He’s a former Navy SEAL with an attitude. She’s a sweet, sexy woman with a target on her back. Together they have an unknown enemy with only one thing on their agenda…to kill them both.
Jax Monroe makes no apologies about who he is or what he wants. A self-made man, there isn’t anything he needs. Least of all the quiet, sexy-without-even-trying woman who stumbles into his nightclub looking for help. Inexplicably drawn to Poppy’s big brown eyes and luscious smile, Jax reluctantly agrees to assist her. Little does he know his entire world is about to turn on its axis In more ways than one.
Penelope “Poppy Campbell is the sole witness to a vicious murder. The only problem is no one believes her. Desperate to prove she isn’t crazy, she turns to Jax Monroe—the sexy, intimidating, tattooed P.I. who also happens to own the hottest nightclub in Denver. The frustrating man makes her blood boil and her toes curl, but when danger closes in on them, Poppy has no choice but to trust Jax with her life.
Hidden away from the men hunting them down, these two are unable to escape the unbridled passion brewing between them. Before long, Jax and Poppy realize their lives aren’t the only things they stand to lose. And when danger finds them in the one place they should’ve been safe, Jax will stop at nothing to protect her. Because like it or not, Poppy is his.
Author of the exciting R.I.S.C. Series, Anna Blakely brings you stories of love, action, and edge of your seat suspense. As an avid reader herself, Anna writes what she loves...strong, Alpha heroes and the intelligent, independent heroines they love.
Anna's dream is to create stories her readers will enjoy, and characters they'll fall in love with as much as she has. She believes in true love and Happily Ever After, which is what she will bring to you.
Anna lives in rural Missouri with her husband and children, as well as several rescued animals. When she's not writing, Anna enjoys reading, watching action and horror movies (the scarier the better), and spending time with her amazing family.
Another fantastic addition to the Marked series! Poppy Campbell is new to Denver. She is a traveling nurse and has taken a temporary position at a local hospital and plans to enjoy her time here. Little does she know that on her way out to meet friends at a local club that she will witness a murder. When she runs to get away from the assailants who does she run into? None other than Jax "I don't get involved" Monroe. If you have been reading the Marked series, you know that Jax claims to like his life of running his club, being a P.I. and living a carefree single life. When Poppy bumps into him she leaves an impression but when she returns a few days later to hire him to investigate the murder she witnessed, she really starts to get under his skin. Jax and Poppy begin working together to find the criminals while also keeping Poppy alive from their retribution. I enjoyed seeing Jax finally open up his heart to embrace more than just the superficial life that he was living. I really can't say more without giving away their story but I will say that it was full of twists and turns, laughter and angst, hope and heat and ultimately the HEA that all the fans of this series has been hoping for. Marked for Obsession was told from dual POV and stands alone however I really recommend reading the previous books in the series to get the most out of the supporting characters.
Jax Monroe's fallback is sarcasm followed up by irrasibility and downright grumpiness. He doesn't suffer fools. Poppy Campbell is small town, mid west born and bred. She's new to big city living. Unfortunately she ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time. Now she's in the mafia's crosshairs. Getting no satisfaction from the police she turns to Jax to help her. From the moment he sets eyes on Poppy, Jax is smitten. Not that he'd admit it. He's not the kind of man that she needs. Try telling her that. It becomes an all out race to stay one step ahead and keep Poppy safe. Meanwhile they both are falling deeper and deeper for one another.
First of all, was this book even edited? There are so many spelling/word misuse and story errors (the FMC’s middle name changes!). Next, the heroine seems weak and a bit airheaded in the story…we get information outside the story that she’s smart and capable, but don’t really see that within the story itself. Then, the H of a previous book in the series is depicted as kind of a jerk in this story, which was weird.
I liked the H Jax from his cameos in previous books, but here he’s over the top arrogant, to the point he puts the h in danger instead of accepting the help he needed because of his pride. Hoping for a better book next in the series. And editing.
I’m seeing a reoccurring theme: Man so incredible but makes stupid mistakes.
I was really looking forward to this book, but it was really disappointing. In every book, the characters have said how amazing Jax is, how he’s unstoppable and knows everything. So in this one he makes loads of mistakes and doesn’t accept help guarding Poppy, when he absolutely should have! Risking her life in the process, for his pride.
Poppy witnesses a brutal murder, but the police don’t believe her. So she tries to hire Jax as a p.I (As he’s so amazing and brilliant.) to prove that someone was murdered. The murderers don’t like what she is doing and she’s in grave danger. Jax is attracted to Poppy but doesn’t believe he’s good enough for her, and doesn’t want a relationship. Again with this plot line??? Are all her hero’s the same?
Jax takes Poppy to his cabin in the woods, that’s ultra secure and refuses help from his brother the detective, to guard her. His ultra secure house that hasn’t got a safe room, and actually isn’t that secure. There are loads of other mistakes, that this amazing man should have thought of. One example they are obviously being tracked, as the killers find them really easily, too easily. So why didn’t he check that they hadn’t put a tracker on his car?
Poppy is sadly forgettable in this book. I can’t really remember much about her, apart from she’s a bit simpering, and weak.
Jax, so tough and hard on the outside but with a deep core of vulnerability, his mum abandoned him then built a new family. His dad, well he wasn't a dad. A brother he didn't know about until recently. A lot of Jax's anger is an undercurrent of jealousy, his brother had everything and he had nothing but not his brothers fault. I'm glad they are building a relationship even if it's slow going. As for Poppy, boy she was strong. Forgiving and loving. She did everything asked of her even though she was scared. She also brought vulnerable Max to the surface. There is action and suspense a plenty, edge of my seat moments in which I held my breath. Exciting scenes. There are some touching emotional scenes as well as they both get to know more about each other, it wouldn't be complete with out the hot and steamy. I found it to be quite a powerful read, the emotions very raw for Jax, he has never had his heart challenged so it's hard for him to deal with, Poppy is patient and understanding, gives reassurance and doesn't hold back. I knew this one would be amazing and I was right.
I LOVE that Jax is brought to his knees by the sweetest, innocent, country girl who is full of sunshine and determined to do right, no matter the consequences for herself! She is a distraction of the very best kind, even if her heart is too big and she is oblivious to the real danger that is hunting her. Jax may want her, but more than that he needs to help her, protect her and THEN claim her, because for the first time ever he has found someone who makes him whole. It terrifies him, but he needs to love her like he needs air to breathe and it is really beautiful to finally see his walls come down. Don't get me wrong he still has the huge chip on his shoulder and an attitude the size of Denver but his love has allowed Poppy to find her fire and she doesn't hesitate to sass him and call him on his cocky behaviour. Their banter and verbal sparring is steamy and packed with chemistry. A great addition to the series, this may just be my favourite of the series. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Poppy is on her way to meet friends after work and she sees something that she shouldn't. Terrified, she runs into the nightclub where friends are waiting. She literally runs into Jax, who owns the club... but she doesn't know it, yet. After trying to report what she saw to the police, they just blow her off. Determined to get justice, she hires the best P. I. in town, who is none other than Jax. Someone is out to silence Poppy and Jax is going to protect her no matter what. These two fall for each other at lightning speed. The twists and turns in this story are breath taking. You will be on the edge of your seat until the last minute. Poppy and Jax have some harrowing stuff to get through to get the HEA they deserve. You need this book in your life! Sorry, no spoilers.
Travel trauma nurse, Poppy Campbell was all set for a night of clubbing when she witnessed a murder. Barely escaping after being witnessed being a witness, Poppy ran to her friends at the club, insisting they take her to the police. They didn’t believe her but feeling she had to do something, Poppy is sent to former SEAL/PI/club owner, Jax Monroe.
Hearing Poppy’s tale, Jax knows he should turn the job down but he’s invested emotionally like never before. Hours after they meet, Jax arrives at Poppy’s in time to thwart her murder just before the pair learns about the hornet’s nest Poppy revealed in her witnessing and Jax goes into over-protective mode trying to eliminate the threat and keep his love safe! Rating: 4.25stars
This is my last book for 2022, and I ended on a high note. :)
Oh, how the mighty do fall... and fall hard. I was so excited to read P.I./Club Owner/former Navy SEAL/all-around tough guy Jax Monroe's story in the Marked series, and Ms. Blakely did not disappoint! I loved it.
There's not much mystery who the bad guys are here--it's a first-rate thriller with plenty of danger, action and steam. As a Midwesterner, an added bonus for me was that he fell for an all-American woman from Kansas. Poppy was down-to-earth, level-headed, and didn't put up with Jax's attitude when it kicked in. Great characters in this series!
Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Anna! This one is about the recently stubborn Jax and the feisty Poppy. Well that was a bad day gone wrong when Poppy witnessed a crime in progress as she was heading to Jax's nightclub to meet co-workers. It just gets more intense as you continue reading this story. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and you may shed a tear or two. So happy all turns out for these two. Now the next story already sounds intriguing. FANTASTIC job Anna! I would recommend this book. Can't wait for the next book!
Always lots going on, fast paced. Have loved Jax attitude in all previous books in this series, but more so in this one. He has met his match in Poppy.
I did wonder though what happened to Ivan, as he seemed to go missing. Once his boss was in the cabin, Jax never mentioned him not contacted him when trouble turned up. And yet Ivan was Jax's shadow.
I must say, the front cover seems to mirror the description of Jax. He deserves 5 stars all to himself.
I LOVED Jax. I loved all the self reflection in him, but it was a losing battle. Loved all Poppy's inner thoughts, "dipped in chocolate", "fire doesn't scare me". He's like the big bad wolf, that scares everyone, everyone except Poppy! A fast-paced book that had me hooked from page one. It didn't stop right up until the last page, whew, what a ride! Poppy, like the flower, loved it.
It's rare I actually wish for a book to be longer but this book was just so easy to read, exciting, and fun that I wanted even more of it. That being said, this book helped get me out of a book slump and dang if Jax isn't just alpha male scrumptiousness!!!
I'm excited to read the next in this series. Also gotta say, Anna Blakely seriously knows how to pick drool worthy cover models for this series.
Anna Blakely always delivers an awesome romantic suspense book! Marked for Obsession is a sexy, suspenseful page turner, and I couldn’t put it down. loved Poppy and Jax together. I always appreciate when an alpha finds his heart growing three sizes! Poopy is a strong heroin that finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. She runs into Jax as she flees from danger. Can he help her figure out who is after her and keep her safe?
Another amazing read in the Marked series. I loved Tough guy Jax’s story. Jax Monroe is a PI/club owner/ex navy SEAL who Poppy Campbell runs into at his club after she has witnessed a murder. No one believes her story so she hires him to prove she is telling the truth. Sparks fly between them and she melts his tough guy persona and realizes she trusts him. This has mystery suspense and steamy romance and a HEA. I have loved this series and can’t wait for the next one.
Marked for Obsession is my favorite story in the series. I absolutely love Jax Monroe, his character intrigued me from the beginning. Jax finally finds the one woman to catch his eye and his heart. Poppy witnesses something that has put her life on the line. She goes to Jax to help her and they both will find more then answers. Great addition to the series. I have a feeling Grady and Iz's story will be just as good. Happy Reading 📚
Love me a dark hero, with an attitude but a heart of gold. Love Jax and Poppys story. They both deserved a lovely outcome. Jax proved to be a deep man with a lot of baggage that just needed the right love to help him realize...he was more than he thought he was, could give and love more than he ever imagined. Poppy, spunky yet sweet, with an innocence yet simple savvy...what a combo. Like peanut butter and jelly!
Another amazing book from Anna Blakely. I loved Poppy’s character and Jax’s sarcasm. I don’t love an insta-love story but the plot was fast paced and kept me interested. A few things made me take a star off, like his name going from Jaxon Miles Monroe to Jaxon Everett Monroe in the epilogue and a couple other editing things. But overall, another wonderful book by this author!
I’ve been impatiently waiting for Jax’s story since his first appearance in the series, I knew he would have to have a strong lady to bring him to his knees. Poppy did just that, she was strong and just the right amount of sweetness to show the big man what love is and just how much he is worthy of. Sigh..
When Poppy runs into Jax and their eyes meet, Jax immediately knows she is his but he also knows he isn't the one for her...when Poppy comes to Jax for his help and the trouble begins to escalate will he be able to keep her safe and his heart intact....grab this heart racing, steamy romance and enjoy seeing Jax fall for the fiesty, sexy woman who is his one. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
The author Anna Blakely doesn’t disappoint when it came to this book. Just WOW Suspense, edge of your seat just can’t put down. The chemistry between the hero and the heroine is just down right sparky at the fist meeting. Definitely a book you can read again and again and throughly enjoy like it was the first time.
## I've been anxiously awaiting Jax's story and loved reading it. Was I disappointed he was portrayed as a manwhore? Heck yes. But luckily there are NO other women (ex or otherwise) in this story. He's a little rough around the edges and tries desperately to hide is innate goodness, but Poppy brings it out in him. Great addition to this series.
I didn’t expect to like Jax but the way he was with Poppy made him loveable. There were some moments that made no sense for former military guys and FBI agents and police officers. They missed some obvious dangers.
This series has so many wrecked cars and burned buildings. Love seeing the couples from prior stories being integral in helping.
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Marked series. I have read the first three books in this series before picking up this book, but I do think this book could be read as a stand alone. I know I was going to love Jax's story, and I did. I loved getting to know his character more. This story had me from the beginning and I could not put it down.
Marked for Obsession was a great book! This was a fast paced, action packed insta love book! Jax is a alpha hero who isn't looking for love, but he cannot fight the pull he has to strong & sassy Poppy. I could not put this book down! Great read
Another great read by Anna Blakely. I have loved Jax since the beginning and Poppy is so right for him. I highly recommend the Marked for series, and all the Anna Blakely books
This is the fourth book in this series but it can be read as a standalone (but characters from the previous books do make an appearance). I absolutely love Jax and Poppy's story and the dynamic between them is fabulous to read.
Jax has so many layers and loved getting to see all his different sides. Poppy may come from a small-town but she has spunk in spades. She definitely wasn't expected but she smacked him the face and that was it. Definitely story that will keep you turning pages.
I couldn't wait to read about Jax, Anna has done him justice, great story and Poppy was a great match for him. Overall a great story, steamy, suspenseful and great characters. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
I could not wait for this story, when I saw Johnny as the cover model my expectations was even higher. This book did not disappoint. Jax was as awesome as I thought and Poppy was great. The whole series has been good but this one was the best.
