“Our day of reckoning will come, though not for some years. Know this; you cannot die unless I allow you to. I can cause you to suffer a limitless amount of agony if I so choose." The Baroness Cynara Saravic to a young Nathaniel Simpson.
After laying waste to the small Washington town of Semelar, the Demon Cynara Saravic leaves the United States with her coveted prize firmly in her grasp. Paving a bloody road of death and despair, that leads her from a remote village in Northern Mexico through the very home of the Roman Catholic Church, Cynara returns to her ancestral homeland of Romania to bask in her triumph and enjoy the spoils of her conquest. The ancient soil resonates with the agonized screams of Cynara’s past victims and these bloody ghosts cry out for retribution. The children of these restless victims will converge upon Cynara, intent upon forever purging her evil from the world. Among them will come Nathaniel Simpson and Jimmy Simms, two men driven to pursue a seemingly unstoppable monster, each driven by their own complex motivations of revenge and closure. Together they will join the beautiful and tempestuous Contayza Prowzi…a living weapon forged in the furnace of long-harboured hatred and vengeance…and confront Satan’s favourite daughter.
As Cynara prepares to meet their challenge, she discovers her greatest adversaries are not the engines of revenge that her past evils have set in motion, but rather love and her own conflicted nature.
George Straatman’s epic horror trilogy The Converging continues with the second segment, Mark of the Demon. Part intense horror and part psychological thriller, Mark of the Demon will plunge the reader into the deepest recesses of Cynara Saravic’s dark and twisted soul.
I presently live in Timmins, along with my wife Louise and our four-legged children. If I have come to any great epiphany it is that, collectively, we have neglected our obligation to the earth and its creatures.

Hi George Straatman: After reading the "Converging" I just had to own "Mark of the Demon". As soon as I purchased the novel I eagerly started to read it with much anticipation. Whether it is novels or movies the second release of any trilogy should be better. Unfortunately, that is not the case most of the time. "Mark of the Demon" more than surpassed my already high expectations. The plot was fantastic, it was like a roller coaster ride and my ideas of who would survive the epic battle ended up much differently than I thought! There are two events in the novel that I have never read or watched anything like it. For instance, when Contayza reached the Night Queen through Nathaniel and attacked her evil mind. Another event that is thoroughly fascinating is when Elizabeth attacked herself as an invader, interloper scenario. In my opinion, horror novels are overdone especially since the villains whom live hundreds of years have essentially traditional cultural plots. This is a horror/fantasy novel that does not follow the traditional route and I recommend this novel to anyone whom is a fan of either horror or fantasy. To sum it all up, it is an excellent book that brings a reader to new heights in the horror/fantasy realm. An admiring fan, Brian.
What I've learned in this book is that nothing appears as it seems! I found myself reading 50 pages at a time I could not put it down.It kept me guessing from the start and blew me away when I got to the end! The twists and turns in this sequel is more than exceptional. It's brilliantly merged with many different characters and plots that it's fast paced thrill ride leaves many a possibilities open to the readers imagination. This definitely leaves you with the last thoughts of I can't wait to see how it all ends and you want to rush and get the third book not to be left hanging! A must read!!!!
Few authors can equal their first success with a great sequel. In "The Converging: Mark of the Demon", George Straatman has exceeded his first effort. In addition to an enviable mastery of story, plot, characterization, and description, he has added the skill of making even the landscape seem ominous. He deftly weaves subplots, horrors that the viewer sees and the protagonists do not suspect, into a chilling series of nightmares. Noose after noose tightens as the ultimate evil spins an inescapable web of terror. Again Mr. Straatman has demonstrated that he deserves a place amongst the masters of horror. This novel too, is a must read for all dark horror fans.
Again, I cannot rate this novel...but I can provide a gentle suggestion that if anyone is looking for a horror series that is dark, intense and driven by a strong female antagonist, this series just might be worth considering
