He’s my ex’s brother. A terrifying mob boss with a past too dark to share. And when he finds out I’m pregnant, he becomes something else, too: The husband I never asked for.
Kolya Uvarov crashed into my life at a funeral and saved me from a mega-creep. Classic meet-cute, right? Not exactly—because it was his brother we were burying. A.k.a., my ex-boyfriend. A.k.a., the man who hit me, stormed out the door, then died in a car crash before I could ever tell him about our baby.
But Kolya knows the secrets I’m hiding. Kolya has a plan for how to handle them. And Kolya just leaned down, smelling like vanilla and sin, and whispered seven little words in my ear. From now on, you belong to me.
SAPPHIRE SCARS is the first book in the Uvarov Bratva duet. Kolya and June’s story continues in Book 2, SAPPHIRE TEARS.
Nicole Fox writes smart, sexy mafia romance novels. She is a crazy cat lady in her late 30s with a coffee addiction, an overactive imagination, and a husband who somehow puts up with her impulsive need to keep buying new plants for their house.
this book had a lot of potential, but after each chapter, my armour cracked, and I found myself slowly despising June—and I HATE hating the FMC.
and, as always, I’ll be doing this in bullet points.
1. June is weak. She quickly accepts her being kidnapped. She accepts that her life was quicken taken away from her, and Kolya says she should be THANKFUL he took her from her life. And every. Single. Time. Kolya. Does. Something. She. Remembers. She’s. Kidnapped. And. Gets. Pissed. It’s the most repetitive thing and it got annoying after the second time.
2. This is a continuation of my June rant. SHE KNOWS THAT KOLYA WANTS HER BECAUSE OF THE BABY. SHE SAYS ONE (1) TIME “my baby won’t be a don, etc BUT APPARENTLY DOESNT GIVE ANY CRAP THAT HER BABIES FUTURE/LIFE IS AT JEOPARDY BECAUSE KOLYA DOESNT WANT TO MAKE HIS OWN HEIR. like she made ZERO effort to try to save herself from the kidnapping situation after the first few chapters. And yes, I wished she starved herself to prove a point. But instead, she happily goes to dinner when Kolya threatens food won’t be brought to her.
3. Genova. Where did this girl come from. Let’s start from the beginning and say: June doesnt have a good relationship with her sister. Hell, for the entire book, their relationship is STILL BAD. so I’m confused as to the relevance of Genova, besides her OBVIOUSLY BEING THE MOLE FOR RAV. she literally appeared and it’s like we suddenly forgot that June said she had a bad relationship with her parents/sister. Matter of fact, both of the sisters have no redeeming qualities, so maybe they are related.
4. I hate how Adrian turned out twisted. I feel like it’s an overused plot, and it’s gotten frustrating. Why couldn’t he have been nice? Why does their entire relationship had to have been a lie? Speaking of Adrian
5. I love how June hears a story about the girls pimp and hears that he has a ring that Adrian had, and INSTANTLY believes Adrian was the pimp. Literally no benefit of the doubt. No proof. Nothing.
6. Back to June because I honestly despise her. She accepted her marriage to Kolya so quickly it’s revolting. How someone called her Mrs. Uvarov and didn’t correct her/didn’t feel even the slightest bit angry that Kolya was forcing her into a marriage. But OH! That’s not right because readers won’t like that (pretty sure this plot actually happened in another book and I hated it) so what does Kolya do? He offers her an out while simultaneously admitting her loves her. What’s a girl gonna do but accept the marriage anyways? Maybe I’m the problem here. So far, I’ve only liked ONE kidnapping romance because it was done right, and this one didn’t. I felt no love for the characters, they were so bland to me. That could be because June literally has no life outside of Kolya.
7. Genova had a point. What was in it for her? Why did June go along with Kolyas plan? Because I STILL don’t know why, especially in the beginning. Kolya was the only one who knew of her existence, no one was aware of the baby, so she would have been safe if he never brought her into his world. HE put her in danger, but he swears he’ll protect her?? YOU ARE THE ONE WHO RISKED HER LIFE.
I’m obviously going to read the next book because I’m a masochist. But I really hope Adrian actually did love June, because I refuse to believe everything they had was fake. And maybe she’ll actually have a personality this time. At least, a personality that doesn’t resemble someone with no backbone.
I loved the Oryolov duet, found the first in the Viktorov duet ok, but Kolya is on Ruslan's level. Fantastic start. The relationship aspect is messy given that June's boyfriend is Kolya's brother and there's also a secret to their past, so there's a lot needing to be resolved. Hopefully it will wrap up nicely.
This is start of the Uvarov Bratva series it will leave you hanging until the second book so be prepared to wonder where they are headed and buckle up this is a wild ride, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!!!!! June’s life hasn’t been easy living with her boyfriend he was abusive to her, so coming home to find him drunk another night she kicks him but not before he slaps her hard enough to draw blood, never getting the chance to tell him about the baby she is carrying and that night when he gets into a accident she is called in to identify his body fainting resulting in her being rushed to the hospital where she learns she is pregnant. Kolya sexy as all out brother attending his funeral wasn’t a part of his plans yet he is still burying his brother, meeting the women his brother abused wasn’t part of the plans or finding out she was pregnant with his child has him thinking and the day he runs into her after leaving the doctor he makes the decision to kidnap her for himself, he needs to marry and who better than his brother’s ex-girlfriend and he will not allow his nephew/niece to raised outside of the bratva too dangerous so he takes her under the disguise of protection. However, what neither of them expected was the attraction and the magnetic pull between the them especially the more she learns about him underneath the ruthlessness, there is a man with a heart but don’t get it twisted he will kill you where you stand in a hot minute if crossed or attempt to harm those he care about but will she marry him like he wants, is he really protecting her or attempting to control her, can she trust what he says, will he continue to keep her in her beautiful cage or allow her freedom, will he love her baby as a father, and where are they headed because the ending will keep you hanging?.

Not him purposefully slamming hard on the breaks, knowing fully well that that MC is pregnant. Wtf??? Maybe it gets better, but I’m not sticking around to find out 😬
This was book 1 "Uvarov Bratva" series. This was a pretty good book. June has had with her drunk boyfriend Adrian and when he hits her again she puts him out only to be woken up by the police telling her he died on a car accident. While in the hospital she also learns that she is pregnant. June meets Kolya at his funeral Kolya is the Don of a Bratva. This was a really good read with a lot of action in it. June is on a tug of war between two men well the other guy wants her dead. As June and Kolya get to know each other they begin to fall in love only its surrounded with lies and secrets. I love reading this authors work this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I've read a lot of books written by Nicole Fox; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the first book in the Uvarov Bratva Series; it is the beginning of a new series. The story continues in the next book and needs to be read in order.

Look, if you like the stereotypical, weak willed, stupid, naive women in romance novels that have no backbone and make all the stereotypical decisions then this book is for you.
This book was fantastic. It follows June and Koyla who cross paths when a tragic event strikes. Koyla is the terrifying mob boss, the ex’s brother and the husband she never asked for. I highly recommend going into this book blind but be mindful of triggers.
This book gave me all I wanted in emotions from characters, plot and just the perfect amount of spice. The plot just kept me gripped and wanting more now that I have finished it left me on a major cliffhanger. Also, I know some people may not be a fan of accidental pregnancy but you learn it early on and it’s in the blurb.
The only two things I want to mention are: 1. A character was justifying and making excuses for certain actions and this made me furious but so glad it was cleared up so the character realised this and opened up about it 80% in. So happy it was resolved in my eyes. 2. Pregnancy is throughout this book but sometimes I was curious how many weeks the character was along at certain points but honestly didn’t know. Not a major issue just curiosity.
An overall fantastic read that kept me gripped just make sure you have the next book as the story continues

Damn! Who saw the end (a mega cliffhanger) coming? Not me!!
A great story. A story that pulls you in and doesn't let go. A story that begins with a death and the learning of new life. A life she didn't see coming when she is taken to a big house and locked up. The new life in her that seems more important than herself. A man so sinister and full of violence who slowly conquers her heart, as she conquers his. Finding out that your dead friend's brother is keeping you, that your life is in danger without his protection. But also that you are nothing more than a pawn in the world of Bratva, that you carry with you a Don's heir, even if it is not his child but his blood.
So much that happens in the story surrounding June and Koyla and so much that will keep you on edge. Simply beautiful! And closing the book with such a cliffhanger makes you want to read the sequel ...... must read!
Highly recommended.

Spoiler alert!!! But I feel I must in order to mention some triggers.
Finally, she is back! I will just say, I'm relieved to read such a great story, thought you lost your touch girl! So, wow! Great stuff, excellent portrayal of a domestic abuse victim, while giving her strength and not making her broken. Touching subjects like miscarriage is just a warning far all of you, but it was intense, emotional, and raw. Also touching on being in a relationship with an alcoholic/related to one. There were there usual scenes of violence, and one near rape.
The first half of this was frankly brutal when i think about it, gosh! But that's not what made me love it (though come on, we all love the idea of a man who loves us enough to kill to protect us... In theory... in a book... from a non blood spattered standpoint), I loved the characters. Their growth. They grew together, towards each other even as they tried to pull away. But they really are incredibly engaging, as are certain secondary characters. Even the annoying sister has her part to play, and is more complex than given credit for (who didn't see that coming a mile away?)
Now the cliffhanger, I didn't see that. I mean, briefly at the beginning i thought the completely roasted body with only his ring was weird, but forgot about it, so it managed to catch me by surprise.
I'm dying to know what will happen next, and only hope she doesn't turn this woman into a complete moron who says "i know everything you did and are and i hate you" and gets herself in stupid situations needing a man constantly. Because then I will be really annoyed.

Let me start out by saying that Nicole Fox is one of my favorite authorsand she can't do anything wrong in my opinion so my book review may seem biased to some. With thatsaid let's get into this book review. MMC Kolya Uvarov; Don of the Uvarov Bratva, alpha male with a heart deep down in there somewhere. He is a truth seeker, but ultimate secret keeper. FMC June Cole; naive, but fiesty when required ex dancer, administrativeassistant, with a deny/defend personality for people in her inner circle. The story starts out by June getting into a fight with her alcoholic and abusive boyfriend Adrian Cooper. He leaves home drunk searching for a motel to sleep it off for the night and dies in a car crash. The same night of the crash she discovers sheis pregnant due to her passing out after identifying the body. During the funeral she is approachedby 2 people that claim to either know Adrian or are relatedto him. She's throwedoff kilter because he never talked about anyone from his past. One of the 2 people is Kolya (who is Adrian's brother but that is not known to June at the time). 3 months later during an office visit at the OBGYN she runs into Kolya who basically kidnaps her and moves her in with him. The action in the book takes off from there. If spicy mafia romance is your thing, then this may not be the book for you. Yes thereis some spice, but not smutty level (oh my god!) spice. It's a slow burn, insta love(somewhat), suspense, and action packed mafia romance duet. I can't wait for Book 2, because Book 1's cliffhanger definitelyhas me feeling WTF just happened!!!.

Nicole Fox has done it again! I am loving this series. June is just a normal girl who is in a relationship with Adrian Cooper, just a normal guy or is he? Things in their relationship have been a little rocky. After a fight between the two, cops show up at June’s and give her the bad news. Her boyfriend has died in an auto accident. That same night she finds out she is pregnant with Adrian’s child. At the funeral, Kolya Uvarov shows up claiming to be a friend of Adrian’s. From here, things just seem to move FAST! June is forced to go with Kolya for her protection. And from here things get even stranger.
June is up in the air did she ever really know Adrian? He had so many secrets and a background she knew nothing of. Kolya fills June’s head with all these little tidbits. Has this relationship been a lie? There is lots of drama, violence, betrayal, deception, lies, passion, misunderstandings, and lots of twists and turns. You start thinking one way, then bam, something happens and you’re like, wow, I did not see that coming. This ends on a cliffhanger and I am on pins and needles waiting to read it! I love a great book with great characters and a story that makes you think! Bring on the next one! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story is going to gut you in all the best ways. There is so many secrets, lies, betrayal, and love within these pages that you are going to be thrown into a wild story that will suck you in on every page.
June has been loving her boyfriend Adrian even though their love has been more downs then ups. However, she keeps making excuses for him and when she finally starts to see the light she loses him and her world is torn apart. When she meets Kolya he is determined to keep her safe but she doesn’t know if she can trust him. In true Bratva fashion he doesn’t give her a real choice and she finds herself at his mercy but for the sake of herself and her baby she is willing to sacrifice her freedom for his protection. June learns several disturbing things from her time with Kolya but she has also grown attracted to him and now she doesn’t know what to do or who to trust. She is torn in many ways but the safety she feels when she’s in his arms is something she’s never felt before.
However, everyone has secrets and when his revealed she doesn’t know what to do and she does the one thing she never thought she’d do…she runs!! This is a duet so expect one h*ll of a cliffhanger! But it is so worth the journey and I can’t wait to read their epic conclusion is the next book. Happy Reading!!.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.
Buckle your seatbelts! Sapphire Scars will take you on a ride. June could have been the girl next door. Her life was a mess and was about to get worse(or is it better). This story has more twists and surprises than you will ever see coming. I will admit it took a couple of chapters to get invested in the story and characters, but once I did.I didn't want to put the book down.
June's life is a whirlwind. She is always putting everyone before herself. Now just when she thinks she has to stand alone, Kolya barges into her life. He is mean, deadly and gruff. The journey for us and her to see into the heart he tries harden is full of ups and downs.
This book does end on a whopper of a twisting cliffhanger. I am ready and waiting for the next in the duet. The characters are flawed people who have had life beat them into who they are now. The plot does have the 'I hate him, I love him, I hate him' formula but there are so many unexpected twists as a reader I just had to know what would happen next. Sapphire Scars has my recommendation for a must read.
Okay, there were some disappointing parts to this. there were interesting ideas, but they just weren’t carried out as good as other mafia romance books that I’ve read. But holy hell, that twist at the end!
I believe if it were a longer book with the plot written with more detail, it could have been really great. Everything just seems rather 2-dimensional, so much so, that I don’t exactly feel fully immersed into the world and the characters. Details like the ages of both the FMC and MMC, their appearances (and what the MMC thought of the appearance of the FMC - how it made him feel emotionally - how it began to chip away at his walls) (also, because the appearance of them was neglected I found it very hard to picture them in my minds eye), background of (more about FMC’s background in dance and more about the MMC’s mafia background could have filled out the book more, making the characters less flat).
I didn’t DNF this book, it wouldn’t have hurt to, but there was still a part of me that wanted to find out what was going to happened next. It did have a lot of potential, but I think it was just neglecting the parts of the book that could have made it better.
A tamer Mafia romance, for me. Still have the Mafia/bratva politics there although feels more like family drama if family drama solve with spilling blood.
Kolya is your usual Bratva Don. Know it all, dominant, his words is the law kinda guy. And when he think keeping secrets is the way to go, that's huge disaster. While June is glass half full kinda woman. With her parents and sister mentally abused her as background, then her ex abusive drunk, her need to see good in people that lead her to naive, actually endearing to me. Dangerous traits, but to be abusive survivor yet still have the good and sweet in her, she is the woman Kolya need.
I can see how the ending in this first book a mile a way, so no suprise there.
The chemistry between Kolya and June was slow burn. Only handfull of smegsi scene with no dirty foreplay so yeah, bummer. Lol
Overall, exited to see how the next book gonna play.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is depressing and boring and the female lead is just ugh. I liked her in the first chapter but throughout the book she’s just something. And oh there’s no chemistry between the main lead. I’d rather see Kolya and his right hand together. Those two have more chemistry tbh.
Even though June was annoying af, I can relate to her as a dancer. Dancer continues dancing even with sprain and injuries.
This book just dragged and the story didn’t flow so well. Some chapter feels like a fever dream. Idk if the main lead is dreaming or in the reality. It’s so fucking confusing.
Also, I didn’t like the story line bc it reminds me of COHO book that I really fucking despise. And how tf did she move on so quickly? She said she loves her deceased ex then she’s in love with Kolya. The love story just feels so unnatural and I hate it.
But thanks to that cliffhanger I might continue the other book.
June gets pregnant by her boyfriend Adrian, before she gets the chance to tell him, he dies in an accident. At his funeral, she meets his brother Kolya who decides to take her into his home for her and the baby's protection (AKA kidnapping). June struggles with the grief of losing Adrian and the guilt of having an attraction towards his brother. I didn't like that Kolya said mean things to June in order to push her away and try keeping his attraction towards her in check. There is tons of angst in this book, I wish it had more spice once they gave into their desires. Secrets start coming out which muddies the water even further between the two of them. This book felt much different from the other Nicole Fox stories I've read, while it was still a great book, it isn't one of my favorites by her. I still look forward to reading the next book in this series to see where June and Kolya's story goes next. It also ends on a big cliffhanger, so be aware of that.

Koyla Uvarov starts out unlike "most" Bratva Dons in Nicole Fox's Mafia books and the differences makes this story unique and I was hooked from the start with this storyline. Meeting June at her boyfriend's funeral which is Koyla's estranged brother, but we are not given those details until later is a very different "meet cute" story. While it might not seem likely, there is a correlation between how both these characters grew up which might be one of the things that draws them together. If you asked Koyla and June whether they might be seeking the love that neither of them received growing up, I am sure they would disagree. Great page turner and there is a cliffhanger at the end that made me glad that I could IMMEDIATELY begin Book Two, Sapphire Tears.

June is in an abusive, manipulative relationship for years. Her long time boyfriend is a drunk and abuses her. One day she gets tired of it and kicks him out. He hits her and takes off. After he leaves, he gets into an accident and dies. June is told and is miserable and faints then ends up at the hospital where she finds out she is pregnant. Kolya is the head of the local bratva, Adrian was his brother and Junes boyfriend. He finds June at Adrian’s funeral. He finds out she is pregnant and vows to take care of her. He kidnaps her to protect her. As you can imagine tensions are high. It was a really good book and I felt the characters connection. I am looking forward to book 2.
Interesting but not sure how I feel about it yet. I was intrigued enough to read really quickly and want to know what happened. Kolya was probably my favorite character but I wanted to scream at him sometimes. Secrets always come out.

Wow, what an absolute adrenalin pumping, fast paced, suspense, twist and turns, secrets, anger, kidnappings, lies, killings, a funeral, confusion, survival, and family. This story was about June and Adrian have been together for a few years and as time went by his drinking was getting out of hand, he went to AAA and received the chip for sobriety, then he would fall into the habit again. They had an argument then he back handed her so she kicked him out unfortunately he died and the police took her to identify the body. At the funeral she met his cousin and his brother Kolya he is the Don for the Bratva, Kolya kidnaps her to confine her to her bedroom he would lock her in with a key. This book is also a duet so I can't wait for the next book.
