Javyous “JV Goldsmith was inches away from having the career he’d worked his entire life for. One misstep and he found himself having to prove he deserved to be in the ring and that was the worst body blow his ego has ever received.
Kehlani James didn’t have much she was proud of except being an amazing mother and business owner. There was no way in the world she could make senes of being married to a celebrity boxer who has recently been condemned by the world for almost killing a man.
What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. JV and Kelani have to decide if one plus one truly equals two. JV has been raised to believe that one woman is never enough and Kelani refuses to become just another story plastered all over the blogs but when two strangers worlds get caught in an entanglement that disrupts everything they can count on, they both find themselves in the biggest fight of their lives.

When what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas goes wrong. Well, that depends on how you look at it. Imagine going to Vegas for your friend’s wedding and kicking it with a couple of strangers with your BFF only to wake up the next morning married to one of those strangers. Welp, that’s what happened to Kehlani. Too many shots of Tequila and sis woke up with a whole new last name. After being suspended for almost killing a man in the ring, JV is on a mission to repair his image and, what better way to do that than to get married. For Kehlani, staying married to JV was easier said than done because, he was not the easiest person to get along with. JV was rude, mean, and ornery but, the financial gain that came along with being Mrs. Goldsmith was needed to grow her business. So, she sucked it up but, best believe, she gave as good as she got. JV was not ready for all that mouth Kehlani was packin. What I really loved about this book was the growth of JV’s character. I just loved watching him mature and become the man Kehlani and the twins needed. He wasn’t necessarily looking to fall in love with his new wife but, when he did, he didn’t fight it. JV embraced that shyt with his entire chest. It was, “My wife this and my wife that very quickly. He and Kehlani were definitely fake marriage goals. Only If It’s You was a sweet and sexy read. This marriage of convenience gives you a good balance of drama, plot twists, and romance. Between the sistah wives and JV’s trash azz daddy, you will be thoroughly entertained. I really hope we get a book on Celeste and Dominique. I know they have plenty of drama to bring. This was my second book by this author and she really did the damn thang. I look forward to reading more from her. Oh and, just a quick note, Ion know who needs to here this (author) but, there is no statute of limitations on murder. When I say Google is free, this is what I mean.
This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it..JV & Lani met in Las Vegas.got drunk and got married.the two were strangers, although they were from the same city. The couple were to stay married for one year to help reshape JV’s image and Lani would get a million dollars for helping him. Of course this couple fall for each other…although upon their initial meeting in the hotel’s bar, they were definitely attracted to one another. Of course with this marriage of convenience comes a little drama & trouble. There’s a lot going in this story…but, I love how JV took to Lani’s twins.he treated her children like they were his almost immediately. The twins fell for him too…such a cute story. I would love to see if Dominique and Celeste will have a story. The second time I listened to the new released audiobook…the male narrator was new to me…and I felt that he did a wonderful job…I would love to listen to more work from him.HOWEVER, the female narrator was terrible! She’s an experienced narrator that definitely requires more practice she narrates…She narrates as if she were reading to kindergarteners and her mispronunciation of the most simplistic words was like nails on a chalkboard..
“Sometimes love comes around and it knocks you down. Just get back up, when it knocks you down. 🥊🥰🥊
This song was definitely the anthem for JV and Lani because neither of them were looking for love but it definitely hit them with that one two K.O.
JV was living his best boxing life like Adonis Creed. He was on top of the world and ringing bells (no pun intended) both inside and outside of the boxing ring. Unfortunately you can be at the top one day and the bottom the very next and this was the case for JV after one impulsive decision nearly ended his career. With the devil on one shoulder (his father) and an angle on the other (his uncle and publicist), he is being pulled in different directions. However those with his best interests at heart convince JV that if anything can save his career it’s the image of JV as a family man.
What happened in Vegas did not stay in there because after one drunken night JV wakes up with more than a hangover! 🗣️ISSA HUSBAND!! 😩😩 Lani said all she wanted was a weekend away from her twins not to come home wife’d up 🥴😵 whew the ghetto 🤣.
Lani and JV had their fair share of drama but once they were locked in, they were LOCKED IN. I really enjoyed this story! JV was an unfiltered no nonsense 🥷 and every time he put Lani in her place, the floodgates opened 💦. This book had just the perfect amount of everything and my only regret was not reading it sooner!
4 1/2 ⭐s “You. I want you. I want us. I want it all. With you. Only if it’s you. I mean Javyous had me swooning.
Javyous was out here living his best life so he thought. He had a growing career as a boxer, he was single but had multiple women at his disposal, and he was rich. Hell life was good. Until a situation took him away from the ring. He was then forced to clean up his image.
One night in Vegas left him in a crazy situationship with Kehlani. She had him mesmerized out the gate. He found himself in new territory, going against everything his father taught him and falling for one woman. She has this man tightening up you hear me. Before long he was enjoying being a family man. I loved his relationship with her twins, he loved those babies. He made them feel special and always answered when they called and made sure they were well taken care of. Javyous was so mannish, he had the sexiest edge about him, he was dominant in all ways, protective, and I loved how he made Kehlani and her babies always feel loved and seen. Yes the BDE was loud and strong.
Their union was not without drama. They navigated the exes, the baby daddy, his parents. So much unfolded and they didn't always handle the situations right, but I enjoyed watching them grow and figure out their love.
Thank you Déja and Taima for recommending this book to me and for always talking about it. It's because of you that I wanted to pick it up soooo badly. I was waiting for the paperback to release, but you know what!! I'm desperate and I've been wanting to read it for SOOO LONG so I decided to just go for it and read it already.
Not a bad choice.
Only If It's You is a sports/marriage of convenience romance between a professional boxer and the woman he marries after a drunken night in Vegas. Because he needs good PR after a bad fight, his people recommend him to have a relationship with someone, so the crowd can see he's a family man, that he cares about his people, etc. So when he drunkenly marries a stranger, his people are like "stay married! now!". Kehlani is the sweetest woman ever. She's a single mom of twins and she just wants to feel like the center of the universe for someone else, you know? She wants to be loved and cared for.
Now, JV was a little over the place at the beginning. He was "dating" two women once because his shitty father taught him that if he wanted to focus on his career, having only 1 woman was not the way. His shitty father stays shitty throughout the whole, he's actually horrible and I'm glad that JV has the support of many people behnid him. So when Kehlani is like "alright I'll stay married with you" she definitely tells him to drop those two other girls. She's not about to become part of his little group. And you know what? JV is smart because he quickly does it. He knows Kehlani is the woman for him so he does it the minute she tells him that lmao.
I love love the relationship between JV and the twins???? SO ADORABLEEEE. He never thought he would have kids with anyone before Kehlani. And now that he is sort of a step-father to the twins, he loves doing stuff with them, takes them everywhere, buys them all the stuff. It was so very cute to see him open his heart to his new family.
So many things happened in this book and it was so entertaining! I had so much fun reading about JV and Kehlani and their huge family of friends, cousins, grannies and more. I love a family that stays present in books and this one had a very beautiful one!˗ˏˋ ˎˊ˗
For the marriage of convenience girlies who love a good romance book, read this asap.
“I want you. I want us. I want it all. With you. Only if it’s you.
Only If It’s You was good! JV & Kehlani had me in such a chokehold. JV is a Boxer and darn good at the sport, while in Vegas for a fight he drunkenly marries Kehlani. JV needs to clean up his image and the marriage is just what he needs from a Public Relations standpoint - but the chemistry between the two was too strong to fake. I loved JV but he was a ticking time bomb; Kehlani definitely balanced him out. I loved how quickly JV fell in line, my good sis Kehlani was like I am here now- let them other girls go! I was silently cheering for this energy. 👏🏾 This story has a good balance of drama, plot twists, and romance. It was such a journey getting to see this couple overcome a fake marriage and falling deeply in love. T’Lyn continues to write books that have me swooning and simultaneously ready to fight the characters. Because JV’s daddy had me hot! I enjoyed this read so much!
I received an unedited ARC copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.**
In books, Las Vegas frequently tends to help couples find one another like a matchmaker city. With Jv and Kehlani, we have a classic case of a marriage of convenience. Kehlani didn't play games with Jv, but she did change his outlook on life by giving him standards. Once Jv managed to get it together, they made a cute couple. I adore the way he cared for her and her kids. There was definitely a balance drama and secrets being revealed going on, and his father was irritating me. People around JV were unable to adapt as a result of this sudden change, therefore he had to cut them off.
“I didn’t like being in the same room as Kehlani because my fucking heart skipped a beat whenever she was around. It was something about those beautiful brown eyes that drew me in and had me wanting to give her fine ass whatever, whenever, and I had just fucking met her.
Javyous Goldsmith is having the time of his life. He doing what he always dreamed about, being a professional boxer, money isn’t a problem and the women come a dime a dozen. So what could go wrong? Well, when JV almost kills a man in a match his career could go bye-bye if he doesn’t change his image.
Kehlani James is a hard-working business owner and mother to six-year-old twins Jocelyn and Messiah. She and her children's father were co-parenting the twins, but of course, he wants that old thing back.
Imagine going to Vegas for your friend's wedding and waking up the next day to discover you’re the one who was married. When I say JV was down bad immediately over Kehlani, this man went against everything he was taught and changed to be the man that Kehlani deserved. He was “my wife this and my wife that. JV wasn’t tolerating any disrespect when it came to Kehlani. And my girl wasn’t playing behind him either, she told that man “Oh yeah, this is the last time I’m going to tell you to get shit with those hoes in order. He went from being a playboy to a family man, the way he loved on them twins, stole my ❤️.
Like with any relationship they were tested but overcame every obstacle in their way. I hope we get to see more of them in the future.
Some of my favorite parts: 1. JV beating Pharaoh's ass! 2. JV teaching the twins to say “I’m a real nigga 🤣🤣 3. JV checking Kehlani behind the way she was speaking to him 🥵🥵 4. JV checking EVERYONE behind his WIFE!!
I listened to this audible and the male nail raider was excellent but that female narrator needs to get her practice on. She sounded like somebody’s grandma trying to read this book.
Book: Only If It’s You Author: T’Lyn Genre: Romance Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🥵🥵🥵🥵
This is my first read by this author and I really liked this love story. It follows a professional boxer, Javyous “JV Goldsmith that got a bad rep for almost killing another boxer in the ring and Kehlani, a single mom of twins and an owner of a beauty bar. Kehlani and JV get married after one drunken night in Vegas and decide again annulling it to help restructure JV’s image (there’s a contract involved). JV is not used to being with one woman as he as raised by his father who always had a harem of women and installed in him that women will get in the way of his boxing career. I feel like Lani cried most of the damn book! JV and his cousin Dominique were my favorite characters. I am not sure how Ms. Phyllis expected JV to react after her secret was revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed the book although I feel that Lani’s character was missing something. I can’t seem to put my finger on it. Still worth the read!
My favorite trope, wake up in Vegas married and not remember it. But there was something about this I just didn’t like.
1. Every hood stereotype you can think of is in this story. 2 the MMC I can’t remember his name, was ignorant. The author tries to dress him up and a leader of the relationship but he was a bully. He put his hands on her one time too many. 3. The entire situation with Ms Phyllis could have been left out it was anti climatic and left questions unanswered. The writing was just ok. I found myself want this book to hurry up and be finished. I did appreciate that, lani story Arc had friends and family that were nurturing and positive. 4. They have nasty sex, the good kind.
I enjoyed this story... some parts I wanted to scream snd some I wanted to laugh. I love how we got to see JV evolve has a man and truly mature...I also loved Celeste and wish she got a book. The dad needed more of an as whooping ... but a really good complete story.
JV be talking crazy. That man doesn’t care who he’s talking to he’s gonna say whats on his mind. I don’t see how Lani made it so far in the relationship.
Then his daddy ain’t worth a dang, and raised his son like it too. Every time he opened his mouth I was like Martin thinking “damn damn damn. Didn’t know what peace felt like with this group lol. Although I really enjoyed Dom and Celeste, they were hilarious.
As far as the narration Georgie missed the mark for me. She gives a lot of emotion and personality to the side characters but the voice for Lani was very monotone, and seemed downtrodden. She also narrated Soul Ties as one of the main female characters and I feel the same happened there. Although it was understood in some instances during that story, it didn’t fit here.
The story was an urban romance story, and yes, I liked it. I'm not giving you any more details. Just kidding... The story was about a boxer who needed a better relationship status to change his image, and man on man; he found a gem. This man had all kinds of drama, and it was okay; that was until he met the one. The way JV transformed for Lani was impressive. There were some editing issues, but they did not detract from the story. A boxer and his lady was a good read.
" I want you. I want us. I want it all. With you. Only if it's you."
JV is an undefeated boxer who is on hiatus due to his last fight ending with almost killing his opponent. Kehani owns her own beauty bar and mother to 6-year-old twins. One drunken night and trip to the chapel in Vegas changes everything for them. These two decide to fake it for 1 year and stay married. JV needs help with his image, and Lani will get 1 million dollars to use to expand her beauty bar. Their chemistry was everything, and them falling in love was inevitable. JV had his moments in the beginning, but I loved how Lani put his butt in check when needed. She did start to go soft towards the end, but I guess that's what love does to you, lol. One thing JV was going to do was tell Lani how fine and beautiful she was. He really stepped up with the twins Messiah and Jocelyn and loved and treated them like his own. The story had it all: love, drama, a good twist, and funny moments. JV's daddy was pure trash and the harem plus Lani's baby daddy, a mess!!! Celeste was a real one, and Nique was funny. I also enjoyed Uncle Press and Ms. Phyllis.
This book was our BOOKCLUB pick of the week and one of my favorite books by this author. I enjoyed reading Jv and Lani story plus the kids in the mix was cute. JV father really made me upset throughout the book and I was happy he gave his mother some grace once her got the entire story. Lani was not playing about her kids and I loved that part of the book. Overall good pick for the BOOKCLUB.
This is my first read from the author and it won't be my last. I loved the fact that the couple equally simped for each other. JV and Lani were too freaking cute and the kids! They took yo JV so quick and he loved them like his own. This was a sweet story and I came wait to read more from this author.
This was definitely an unconventional love story. I loved JV and Kehlani. The way how they came together to sticking it out through it all. JV Pop was a dirty, rotten snake. I'm glad they got their happily ever after. Now, we need a story on Dominique and Celeste.
This book was great from the beginning to the end. The characters were a perfect balance for each other. JV a troubled man. Kehlain the perfect single independent mother who has nothing but love to offer. I like how the author didn’t make the characters flawless. You could relate to them in many ways
This book was okay, but the lead female got on my LAST NERVE. I was soooo over her with all the extra stuff. How do you text your husband to say yo baby daddy told the kids you a 304 and then when he reacts you say “noooo baby and commence to go back by yourself with your kids and your pregnant to confront him? The book was also a little boring to me, I had to skip a lot of pages and I still didn’t finish. After he went to Zoey house I was over it once he got arrested. Also I’ve read this exact story before like the same exact storyline with little changes. It may have been the same story just years ago. I will say I’m happy that he wasn’t a drug dealer/street dude. That was the dopest part because we have a lot of black men that are successful, leaders and not in the streets.
This is my 1st book from this author and I will be going back and reading others from her.
Javyous and Kehlani were to cute and I loved those children, JV and Lani just knew their situation was just going to be for show but I seen that love blossoming when you read the flashback from Lani. But Kehlani was really getting on my nerves about how she acted every time she heard something about Zoey and Kecia as a grown woman she should have went to JV and asked him instead of acting like a brat. JV was a hothead man he really was, him and Kehlani they had me stressed 🤣.
I knew Zoey was going to be a problem because of what JV said about her in the beginning of the book Zoey. JV was trying to be nice but sometimes people won’t understand until you’re being mean. I would have liked to know what happen to Zoey and Kecia after everything these two characters just fell off after everything Zoey did.
Who needs enemies with a friend like Brooke, I will say based on her character and how she came to them her taking them out of the wedding was a plus for them! But wait Pharaoh ain’t shiddd either, I hate men like this, I knew one like that and it’s so sad that they really don’t care about the kids but their own selfishness! Lastly let’s not forget about JV trifling daddy because he ain’t shiddd either.
Everyone needs a bestie like Celeste and I am looking forward to reading her and Dominique’s story.
I loved the storyline from the onset! JV had no idea what he needed in his life, u til he and Khelanie connected! Family and their secrets, whew. Khelanie was a strong young lady, and who had her bestie and grandmother's support and love! She did what she had to do for her twins, Pharaoh, could kick rocks, money can't take the place of time and effort! JV loved the twins from the onset! Loved the epilogue! Dominique and Celeste need a story next! JV daddy wasn't ish, neither was his sister wives, ugh couldn't let go! Ms. Phyllis I k ew she was a lot Korean to JV than she let on, just didn't think his mama. Uncle Pres was a class act!
Just like a knock in the first round, I didn't see this hitting as hard as it did! Only if It's you is my first T'Lyn read but it will not be my last. I absolutely loved this married in vegas, single parent romance.
Jayvious has been raised to believe that women are a distraction and that the bag is the only thing to chase. Kehlani has been conditioned to handle her affairs in isolation and doesn't want to depend on a man again. When double shots of tequila turn into a double band on her finger it gets real. Their character journeys show that having your partner in your corner can help you win any challenger or opponent. (excuse the boxing puns lol)
Kehlani was the my type of woman.... until those hormones kicked in lol She knew her worth and wouldn't accept what Zoey and Kecia did. She demanded more from JV and he rose to the occasion every time. That man may not have had the role model of what a father should be but dammit if he didn't break the mold of being a stepfather! God Bless the men that show up and show out like Jayvious...
This book was sooooo good. I really didn't want it to end. The author really was able to make me fall in love with the characters ESPECIALLY those kids, like I really need a pic of Josey. The relationship started off rocky but once they connected it was all uphill from there. Lani came with that ultimatum and she was not wavering. Pharoah was a clown. I wish we could've gotten more from the brooke situation like why did her sis and cuz lie? I wish we could've gotten her experience after seeing how well Lani was doing.
JV and Kehlani had an unorthodox start but they worked. I think he fell for the kids first especially his princess. JV was against everything when it first came to Lani but he came to his senses real quick lol and did just what she asked even though they were some pest. Jerry and Pharaoh were beyond trash and thought they could police something they both learned a lesson real quick. If you ask me Jerry didn’t get what he truly deserved but I’ll let it go. I would to have seen Celeste and Dominique’s story because I know they both are driving each other crazy lol.
It was this whole story for me. JV is my favorite character so far. This man was literally everything. And the way he loved Kehlani literally had me reading and smiling. The whole storyline from the start was FYE ! when I say T’Lyn has me in a chokehold, it is real bad! She never disappoints and the stories just keep getting better and I LOVE IT and I LOVE MY MAN JV
It was a good book. I’m happy how it flowed. & the maturity of the characters. Not too much drama where I rolled my eyes or skipped parts. Some parts were predictable and sound like another book I’ve read. But overall I give it 5 stars. I wish we could have gotten more of update on Brooke, Kecia & Zoey. Also his father I wanted him to suffer for the crap he did. I know it’s a stand-alone,and I do this when the book is good but, can we get a part 2 lol
