Dwarf the Bounty Hunter’s going to Portland, Oregon, and the hounds are going with him.
Eight humans all marked with dark magic are losing their mind, terrified of a demon that doesn’t exist. Keep Portland Weird just took on a whole new meaning. They need a bounty hunter.
Johnny Walker is ready to clean up the streets and get back to his quiet front porch in the Everglades. He’s that good.
But a clue to an old case comes up where he least expects it. The Red Boar’s drug ring has spread across the country like a poisonous vine, wrapping around the one place no one dares tread with the bounty hunter. The murder of his daughter.
Fools.
Johnny Walker has thought about cold hard justice for too many years. Time to bring it home.
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
I've not the previous books in the series or any other but I completely gulped this audiobook up. It was so much fun and very entertaining to listen to. I love these kinds of crime novels with a different kinds of characters than what I usually read in crime fiction. A bit of fantasy, bit of crime and a bit of humour and action make it a highly entertaining book to listen to!
I always wait as long as I possibly can before reading a Martha and Michael collaboration. I know that sounds silly, but whenever they get together, the result is so well done that when I finish it, it’s almost like going into withdrawal. Waiting for the next book is like torture. The characters are like close friends and you have to see them again. By the way, if you haven’t figured it out yet, this is a fantastic read.
This KU library selection continues the story of Johnny Walker, dwarf bounty hunter for the FBI. He and his partner have been given a new case, this one in Portland, Oregon. Just where Johnny wants to be. Along with the two verbose coon hounds, Luther and Rex. This book has even more dog chatter, Johnny is still keeping the secret of the collars to himself, Lisa is amazingly patient, and Book Four is now out on KU.
Love this series. My favorite part are the coon hounds. Dogs have 🐕🐶 always been a major part if my life and there have been many time I could almost imagine what they are trying to say. But that's not to day the action scenes aren't awesome. Along with the character building, as always. Special love the cameos of Mr Brownstone and Leira. If you haven't checked those series it, while this series can stand in it's own, reading this series will just as to your enjoyment and provide answers to any questions you may have about the will developed world this book takes place in. One more Martha and Michael have teamed up to give is another wonderful book/series. With the world going crazy at this time, it's always great to enter another world that had me laughing out loud.
With Amanda now attending the new Academy of Necessary Magic - a place that only existed, because of Johnny Walkers' gift of land & money, plus the generous help of James Brownstone, and Leira Berens - this will now be both home, and school, to over 100 children, who will probably be future Bounty Hunters!
But Johnny had got used to Amanda being with him in his home, and was at a loss what to do with himself, now he'd got used to her being there!.
So, he decides to read the Case File that Agent Tommy Nelson had given him, that contained details he hadn't been aware of, in the murder of his daughter, Dawn!
After finding out just how many things had been kept from him, you'd think Johnny would welcome a visit from Agent Nelson, plus Lisa Breyer, if only to find out why, wouldn't you?
Unfortunately for them, he didn't.
But, that visit started a whole new adventure for Lisa, Johnny, and his canine companions, Rex and Luther!.
I REALLY Love those two crazy hounds! Lol
I'm really loving the character of Johnny Walker, too - although his calling every woman "darlin'", can make me grit my teeth a little - but that's something I let go past, as I do enjoy his shenanigans!
Well, now I've finished this, I want to go straight on to book four of this great series: 'Zero Dwarfs Given', so I can catch up on my fave people - and Johnny's hilarious Coonhounds! Lol
So, without ado, I'm off to start reading it, and I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it, once I've done so!
So Luther and Rex are more involved in making Johnny look insane around Lisa He falls into a bottle after dropping Amanda at the new school he got involved with as well as James Brownstone and lira berans their in some other books by these group of authors and they are just as crazy I mean interesting they go in some very out of this world directions but Johnny finally sat down to look at Lucy’s file ( hence the reason for falling into the bottle) he also ignored some calls from his favorite fed( Lisa and not so favorite fed butt bitten) they show up at his house about a new case in Portland the same place his investigation into his daughter death happens to be in the form of her best friend any way it all comes together sort of so can’t wait for next boom
Johnny Walker, dwarf bounty hunter, has his life shaken up when his werewolf teen ward Amanda goes off to boarding school and he finally gets his hands on his murdered daughter, Dawn’s case file. His part elf partner Lisa wants him to take on a case in Portland and since Dawn’s old friend also lives there he finally agrees. Between searching out clues about Dawn’s murder and looking for a “demon terrorising humans in Portland, Johnny has his hands full in the city. The worst of it is, Portland considers itself a progressive city, which has trendy bars that don’t stock Scotch whisky, practically no heavy metal entertainment and crazy cyclists.
Another will written fantasy world 🌎 haunting demon monster witch adventure thriller novel by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle (Dwarf Bounty Hunter book 3). Johnny Walker and Lisa travel to Portland, Oregon too investigate what is effecting humans. They are struggling to find out what is happening but then a lead takes then too the solution and a fight with a witch. Four days find them back in the Florida Everglades. I would recommend this series and author to 👍readers of fantasy adventure thriller mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening. 2022 😮👒😈
I had no idea where this episode would go, & I was thrilled & happy to have been stumped. A double batch of trouble, a Fed, a bounty hunter & Dad & 2 doing ounce make the rounds & save many days for many folks.
I'm gonna miss Johnny Walker in Black & his magical partner. But mostly, I'll mis Red & his silly, mushroom-eating brother, Luther. They always make my day. Oh, can we have more of Amanda in the next episodes. Like helping Johnny on a school break? That sounds pretty cool. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all & Healthy Holidays to you.
Read books in order. This is a fast paced story Johnny Walker is on cleaver and inovative dwarf. He has two goffey, clever, loyal coonhounds-which he can communicate with telepathically. sometimes gets him in trouble, when it appears he is talking to himself. His daughter was murdered 16 years ago, he retired as a bounty hunter from the agency... he still takes jobs on the side. he was told his daughter killer was never found, he wants access to her files, which has been denied....now he has it... the killer was found... now he is ready to find the snake and cut off the head..... with the help of a light-elf/human as his "partener"... in her mind.. I recommend this series, funny, fast paced just when you think you figured it out... wrong!
Are demons in Portland, Oregon really enough to get Dwarf Bounty Hunter Johnny Walker to leave his beloved Everglades home?
When eight disparate Portland residents start acting crazy and accusing a female demon of trying to take everything from them, FBI agent (and half light-elf) teams up with angry dwarf Johnny Walker to try and discover who (or what) is trying to cause chaos, but Johnny's not just there for the demons, can he get a step closer to whoever ordered his daughters death?
Martha Carr does it again! She always spins a fantastic take that can't be put down and leaves you begging for more. Rex and Luther are hilarious as always. Thanks for the journey and I can't wait for the next one! I'm so glad you, Michael and the whole crew put out books every month. At 1 a day or so I've always got something great to read. I'm eagerly awaiting another.
Another excellent up roaring tale following Johnny Walker's exploits as he renters bounty hunting for the things that go bump in the night.
His ward is off to magical school and Johnny is both missing her and deep into finding out who killed his daughter fifteen years ago. His half Light Elf partner is growing on him, and his talking dogs are driving him crazy when the FBI wants him to take a weird case in Portland, Oregon.
I jumped into this one last night and finished this morning. I throughly enjoyed the time spent in Portland chasing down leads to an old case close to Johnny's heart. The team is also chasing leads on a new case with magical implications. I can't wait for the next book out next month.
Johnny, his hounds and his FIB partner head to Portland. Johnny apparently does have feelings but is still trying to be his stubborn, taciturn self. Not much magic in this story but still a solid adventure as Johnny's backstory fills in a little more while he and Lisa investigate two mysteries with ties to Portland.
Martha and Michael, thanks so much for what you do. I read everything you produce and it is, almost without exception, excellent! I don't leave a lot of reviews, cos I literally read, we'll just say hundreds of books a year, but you two always get five stars. You may not realise it, despite much praise being thrown your way, but you have made a lot of people's loved better through this pandemic. Good luck to you both and thank you.
Amanda is at the academy. This frees Empty Nester Johnny to feel a little sorry for himself and then start the hunt for who ordered Dawn's death. Throw in a "demon" plaguing humans in Portland and life gets interesting.
I love the way Martha Carr and Michael Anderle bring growth to their characters. It's a realistic progression and makes for great reading. Here I am at book three and thrilled to know there are nine left. So keep reading the adventures of the Dwarf, Rex and Luther and you'll find yourself loving more characters created by two extremely talented writers
Great book but this should have been the next book
Unbelievable missed opportunity! Brownstone and Johnny teamed up to tame a batch of kids and not able to shoot anyone? That would have been a fantastic book. I'm so disappointed that book was not written.
This book was a great read but it could have been Epic.
Bout time he grew a pair.... LOL These are really some of the best Oriceran stories and if you like this universe, you're gonna love them too!!! Howard S (the S stands for Super Fan!)
An extremely funny, but eerily accurate view of Portland. A lot of laughs to go with the mysteries. The world of Johnny Walker continues to take shape and remains entertaining.
Johnny, Lisa and the boys are heading to Portland to investigate an alleged demon. With all the patchouli, bad music and tiny little meals this is not one of Johnny's preferred destinations. Every bit as funny as the first one
I enjoyed reading this book. I like the characters, the story, many of the books by the authors. This one was not what I expected it delved more into Johnny's mind than I expected.
I’m so glad the dogs secret finally came out, it will add another dimension to the partnership I think. The characters are becoming more interesting as the story and universe fills in, so I definitely recommend this series.
Johnny, Lisa and the hounds never fail to impress while on a case. Very creative and so addicting! Portland has met its match. Now I have to go find me a shot of Jonny Walker red before I start the next book.
So, each book gets better and better. The characters become more and more like old friends. That's happening here too. The characters are getting closer to one another as well. On to book four!!!
While it still has too much foul and blasphemous language, the story was a little different and did further the interactions between Johnny and Lisa. None of these stories is all that deep or complicated, but they are an enjoyable read.
