Mika is just a normal high school students who dreams of having a wonderful love. And then one day, she happens to meet Hiro, the guy of her destiny. While experiencing many sad events, and while getting hurt, the time she spends with him is still one of the most happy moments in her life¡
Manga: Love Sky. Volumes: 9. Chapters: 29. Status: Completed.
*Finished reading the whole volumes.
Honestly, when I read the first volume I was going to give it only 2 stars, but I wanted to read more of this manga because it is so addictive. And I am happy I did, because it got better and better till the end.
This manga follows the typical manga girl "Mika" who is shy and didn't have a boyfriend before. One day she meets this guy "Hiro" and here starts the love story she always dreamed of. Many happy and sad moments happens and the story takes a twist I didn't expect at all. Actually, I hated how "Hiro" treated "Mika" and how he forced her to do awful shitty things. But later on I understood the reason behind his actions and I got so emotional and made sense to me a lot.
That ending! I knew this is a tragic story but OMG this end broke my heart and made me cry so hard.
SO, yeah.. I loved this manga and enjoyed reading it a lot. Even though the end is so sad but it is satisfying.
This manga was made into a movie in 2008 I think (which I didn't know till recently) and I am looking forward to watching it very soon!
Dear God,(sigh) the J-drama adaption of "Koizora" from 2008 is MUCH and MUCH better. The manga adoption and the movie adaption from 2007 starring Haruma Miura just SUCK as hell.I have not read the novel. But it was the drama adaption (that consists of 6 episodes) that made me fall in love with Hiro and Mika and their pure but heart-breaking Love-Story.That drama made me cry rivers!
What i don`t like about the manga and the movie is that they made the characters and the story (in the first half) much worse than anything. In both movie and manga, the main-hero Hiro calls out another girls name while having sex for the first time with Mika! That`s horrible and disgusting! The Hiro in the drama NEVER DID THAT and even broke up with his girlfriend when he realizes that he loves Mika. The Hiro in the drama is the Hiro i love with all my heart, but they made him so shallow in the movie and the manga.
He is a very intense and jealous character...every emotion was powerful in him, when he smiles he shines and when he is furious then he is deadly exploding, and he was willing to kill his ex-girlfriend for Mika (damn time that a hero punishes the wannabe OW,when they usually lets them get away with shit) and he protected her with all his soul til the end..and that`s beautiful and that`s also why i love the 6-episodes drama "Koizora" so much.So EVERYONE really should watch this tv-series.I won?t read more of this manga,as i know already the ending of it.But i would really like to read the original novel of "Koizora".
I have watched the movie first, so I knew what I was getting into. The story is a bit too much, as many things happen and the characters react a little oddly for me. Also, somethings were a bit over the top. The art was nice, though and some characters (manly side ones) were really likable.
I was looking for a shoujo manga recently that had tragedy in it. Came across this one and indeed, it is very tragic. The love between the main character and her first real boyfriend hits and misses. And the ending is so sad! What I liked about this manga is that it stays very close to the theme of life. We watch as the characters grow up and learn and understand each other. And also that the love between the main character and her first boyfriend is not easy, but it grows with them, and even though they each move on with life, they find a way back to each other. It's not as angsty as some other stories, but there's a sense of realism in the tale of the main character. Hiro was a good character though. I think he had a lot of depth to him, more than the main character.
But, there were a lot of things I didn't like too: how the rape was handled (more like not at all except as a plot device), the friendship between her and Aya was really checkered - how can such a friend be suspicious all the time? And a simple apology gets her off despite being the one so much in the wrong? While I have nothing against a girl moving onto the next guy after the last one hurt her, this girl don't talk enough! She constantly lets others misunderstand her and never explains why until after the problem has occurred.
I read ¡°Love sky¡± and I¡¯m gonna rate this 5 stars. This is kind of spoilers, so I recommend you to read my review after you read. Setting is pure love story about high school student. Protagonist is Mika and Hiro, and both are cliched and flawed. They fell in love and she was a pregnant. But she had a miscarriage because of Antagonist Saki, Hiro¡¯s ex girlfriend. They were shocked a lot but they were tied again with strong bonds. However suddenly, Hiro said goodbye to Mika. This is because he had a complex, cancer. So Mika went steady with the other man who is sub character and simplistic. But once she realized that fact, she nursed Hiro. He lived more 3 years, and Mika noticed that she was a pregnant. So she decided to born her baby and grow up for Hiro.

I jist finished reading this manga and girl was it a tear jerker. I fucking hate it but I also loved it. My eyes are swollen and my anxiety got triggered but I love the story so much. I think I got a lot of lessons from it and while reading it I can't help but feel nostalgia. I also felt super scared cuz I dunno what's gonna happen in the future. The story was kind of fast but very detailed so I liked it. The drawing is so so. And when I said that I liked the regret of death this isn't what I mean. Hiro just died like that like I fucking hate it. That stupid mofos hid it from Mika because she would get hurt. Well guess what she still fucking did and even attempted suicide once again. I really like the character Yuu because of how supportive he is as a boyfriend. He really loved Mika. While the character I hate the most is actually Aya. I think despite their friendship she is too toxic. I still wonder what happened to their friend in the first chapter. I would really like to reread this again sometime when I want to cry.

Honestly, I was about to drop Koizora after reading the first few volumes. The characters are meh, and the story felt rushed and muddled with every possible tragedy/taboo you can think of. But I am glad I read it till the end. The final 3 volumes of Koizora are a major tear-jerker. I didn't feel particularly strongly towards any of the characters but just the circumstances and how the story was portrayed was heart wrenching.
It's an incredible book ,l am lucky that I stumbled on this book with the beautiful romantic story . It make my heart melt and it has a huge impact on me . Which firm my believe that true love is immortal . Love is like magic which is both poison and anecdote as well . Story is very heartouching and heartbreaking too .
Okay so I've decided to give reading Mangas a try and my first pick is Koizora. I've pretty much known about this Manga a long time ago, I've heard of the movie adaptation and series adaptation. And for you who don't know I'm s huge Asian drama lover, and a huge anime lover. I grew up watching animes rather than cartoon, so we all know animes come from Mangas but I've never really read them so there I'm starting to. Finally.
I've read ALL the volumes but I don't wanna mark ALL of them as read. There's just a lot. Overall rating of the ALL the volumes is also 4 stars. So as the first volume, I won't go into detail into independently reviewing each volume. So I'll just do the review for the first volume but I've read them all.
Koizora is my first Manga read and I really liked it. It's a story of Mika, her friend Aya gave her number to Nozuma. One day, a drunk Nozuma called Mika but his friend, Hiro ended up talking to Mika who asked her for her number and they started talking on the phone. Though they haven't met, Mika felt calm and happy whenever they talk. On the first day of the second semester, they finally met. And they eventually fall in love. But Hiro's ex-girlfriend Saki threathens to hurt Mika if she doesn't break up with Hiro. Though Hiro promises to protect. Okay, that's pretty much all I can say without spoiling but there are still a bajillion things that happened after that, might as well check it out to find out.
Concerning the plot guys, it's not very original. It's very typical. But I had no problem with that because I'm pretty much expecting it. Though this is a Manga, it is pretty much similar to conteporary novels so there isn't really anything exciting or wrecking going on. You will pretty much anticipate the next happenings because well, it is JUST obvious what's going to happen next. And the creator of this Manga TRIED to put an edge to the story but I saw it coming and pretty much not surprised anymore. Doesn't that kind of edge/twist happens to many drama? So I don't have a lot to say there. That said, I still liked the it. I mean 4 stars rating right? Means really like it. And it's my first Manga read so I'll be generous. Moreover, I was pretty hooked up with it, it only took me the whole night to finish everything.
Though I did like it, let's just admit that there are lots of flaws to this Manga. I'm not sure if that's pretty common in Manga. And Managas are different from books, so maybe it's just there. I'll know when I read more right? So let's discuss the flaws.
` Predictable plot. I already mentioned this. And it's also pretty common as to other stories I've encountered. ` The romance between Hiro and Mika is a bit off. I mean, it didn't explore HOW they fall in love. ` No emphasis on WHY they fall in love. ` Too many boys getting attracted to Mika when there's other characters to look into. ` Many irrelevant things. ` The ending was okay. But no spark. ` It contains emotions. But no depth. It was described but not emphasized. Too flat. ` Some events that happened seemed forced. Not smooth. ` Ideas and emotions tend to be repetitive.
One last thing, this Manga contains a lot of mature/adult contents. So if you're senstitive I recommend you not to read it. I recommend 14+, because this is not just words you're reading, they're actual pictures/drawings. So I suggest older reader to read them. I, myself was shock to find that but I'm okay with it. I mean I'm old enough anyway. Hehe. ^^
It was a good manga. I watched the J-drama & live-action first. I'm a drama lover and I watch lots of dramas. I don't really watch a lot of J-drama but the story defo caught my attention. After watching the drama, I decided to read this manga and gave it a try.
This story is about a girl called Mika and is about to experience love for the first time. She and her friend Aya exchange phone numbers with Nozumu, a guy that Aya likes. Then one day Nozumu was drunk calls Mika and then a stranger talks to her on the phone. She felt really calm talking to the person and she couldnt wait to meet him. Then when she went back to school she meets Hiro, whom she talked on the phone all Summer and she realizes he wasn't the person she thought he would be. They immediately fall in love and they started to get along really well. Mika was going to have a baby. Hiro's ex-girlfriend,Saki tells Mika to break up with Hiro and harrased her, causing Mika's miscarriage.
Hiro and Mika's relationship was on and off. They break up. Hiro then dates other girls. Mika isnt over Hiro. Then Mika meets another guy called Yuu and at the start he treats her like a little sister and then later he falls in love with her and start with a relationship. Thats where I'm gonna stop cause I dont wanna spoil the tragic ending of this manga.
Overall I liked this manga. But there were some parts I didn't like. The manga didn't have any twist or anything. It would've have been much better if it had.
It didn't mention how Hiro or Mika fell in love. Aya gets jealous too much of Mika wherenever shes around guys. Too many guys like her, causing Aya's jealousy. Why Hiro didn't mention why he wanted to break up with Mika. I didn't like it when Mika started going out with Yuu when she wasnt obviously over Hiro.
I still recommend this manga and I highly recommend it for older teens and there is parts in this manga that makes you easily sensitive, if you're easily sensitive. I wasn't that senstive(sometimes I was) when I read it so yeah it was okay for me even I'm that much of an older teen. Overall: I give it 4 Stars meaning I really liked it :)
I was so moved by this story. I don't like tragic love stories but I just can't get over this.
I've seen this first in movie adaptation long time ago and some scenes made me cry, a lot. I was so intrigued with the movie so I searched for details and found out it's from a book. Luckily, few days ago I was able to read its manga adaptation which is quite different from the movie. I thought, I already knew the story so I guess, this time, my feelings would be neutral. But then again, at the same part of the story, I shed tears.
A story about one great love, but completely depressing. If this book's objective is to make their readers feel sad and heart broken, it did a great job, well, for me. There were also happy moments in the story but too much miserable events and I heard that this was based on a true story which makes it too painful in my heart.
I cannot complain about how the story was too predictable or too flat or no plot twist at all, if this story was really based on a true story or maybe just some part of it, (since last part of the story is unconvincing) then I think it's acceptable. Plus, of how the story was made, the author itself is the main character (based on the details I found) which I guess, not a professional writer. The story is very detailed. Like a normal, true to life story.
Last fall, over 3 million people were brought to tears by the movie Koizora. Best, Sad Beautiful, Tragic Story ever!!!!! so heartbreaking that it made my heart bleed and cry that much. the story which follows the life of a normal highschool girl who experiences many unbelievably sad events, but through it all proving that love conquers all, and this true love story remains unchanged from the movie. Not only does it simply portray the first love of the highschoolers, it shows the warmth from the family, the importance of life, the bonds with friends, and the common happenings of teens. The Best! but sad super recommended!
Mika is just a normal high school students who dreams of having a wonderful love. Except she never has it.
I introduce you to Mika, a girl who falls for this apparent perfect boy who treats her like trash but... Because he loves her. Oh! The author just throws a lot of drama in a book, and does it very badly. Rape? Yeah. Drugs? That sounds good. Mortal Ilness? Wonderful. Teenage pregnancy? Great.
The worst part, is that the author make it look like its all ok, just because he had a (stupid) reason. All the things going on between them was wrong.
Do not rely on the summary a bit bland. Nothing prepares you to read Mika's strange story: a pretty shy girl who will endure some passion and some terrible misfortune too after crossing the road of Hiro.
**This review is for the entire series (finished or unfinished). I started only adding the first volume from manga titles because, well, do you realize just how many volumes of One Piece there are?!**
Based on a true story, Koizora is one of those manga you read and never forget. This story touched me very deeply (yeah...I bawled like a baby for this one, too). Have a tissue box on hand!
I do not read manga... but this I had to because I thoroughly enjoyed the drama series and the beautiful movie. The movie made me cry so hard! I found the manga by searching online for it, and someone had generously uploaded all the volumes. My very first manga! ;)
I like the manga, the movie & the drama too much. Little bit sad in a movie but it is full of reality , it is suit the story too "the end i mean". Up to the manga i read till vol. 8 waiting for new volu,es to know what happened to Hiro but it is a very good book.
This manga got to be my new favorite! Though I kind of predictable because I instantly know why Hiro wants to break up, it's still a good story. Heart wrenching to the point that my eyes were swollen after finishing the whole manga. Definitely worth reading!
vol. 1 was amazing! hiro is the type of a guy I wanted! I'm looking forward to the next vol. I know it's amazing too because damn! Koizora was freakin amazing! i saw the movie first before reading the manga :)
