Born and raised in coastal New England, Christine Warren lived in the South and the Mid-Atlantic before hopping to the other side of the country to take up the life of a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her landlocking phobia. Hmm, need to research a scientific term for that...

When not scrambling frantically to complete her latest writing project, Christine spends most of her time as a crazy animal lady, hanging out with her dog Levi (he’s the one with the hair) and pretending to train him to have some manners. She also hangs out with her horse, Cal—a thoroughbred with a craving for strawberry licorice twists—her goddog, Merlin; and her best friend, fellow author Hannah Murray. In addition to playing with her pets, Christine’s hobbies include identifying dog breeds from photos of their underbellies, appreciating fine and not-so-fine wines, shopping for the perfect pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, and most of all reading things someone else had to agonize over.

She enjoys hearing from readers and can be reached via email sent to [email protected] or by postal mail to Christine Warren, PO Box 871900, Vancouver, WA 98687-1900.

This book was pathetic at best.
With so many reasons why it was an epic fail I shall refrain from listing it all, in case I once again end up in a bitching tirade, wondering “who publishes such crap?!

The story starts with Regina and her friends from the Upper East Side Manhattan (very reminiscent of Sex in the City) playing a party game called “fantasy fix.
Normally, I would have considered the name of the game as a warning enough as a big red sign flashing “Caution do not proceed! but eternal optimist that I am, carried on reading.

Ladies, and some gents, when your friends force you to play a game, which in no uncertain terms leads to you being whored out to the nearest Tom who will fulfil your deepest darkest fantasies. Slap them and say “no!. Do not, I repeat, do NOT! Exhibit Regina’s behaviour and allow yourself to be bullied into going to a club whereby meeting the said “bring my fantasies to life man.

Unknown to her, Reggie stumbles across a Vamp (at a Goth club how original) who manipulates her mind at lures her home with him in-tow.

Now that we’ve established that our heroine is a push-over who gets bullied by her friends and manipulated by a Vamp, it should really come as no surprise that her deepest darkest fantasy is being submissive. (Art imitating Life?! Perhaps?).

The vampire gives her what her little heart and brain desires and all too soon the 60-odd page battle for the longest recorded sex scene ever, starts.
*tsk tsk tsk* just thinking about it as I write this has me raising my eyebrows. And just to be clear, I’m no Sue. But dammit! I felt like I needed to scrub my brain with bleach just to keep myself from visualising!!

Which brings me to the hero. The vampire, Dmitri. While I adore my alpha males, I felt the incessant need to claw his freaken eyes out!

Dear Dmitri, please note, we are no longer living in the 1200’s. Women no longer have to walk 3 paces behind a man. Times have changed. And when she says “no (because, uh I dunno she realises that maybe fantasies are fantasies for a reason and reality is quite a different matter) she means no NOW, not no later or no when you’re done, you over bearing, testosterone filled archaic brute!! Ggrrr!!!
All the while, the author tries and depicts Dmitri as the perfect mate for her, money and looks being the redeeming qualities she’s trying to highlight to take your mind off his dictator like behaviour.

Anyway, so a few things happen, involving Reggie’s ex fiancée, a rogue vampire who sires newlings left right and centre, and a mastermind baddie who died suspiciously quickly and easily. After which, Reggie realises she’s in love with Dmitri. Bearing in mind that they’ve only seen each other thrice! She knows nothing of him! Zilch! Nada! And she loves him?!?! Was it love at first sight?! Love at first lay?! What?! What was it?! *sigh* Clearly, if it talks like an idiot, thinks like an idiot and acts like an idiot. It’s our lovely heroine, courtesy of Christine Warren.

Oh! And lets not forget, she finds out Dmitri is a vamp, blithely accepts it, trades her mortality (again for someone she hasn’t known for longer than a week) and follows him like a sheep off into the sunset.

PS: and why is the cover illustrated with a female’s neck but a WOLF in the back ground?! Did Warren forget she’s writing about a vampire? No one double checked this before the book was sent to the shelves?!?! Seriously? Seriously!

It’s ok, but very superficial and shallow.

Everything happens too fast. There is no emotional development so the actions and dialogues of the characters are not believable.

The characters are poorly created. Their personalities are not well defined, they are all over the place and Dimitri’s completely changes at the end. It doesn´t help either that I didn’t like Regina and Dimitri.

Towards the end there is a scene in which Regina is with all her friends, well that was just not believable and absurd.

I do not recommend this book.

Well let me all tell you I got a huge SURPRISE while reading this book. I started it thinking it would be just another light paranormal read and from one minute to the other I was thinking WTF? I think it's important to know for all the ones who are about to start this book that this is not paranormal romance, it's actually erotica. It has paranormal in it, but not much.

Still it was a fast entertaining read and I enjoyed it. Nothing very memorable but not bad. What I liked the most about it was that the heroine never made a fuzz when she noticed things were weird or when she realized the hero was a vampire. She just knew she loved it and that everything would be alright. I hate it when all the heroines get hysterical in this kind of situations. It gets a bit repetitive and tiering. But in this book things were funny and well done. Although at times it just seemed like everything was going too well, but in this case that was good because it wasn't a long story.

I read in many reviews that the rest of the books in the series are better so I will give a try to book 2. But still I just need to say this was a very light read, one of those you just see try to hard to be funny but don't fully make it.

Yep. "One Bite With a Stranger" is the retitled version of "Fantasy Fix", an early title by Christine Warren (Ellora's Cave, 2003). For those of you who weren't willing to pay the $40 most sharks were charging for the few copies available, now you can just pick up this book and you'll have the same story.

Regina and her buds were drunk when they came up with 'Fantasy Fix'--where each of them puts their heads and acquaintances together in an effort to fulfill the fantasies of one of their number. Regina had managed to avoid being 'fixed' while she was with Greg, but now that he's been gone for six months, her friends decide it's her turn. In an effort to get even, she tries to make her fantasies impossible to fill...sex with the real Elvis, Bigfoot, an alien, or a vampire. Oh, and to be mastered! Did nobody ever tell Regina to be careful of what you ask for?

Dmitri is a member of the Council of Others, a very important and filthy rich vampire...and bored. Until he looks across the smoky bar and sees Regina. Unfortunately, it's been so long since Dmitri has had to put any effort into wooing, he makes a few mistakes (major understatement).

If you don't laugh while reading Dmitri and Regina's story...you need to see a shrink. And don't forget your chilled drink, this is a hot one!!!

This story was okay bordering on bleh. Like many of it's genre, it dives into maddening passion and calls it 'eternal love'; though anyone with any sense who's been in a real relationship knows better. Survive the first 10 months, then the first 10 years before you start calling it 'eternal'.

At any rate the female lead is typically 'strong' for this type of story; meaning that she's got a good head on her shoulders and is firmly established in her own right until the first hint of the male lead and then she seems to go into heat like an animal and her will bends to the 'alpha male' like a willow branch in a hurricane.

Do women seriously contemplate or desire this sort of exchange? If so, then it's no wonder modern man is hopelessly lost around his female counterpart. You'd have to be a literal mind reader-much like the male lead-to figure your way through the conflicting signals.

At any rate, I could only wade through about half of this story before I simply couldn't read any more. Bouts of murderous jealousy, sparked because the female lead wasn't instantly 'his' and overbearing 'friends' of the female lead that immediately conflict with the male make this story a torturous mess fairly early on; and lest we forget, there is the twist of bad vampires being made willy-nilly that our lead male must investigate and put a stop to, but can only barely bring his mind to contemplate because his penis and sex-drive are suddenly more important.

You'd think after 600 years a guy would have better self control.

Read only if supernatural romances with the requiste, over-the-top domination/sex scenes are a must for you. It definitely wasn't as good as 'Fairy Princess' in my opinion.

Meet Dmitri Vidme, head of the Council of the Others. A very old vampire and extremely bored.
He can touch minds, read thoughts, make people obey his orders. He also makes sure that the Others (vampires, werewolves and supernatural beings in general) are behaving themselves towards humans, i.e. not kill humans, not feed by unwilling humans, not makes themselves known to humans.

Meet Reggie. Reggie is trying to get over Greg and she does not treat sex lightly. One night Reggie and her four best girlfriends agree to help each other to find a way to live their wildest sexual fantacies. Reggie is the most hesitated, but she eventually will be convinced to meet a wanna be vampire and be bound, spanked and dominated since this is her hidden fantasy.

Dmitri and Reggie will meet at the Vampire Ball. He will find his mate ie. A woman he can spend enternity with and never get bored. Reggie, on the other hand, will fulfill her fantacy. It is obvious that the quiet ones are the kinkiest ones...Anyway, she will find out he is a vampire much later. After she has been bitten several times.

Pure entertainment and fun. I really liked this book and I will continue with the series.

Holy crap, this really was a horrible book. I mean , i wish i could enlist one good thing about it. But, nope, no luck there.even the supposedly "witty" quips were not really funny and seemed too thought out for spontaneous situations. You CANNOT just force humour everywhere, there is this thing called 'timing',jeez.

Its starts off with Regina's friends telling her she should participate in the "fantasy fix" which basically means she has to pawn herself off to some random dude and have kinky sex with him for one night , and then forget about him. Now, if i am as reclusive and emotionally deep as Regina is delluded into believeing she is , i would not , i repeat , i WOULD NOT let my friends push me into doing this fantasy fix thing. not only would i not let them push me into it, i would also consider making new friends since my existing ones seem to be raving sex maniacs with the intellectual depth of an autistic goldfish and well , a little too much into each other's sex lives (TMI alert anybody ?) Oh and there are so many other things about her character that make her seem mentally decrepit (even though we are supposed to think she is smart , witty , analytical so on and so forth) .For example, lets ask each other a question today."What does it take to make you realise, the man you're screwing isnt completely human/normal?" I dont know , well things like him talking to me in my frikkin head, hearing all my thoughts.. does that clue u in ? physically incapacitating me making me stay rooted at a spot with his mind, making me feel twelve hands on me when he isnt even touching me(no, she never did question the creepy "phantom hands/tongues"..ugh ) or the fact that he was generally abnormal , overbearing, creepy and very stalkeresque. oh and also , she's just been having creepy vampire dreams about him and his eyes change colours too , but thats cool. so long as he's good in bed, we can just ignore his bizarre behavior and just tell ourselves he is psychic , why even bother asking him when we have such AMAZING abilities of deduction.

Oh and normally i like the brooding, powerful ,alpha male sort. But Misha(dmitri) is just a pushy, chauvinistic ,overbearing idiot ! I mean not only does he not heed to anything she says and fucks her anyway (good thing our heroine was very horny and as mentally endowed as a gurkin otherwise the story would have ended with our hero in jail , for rape and what fun would that be?), he is also always in her head, monitoring her thoughts, and constantly saying objectifying stuff like "tell me who you belong to?"! Oh and that turns her into a "quivering mass of goo" .oh and she considers herself a 'modern feminist',who turns into a pliant minion around him. really , what gives ?But i guess thats all okay since the author periodically keeps reminding us that Misha looks 'yummy and chiselled' and that Regina has a giant rack and amazing lips.

Oh and if all this didnt turn this book into a vortex of bull shit, then the end certainly did the job. wow , i mean the end is so damn abrupt and annoying, i dont even want to get into it.I just .. i just hope the author never meets a real vampire. because according to the author , women clearly have no sense of self preservation or any resilient barriers against pushy, chauvinistic men as long as they are hot.

There are few books that I've bought and read and then promptly wanted to return it so I didn't waste my money. I really wanted to like this book. I really did. I tried to like this book. But in the end, I screamed in frustration a lot and tried hard not to throw this book at the wall.

Let's start with Reggie, the supposed heroine. She's supposedly this independent "modern feminist" but it turns out she likes a bit of the kink. This, in itself, isn't exactly bad. What is bad is how contradictory she is. Time and time again, she asserts her so-called independence only to let alpha male asshat Dmitri shove her head back down on the pillow and tell her she's a good girl when she caves and does exactly as Dmitri says. I'm sorry, but if some guy I'd seen twice followed me on a date with another guy and then sat down with me and said date, I don't think I'd end up being the one who apologizes and promises to be good.

Now, let's talk Dmitri. Warren does good by saying upfront that Dmitri is old school, where he's used to taking women, rather than pursuing them. That I didn't have an issue with since 800 years ago, women didn't have the rights they have now. What I couldn't get on board with was Reggie's incessant apologies about having a backbone and Dmitri's demands. He was calling her his mate during their one-night stand. I'm sorry... CREEPY. Seriously. Not attractive.

Okay, so the plot. I had issues with it, because I couldn't find it. It plays out right, with the ex-fiance banging the crazy vampire chick, but it's really played down. In fact, it sort of fizzles out and the sex takes over for the rest of the book.

About the only good thing about the book, and seriously, probably its saving grace is the sex. There's a lot of it. In a lot of positions. And honestly, it's well written sex.

But really, I'd growled and groaned in frustration so much by the second hundred pages that I just wanted to hurl that book somewhere far away. And now I've done something I've NEVER done before and I hope I never do again.

I took that book back to the store and got my money back, because O.M.G.

I'd sooner read an irritating book than a boring one. At least I get to rage at the former, while I'm getting sleepy with the latter. "One Bite With A Stranger" managed to be both.

To be perfectly honest, I skipped most of Regina/Dmitri first encounter (which took about 1/3 of the book!!!) because of the boring factor. I almost fell asleep, so it was either that or not finish this story at all, which I hate doing. I'm also kind of interested in a few others books in the series, so I decided to give it a go and try to endure suffering. But if the next installments will be equally bad, I'm calling it quits!

The more I think about it, the more I realize this book had no redeeming qualities.
First of all, this should be a novella. Wait, it used to be a novella??? Well, it should remain one.
The writing, the story, the dialogue, the characterization - everything felt terribly old-fashioned. And there was almost no plot to speak of.
The guy was overbearing and pompous and the girl was a typical damsel in distress and a submissive to boot (with lovers and friends alike) . If the author wants me to believe that the character's smart, independent, witty and all that - SHOW, DON'T TELL!!!
Actually, this would be the number one advice to most of the writers out there.
And don't get me started on her nosy friends. Annoying much? Was a "Fantasy fix" aka "fantasy sex" a required activity to be a part of that particular social circle? F*ck that, pardon my french. What pissed me off to no end, was that they practically harassed her into doing it (having sex with a stranger!) against her will. Wow, with such friends who need enemies? But Regina's no better; she should grow a backbone and just say: No!
To add an insult to injury the audiobook narrator irked me the wrong way.

What else can I add? Oh yeah - DON'T READ IT!

this book was incredibly stupid.. i realized once i got to page 300 that about 280 of them were just countless over-detailed long as hell sex scenes. the boldness of their characters clashed together and i didn't feel any passion between them at all as a couple. those nicknames that they kept calling each other were so annoying simply for the fact that they were said after every sentence. whenever regina got angry (particularly the end of the book where her friends came into dmitri's bedroom) she tended to babble like an idiot and her attempt at sounding silly while yelling at them just made her look even more stupid. when i finished the book, i just kind of sat there and asked myself "what just happened?" because basically NOTHING happened but sex. there was no story at all. just sex. so if that's what you're looking for in a book, go ahead and attempt to read this. but if you're the other 99.9% who actually want something that's worthwhile to read, then don't even bother.

This feels like what it is, a rewrite of an erotic novella. I have a copy of Fantasy Fix from several years ago that I never read, probably still do. This feels like an erotic novel with the story and the getting together and hot sex but this version adds to it and I don't think the storyline ends up smooth. The difference is 100 pages which I would have to believe is the background plot, seeing as much of it feels put in later. I'm tempted in searching for the original and reading it. So the plot build isn't felt in the main erotic premise of the set up. It just feels a little disjointed. I've heard that the series gets a lot better in the future novels. Since from about the 8th on they were written as straight PNR, I suspect they might be right. I wonder if I can just skip to . I got this as a audiobook through the library.

So knowing it was an expanded erotic novel, it is really hard to rate. If it was just erotica, I would review it as such and it would probably be a bit higher except for the plot that takes away from the erotic feel. If I rate it as a PNR, the romance is stilted by an unbelievable connection. There is a lot of PNR that do bonded mates, insta love and such, but the type of BDSM tie you up sex that this has, where she is actually in tears and not in a good way, kinda takes away from the bonded mate theme. Hot sex but not through a bond feel, nope. More from a building of trust, which actually was a bit on the harsh side. Not a bonded mate connection. So the romance for a PNR doesn't jive either.

Not sure whether I will continue though I'm thinking of skipping through to the 9th just to see. I really liked the first couple of Warren's Gargoyle series.

I first read this one years ago, probably around the time it first came out in 2003, and it's always been one of my favorites. And this review relates to that original version, which I still have in PDF form.

The author creates a wonderful intensity of attraction and emotion between Regina and Dimitri that sizzles off the screen. The pacing of the story is good, with things between them progressing slowly but steadily, until Everything gets wrapped up incredibly quickly in the last chapter or two, detracting a bit from the work as a whole. Still, a wonderful book, and one I would highly recommend to anyone that's into paranormal romances that include a whole lot of sex.

Okay, so this was a short story by Christine Warren for Elora's Cave, an erotica publisher, and she expanded it to bring it out of retirement, as she will with several other of her ebook short stories. I could not put it down, but conversely I don't think that it was all that incredible a read. Her other "Others" stories are better by far. Next up is You're So Vein, and I hope it does a better job showcasing the NY Others after the unveiling, than this one did as the 6th book, written as Book 1. I liked the heroine, the next book is like 6 years later and about her friend Ava. I hope it's as good as the rest of the series. This book was good, but I think the erotica and the bondage were just too much for me. after the first 100 pages, I got into the characters and the story.

I really tried. One Bite of a Stranger is actually a rework of Warren's Fixed series starter Fantasy Fix which I did read, but didn't love. And I purchased One Bite fully intending to see how Warren spiffed up the book and brought it from novella to novel, but I just couldn't get past the beginning of the book. I found Reggie's first interlude with Dmitri to be so potential-serial-killer-creepy that I couldn't go on. I am not a big fan of the dom/sub thing anyway and where I could see these kind of games working with someone you actually trust, with a stranger it just bugged me so much that I wasn't enjoying the book - so moved on to one I did.

This book opens with our main character, Regina McNeill, drunk as a skunk with a bunch of girlfriends at her apartment. But Reg sobers up pretty quickly when they bring up the "Fantasy Fix" that they all agreed to. The Fantasy Fix is where the ladies in this group (5 total I believe) all write down some of their fantasies - and then the group picks one of their fantasies and they help her find a man to make it come true. Sadly Reg was engaged when they came up with the idea so she had no problem agreeing to it - because she didn't have to participate. But now that she has had some time to get over her cheating ex-Fiance Greg, her friends have decided that it is time for her to get her freak on.

So when her friends badger her into writing down her fantasies - she has a flash of brilliance and decides to write impossible stuff down like a date with an alien, Bigfoot, Elvis (Still alive and in good shape)or a vampire. And for her fifth fantasy? Well, she's run out of silly juice at this point so she just writes down, to be bound, spanked, and dominated by a sexy, commanding brute. Yeah.

So her friends draw two fantasies for her (She did miss two rounds so she has to catch up) and they pull Vampire and spank time out of the bucket. Reg thinks she has them - there is no way they can produce a Vampire - but the penalty for not getting a friends fantasy filled is a whole month of celibacy (Really? Is that a struggle for most women?) and so they decide to take her to the Goth Vampire Ball down town and set her up with a Vampire wanna-be. (ick.)

So when the day comes Reg goes with them to the bar - in a tight corset and leather pants and boots. She sits with her friends sipping her drink and taking in the entire environment. Then, when she ambles to the bar for a refill her eyes lock on a yummy meat popsicle named Dmitri Vidame. The moment their eyes locked they were both instantly attracted and intrigued. Reg tries to brush off the advances of Dmitri (who later insists on being called Misha) but part of his vampire goodness (what - you didn't see that coming?) is that he can read her mind - so he knows what buttons to push and sure enough - they are back at her apartment in the blink of an eye.

The rest of the book is how they circle each other to learn how to deal with their attraction and a minor mystery that seems very second fiddle to Reg and Misha making a love connection.

Even though I enjoyed the book it is not one of my favorites. I have a hard time with a girl who lets her friends set her up to have random sex with a guy she never met when she really doesn't want it. (Or at least she is written like she doesn't want it - but goes ahead with their plans - contradictory and annoying.) I have a hard time with her having hot monkey sex with Vlad....er....Dmitri when she doesn't really know a think about him. And the first sex scene was like - 50 pages long which was really a little too much. When you get 1/3 of the way into the book and have yet to discover a real plot - it makes me twitch a little.

Once I got past the first sex scene and some daylight sanity started to leak into the characters I found myself enjoying it more and it read really quickly.

Regina is still getting over her breakup with cheating Greg when her four friends, Ava, Corrine, Missy and Danice, decide it's her turn to be "fixed" - the Fantasy Fix, where they make a fantasy come true for one of them. It's Reggie's turn and they won't hear no, so she writes down some nonsense fantasies like being abducted by aliens and being seduced by a vampire, but then runs out of ideas and puts down a real fantasy: being spanked, bound and dominated.

Her friends take her to the Vampire Ball where people dress up and pretend, but Reggie doesn't hang around to meet the man Ava's set up for her: she's been captivated by a dark, handsome stranger with psychic powers. They end up back at her apartment where some really sexy things go down, and he - Dmitri Vidame, born 1199 - comes to realise that she's his mate, and no one else is going to have her.

This is a short, quick book to read, entertaining and sexy and with just enough of a subplot to maintain it without crowding out the sex. Let's face it, that's what we really want, right? Well Warren delivers! There's nothing fancy about the prose, the characters aren't particularly strongly developed, but the chemistry between Misha (Dmitri) and Regina is intense enough that none of that really matters. And I liked the dig at Feehan's Carpathian books: "He needed no woman to return light and joy to his life, nor did he require love to keep him from turning evil as he aged" (p126) - it made me laugh :D I appreciated Warren taking the vampires back to the basics, and I like these books when they combine various kinds of supernatural beings like werewolves and faeries etc. There's an honesty and simplicity to this story that helps ground it in the growing relationship between two people. Definitely recommended.

One Bite With A Stranger

Regina is definitely NOT my kind of heroine - she is a closet submissive who, despite her claims of independence, allows her friends to bully her and her lover to manipulate and control her. Dmitri is your typical alpha male with no real characterization.

The world building is virtually non-existent with some hints about a council of some kind and cooperation between vampires and shapeshifters. The suspense plot is underdeveloped and when the resolution comes around it is complete in less that one chapter.

If I hadn't read a couple of books later in the series and I didn't know that the world building and plots improve, I wouldn't bother continuing.

The spicyness was there don’t get me wrong. But the fact that there was a half ass plot I wasn’t a fan of. The whole book took place in what a week ? The ending / plot seemed rushed and random. Her friends busting in was cute to save her at the end but also seemed like they were to easy going. Idk there was wonders of spice but not enough of plot. Kinda seemed all over the place with minor random scenes

For months now, Regina's friends have been indulging in a sexual fantasy game they have dubbed "Fantasy Fix". They all have to put their most secret sexual fantasies in a hat and after a fantasy is picked, the friends must do their best to find a guy who can fulfill it for them. After evading her turn for as long as possible, her friends cheerfully coerce her to join their game. Thinking to make her fantasies as difficult as possible to fulfill, she smugly lists her 5 choices. A date with an alien, Bigfoot, Elvis or a vampire. And for her fifth fantasy? Well, she's honest with herself for once so she writes down, to be bound, spanked, and dominated by a sexy, commanding brute. (That's right, it's always the quiet ones.) Since the penalty for being unable to fulfill her fantasy is a month of celibacy, her friends wrack their brains and remember the Vampire Ball. They cheerfully drag her to it dressed in skintight black leather pants, stiletto boots and a corset. She should fit right in with the other leather clad goths milling around the ball, but to Dmitri Vidame, she definitely stands out from the crowd. Dmitri was on the hunt for a rogue vampire when he caught sight of the beautiful Regina. Reading her thoughts, he was amused by her lively mind and sharp wit and using a little vampire persuasion, quickly led her out of the club and back to her apartment. Regina's friends thoughtfully supplied her with a bag full of "implements" that they thought might come in handy for her wild night on the town and Dmitri makes quick work of it's contents. Before Regina knows what's happening, she's naked and bound to her bed and he's looking at her as if she's a tempting feast. Misha has been alive for over eight hundred years and never has he been so tempted by a woman before. He has finally found that elusive mate and he means to keep her. He tries to slowly introduce her to the fact that he's an eight hundred year old vampire, but when an Other targets her, he's got no choice but to show her what he is and hope that she doesn't freak out too badly because he has no intention of letting her go.

At first, Misha seemed too calmly composed during their first wild romp. He employs a very strict and commanding persona with her for their first time and it was a little off putting, to me at least. He soon warms up though and when he produces some toys, I thought this was going to be a seriously kinky ride. Luckily, or unluckily, those toys were just for show and Misha gives Regina the hottest, steamiest, most orgasm inducing night of her life. What began as a one time fantasy fix for her, became something permanent for both of them. He gives her space during the day, but at night, he comes back for more and more. Misha can read her thoughts and when he's away from her, he enjoys touching her mind. There he learns of her ex fiance and when he finds him attacking her, he's instantly on alert. It seems Regina wasn't as unaware of the Others as she thought but since Misha is the head of the Council of Others, he's more than equipped to see to her safety.

After their first wild sexual encounter, the sex between Misha and Regina tones down a little and becomes much more tender and loving, while still being quite thrilling. There is one hot opera scene that I just moved up to the top of my own fantasy list. Think of the rise of opera tickets! Misha was sexy and commanding, and just a touch intimidating when he wanted to be. He was also surprisingly funny and had a great sense of humor. Regina was shy and quiet but she too had a great sense of humor and a nice solid backbone when the occasion called for it. Regina's friends are concerned about her sudden involvement with the gorgeous Misha and when they find out he's a vampire, they try and stage an intervention. This book was a funny mix of the comical and the sensuous and was filled with interesting world building by Christine Warren.

This is ‘kind of my second read One Bite With a Stranger. I read the original book when it was part of her Ellora's Cave Fixed series.

I was actually looking to do a reread when I found out the Fixed series was being rewritten and added to The Others series. I was surprised but I bought book one again and started to read.

At first it was pretty much exactly like the original book but then things started to change and honestly? There is one part of the book where I know something else happened in between events and it is even mentioned by the characters that it happened but in never happens in this book. It is not there at all, the chapter ended before it happened.

So I was a little confused when the characters made mention of the event happening when it did not happen in this book. It kind of pulled me out of the story for a minute and then I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Even now! LOL

I loved Misha, he was super old world and was very dominate and possessive. He was also a vampire so it couldn’t get much better.

Reggie was strong and independent—she was also pretty afraid to admit her desires at first. She was very sexually submissive; she and Misha clicked perfectly in their desires. However Reggie was very clear that she was only submissive in bed and had no problems running her own life. Misha understood this and even though he had ‘dominate overlord down to a fine art he never pushes Reggie to submit in any time outside of the bedroom.

One thing my feelings are clear on with both books though is that I didn’t like Ava. She was the head of their friend group and I honestly thought she was a bitch and wanted to smack her, or for Reggie to smack her and tell her off. To me it felt like she wanted to control her friends lives even though it is mentioned that she is very protective of them.

Overall though I really liked it. One Bite With a Stranger was hot, sexy and even though a rewrite and release it had a good bit of content that was not in the original so it kept me guessing. However, I think I liked the original one in the Fixed series better.

Why is this book listed as romance? I felt angry reading it, like I just wanted to reach out and throttle the woman. The "fantasy" played out more like rape than anything, and the love scenes that we've come to expect in PR was stretched out FAR too long. Even calling this erotica would be a stretch, IMO.
In a change of pace from her other books (which I flip through poorly written backstory until I find dialouge or smut), I actually found myself skipping past the sex in hopes that I'd find some sort of plot. It seems like it was added as an afterthought, as if the first 200 pages snuck up on her and she suddenly had to put some sort of resolution in.

Regina and her friends has started "fixing" each others erotic wants, their amorous desires =) by writing down their fantasy and someone of their friends sets them up.
Now that Regina has dumped her cheating ass of a man, they want to give her something extra, but Reggie doesn´t want to play, so she asks for vampires and submission, believing that they´ll never pull this off.
Arriving at the goth bar, she catches the eye of Dimitri, who turns out to be just that - a Vampire.. Getting all her desires fullfilled, she soon can´t resist his charms and dominance.
Lots of smutty fluffy smexin and friends who want what´s best for you.
A quick, fun read.
