of torture and hypnotic drugs turned into an automaton. She¡¯s a perfect soldier and companion, without emotions without a single cognitive thought, doing everything her "master" tells her to do, trying to please him, waiting for her nightly "vitamin shot" to keep the demons and nightmares at bay.
The LCR operatives are baffled. Shea Monroe¡¯s turned. She¡¯s kidnapping innocents to hold for ransom and they have no idea why. The only one who could shed some light on what happened is the man who knows her best, her former lover, Ethan Bishop.

Ethan, haunted by photos of a "turned" Shea, travels to Mexico to extract her and determine what is wrong with her, but finds himself facing an empty shell trying to kill him. He kidnaps her from the compound, but the following days are a living nightmare for him as he¡¯s unable to help her as she goes through terrible withdrawal, battling demons and nightmares conjured by her fractured subconscious. What is an even greater blow is the fact she doesn¡¯t remember him, she doesn¡¯t trust him, believing he¡¯s her enemy.

Whisking her off to the LCR clinic, Shea goes through detox, but she¡¯s still unable to remember anything about the past three months in captivity or her life prior to it. The only thing she is certain of, is Ethan.
As he takes he to his home in the Smokies, her memories start slowly returning, and she, once again, falls for Ethan, as she remembers what they¡¯ve shared.

But Rosemount is determined to have his gatita back and is willing to use any means necessary to obtain her. Even unleashing a deadly force that might destroy them all.

Boy, what a ride this was. The characterization was excellent, giving us just tiny glimpses into the psyche of the characters (mostly Ethan), revealing just the right amount of information, while keeping the reader salivating for more. There were so many secrets Ethan hid, so many facets of his inner demons, it was a wonder he kept it all together. What he¡¯s been through, what he put Shea through in his quest for self-punishment was heart-breaking, yet oddly I didn¡¯t get the urge to smack him on the head. He wasn¡¯t being idiotic in his pushing her away, he truly believed he didn¡¯t deserve her, didn¡¯t deserve redemption.

Shea was another nicely-drawn character. A woman lost, without any recollection of who or what she was, of what exactly happened to her, but strong and determined to regain her memory and make the culprits pay. It was bitter-sweet watching her fall in love¡ªonce again or even more¡ªwith Ethan, suspecting what might have driven them apart and knowing that as she regained her memories, they would both end up hurt again. Even though she didn¡¯t know him, didn¡¯t remember him, she simply navigated to the one man that had been a constant in her life before the abduction, Ethan.
I wanted desperately to know what drew her to marrying Ethan¡¯s best friend only a few weeks after their breakup, and when the blow came (though I suspected what it was) it had quite an impact. I didn¡¯t agree with her decision, but, in the frame of mind she was in at the time, she really didn¡¯t see any other choice.
Lucky for her, she emerged from her ordeal with Rosemount a different, stronger, more self-assured woman who was able and willing to go to any length to get what she wanted.

Another strong point of this story was the villain. I actually looked forward to the scenes with him, because he was twisted and nuts just enough to keep things interesting and keep the reader intrigued just what made the guy tick and if he was really as sick and twisted as he seemed.

The action scenes gave precedence to more introspection, character development and relationship (re)building, but that sure didn¡¯t slow the pace down, because Shea and Ethan were so nicely drawn and well-written they kept the intrigue-levels high, revealing secrets at a leisurely pace, keeping the reader guessing, speculating, and hoping.

A well-written, dark, fast-paced, romantic suspense novel with wonderful and well-developed characters with just the right amount of flaws and tortured souls. Highly recommended read¡For those wondering, it can easily be read separately from the series.
I absolutely loved it!

Quick Summary
Shea Monroe goes deep undercover, so deep her friends and associates at Last Chance Rescue don't even know. She's trying to get the creep who killed her husband, Cole, but what she gets into is deep trouble. Ethan Bishop comes out of retirement to rescue her and finds anything but a willing hostage.

The mission
The target of Shea's mission is a sleazy rat named Donald Rosemount who, among many other distasteful things, is a professional kidnapper. How he goes about recruiting help is even worse than the abductions. Getting Shea from his clutches is the least of Ethan's worries. Saving her from herself after what Rosemount did to her is a huge challenge.

What really works
Ethan had a history with Shea before her marriage to Cole. As he works to unravel the mess Rosemount made of Shea, he's also struggling with his unresolved love for and guilt about her. The romance and the suspense were expertly woven so one was always part of the other. That's really tough to do but it's a strong talent of Christy Reece. They were always at risk of discovery and there weren't any stupid moves made by anyone. In fact, these are some of the smartest operatives who have extremely skilled tactics that weren't predictable. Refreshing.

The bottom line
I must disclose upfront that Christy Reece is now an auto buy for me. This is the third book in the series and I wish I could drop all my reading obligations and just finish the series! It has everything that you want in a romance and an action story. Ethan is far from perfect but that's what works. Shea's fierce and tough, a heroine I came to admire. Run to this book!

I like this series. Much of it stretches belief, but it's suspenseful, romantic and exciting, so I can handle that.

This third installment had a few problems for me, though. To be honest, I was disappointed with the sex. No, not because there wasn't enough of it. Because it was there. It seemed wrong in the context and I thought the hero should have waited until there were no secrets between them. It took some of the romance away and felt like it was the author fulfilling a quota.

The story line was creepy, which was a good thing, but recovery from some experiences seemed pretty farfetched. That's a little pet peeve of mine. I really can't see any of these people going on to live anything even close to a normal life after what happened to them, particularly the chemical effects and head games. Again, I'm willing to suspend disbelief, but I know that whenever I see those characters in future installments (if there are any), I'm going to think "that one's going to go off one day."

In any case, Ethan and Shea are a nice couple. Ethan is a good, tortured hero. The reveal of their pasts is done well and the story is put together nicely.

I think what I like most about this series is that the books have a structure that feels a little different from what I'm used to. She has been using the same template, though, and it would be nice to see the next one shake that up a little bit.

So, in closing, I recommend this series. It's not anything totally new, but the action is well-described and exciting, the romance is believable and the heroes and heroines are likable. I think people will enjoy it.

Christy Reece continues to meet my expectations of her writing.

I loved this book just as much as the other two, ¡°Rescue Me¡°, and ¡°Return To Me¡±.
Reece continues to send her tortured characters through the wringer, along with my heart.

The story/plot is introduced in the prior book, and brings us to Ixtapa, Mexico where Shea Monroe, who is on a non LCR mission to seek out the evil Donald Rosemount has been captured. Her personal mission was to seek out and kill Rosemount, who is responsible for the death of her husband Cole Mathison. After being captured, Rosemount *shivers* decides to keep Shea as his pet. He doses her with a drug cocktail, that wipes out her memory, and strips her will, shaping it to his own. After Rosemount tortures and brainwashes her to turn her, basically into his minion, he sends Shea on missions to do his bidding for him, organized kidnapping for ransom, and human trafficking.

After Shea has been missing for a few months, surveillance cameras in public places have caught her doing the kidnappings, Noah McCall contacts Ethan Bishop, who was on the mission that killed Cole, and has an extensive past with Shea, to rescue her. Of course they immediately don¡¯t know if she turned sour, or has gone that deep cover.

Ethan and Shea each have their own tortured past, and a past together that ended in heartbreak for both of them. Because of a mistake that he made when he was a very young man, Ethan doesn¡¯t believe he deserves any happiness.
This was a great journey of love lost, self discovery, forgiveness and redemption.

The pacing of this book was a little slower due to the subject matter, but was IMO, a great read. The action picked up toward the latter half of the book, and had my heart thumping, and I caught myself holding my breath a few times.
I loved getting to know Ethan and Shea, and going on this journey with them.

***Quotes

At his low, rusty laugh, vibrations of pleasure caressed her senses. That laugh should be bottled and sold to women everywhere.

As if he hadn¡¯t spoken, Ethan let his eyes roam up and down Rosemount¡¯s body as he mused, ¡°And you¡¯re a scrawny little creature, not much bigger than the maggot you resemble. The killing will be easy for me. Your pain will be immense. Your bones will crack like dry dead wood. Puny little ribs will puncture your shriveled pea-sized heart. I¡¯ll make sure you stay alive until every single fucking bone in your weasel-sized soft little body is snapped.¡±

Shea and Ethan have a very extensive history together. Too bad we don't get to know what it is until 3/4 of the book is over. It was frustrating, and I think I would have felt a lot more connected with them if I could have understood where they were each coming from. Their history as a couple is constantly hinted at. We know they were together and that Ethan didn't want to commit, but that's about it. There was a lot more than that between them, though. Both their childhoods were glossed over, though life-altering, terrible events took place. Sure, the story was told, but I felt as if I needed more insight.

Instead, we get a great beginning; exciting and horrifying, the first few pages had me on edge already. THEN there are about 150 pages of back and forth, inner dialogue, second guessing of oneself, second guessing the person next to you, distrusting everyone, etc. Also, the relationship between the two felt very reminiscent of Noah and Samara. Ethan feels as if he has done such terrible things. Shea could do so much better. He says horrible things to her, trying to push her away, very nearly succeeding. Shea is fooled for a bit, then practically begs him to love her. Bleh. Suffice it to say, there was just something redundant in the love angle.

Okay, now the rest of the story was definitely original. It was actually really interesting. There is a mad scientist evil genius dude who kidnaps people and has a hand in some really disgusting trades. Needless to say, SOMEONE from LCR is captured, and not nice things happen. I'm continually surprised at how brutal the images are that come from Ms. Reece's books. She manages to not describe graphically, yet still give the reader a pretty good idea of the depravity of the bad guys.

I was happy with the ending. Everything tied up nicely, despite the fact that the romance sort of bored me. I'm feeling excited to read some of the stories alluded to here, namely Gabe and Cole's. Both seem to have some pretty big mountains to climb to get to normal.

It could be a 5 stars book if not for dubts that Ethan had all through the book.

The history between Shea and Ethan is divided in two periods: first when they where in love and together until Shea wanted more commitment and tryed to force him into it; second, after her rescue and loss of memory.

I understand that he's felt responsible, but too much is too much.
What I didn't understand is that he continues to feel responsible for an accident happened many years ago. He was driving the car when an accident happened during which his college girlfriend died.
OK, it was terrible, the guilt must have been huge, he went in prison for that, so I think he could forgive himself after so many years. But even if he ruined his first time relationship with Shea for that reason, he still insists with it even now! It's just too much for me!

Shea, on the other hand, during the first period of their relationship, even knowing about his past tries to force him into marriage getting pregnant! And after her attampt failes, run to his best friend and marries him! I just couldn't get it! A big NO!

So these two grown up people, who love each other very much , cannot solve their relation until the very end of the book... Sad...

Instead the story was excellently managed. To get the two periods so well intertwined was not easy.

The villan of the story was interesting as well. His mental illness and his complete depravity and absence of conscience was really frightening. Ms. Reece describes some really disturbing actions without being too graphic, but giving all the same a feeling of terror.

I liked the book even with all its flaws and I'll be definitely read the next book of the series, even if not right now. I feel I need time time to digest the feeling this one left in my stomach! *wink*

Such a GOOD book! Absolutely LOVED IT!!!

Full review reposted from my Smitten with Reading blog...

My Review:
Run to Me is one of my favorite books from Christy Reese's Last Chance Rescue (LCR) series. She is about to release book #7 in the series, Sweet Justice (August 30th), so has been hostessing chats about all the former books on her blog leading up to that. It's given me a chance to re-read and write full reviews on all these books that I love- a win-win for all of us.

This book is Shea and Ethan's book. The description of it (above) is very good so I won't re-hash it. To say that this is an emotional book is putting it mildly. The thing that is never in doubt is that Ethan loves Shea with all that he is. As he is trying to rescue her, she shoots him and racks him (she has been brainwashed and has no memory of him) and he continues with her rescue trying to protect her and treat her as gently as possible.

Shea has been through hell. Captured, drugged, and basically enslaved, she has lost her memories and is not sure who to trust. She sure doesn't trust Ethan when he first "rescues" her. All she knows is what she has been told by her "master" and that becomes more and more fuzzy as the drugs get out of her system. She is very strong, but quickly comes to rely on Ethan as her anchor in the LCR world which is extremely confusing to her scattered memory.

This story has so many twists and turns. The first time that I read it, I gasped out loud all the way through it. Like all of Christy's books, the suspense is incredible- not so much from a mystery or bad guy, but because you can't see how it's going to end with an HEA for everyone.

If you like romantic suspense and have not read these books by Christy Reece, I highly recommend them!!! Here is the layout of the series:
1. Rescue Me - Jordan & Eden
2. Return to Me - Samara & Noah
3. Run to Me - Ethan & Shea (this review)
4. No Chance - Gabe & Skylar
5. Second Chance - Cole & Keeley
6. Last Chance - McKenna & Lucas
7. Sweet Justice (Aug 2011) - Honor & Seth
8. Sweet Revenge (Sept 2011) - Dylan & Jamie
9. Sweet Reward (Dec 2011) - Jared & Mia

This is a 5+++++ star story,so dark intense emotional romantic suspense ,absolutely loved Ethan-Shea's story both have suffered so much but still they stood again and became LCR people giving their life to save others,Ethan loves Shea but he purposely said some hurtful things and pushed Shea away but now he has got this second chance and Shea does'nt remembers anything about past months and her life but slowly she is healing,Ethan has decided once she is safe he will go away till then he will protect her but the more he is with Shea both are getting more closure and the villian is out there he wants Shea back

So the fight is on between Ethan to protect his love from that cruel psycho man and Noah has to find the mole in LCR who is betraying them, enjoyed all actions and suspense,we have some dark moments also ,we even get to know Ethan's past and what he suffered how he met Noah and adored and enjoyed Ethan-Shea's journey to find their love, happiness and HEA

Donald Rosemount is one sick cruel abusive control freak psycho man,god way he abuses and tortures people and the drug he is giving people to train them,i have never disliked no hated is the right word a negative character in book so much

Absolutely fantastic read, this has become one of my best romantic suspense series so far, will go on to read Noah's story

Author Christy Reece has a gift. She can take the most over-the-top plot and have you buy it without the slightest roll of your eyes. It's really quite a talent.

So, it wasn't the plot involving a pale, weedy man drugging strong, tough, healthy people to create mindless automatons that call him master and do his bidding that was the part I had a problem with. It wasn't the amnesia trope that resulted, either.

My issue was a desire to smack Ethan upside the head for hanging onto issues from the past completely unnecessarily. And because that irritated me, I had trouble with the relationship - especially hard given Shea didn't really know who she was for most of the book.

My other concern with this one was that I was completely drawn into the situation involving another character and the evil-doer, but was left unsatisfied by the resolution. On the bright side, I'm hoping that's because this character will be getting his own book. Now that's one I'd like to read.

So, the writing, as always, was great, but my connection to Ethan and Shea was slightly lacking. That said, this was still an enjoyable read that left me keen to continue this series.

This is the third book of the Last Chance Rescue series and it didn't move as fast paced as the other two. The romance was slow and overridden with Ethan's guilt and remorse for how he treated Shea in the past. The suspense was just not that much. You know the baddie and pretty much expect what is going to happen.

The plot revolves around a twisted psychopathic kidnapper for hire, Donald Rosemount, who killed an LCR operative and took Shea and turned her into his zombie operative and companion by using designer drugs and torture on her. The CIA could take a few pointers from this guy. Shea's memory is wiped by the drugs and she calls this slime "Master" and obeys his every command. Rosemount wants his "kitten" back and will not be stopped.

Ethan and Shea had a professional and romantic relationship before Ethan went all martyr and decided he wasn't good enough for Shea and basically drove her into the arms of Cole, the LCR operative who Rosemount killed. After Cole dies Shea goes after Rosemount only to be captured and drugged. Ethan rescues her, but her memory is Swiss cheese. The attraction between them is still there and Ethan fights it, but Shea, who doesn't remember what an ass he was, just wants him.

What can I say. I am hooked on this author. This series is prob one of my favorites so far! Her characters are built so perfectly that you spend week after finishing the book still with this image in your mind. The romance/suspense is just right and she never fails when putting in a good storyline. The main character Ethan, was mention in the last book and it was just enough information to know his past when beginning to read this book. the way all the juicy info gets poured out in this book is great. Im not gonna lie, I am not ready to part with Etahn Bishop.. I might have to re-read of few chapters!. I really reccommend Christy Reece!!

LCR bukan organisasi yg diciptakan scr fiktif dgn over glorifikasi oleh author.

I think this book is perhaps my favorite of the series so far. It's a tough call. All three books I've read so far have been solid 4-star reads, but this one was maybe a smidge better than the previous two.

Series Note:
Third book in Reece's ¡°Last Chance Rescue¡± series about an independent agency that focuses on rescuing victims, even if their means are outside the law. You may or may not be able to read this book without reading the other two first, but I think there'd be more of an impact if you read the series. There is a definite connection in the series among the characters and events.

Summary:
Years ago, Ethan and Shea had a serious relationship. Shea wanted permanence, but Ethan, due to events in his past, didn't think he deserved to be happy forever. So he pushed Shea into the arms of his best friend, Cole. Shea and Cole married, but then Cole is killed in a mission that went bad. Ethan's blames himself for Cole's death and his reckless actions lead to him being fired from Last Chance Rescue (LCR).

Unbeknownst to Ethan and the other operatives at LCR, Shea has decided to exact vengeance on the man responsible for Cole's death. Only her plans don't go so well and she is captured, drugged, and brainwashed by the evil man. Ethan is called in to rescue Shea and help nurse her back to health. The close quarters lead to renewed feelings. But Ethan is holding back information from Shea, despite knowing it could blow up in his face. Then Shea's tormentor resurfaces, putting all their lives in danger and springing a surprise on them that no one expected.

Review:
For me, there's little more enjoyable (book wise) than reading a good romantic suspense series. And this one qualifies as such. A solid, engaging romantic suspense element. Excellent characters, great romance. Lots of angst. And a happy ending to top it off. It's got everything I love in romantic suspense.

The suspense plot of this book is enough to give you the creeps. Shea is attempting to get revenge on the man that killed her husband and in the process is kidnapped by evil Donald Rosemount ¨C a creepy guy who has delusions of grandeur to overcompensate for all that he lacks elsewhere. Once she's captured, she's tortured then given a heavy duty combo of drugs that turns her into a mindless drone, living only to do her Masters bidding. It's so disturbing and creepy. She's got no control of herself, all her memories are washed away. It just makes you shudder it's so terrible. Then's she rescued and has to go through withdrawal and trying to get back to who she really is, all the while only slowly regaining bits and pieces of her memory with help from Ethan, the man who broke her heart.

There are a lot of scenes in the book focusing on the bad guy and his other special pet, who he calls ¡°creature¡± and ¡°animal.¡± That guy is a total sleazoid. But even though I was totally creeped out by the plot, it also had me thoroughly engaged, wanting to know what would happen next, how Shea would recover, how it would all play out. Reece had me hooked into the story from the start.

I have to insert some comments here on the similarities to another book/series. There is a bit of a resemblance to Lora Leigh's ¡°Black Ops¡± series, especially the book ¡°Wildcard¡± with regard to characters being drugged, losing all sense of identity and all that. It was a pretty noticeable similarity for me. Only I thought this one was written better...more well-rounded, less issues that LL's books are known for. And since the books are published within a year or so of each other, you can't really make anything from the similarities.

On the romance front...good stuff. A bit heartbreaking because there's more than a little angst. Sometimes I just wanted to smack Ethan upside the head because he was so stubborn in his refusal to give him and Shea a chance for forever. But overall I liked Ethan. And Shea was a great character. That girl's got guts to have survived what she did. I enjoyed reading about them and their romance.

There's also a big surprise in the book. Though I must admit I was kind of expecting. I wondered if it would happen after something in the previous book and then this one, if you're thinking along the right lines, leads you further in that direction. So it wasn't a total surprise. But I loved that Reece did it. Should lead to an interesting future book.

I had two small quibbles with the story. One was a plot aspect that felt rather disjointed. There's an attempted kidnapping of two young men that's made to seem like it's supposed to be significant in some way. The attempt is foiled then its like its forgotten about until like chapters later when it gets a small reference. It just came off really weird. Initially it seems like its supposed to be more important and then its treated like a sidenote. It just didn't work right. Then there's the romantic conflict between Shea and Ethan. So predictable. You could see what was going to happen between them a mile away But honestly, I'm not sure what other way the author could have gone. So yeah...

Great series so far, though. I can't wait to start on the second trilogy (after I read two other books first). I'm looking forward to reading more about these characters and LCR.

Oh Ethan Bishop...how I love you!! This one had me up until 2 a.m. last night and it was DEFINITELY worth it!!

In Run to Me, we finally get Ethan Bishop's story...and I have been waiting to find out more about this mysterious, sexy lion of a man..hee hee. Ethan finds out that his Ex-lover and LCR operative, Shea Monroe, has turned and begun working for an LCR enemy. He does not believe that his Shea would ever turn, so he goes on a rescue mission, this one being his toughest one yet.

Shea Monroe knows nothing of her life before being captured by Donald Rosemount...on a side note...I LOVE when all the LCR guys make fun of Donald...had me cracking up...sorry...so Shea has lost all of her memories, but Ethan isn't sure if in his heart of hearts, he ever wants her to remember the past with him again. She trusts him now, is starting to look at him like the old Shea used to...what will he do when she remembers and her eyes turn cold against him again?

This one was a bit more romance than suspense, but I LOVED IT!! I couldn't wait for each new memory to surface, cause we would find out another piece of the Shea/Ethan/Cole puzzle. It was KILLING me not knowing what had happened between these two people who obviously loved each other SOOOO MUCH!!

Christy did an AMAZING job with weaving the love triangle so we had NO IDEA what happened between them in the past. Why Shea married Cole and not Ethan? Why Ethan continued to push Shea away? There was sooooo many questions and I got my answers and then some!! I loved the way Christy ended this story, the way she wrapped up all the information that we discovered, the way she made things seem one way, but really they were another way. I wish I could tell you...but I don't want to ruin the story...you need to read it yourself to find out the truth...and I will tell you...PAY ATTENTION while reading, you might just be able to pick up on certain hints...WHAT A GREAT STORY!!

Can't wait to start the next Trilogy, starting with No Chance, which is Gabe Maddox's story! Can't wait to see what's going on with sexy, cynical Gabe!!

Hope you Enjoy this series and Happy Reading!!

I've bought this book with mere coincidence without knowing anything about it , and oh my it's one of the best things I've ever read , it's beautifully written , it's full of action , drama and romance , the beautiful kind of romance btw , I didn't want to finish it and I took as much time as I could reading it and savoring every single detail in it , now I just want to read old books only and ravel in their beauty

While recovering from her ordeal and regaining her lost memory, Shea begins to fall for Ethan. But the treachery and tragedies of the past won¡¯t leave either of them alone. And from Mexico, a monster has sent his foot soldiers to seize Shea¨Cusing a weapon beyond anyone¡¯s worst nightmare.
What I liked
After reading Return to Me I really didn't think anything could top Noah's story. I was wrong! The story of Ethan was just as good if not better. The intensity between him and Shea only grew the more you learned about their story which had many twists and turns. I couldn't put this book down and devoured it in one day.
What I didn't like
Much like the second book in this series, there isn't anything I didn't like. I look forward to reading more of this series soon.

An excellent plot and storyline. Shea Monroe goes deep cover to avenge the death of her husband but ends up walking into a trap and not finding her way out. Ethan Bishop has been contacted by LCR, the organization he hasn't worked for for a year, to find her and rescue her if she is in danger. When he does find her, Shea seems to have no memory of who she is, and who Ethan is either. She fights him every step of the way, attempting to escape from him and go back to her 'Master'. Ethan manages to bring her back to a private LCR clinic to find out what's wrong with her memory.

This is an endearing story filled with love, desire, suspense, adventure, and sexy romance. I loved reading every page and every word, especially when we see how Shea gains more memory, and those of Ethan. We see them slowly falling in love with each other again and it's very cute. The evil villain tries to get his kitten back, but without success. It was pretty obvious to me who the dark haired, smoky blue eyed 'creature' was, and it was confirmed in the end, where all the fun stuff happens. I enjoyed reading this as much as Rescue Me, the first installment in this Last Chance Rescue trilogy, and I'm sure everyone else will too. I look forward to reading Gabe's story next. This book is recommended. 4.5/5 stars.

I enjoyed this one, but it was my least favorite of the Trilogy. It's hard for me to swallow characters that swear for 98% of the book that they can't give their lover what they: need, deserve, want or some variation of how they aren't worthy and deserve to be punished yet they are noble and full of honor in every other aspect. Except when it comes to the woman that loves them... then since he's trying to "save her" from himself he has carte blanche to be a prick. It's wildly frustrating.

BUT, the plot was great. Complete with crazy, evil, obsessive nemesis... mind erasing drugs, a few awesome twist (one that I barely saw coming), and as always is my favorite a cameo from previous characters that I loved.

Overall, entertaining. I just wanted to punch a few of the men in the mouth... but I suppose that's to be expected with most men. ;)

So, that's it! That's the last book of this series I have read. I won't go on this series because I don't like it. I went on the first 3 books just to be sure! ;)

And this last book has been the last straw. Page after page of violence, murder, whipping, mental abuse and just ugliness :(

This is the thing I liked less, there is no hope in those books. There is not a moment of happiness, no humour, no temporary relief. Even when our heroes/heroines are not mentally raped, tortured or simply put in danger, they never laugh, never even smile. Well, there is not to laugh or smile, truth to be told!

Besides, at the beginning of almost every chapter, we are to endure some pages of really torture or abuse, just not to forget what are we doing here...

No, I cannot resist anymore. This is the book where I and Christy Reece are parting ways.

When Last Chance Rescue operative Shea Monroe goes deep undercover vowing to find the man who killed her husband, she is captured and given mind altering drugs. But then she is rescued by her ex-lover, Ethan Bishop, a former LCR agent. Shea is drawn to Ethan even though she has no memory of him and their past. Ethan will do anything to help Shea recover, but he cannot allow his feelings for her to resurface.

I didn't like this book as much as the first two in the series. It wasn't a bad book, but there was too much time was spent on scenes with the villain and his nefarious plans. The story was also slowed down by Shea's slow recovery. I would have like to have seen more action scenes. But Christy Reece has a writing style that I like. And, both the hero and heroine were interesting characters I kept rooting for. My rating: 4 Stars.

4.5 stars, so rounding up to 5 stars.

There are two slight downers here:

(1) I hope the "I'm not good enough for her, ever..." theme stops being repeated before it becomes an ad nauseam thing. My only complaint about Ethan.

(2) It was patently obvious who the unnamed character was from the first mention. Maybe that was OK, and maybe the author expected her readers to catch this early on in the reading, though.

Having said this, I'm really glad to be reading this series. Christy Reece can write, which is a real bonus for her readers. We don't get hung up on typos and wrong words.

If you like the Romantic Suspense genre, give this series a try. This book could be read alone, but your reading will be enhanced if you get the background on the characters (main and others) in the first two books.

This boo was much better than the previous two. If I hadn't been given the whole set, I would not have read past book one. This book didn't have the immature writing that the first two books suffered from, although the story was still a little unreal to me. I did like Ethan more than the previous male leads. Will definitely read the next book, in time, and hope they continue to develop, as the premise of these books interest me.

3 stars.

I had difficulty finishing this one. I fully understand that the whole premise of LCR revolved around operatives overcoming personal tragedies and damaged lives to rescue the innocents but it's just all so depressing. What happened to Shea is so extreme that I have a hard time reading through it all.

This is probably one series that I can only take in short doses in between lighter fares.

I think I'm being generous giving this 3*. I wasn't impressed with the writing or the plot, and didn't feel the angst. The "mind control" drug felt like a 1950's sci-fi flashback. Gabe's self-hated was too much and didn't feel real. Mostly the writing was simplistic, but I did enjoy some of the action scenes and the descriptions of the Tennessee countryside are nice.

Cracking series!!!

I have already downloaded the next in the series as I simply have to know what happens next. For me, that gives no greater praise and recommendation!! This is a great series that has incredible characters that do not spout love and commitment to the extent that they resemble no other 'man' on Earth! The characters are so beautifully flawed that you feel as if you are a fly on the wall observing in real time as opposed to being a reader curled up in bed with a dog and a glass of Baileys as your chosen companions!! I cannot praise this series well enough!! Simply brilliant and highly addictive!!

Third in the Last Chance Rescue romance suspense series revolving around the operatives of Last Chance Rescue (LCR) based in Paris and operating all over the world. The couple focus is on Ethan Bishop and Shea Monroe.

My Take
What kind of man actually wants to surround himself with robots? Rosemount actually misses having someone around to listen to him prattle on about his day and worship him without judgment. To curl up and be his pet. To have no meaningful conversation. Yuck.

It's certainly a lesson in making sure that someone knows where are you going and what your plans are...you know, backup. Whether it's for the next few hours or the next few weeks.

Sometimes I wonder how we survive as a race. All the guilt some take on when it isn't deserved. The guilt some never feel. The cruelties some will practice on others balanced by the decency of still others. It's interesting that the minority who hurt people have a greater impact on the world than the decency practiced by the majority.

Poor Donald. His kitten is missing and he isn't getting the attention he craves. Business will suffer for a bit. Poor Donald. I'd like to stitch him up with an AK and watch him die very slowly...poor Donald. The creepy little schmuck.

Okay, Shea is irritating me. Sure, I can understand her frustration with not being allowed out for fear of Rosemount finding and taking her again. Which is why I do NOT understand why she keeps insisting on being allowed out anyway. Hullo! Even if it takes a year, wouldn't it be safer to simply view the restrictions as a vacation? An opportunity to reconnect with friends. To simply enjoy having a life in which you can make at least some free choices? Okay, so she doesn't get to go to the mall...big whoop. Is it worth a trip to Starbucks or a restaurant to being imprisoned and having your entire self subjugated?? Can anyone say NetFlix, Skype, Internet, delivery??

Whoa...that was unexpected. Cole and Shea's marriage. The truth behind it.

Rosemount is just weird. It's like he's collecting his own zoo except that he wants perfect specimens of zombie-like men and women. I think he's still trying to gain power over his parents by putting everyone in his power.

Snicker...Rosemount has surrounded himself with robot zombies for too long. He's forgotten that real people think, feel independently.

And we're being set up for Cole's prospective romance...

The Story
Only, Rosemount gets the drop on Shea. She's tied down to a bed, tortured, injected daily with a drug designed to eliminate free will and emotions. It's the surveillance cameras in shopping malls and streets that find her. Bring her to Noah's attention.

Shea has been turned. She's one of the bad guys kidnapping people. The last person anyone would have thought to go bad. And Noah's hoping that she is only in deep cover. A chance to kill two birds with one stone by getting Ethan Bishop to go after her. Rescue her.

Rescue two birds with one stone.

The Characters
Ethan Bishop has quit Last Chance Rescue and isolated himself on his Tennessee retreat. Between the drunk-driving accident that resulted in prison time, the death of the woman he loved, his own injuries, the loss of his sports career, and shoving Shea away from him, Ethan is a mess.

After Cole's death, Shea Monroe shut down, but now she's back and she wants revenge for his death. She wants to take down the man behind it all.

Cole Mathison died in an explosion on the last op Ethan led. Now he's reborn as other.

Noah McCall heads up Last Chance Rescue. He's married now to Samara and she's pregnant. Agents include Gabriel Maddox who has just discovered his ex is still his wife as she never signed the divorce papers and Jamie, a young recruit with a big ego in the outer circle.

Dr. Lawrence Norton is one "of LCR's leading physicians" and he's in charge of Shea's recovery. Of her health, her free will, her emotions, and her memories. Dr. Karen Greyson is attempting to use hypnosis to access Shea's evaporating memories. Jolene is a nurse at the LCR medical facility where Shea is being cared for.

Donald Rosemount is a pissy little man whose high IQ makes him think he's above everyone else. He sells people, kidnaps to order, and finances research into drugs that control people to the point that they have no free will, no memory. He gets his sexual jollies from watching people being hurt or killed. He's a child who has never matured into a real man. Victor is one of his men. Trained to know his place. Raphael is a new recruit who is not quite trained to absolute obedience. Dr. Richard Kline was censured for conducting unauthorized experiments; now, he's working for Rosemount on his drugs.

Maybe instead of censure, doctors and scientists like him need an e-leash¡ Or, maybe we could exile all people like him, people who like to hurt others on their own island and they can all play with each other instead of preying on the innocent.

The Cover
The cover is a burgundy chiffon ripped in a shallow V to reveal a very dark red silhouette of a couple looking into each other's eyes against a light red background. The title is also in red glowing in white.

The title is Ethan's dream of Shea. He wants her back. He wants her to Run to Me.

It's hard to describe my feelings towards this book. I like the premise, the plot and the characters but I don't like the way the story flows, how the villain and his crimes faded into background when Shea try to collect her memories and when Shea did regain her memories, the things she did under drugs also meant nothing compared to her personal past. I don't like how easy Shea accepted her wrongdoing and how tolerant she is towards Ethan, something she can't do in the past. Maybe people do change, but this one is a drastic change
