Darlene L Turner began writing inspirational suspense a few years ago and quickly made a name for herself, winning awards and telling great stories. This one is action-packed and totally satisfying for any suspense fan. And there is a dog!! I love dogs in books. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is my own.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape is a powerful, suspenseful addition to the multi-author K-9 Search and Rescue series. The story revolves around mountain survival expert Jayla Hoyt, her K-9 search and rescue dog Hercules, and Alaskan park ranger Bryson Clark who unite to uncover a culprit who is deliberately triggering avalanches and targeting the trio. In the action-packed plot, danger lurks around every bend—one dramatic event after another. The shocking reveal took me completely by surprise. Advancing the story are relatable characters that you can connect with and root for. The faith journey, leading to the realization that redemption comes only from God, is inspiring and encouraging. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it especially for fans of inspirational romantic suspense.

Jayla and her K-9 Rescue Dog, Hercules, lead search and rescue units from the Yukon on into Alaska. Searching for avalanche victims, she finds Bryon Clake is part of her team. They have an unpleasant past.

The storyline is fraught with tension, danger, intrigue, multiple rescue attempts, and renewed faith. There are lots of twists to the story as Jayla and Bryson hunt for an unknown assailant. The story is non-stop action and I was hooked from the beginning trying to figure out who was behind everything.
The ending was a surprise but wrapped everything up nicely. Highly recommended.

I received an early ARC from the publisher and voluntarily choose to review it. All opinions are my own.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape by Darlene Turner is part of Harlequin's K-9 Search and Rescue series. Jayla Hoyt is a mountain survival expert. Along with her search and rescue dog Hercules they operate with a team to rescue skiers and those who get lost in the mountains. Jayla works on the Canadian side of the border with Alaska. Jayla and her team coordinate with an Alaskan team. That's where Bryson Clarke comes in. He's an Alaska park ranger. When the two teams meet after an avalanche Jayla and Bryson end up working together. They are suspicious of recent avalanches that should not have occurred and they are determined to find out what's going on. They face much danger as they work their way on the dangerous, snowy path to their Happily Ever After. I really enjoyed all the suspense and action. The two main characters, Jayla and Bryson, are very likable. Or should I say the three main characters as Jayla's search and rescue dog Hercules is very likable too.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This is a Romantic Suspense. I read over 50% of this book before DNFing this book. The beginning of this book was full of action and suspense, but it did not help you really connect to the characters. I felt that there was so much action and suspense, but there was very little character development. I just could not connect to the story because I could not connect to the characters. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

I just finished reading the e-book of this and loved it. Reading about avalanche rescues with Jayla, Bryson and Hercules made me want to visit this beautiful country. Their story shows that God's forgiveness extends to all people and that salvation is available to all. Darlene Turner knocked another on out of the park with this book.

I received this book as an ARC with no expectation of a positive review. Ms. Turner created a fabulous story about Jayla Holt, a survival expert, her wonderful search and rescue K-9 Hercules and Bryson Clark an Alaskan Park Ranger. After being caught in an Avalache, many things keep happening at her station. Who or what is behind all the destruction? Jayla, Bryson and Hercules are determined to find out.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape by Darlene L Turner is book #9 in the K-9 Search and Rescue series. Mountain survival expert Jayla Hoyt and her dog Hercules survive an avalanche just to discover it was deliberately caused. She partners up with Alaskan Park Ranger Bryson Clarke to figure out the culprit. Her and Bryson have history and she doesn't trust him one bit. They need to set that aside as they themselves become targets of the mastermind behind the avalanches.
Darlene L Turner has written what you have come to expect when you pick up one of her suspenses. She doesn't disappoint and gives you action upon action. I don't think I was able to take a deep breath before Jay, Bry, and Hercules were once again targeted. This reads like a Die Hard movie. Not only were they fighting against evil men, but they also had the weather to deal with. It would stop snowing only to start again a few hours later. I love snowstorms, mountains, and dogs so all wins. I loved the faith aspect in the book. Each of them were dealing with trust issues, belief issues, and feeling like God wasn't listening to them. Amidst all the chaos, Darlene writes a beautiful story about God's redemption for all of us. The epilogue was quite perfect! We all know epilogues are my jam! And it's a good one. I was happy to read about their HAE. Bryson and Jayla deserved to be happy after everything they encountered. I was given a copy of this book, but all opinions are my very own.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape by Darlene L. Turner dials up the action to an explosive level. Jayla Hoyt and her search and rescue golden retriever Hercules search for survivors after an avalanche. Bryson Clarke finds evidence that someone caused the avalanches, and he and Jayla investigate. But their history makes them unlikely partners to stop a crime. She doesn’t trust Bryson, but when the enemy targets Jayla and Hercules, they are forced to work together as the threats escalate.

I love this complex story. There’s plenty of danger, but also readers get to see how both Jayla and Bryson have to overcome past hurts that plague them both. I love the balance of the action and the romance. Also, the scenery adds to the suspense of the story, which is set on the border between Alaska and Canada. Of course, S&R dog Herc steals the show!

Definitely pick up your copy of Alaskan Avalanche Escape when it is available on February 21st.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape by Darlene Turner is part of the K-9 Search and Rescue series from Love Inspired Suspense.

Jayla and her Avalanche rescue dog Hercules have to work Bryson Clarke, a man she doesn’t trust. But as danger ramps up, the number of people can they can trust gets smaller and smaller, forcing them to trust one another.

This is a page-turning suspense located in the mountains of the Alaskan-Canadian border. Avalanches, snow storms, and bad guys conspire to make this a story with lots of twists and turns. I especially loved reading about Hercules and his K9 abilities.

If you enjoy winter and snow stories, especially set in Alaska, and with a K9, then check out Alaskan Avalanche Escape. It’s an entertaining read.

An action-packed, faith-filled, memorable romantic suspense novel . . .

This is the second novel I've read by this gifted author. She has a talent for drawing her readers into the action from the first sentence and keeping them engaged until the last page of the book.

This story includes well-developed main characters, including an extraordinary K-9 named Hercules, and features excellent descriptive writing about the settings in the story. I was so involved in the story at one point that I realized I was shivering from the cold when in reality my home was cozy and warm!

There is a small group of supporting characters with very bad attitudes in this story. Their angst and sarcasm filled the scene when they were on page which helped to balance the personalities of the otherwise amiable main characters.

The lead female character, Jayla Hoyt, carried a deep burden of guilt over some events from her past. However, Hercules was sensitive to her feelings and moods and provided a lot of comfort to his handler and others throughout the story. They worked together like a well-oiled machine, and the pair trusted each other implicitly.

The lead male character, Bryson Clarke, dealt with his own demons from his past and was frequently reminded of them by some individuals around him. He was trying to heal and move forward in his life; he was instrumental in helping Jayla through some really tough times.

My favorite character was Hercules. I thoroughly enjoy reading stories which include K-9 heroes because I love to learn more about how these animals assist their handlers in dangerous situations and in everyday life. Hercules offered some comic relief in the story with his natural 'doggy' behavior when he was off-duty. 'Herc' was a valuable addition to the cast.

The mystery that ran throughout the book was complex and well-planned by the author. She did not reveal anything about anyone until she was good and ready. That simple technique is what makes suspense, thriller, and mystery readers come back for more!

This book is completely clean in language and content.

I received a copy of this book from the author as a member of her launch team. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here are solely my own.

Darlene L. Turner does it again, marrying faith and non-stop action in her newest suspense, Alaskan Avalanche Escape, part of Love Inspired’s K-9 Search and Rescue series.
Canadian Jayla Hoyt is part of a cross-border mountain task force. She’s a mountain survival expert along with her K-9 partner, search and rescue dog Hercules.
Bryson Clarke is an Alaskan park ranger, whose team works with Jayla’s from time to time.
When a sudden avalanche occurs while Jayla, her leader, and others are on the mountain, they have to reach out for help. Here comes Bryson, or as Jayla says, “HIM, the man she has no desire to see or work with, not after a hesitation on his part months earlier landed her team member and friend in a wheelchair.
The avalanche turns out to be created on purpose, but why, and who did it? And why are they getting shot at soon after?
Jayla is a believer who has distanced herself from God, choosing instead to shoulder burdens of the past that she shouldn’t be carrying. Bryson grew up agnostic, but is now starting to wonder if a relationship with the Lord might be what can heal the burdens he also carries.
As they work together to find the mastermind and save more lives from being taken, their feelings for one another grow. But can the Lord help them both heal emotionally, and come to Him, so they can be together?
You’ll want to find out, plus the book has my favorite…an epilogue!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

Someone triggered the avalanche! For Jayla teaching survival in the mountains is part of her job - the rest being rescuing those caught in an avalanche. Stationed on the border between the Yukon and Alaska, she and her beautiful Golden Retriever SAR, Hercules spend their time keeping people safe. Together they have survived many dangers, but will they manage to survive Murdoc?

As an Alaskan Park Ranger, Byrson is frequently called to help with the search and rescue in the rugged mountains on the border. For some reason avalanches seem to be occurring without any kind of warning, weather wise. As the investigation begins, more unexpected events start to happen. Someone has a great deal to lose if they can solve the mystery, but how many more will die before they do?

This well written story kept me guessing with arson, an RPG and more. Who could be trusted? An early copy was received through Love Inspired Suspense, Harlequin and BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape is written by Darlene L. Turner. This is a Love Inspired Suspense book that is part of the K-9 Search and Rescue series. This can be read as a stand alone. Once you start this book you will not want to stop.

Jayla and her K9 partner, Hercules are a top notch search and rescue team. They have helped find countless people that have been buried under avalanches. When an avalanche buries her boss she finds herself in charge.

Former Alaskan trooper, Bryson suspects the most recent uptick in avalanches is because someone is deliberately causing them. When he gets to the scene and sees Jayla he knows she isn’t going to be happy about seeing him. But he trusts her to let him in on his top secret research.

Suddenly both find themselves having to put aside their pasts and depend on each other. For whoever is triggering the avalanches is set on eliminating them. This book is so full of action and suspense that your heart will be pounding the entire time.

I absolutely love this author. Every book I’ve read has had lots of twists and turns. She always writes such powerful reminders that God loves us and wants us to lay our burdens at his feet.

Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead publicity tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Jayla Hoyt is part of the US/Canadian Cross Border Mountain task force. The group is made of former military, former law enforcement, park rangers, constables and Search and rescue. They also have an group of SAR dogs. Ethan Ingersoll was the lead in this group and he and Jayla had bonded after they almost died in an avalanche almost 2 years ago.
While out on their current patrol an avalanche occurs, Ethan pushes one of the team members out of the way but was unable to get himself to safety. Jayla saw him go over the side of a crevasse. She could not believe it, not her friend, another person she cares about taken too soon. She had Hercules, her SAR dog, immediately start searching for the rest of the team,
once he found them, and then helped dig them out, that was when Jayla took a moment and let some tears fall.

Alaska Park Ranger, Bryson Clark knew by the look on Jayla's face that she was not happy to see him, the last time they saw one another it did not go well. That was six months ago and he still beat himself up over it. But that was then and he had grown as a person and a park ranger. Moments later Bryson's team approached. They immediately began checking out Jayla's team for any injuries. Then lead them to their station which was closer than Jayla's station.
Bryson and Jayla hung back to look around the area because Hercules had found an blasting cap from dynamite. This indicates this avalanche was was intentionally set off. As Jayla & Bryson compare notes they start to see a pattern of the recent avalanches, too many in too short of a period of time. There must be a reason, a reason why someone would deliberately create avalanches, deliberately put anyone on the mountain in harms way.
While the investigation continues into the avalanches, Jayla finds the walls around her heart begin coming down, she sees Bryson in a different light. And Bryson starts to re-think his decision about staying single, not all women are like his ex, right?

Thank you Darlene Turner for creating another story that has it all! Mystery and suspense a twist I did not see coming. And Hercules!

This book is a thrill ride from beginning to end with a setting and characters that will keep your heart pumping. And did I mention that there is an heroic dog named Herc? He sniffs out victims of avalanches and belongs to survival expert Jayla Hoyt. Jayla is in danger from page one and is protected not only by Herc but also by a man whom she considers a coward, Bryson Clarke. The backstory behind these two characters is worth the read all by itself, but this book includes so much more. There are nefarious characters plotting death and destruction and family drama that unfolds as the plot moves along at a rapid pace. This is a must-read clean romantic suspense with faith elements that were heartwarming and realistic. With themes of forgiveness and redemption, this book hit all of the right spots for me.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape was a great story. It started right away with an avalanche and the action kept going. I liked how Jayla and Bryson's past intertwined with some caution in it. Then the reasons were explained later. This story had all kinds of things that happened, which made it all the more exciting. The ending was a total surprise! I didn't see that coming at all.

WOW!!! Darlene L. Turner has done it again. From the very first page, action jumps out at you and does not let up.

With her search and rescue dog, Canadian mountain survival expert Jayla Hoyt works alongside Alaska park ranger Bryson Clarke to try to figure out why there are avalanches where there shouldn't be. Both are dealing with past mistakes and betrayals that keep them from trusting others. When they get too close to the truth, can they learn to trust each other and God before it is too late?

This is one of those books you just cannot put down. It has it all - action, danger, family issues, tough topics, faith, loss, joy, redemption, and more. It is a MUST READ!!!
I received an advance copy to read. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Alaskan Avalanche Escape by Darlene Turner was so exciting! I read a lot of books, but it’s been a while since I’ve read a Love Inspired Suspense book. This book helped me remember all the reasons I love reading them. Though Alaskan Avalanche Escape is part of the K-9 Search and Rescue Series, each book is written by a different author, and they don’t need to be read in order. These books have the tagline, “Courage, Danger, Faith. Faith sets them apart. You know when you read a Love Inspired Suspense book, it will be clean and contain elements of faith like trusting God’s leading and protection.

The author describes this Alaskan/Canadian setting with vivid detail. The book takes place close to the Canadian border, so when suspicious avalanches start happening, the two K-9 rescue teams must coordinate. They’re suspicious in that they are happening in conditions they shouldn’t be happening in. I’ve never even been skiing, so my knowledge of avalanches is limited to what I’ve seen in disaster movies! The author does a good job explaining why some members of the team are concerned when the weather conditions don’t warrant their occurrence.

The characters are very well-written, so I quickly became invested in their lives. Jayla and Bryson have had issues in their pasts which make them very cautious and suspicious of one another. However, as they work together, they grow closer and begin to work through their trust and grief issues.

As I said, the book is so exciting! I read it very quickly because I couldn’t put it down! It is filled with suspenseful situations and will keep you guessing about what is really going on.

I highly recommend it to all of you who love clean romances with suspense and in which faith plays a role in the characters lives.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Whew! I need a blanket, a warm and cozy fire and a hot cup of coffee after going on this adventure in the frozen tundra of Alaska and Canada. The non-stop action of running from bullets, avalanches, exploding vehicles and bitterly cold temperatures will pull you into this story from the first few pages.

Jayla Hoyt and her SAR K-9, Hercules, work to rescue people in the snow-covered areas of Alaska and Canada. When Jayla and her team are caught in an unexpected avalanche, they have to get help. Alaskan park ranger Bryson Clarke is sent to assist.

Jayla does not trust Bryson due to a past experience with him when he was unable to help her friend. Both Jayla and Bryson have some past trust issues that they will have to overcome in order to stay alive. They need each other. Jayla has lost her faith, and Bryson has never believed, but their trials together will help restore faith and find new faith.

This was an explosive, fast-paced thriller full of suspense and intrigue. You will be burning the midnight oil to finish this book because you will not be able to put it down. Darlene Turner has written another best seller!

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Jayla, a mountain survival expert and Park Ranger Bryson find themselves in the uncomfortable position of working together to find out who is intentionally starting avalanches. They have worked together before, and it resulted with a tragic ending. With Jayla's search dog Hercules at their side, they pull together, but as things escalate further lives are endangered.

This Christian based story mixed with romance, mystery, and suspense appeals to me. Despite this, I didn't feel like I could relate to Jayla or Bryson without more character development. Thanks to Harlequin and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

I am a big fan of books by Darlene L. Turner. She does an amazing job of grabbing your attention from the beginning of the book and getting it until the end. This book is not an exception to that ability. The two main characters have a past experience with each other that makes their relationship tense, but makes the plot that much more interesting. There are so many possible suspects in this book that it is quite a puzzle to try to solve before you are told the name of the bad guy. I definitely enjoyed trying to figure it all out on my own first. I highly recommend this book.
