Dreary Shadows

Dreary Shadows Part Two

Rate this book
Dreary Shadows is like a coffin, slowly suffocating me as my battered heart tries to heal.

The Shadow Brothers ripped my heart out when they vanished, and I was slowly dying with each passing day.

I wasn’t being dramatic, I was actually dying.

I guess that’s what happens when you’re bonded to a vampire who bails on you.

When two new vampires come to town, it’s no surprise.

Many have passed through to drain me for my magical blood, but these two are different.

One is sweet, the other completely insane.

Nothing could make the Shadow Brothers come home faster, quite like sensing me being fed on.

The truth of my past has come back to smack me in the face with full force, surrounding us with new challenges and enemies.

My mother graces me with her unwanted presence, I go from one blood bond to four, and my powers are more of a hazard than a gift.

The scary part? This is only the beginning.

A year after the Shadow brothers left Lilith Maverick and Dreary Shadows Academy, the fae witch has spent her time studying how to control her newfound powers.

Despite having befriended two savage wolves, Ezra Fowler and Blade Vanderwood, the town is crawling with supernatural creatures who’d love nothing more than to taste Lilith.

Dreary Shadows Part II takes a number of unexpected twists and turns. I loved the details we learn about Lilith’s witchy lineage and the history of the various supernatural creatures. Each member of the harem is unique and I enjoy their perspectives, not to mention the introduction of Zeus and the certifiable Gunnar.

I was expecting another brutal cliffy, but it’s not. That said, I am still on the edge of my seat waiting to see how Lil’s story is going to come together.

Sadly, only 3 stars for this one

I loved the 1st book. Read it in one sitting cause it consumed every part of me. So I hate that I’m having to give this one 3 stars. Why? Gunnar and Zeus. Mainly Gunnar though. And I usually like the psychos the most! He just rubs me the wrong way. I’m only getting “I just want your blood vibes. It doesn’t seem like he actually cares for her in a romantic sense. To be honest, I don’t know if I will be continuing this series, which has only ever happened once before. I wish it would have just stayed with the boys from book 1. I would probably be giving it 5 stars if that were the case. But it was like out of nowhere she threw in 2 new guys and I’m not feeling the connection between them AT ALL other than blood lust. That’s not love or romantic. I don’t even know if I would want them to be friends. I don’t like Gunnar that much. I struggled between 2-3 stars. Went with 3 because of the original harem. The spontaneous new guys have just ruined this series for me, and I really hate that since I loved the 1st one so much. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Had such high hopes for this book.

Horrible. The first one was ok. Lilith was a badass. She took no shit. But she quickly became a little b*tch. I know. That's harsh but there is no other way to describe it. I read the second because I wanted to see if it got better. I like the idea of her with the original vamps. Seb, Cain, chaos. Emmet. And Ezra but they left at the end of book one and I thought it had the potential to be really great but of course she ends up meeting 2 other vamps and then bonds with one by force and forgives him the very next second. She strings along two werewolves and I just feel bad for them.

No to mention the guys leave for a f*cking year and then she jumps right into bed with sebastion and "accidently" bonds with Emmitt. Like come on. All these accidental bonds is annoying and really downplays they bond that was forming with all of them. It really takes away from the dynamic. Now she just acts stupid, impulsive, whiny and annoying. I can't handle her or the story anymore. There is no redeeming qualities. It's ruined which sucks because it had the capa ity to be great.

What sucks even worse is how a badass fmc became a weak ass woman. Really sucks to see that.

DzԻ

A year after the Shadow brothers left Dreary Shadows we find Lilith suffering from being away from her bonded Cain. She’s hurting not just emotionally but physically too. When two new vampires(Zeus and Gunnar) come to town with a remedy to her physical pain she’s angry enough with Cain to let the craziest one Gunnar bite her to relieve some of that pain. Which leads to the return of the Shadow brothers.
This book brought some answers to Lilith and her heritage but brought a whole bunch more questions that I hope will be answered in the next book.
This one was steamy with the Shadow brothers returning and the addition of Zeus and Gunnar. Lilith is one lucky lady maybe 7 vampires and one human that’s a fae witch there may not be enough of Lilith to go around with these blood thirsty vampires.
I had hopes that her wolf besties Blaze and Ezra would become more during this book but it seems they are destined for just the friendzone. Too bad cause Lilith could use their body heat for snuggles in that drafty castle.

R.E. Bond has done it again! She has created another masterpiece and I am OBSESSED.

This book takes place after a year of the guys being gone and Lilith is trying to cope (though it’s hard.) At least she has Ezra and Blaze.

I honestly can’t say anymore without spoiling, so all I’ll say is that you NEED to read this series right now. I highly recommend!

I was so excited to continue with this story and it did not disappointed! All the spice we were missing in book one was more than rectified here and man did these characters make up for all of the previously missed opportunities, it was so dang hot and I know that we still have a bit more to go! 🥵 I do wish that there had been more groveling on the guys' part or that Lilith had held out a bit longer before forgiving them but since the book itself is on the shorter side there could only be so many pages before they all eventually reconciled. I also think the plot was a bit more slow moving compared to the first one to accommodate all of the highly anticipated spice which I was completely ok with, just something I figured I would mention.

When it comes to the writing, I loved that the author began to introduce more supernatural creatures and expand the world building beyond just Dreary Shadows! This is more of a side note/manifestation but I really hope we'll someday get a story that revolves around the first three vampires who were turned all those years ago because I feel that would make for a great spin off! I also know that this story was originally supposed to be completed in two parts but as I read I had a feeling that we would need some more books to wrap everything up nicely and I am both happy and sad to be right! 🥹 Sad because I don't wanna wait for the next two books but happy because I definitely wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters yet! And with where we left off just before the end, I already know that things are about to get a lot more interesting! 👀

I struggled with book 2. I wanted to continue on with the story so badly but I had issues with the execution of this one.

1. Never have I said more males would be a problem. But problem it was. I feel like it shifts the dynamic of the story too much because there wasn’t real compensation by giving them time to emotionally bond better

Then the addition of some non-con that Lilith should have been way more upset about compared to the reaction she had to less severe offenses just killed the enjoyment for me. She was so strong willed in book 1 and now she lets this vamp force himself on her whenever and then the blood makes her compliant to its will just doesn’t fit.

FMC also keeps repeating how she doesn’t even like sex but then is all horned up because of the blood and that ruins the romantic aspect. That’s perfectly normal and shouldn’t then be forced by blood or hormones.

How am I supposed to cheer on their bonds if she’s being driven by an outside force? There was only one or two lines saying she wanted a guy separate from the blood. Which is not enough to salvage an authentic relationship for me.

I know it might just be unclear writing that she simply needed to add clarification that Lilith does want them only. But why write it in a way that seems like she doesn’t like sex AT ALL and is now being compelled to have it all the time. Seems strange.

I might read the next installment but be warned that tone and character development shift DRASTICALLY!

The beginning was a bit rocky for me, I guess "cheating" doesn't exist when it comes to paranormal romance, and yeah this is RH so that's that...

I still enjoyed reading this, and my sentiments do not take away the good storytelling and interesting plotline. I can't wait to read the next book! 🖤😍🔥

After reading Dreary Shadows Part One, R.E. Bond had me looking forward to Dreary Shadows Part Two given the cliffhanger it ended on.
Told through multiple POVs, the story picks up a year after the events of Dreary Shadows Part One.

The storyline seemed to focus heavily on Lilith and her relationships, new and old. All due to what goes down when the Shadows Brothers consisting of Chaos, Enzo, Cain, Sebastian and Emmett return and end up under the same roof as newbie vampires Zeus and Gunnar.
Ultimately leading to chaotic drama to ensue, one because of Lilith's newly discovered powers. Something that isn’t easy for her control and made all the more harder to deal with when trying to juggle the multiple bonds she finds herself apart of with multiple vampires. Especially when emotions get involved leading to some wild, crazy and hectic situations. Which made for some entertaining moments that had you laughing.

The emotions that Rachael explored through the different characters had you feeling what exactly some of them were going through and dealing with. Other than just reading about it through their POVs.
Lilith had me feeling sorry for her to see her endure pain and heartache from the suffering she was living through. Which made me feel bad for her.
At the same time she did have me feeling annoyed and frustrated by her too.
Firstly because of her treatment of her best friends Ezra and Blade, the guys who had been there for her when the Shadow Brothers left her.
And secondly her naivety, which led to stupidity from a lot of poor decisions being made on her part.
The fact of the matter is her decisions paved way for a lot of childish behaviour. It felt like she was a petulant child with her tantrums and being so reckless and irresponsible. Despite knowing what she was doing was wrong and would lead to trouble. As if she was too blind to see what was in front of her eyes.

While the story did have bits and pieces to help continuing building the narrative. It still felt there was still a lot missing when it came to bringing forward a deeper in-depth exploration of the storyline. And that was on top of the lack of any real development being made with the narrative in order to allow progress to be made from the overall story IMO. At least not until closer to the end.
A majority of the storyline equalling to about 80-90% focused on the steam, having the book revolve around Lilith and her need to be with each of the guys. Which may have been understandably so, since it did play a fairly decent size part in the series plot given her situation.
However the focus being majorly on a lot of steam and blood due to the bonds is what caused a lot of repetition to occur.
Watching Lilith and each of the vampires spend time together showcased the lack of depth in the relationship she shared with some of them. Making it hard to know if there really was a true bond between some of them other than the fiery heat they shared and blood lust.

Despite my issues, Dreary Shadows Part Two still managed to keep me hanging on. Which is why Rachael still has me looking forward to Part Three to see what will occur and how the finale to the series will play out.

HOLY CRAP, WE ARE GETTING A PART 3!!! This was originally planned to be a duet, but there's so much more RE Bond is going to spoil us with! (Don't judge me, I totally forgot about the announcement 😬🤭)

Dreary Shadows pt. 2 takes place a year after Shadow brothers left Lilith high and dry. She has been struggling with the effects of the bond both Emotionally and physically. On the bright side, she learns how to wield and control her newly found powers. Of course, the addition of two more men, Zeus and Gunner...OMG!!! In this dark town, dangers lurk in the shadows and want a piece of Lilith.

I always get excited when a new RE Bond book ends up on my kindle app. She is one of my favorite authors THAT CAN LITERALLY WRITE ANYTHING! I have became emotionally invested in this series (just like all of her other books)and was so mad when the Shadow Brothers left and crushed Lilith's heart. But when they returned We got to learn more about Lilith and where she comes from. This is such a wonderfully written, full of twists and turns, hoooot smexy times. Ezra and Blaze are still one of my favorite side characters...I was hoping for Lilith to have some wolfy love, but 7 vampires is also not bad at all 😏! I wouldn't complain at all. Soooo can't wait for the final book in the trilogy!!

Well, I think I'm done with this series.

I was thinking about putting it on hold, but now I don't see myself picking it up again anytime soon.
Look, I don't have a problem with sex scenes in my books, but I also want a good story to go with them. Unfortunately, in this series, I felt like the focus was more on that than the actual plot.

What to expect:
 Vampires, witches, shapeshifters
 FMC with an attitude problem
 Alphaholes as love interests
 M/M Romance scenes
Tropes:
 Reverse Harem
 Enemies to Lovers
 Insta-Love/Lust

After the first book set the stage for the story, I was hoping that the second book would build on that foundation and offer more in terms of plot development. But instead, what I got was a continuation of the focus on the protagonist's romantic relationships, with more vampires joining her harem and lots of steamy scenes. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mind those scenes, but I just didn't feel like there was enough substance to the plot to keep me interested.
Also, there were suddenly more vampires joining the protagonist's harem, and it felt like it came out of nowhere.

I was hoping for more exploration of the world, but instead, I got more of the same. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the book, and I doubt I'll be continuing with the series anytime soon.

This PNR series is getting even better the more we get from it. Bond has managed to make Dreary Shadows a place I wouldn’t mind living in. We see how Lilith has been dealing with the absence of the Shadow Brothers. The physical, mental and emotional pain that she is going through. She has her wolves there to support and protect her, but will it be enough? Plus two more vamps have their eyes on Lil. How will Lil deal with them and the Shadow Brothers? Bond takes us on a journey through all the twists and turns that happen in Lil’s life. Lil has to learn how to control her powers and try to figure out everything else that is going on in her life. The steam is always present in a Bond book and she doesn’t disappoint with this one. The plot is so intricate that you don’t realize you are reading about something that will play a major role in the end. I can’t wait to get more of the Shadow Brothers, Lil, and the rest of the characters in this series.

It's been SO exciting to read and wait for these books so far, I know we're only 2 deep but the statement stands, and seeing this paranormal debut unfold has been awesome! I was blown away with part one and knew part 2 would be even more amazing. We're never let down.

It was a pleasant surprise getting some newbies thrown in! Chaos is still my favorite. But I'm always open to more fantastic characters. Speaking of...the mother. I have words. She's a real...jerk. I LOVED getting more backstory, it really sucks you into the characters and makes the book come alive.

Lilith did frustrate me at times, but that's because she's written perfectly. Her story so far has been phenomenal and I'm chomping to see where she ends up in this freaktastic little world. Big revelations, bigger questions. I'm just so stoked for part 3!! 😍🖤

It’s been a year since the guys left to find a witch to lift the curse off Cain.
Meanwhile Ezra and Blade, the werewolves, have been living with her to protect her from a ton of vamps that have shown up after hearing about her.
She’s trying to figure out her powers that came in once the guys left.
She’s made friends with a vamp bar owner named Theo. While at the bar one night she meets two new vamps, Zeus and Gunnar. Zeus is a sweetheart. Gunnar, while hilarious, has a serious lack of control and I want to smack him upside the head a lot.
The guys return when Cain senses Gunnar losing control with Lilith.
Everyone can sense bad times coming. The next book should be a ride.

Dreary Shadows Part Two by R.E. Bond is a reverse harem paranormal romance. This is the second book in the Dreary Shadows Trilogy.

I love Rachel's books! I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't help but binge the book in one sitting. The chemistry between Lilith, Chaos, Lorenzo, Cain, Sebastian, Emmett, Gunnar, and Zeus if off the charts!

If you are looking for a steamy paranormal romance, I would recommend this book.

Make me a blood slut because this book is full of smutty vampire goodness. Part two did NOT hold back on the spice level even while furthering the story. We learn about Lilith being an elemental witch and her heritage as well as more of some of the boys stories. Each one of these vamps is slowly crawling their way under my skin just like they are Lilith's. She can't resist being around them and is drawn to each one in a different way. I can already tell part three is going to be bananas!

This book was really good after reading book one I wanted more of Lilith. The intro to the new characters was good as well. I am one who likes a little more groveling lol 😆 I think them boys should of had work for that!
The spice and bloody content were taken up a notch in this one and that I don’t mind at all.
I also enjoyed more of the backgrounds we gotten.
Defiantly worth the Read!

I like that for once a book mid series didn't end in a cliffhanger. I can calmly finish the book. Go to sleep. And then calmly start the next book at a decent hour the next day. Instead of having something dramatic and life threatening happen right at the end and torture me through the night with thoughts of "one more chapter, one more chapter" and then the sun is up with not a wink or hint of REM in the bank.

This book had glorious, glorious, smexy time. 'Twas wonderful. The time skip caught me way off guard, though, and staying away as long as they did was incredibly stupid of them. I can't believe none of them wanted to do it, but did it anyway. Idiots.

Also, her relationship with Ezra and Blade is so very confusing. I love Blade and wanted him in the Harem, but he is strictly in the friend zone with Lillith, and also, it would cause way too much supernatural drama. The Cat Shifter is great, though. I want more of her.

Gunnar did a bad bad thing, but except for the unrepentant psycho killer vibes, he is similar to what I liked about Blade, so he's a suitable replacement. And he'll definitely keep things interesting. And if Lillith gets napped at any point, he'll be very useful.

I hate her mom. Her mom is stupid, and she's going to do something stupid to wreck things, I just know it. Whatever horrible awful is about to happen on the horizon is probably going to be started by her. I just hope everyone gets blood bonds before that happens. Em will be FINE!! And Sebastian will be perfection.

OMG Book Two was just as crazy phenomenal as Book One if not more so!! And Gunner..yeah he’s my absolute favorite. I absolutely love this series so far and can’t wait for the next book. Am not wanting this series to end. R.E. Bond has definitely gone above and beyond creating these fantastic characters that you simply can not avoid falling in love with even the broody and rude Chaos all the way to the annoyingly OTT protective shifter and BFF Blade.

The guys are back and they’re not happy about the added duo to team Lilith but they make her happy and because of an impulsive forced bond they’re stuck with them. Lilith is still struggling to get her magic under control and has finally found someone who can help her. With the added chaos and danger lurking the guys are doing their best to not drain her but with 7 Vampires in her harem and 3 of them bonded mates now it’s definitely a struggle. The connection she has with each of the guys is amazing and the steam is off the charts between them all.

This is a series I recommend to everyone. It’s got all the feels. You’ll be laughing one minute, sad and wanting to cry on occasion and of course angry and wanting to yell at Chaos or Blade, or even at Dear Ol Mommy Dearest when she suddenly pops up. If you love R.E. Bonds books or Paranormal Romances this is a must have series!!

Bonds galore

Really loved the first Dreary Shadows book and this one is just as good. Lili is such a loving person who sees the good in people, wanting to help them if she can.
She grows into her power in this book as she discovers more about herself and her family. We pick the story up with Vain and the guys still absent and Lili is missing him badly, her powers out of control, the wolves living with her to guard her from errant vampires who so want a taste of her sweet blood.
Her harem keeps growing, love all the guys, Sebastian is still my favourite but also think Zeus is another fantastic personality and love him too, especially after finding out his backstory. Lili has growing collection of supernaturals in her life, most helpful, some like her mother not so much. Think we will be seeing a lot more of Lili’s evil mother in the next book. I wonder how Lili will stay human given the number of vampires bonded to her she is acquiring and the danger they are to her, especially Emmett.
Excited to see where the story takes us in book three, loving this story, Rachel’s writing is great as always and this is a fantastic take on a vampires, she brings all the characters to life and makes this world seem real. Can’t wait for the next book.

Overall, I’m enjoying this series. Again, you can’t go wrong with a dark "why choose" paranormal romance.

This continues to be a quick and easy read that you can’t get enough of.

This book picks up a year after the last book, and the guys are still gone. Enter Zeus and Gunnar, two new vampires that quickly find a connection with Lilith.

The story is quick, and it keeps you hooked. The characters are interesting, and I’m enjoying the twist about Lilith. The spice is fantastic and very vampiric, if you catch my drift.

The only thing that kept it from being a five-star rating was the lack of depth with the characters. I would say it’s more insta-love, which isn’t a personal favorite of mine. I was hoping Lilith would make the guys beg for her forgiveness more after abandoning her for a year and pretty much leaving a note saying that they don’t plan to return. She forgave them too quickly and easily. So, I felt her character changed dramatically from the person we met in the beginning of book 1.

I like how quick of a read this has been, but I definitely feel this could have been fleshed out a bit more to have a more authentic connection with the characters.

However, I think this is meant to be a fast burn, fast-paced, and super spicy series, which I also love it as is.

I did not realize that RE Bond had changed this from a duet to a trilogy so I was trying to figure out how she was going to wrap everything up when I had so many more questions. Surprise.

I absolutely adored the new characters she introduced, I think I liked them more than the original guys. I hope we get to learn more about them and their history together in the next book. I did like that we learned more about the original guys too, like how they met, their relationships etc.

There was a lot more spice in this book (a lot) and more relationship building too. It wasn’t all serious, the characters had fun with one another. Obviously with some precautions. We also learned more about Lilith’s lineage, I just know something big is going to happen with that.

I was expecting a big cliffhanger but the ending just left me wanting to know more. There is a good combination of relationship and plot developments to keep you entertained throughout. I know there are going to be more shocking revelations in the next book and I cannot wait.

O.M.G.reading Dreary Shadows is sooo sooo hot. Lilith is so confused and goes through so many different emotions that fascinates readers and makes you addicted to reading about who she will choose. She wants to move on but she wants the Shadow Brothers. Readers will want to pick sides and who they want Lilith to choose. Readers will get a more of a scope of what is going on but there will be new questions that arise while reading and by the end you are practically vibrating with the need to find out what is happens next. Loved it all! Dreary Shadows has all of my favorite elements and is filled with so much hotness that you won’t want to put it down. One thing that I love is you can’t predict what is going to happen which is amazing when you are as much of a book lover as I am. R.E. Bond does an amazing job with her books. I love the characters and their stories to find their HEA that I am so here for it all!! I highly recommend Dreary Shadows Part Two, the Dreary Shadows series, and R.E. Bond as an author. Can’t wait for Dreary Shadows Part Three!! Happy Reading!!!

Lil is such a strong character and isn't afraid to ask for what she wants (even if it might end up getting her killed). Each of the guys offers her something different and I've loved watching their relationships develop over the first two books and I'm looking forward to see how things turn out in book 3. I don't think I could choose a fave guy yet.. Chaos is the perfect Grump, Cain is over the top alphahole that you can't help but love, Sebastian is the sweet soul that just wants to love and be loved, Emmett is just perfect, Enzo is the dirty talking best friend you need in your life, Gunner the crazy ass psycho who is obsessed with his girl, and Zeus is just a tortured soul trying to get over a tragic past.. honestly how could you choose a favourite from this group?!
As always check CW/TW.

Dreary Shadows Pt 2 and it has been a year since the Shadow brothers left Lilith and Dreary Shadows. During this time she has been studying how to control her new witch powers.

She is bonded to Cain, and as he is not near her she is suffering physically. We get introduced to two new vampires, Zeus and Gunnar. To ease her pain she lets Gunnar bite her and as a result of this, the brothers return.

She is still friends with wolves, Ezra and Blade, yet the town is still filled with creatures who’d want nothing more than to taste Lilith.

Pt 2 is filled with some unexpected twists and turns. We learn about Lilith’s lineage and the history of numerous supernatural creatures.

So the harem of 5 becomes 7. Will Ezra and Blade end up joining?? Hopefully this and other questions will be answered in Pt 3.

There is another cliffhanger, but it's not as bad as the one in Pt 1.

It’s disappointing and I hate low rating a book but I’ve got to be honest, this was not for me. I enjoyed the first book but things just got very different very quickly in this one.

The first book had its issues but was a fun read and Lilith was a really strong main character. And then she did a complete 180 in this book and became meek and way way too forgiving and I can’t understand the authors choice in this.

I also think the amount of men is also an issue for me. There’s too many to fill build any sort of relationship with as the reader and all of the bonds Lilith builds with them feel rushed.

There is a LOT of spice so I can see if you just want a spicy read with low plot this may be preferable but this was just not for me!

We’ve got why choose, slow burn, enemies to lovers, vampires, werewolves, forced proximity, witches, morally grey MMC
