This review is only for "Heaven Can't Wait" by Pamela Clare.
Wow! What a surprising little gem this was! I've had this book for what seems like forever (since I've been reading PC's "I-Team" series) but kept forgetting to pick it up and read it. Now that I noticed it's currently available as an ebook and read a brief synopsis on what it was about (and the fact that some characters from the "I-Team" series make an appearance) I decided to give it a try. And I'm sooo glad I did! This was one scorching hot little contemporary!
It features Lissy Charteris and Will Fraser, both employees of the same newspaper, the Denver Independent. Lissy's the features editor and Will is a sports columnist as well as a TV sports commentator. Lissy comes from money but had an unhappy childhood with parents who were miserable together. Will was raised by a single mother who worked as a waitress and grew up in poverty. Will had a lucrative future ahead of him as a pro football player until getting injured late in his college career. At first, due to Lissy's preconceived notions about Will as a brainless jock, they fail to click. But later, after Lissy suffers an injury and Will takes care of her, she begins to see him in a different light. And after one date the sexual chemistry between the two of them ignites, and they become an inseparable couple heading for marriage. The wedding is two weeks away, and all is right in their world, until Lissy's sourpuss mother decides to butt in, putting doubts in Lissy's head about Will. Lissy wonders if they're getting married because they're mistaking great sex for love.
Lissy comes up with a plan that morphs into a bet between the two--no sex for the next two weeks leading up to their marriage. This should prove if they have more between the two of them than just an out-of-this-world sex life, right?
At first the bet is fun, and each of them tries to seduce the other into "losing" the bet. Will takes every opportunity to walk around naked in front of Lissy, and Lissy retaliates with "reverse strip shows" in front of Will. Then there's the Scrabble game with a twist that they play...All of it's in good fun until Lissy's mother arrives a few days before the wedding, and causes more trouble between the formerly "happy" couple. Will it take a near tragedy to get this couple back on the right track and to realize there was nothing wrong with their relationship in the first place?
I loved this little (89 page) story. PC managed to cover a lot of ground, giving a thorough backstory for the couple, and laid out a pretty simple, fun plot. I loved both Lissy and Will, loved meeting up with most of the characters from the previous books (the story takes place between and ), loved the humor in the story, and loved the sexual chemistry that Will and Lissy had--they were one hawt couple. My God, the very first paragraph of the book...whew!
Fans of Pamela Clare's I-Team series, you'll want to get your hands on this book or the ebook. For those who enjoy a short, hot contemporary but have never read anything by PC--I think you'll enjoy this one too. It's well-written, fast paced, and gives you a great look at PC's writing style. I don't know if I'm imagining this or what, but I think this might be PC's hottest story I've read yet! 5 stars.

Bought specifically for Pamela Clare's "Heaven Can't Wait" which is, as all her others, superb and worth 5 stars. Overall, the other stories were just so-so. Cathie Linz does a nice job and I enjoyed her "Brides Gone Wild."

Four short stories rated from 3 ½ to 2 stars. Contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and chick lit.
3 stars for BRIDES GONE WILD by Cathie Linz.
This was ok, nothing special. Some parts were a little too slapstick for me. Pam and Michael dated in high school. Michael left for the big city, is doing well, but not ready for marriage. At their ten-year high school reunion, he and Pam had sex. He left with no further contact. Now he comes to town for a wedding. Pam doesn’t want to connect with him and be rejected again. But they still desire each other.

Lissy and Will are madly in love with a great sex life. Their wedding is two weeks away. Lissy’s mother Christa married for money and Lissy’s dad cheated on her. Now Christa is causing Lissy to have doubts about Will, saying he only wants her for her money and sex. So Lissy asks Will to abstain from sex for the next two weeks to see how they get along. Most of the story is those two weeks. They are frustrated and on edge. They become remote and silent to each other. There is a happy ending, but the plot was not entertaining.

3 ½ stars for SO CAUGHT UP IN YOU by Beverly Brandt.
Quinn runs a hotel for tourists wanting extreme vacations in a jungle area. The location is a central American country with a bad dictator and secret police. Celie is having her wedding there. Celie’s sister Tasha is an investigative reporter from southern Florida. Tasha is worried about Celie’s safety and plans to protect Celie from everything bad. Tasha thinks Quinn is in the white slavery business.
This was good. It’s romantic suspense with Tasha and Quinn attracted to each other while trying to outsmart and survive some bad guys. It’s a complete story which surprised me for a short story. There is one sex scene I thought was cute. That’s a strange word for sex, but I liked the scene. The story was formulaic with typical characters, but I’m interested enough to try another of her books. I’m curious why she hasn’t published anything since 2006. She also writes under the name Jacey Ford.

This is more chick lit than romance, but there is a romantic element. I don’t want to say more because it would give away something good. It was ok as a story. There are two main parts.
Meg broke up with Mason 16 months ago. Now they see each on three weekends for a friend’s wedding. The engagement party, the bachelor/bachelorette parties, and the wedding. Meg had bad luck dating and is now thinking Mason wasn’t so bad after all. She’d like to give it another try. This part of the story was thoughtful - how we talk ourselves into something that may or may not be a good answer.
The second part was Meg interacting with the unpleasant group of bridesmaids and unfortunate events during the three weekends.
That might have taken it to 4 stars for me.

Four short stories put together into an anthology. All revolve around a wedding, either their own or someone close to them.
The first is Brides Gone Wild by Cathy Linz. A reunion story that was okay. Maybe about 3 stars for me.
Second story was Heaven Can Wait by Pamela Clare. The reason I bought the book in the first place. The couple make a bet not to have sex with each other before their wedding which is two weeks away. Funny. I give it 4 stars.
The third story was So Caught Up In You by Beverly Brandt. Heroine is the bride's sister and the hero is the wedding planner. It wasn't bad. I give it 3 1/2 stars.
The fourth and last story was The Wedding Party by Whitney Lyles. My least favorite of the four. It could have been better if the couple had more page time to develop their relationship. Barely 3 stars.

She had hooked up with Michael Denton every time he strolled through town and she fell for it every time, it was such an awesome night.
Now the bridal magazine is doing a story on her designs and it has come out that Michael is gay and finds out Pam is the one who said it.
Her assistant Jessica has updated her web site with all kinds of local information...
Love how Pam handles all the mishaps, too funny!
He had wrote a book about how to hook a husband and left a copy on Pam's desk but she didn't do anything in the book.

Tasha, an investigative reporter is there to find out what happened to a couple that had just gotten married, they had disappeared into thin air.
Her sister had left with the wedding planner on the zipline from the hotel roof.
She helps him come up with a plan to throw them off from the men looking for their boss, who was a dead man.
Later Quinn sits in the bar with Tasha and her sister and tells them how he helped some escape on his senior trip for spring break.
The wedding does take place with a twist...

She's now on her way to Mexico for a girls only weekend and she gets stuck with other bridesmaids but she'd rather be in the other car...
Unforeseen things happen when she leaves the resort early with Mason to head back to the states...

This was a collection of four short stories, tied together as they all have something to do with weddings. In order of preference:
Heaven Can't Wait, by Pamela Clare (4 stars)
This is #1.5 in the I-Team series, and it's interesting to read a non-romantic-suspense story involving those characters. (Although, I do have to be honest that I was wondering how it was going to work to have each of those reporters, investigative though they may be, become a part of a believable life-in-jeopardy story without too much repetition. I love that Pamela Clare handled Lissy's story in this way. I just wish I had read it in order so that I could appropriately appreciate Lissy and Will in I-Team #2.) It was also refreshing to read about a committed couple in a healthy and realistic relationship. Yes, there is the conceit that Lissy comes up with, but I loved how Will understood what she was going through, even if she didn't. O.k., full disclosure, I just loved Will.
Brides Gone Wild, Cathie Linz (3.75 stars)
This story seemed a little old-school, but it was enjoyable. There were some laugh out loud moments, and I liked how Pam and Michael related to each other. It wasn't my most favorite short story I've ever read, but I liked it enough to look up other books from this author.
So Caught Up In You, Beverly Brandt (3.5 stars)
This story gave me whiplash. It started out lighthearted but was then about... human trafficking? And Tasha goes to the wedding to look after her sister and immediately senses what is going on and what she needs to do to help save people? By exchanging meaningful looks with the wedding planner/[alleged] human trafficker/ ? Oh, and I still don't get how the monkey did it. Despite all of this plus the Weekend at Bernie's flashbacks (that doesn't do much for the whole romance aspect of the story, I have to say), I was entertained. In reading one of the reviews I got the sense that the author threw in a whole lot of things that are done more exclusively in longer books. And I think that I might be o.k. with the romantic suspense if it didn't come along with the slapstick humor. So it's only 3.5 stars, but I do think I'll look this author up again.

My two cents:
Brides Gone Wild - Cathie Linz - too sexual, trying too hard to make you horny
Heaven Can't Wait - Pamela Clare - sexual, but quite romantic
So Caught Up In You - Beverly Brandt - toned down the sex part a bit
The Wedding Party - Whitney Lyles - more sensible - my favourite among the rest.
The Wedding Party story is closer to real life - more believable and more realistic. It's about a woman who, after breaking up with her boyfriend for one year, beginning to realize that she is still in love with him. Staying apart has made her forget about her ex's negative traits and attributes, and thus led her into thinking that he's someone she'd like to spend the rest of her life with.
That feeling was true until she spent a night with him after a bacholerette party. She began to remember what was it that made her broke up with him at the first place.
This particular story is not something that will leave you feeling happy and high on cloud nine. It encourages us women to be rational and let your mind guide you first, rather than your heart alone.

The Wedding Party story is closer to real life - more believable and more realistic. It's about a woman who, after breaking up with her boyfriend for one year, beginning to realize that she is still in love with him. Staying apart has made her forget about her ex's negative traits and attributes, and thus led her into thinking that he's someone she'd like to spend the rest of her life with.
That feeling was true until she spent a night with him after a bacholerette party. She began to remember what was it that made her broke up with him at the first place.
This particular story is not something that will leave you feeling happy and high on cloud nine. It encourages us women to be rational and let your mind guide you first, rather than your heart alone.

This book is an anthology with four contemporary romances. I bought it for the Pamela Clare story and didn't read the others.
Heaven Can't Wait - Pamela Clare. It's just two weeks until Lissy Chartiers and Will Fraser tie the knot. But Lissy's mother still believes Will just wants her daughter for her money and keeps asking them to sign a pre-nup. She tells her daughter that she is confusing good sex with love. So, Lissy makes a bet with Will that can't wait until after marriage to resume their sex life. Will never passes up a bet, but soon finds being around Lissy and not touching her is driving him crazy. He starts coming up with creative ways to get Lissy back in his bed.
This was an amusing story. Lissy and Will telling their friends about the bet is hilarious. If you're a reader of Clare's I-team series, you'll notice that those characters are members of the wedding party. My rating: 4 Stars.

I usually dislike buying Anthologies. There's usually only 1 good story out of the group and not enough substance to thoroughly entertain, as was the case in this book. I bought it because I love Pamela Clare. This was another addition to her I-Team series, a novella about Lissa and Will. If you've read her series this novella fits in just after her first book about Reece and Kara. LOVE THIS SERIES. Her contribution was a solid 4.5 stars. So for me this story was worth the buy, can't say the same for the other stories. Found myself skimming just to get to the end. Have never read any of the other authors here, but can say nothing stirred me enough to want to investigate further. Even though I classified this series as romance, the I-Team Series is definitely falls into the romantic suspense category.

Wedding anthology. Couldn't quite get through all of them--they just didn't seem to work for me. The Linz one, the first, was too much slapstick and too little romance. The next one had some nice romance, but was a little too wrapped around sex to suit me, though I'm sure many readers will see that as a plus. The third tried to mix humor with suspense, not to much success, IMO. But the story was still decent. The last story is a bad bridesmaid party mixed with "getting the ex back," and I just can't get into it. It seems to be mostly "humiliate the heroine" time and I just can't read that, even if it all turns out fine in the end. So... It's an okay read. Not my fave.

This was a collection of four short stories by "chick lit" authors. Overall, the stories were entertaining and cute although the first two stories relied a little too much on the "sex" angle for my tastes. I definitely liked "The Wedding Party" by Whitney Lyles the best, which isn't surprising considering that the books of hers that I read and enjoyed were the reason that I read this collection in the first place.

catch of the day was a little too raunchy for my taste. no where on the back cover does it incline that this book would be smutt, but that is basically what it is, with a few interesting story lines thrown in here and there. if you're into those fabio cover model novels, you would probably enjoy this book. i just prefer something with a bit more substance.

May 25, 2016This is a cute story, set in the same town as Good Girls Do. The heroine is a wedding floral designer in a small town, and her ex returns to town for one of the five weddings on one weekend, and everything's going wrong. I had trouble believing a small town could support a florist that only does weddings, and it didn't have the depth of her full-length book, but it was still fun to read.

I ordered this book because Whitney Lyles is one of my favorite authors. I did not realize it was four short stories by four different authors (one by Whitney Lyles). I enjoyed all four stories and was disappointed when even story ended. I wish each was a full novel!

This review is only for Pamela Clare's story. It was a fun story with Lissy and Will. I found their bet to be fun, especially when they up the stakes and try to get the other to break and their friends chime in too. The end when they each learned just what was important was the best part.

Ugh. First story (Cathie Linz, "Brides Gone Wild") was okay, second story (Pamela Clare, "Heaven Can't Wait") was okay, third story (Beverly Brandt, "So Caught Up in You") was okay, fourth story (Whitney Lyles, "The Wedding Party") was not.

'So Caught Up In You' was a grand little adventure! I would love to read more of Quin & Tasha's adventures!
