To Spark a Match

Rate this book
After five unsuccessful Seasons on the marriage mart, Miss Adelaide Duveen has resigned herself to the notion that she's destined to remain a spinster forever--a rather dismal prospect, but one that will allow her to concentrate on her darling cats and books. However, when she inadvertently stumbles upon Mr. Gideon Abbott engaged in a clandestine activity during a dinner party, Adelaide finds herself thrust into a world of intrigue that resembles the plots in the spy novels she devours.

Former intelligence agent Gideon Abbott feels responsible for Adelaide after society threatens to banish her because of the distraction she caused to save his case. Hoping to return the favor, he turns to a good friend--and one of high society's leaders--to take Adelaide in hand and turn her fashionable.

When danger surrounds them and Adelaide finds herself a target of the criminals in Gideon's case, the spark of love between them threatens to be quenched for good--along with their lives.

That was adorable. I had very high hopes for it and this book totally met them!

I think this book is in my top five of books by this author. I laughed so hard at many times when reading—I was nearly crying from laughing so hard. Their banter and conversations were just perfection. This might just be my new favorite book by Jen Turano.hmmm.

I love how when Adelaide is all dressed up for a ball, Gideon thinks she’s lovely but it’s not lovely as in “she’s-never-been-this-pretty-before-and-just-needed-getting-gussied-up which happens so often in the makeover trope and honestly annoys me a bit because the girl already was pretty, I can assure you, the guy was just too dense to see that. But, no, not Gideon. She was beautiful in his eyeslike always. Swoon. They were also good friends before any falling happened and then he also fell for her first—two things I absolutely love to see.

My only complaints would be: I wish there had been more faith content because it was very light. There was also some mishandling of guns that was supposed to be funny, but felt irresponsible of the characters. I think I would give this book a personal rating of 4.75 stars if I could.

There were so many great side characters in this book (Leopoldo and Vernon were the best additions!) and I’m super excited about the third book in this series—dare I hope it’s about Camilla and Charles? :)

I really enjoyed book one in this series. It was one of my favorite books this year. This one, unfortunately, fell a bit flat for me for some reason. I was not able to connect with the characters or the plot really, and there was quite a bit of dialogue in this that made the story drag on for me personally. That being said, I think I am the unpopular opinion, as many people have enjoyed the second book of the series. I definitely plan to continue on in the series as I generally love Jen’s writing and banter between characters, the humor etc.

This book was not bad, it just wasn’t my favorite. In this book, we have Miss Adelaide Duveene Who is a bit unconventional. I liked her character, but just couldn’t connect with her overall. In this story, she is determined to remain a spinster forever. One day she stumbles upon Mr. Gideon Abbott Who is engaged in a covert activity, and she gets involved in this world of intrigue and mystery with him. We see some matchmaking begin and the story goes on from here.

Miss Adelaide does remind me a little bit of myself because she loves to read and has a special love for cats. The romance in this is particularly sweet, but again I was not really connected with them as a couple. Gideon is a great guy who really just wants to protect Adelaide, and I really liked to see that.

I think many people will enjoy the story and find lots of laughs but for some reason I struggled overall reading this one. I loved the bookshop aspects and the mystery of the hidden journals we had here. There’s some aspects of blackmail and trying to figure out who is involved, which I did enjoy in the ending. Overall, not a favorite but glad I read it overall. I will definitely check out the next book in the series either way!

Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy to honestly read and review.

Where do I start??? Oh with this
*screams*
I ADORE THIS BOOK!

After meeting Adelaide & Gideon in book 1 (and seeing all the CRAZY situations our girly girl got into) I was READY for their story!
I couldn’t wait for all their escapades. Their predicaments. Their spark to light

And y’all *insert me literally kicking my feet* I spent my whole reading experience in a state of pure happiness! Truly I was giggling like a school girl, and straight up laughed out loud (hyenas would’ve been proud)

This book was just…FUN! From the “accountant firm to the book salon to the cats to the unmentionables to the weapons. It was just a RIDE that I was so glad I bought front row, first class, VIP seats too!

Adelaide & Gideon were just the most fun together! They just worked so well together and just knew what made the other person tick. (Being saved from being caught on fire connects some people)
I loved watching them REALIZE they had actually fallen for each other. LITERALLY THE CUTEST THING!

Truly I can’t say how much I LOVED this book! ALL THE STARS!

“As I’ve grown older, I’ve also been of the notion that God created me precisely as He intended.

I can always count on a Jen Turano book to lighten my heart and leave me smiling, and I have loved each book by her that I’ve read. But there are a select few that stand out to me as favorites and To Spark a Match is now counted among that number. My kindle version is highlighted with so many delightful quotes and scenes that make me grin just by looking back at them. From the bustle uprising (“My bustle is spring-concocted?) to the swan attack (“Tranquility had been in short supply once the birds went on the offensive.) to Gideon trying to temper Adelaide’s enthusiasm for his weapons cache (“I don’t believe large is a word we’re going to contemplate when it comes to appropriate weapons for you.) and other hilarious moments, there are so many things to love about this book.

“Gentlemen who looked as if they courted precarious activities always seemed in possession of voices that practically caressed a person’s ears, that pesky business responsible for ladies hearts going pitter-patter with alarming frequency…

Adelaide and Gideon are such fun characters to spend time with, especially when they are sharing a page and filling it with delicious banter, madcap mayhem, and swoony moments. Adelaide may be an oddity to the members of New York’s high society circles, but she quickly endears herself to us readers when she whips a book out of her reticule at a party. Not only does she love books, but she wants everyone to belong even the cats she seems to collect and has an adventurous spirit tempered with a heart of gold. Gideon is one of the most swoonlicious heroes that Turano has created, and I may have even shivered along with Adelaide whenever he would lean close to her ear and talk. Also equally swoony is how he just can’t tell Adelaide ‘no when she wants to be involved in his investigation or wants him to adopt a cat. Even better though, his kind heart is definitely his swooniest trait.

“There was something incredibly sweet about a man who courted danger taking the time to help a woman who’d suffered a horrible morning find a bit of peace.

Bottom Line: I’m not sure anywhere else besides Jen Turano could take cat undergarments, attacking swans, grappling hook guns, gowns snagged in trees, former intelligence operatives, a retired matchmaker, adorable animals, bargain books, and an adventurous near-spinster and weave these seemingly incompatible elements into a farcical series of events that makes perfect sense. Add an endearing romance and a sweet message of being who God created you to be, and you’ve got a must-read story that will put a smile in your heart. You’ll love the wit, the friendships, the hilarity, the suspense, and of course the kisses. To Spark a Match is definitely going to have a solid spot on my ‘Jen Turano favorites list henceforth and forevermore.

Happy Release Day!

4.5⭐In 1888, in the Hudson River Valley.

Adelaide Duveen has come to terms with the fact that she may never get married and will remain a spinster. Although it's a rather dismal prospect, it will allow her to focus on her beloved cats and books. However, during a dinner party, she accidentally discovers Mr. Gideon Abbott engaged in a covert activity, which thrusts her into a world of intrigue resembling the plots in the spy novels she loves to read.

"And to that, I say we'll only be truly successful if society can embrace me without expecting me to comfort to their strict rules of propriety"

Clean romance, witty dialogue, strong characters, quirky situations, Beautifully written. It can be read as a standalone but I will recommend reading the previous book,

I enjoyed reading this book as it was filled with humor, gangsters, spies, cats, dogs, and a touch of sweet romance. The story had elements of both comedy and a good detective novel, and it was interesting to see how Adelaide Duveen got herself into trouble. The chemistry between Adelaide and Gideon was evident to everyone but themselves and the mystery was full of surprises. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bethany House Publishers for providing me with an eARC. I truly enjoyed it.

Jen Turano is a favorite author! I love her hilarious, romantic, madcap books. To Spark a Match is one of my favorites.

I loved Adelaide! She’s a smart, kind, resigned spinster, & definite cat & book lover. She also has a habit of finding trouble. If there’s danger, fire, intrigue, or mystery, she’ll stumble into it.

Gideon Abbott feels responsible for Adelaide ever since she saved his case & embarrassed herself in front of Society. He tries to help her by enlisting his matchmaking friend to take her in hand. But, though Gideon tries to hide his profession from Adelaide, she’s his equal at every turn & quickly discerns his true profession involving herself in his case.

I loved Gideon! While he wants to help Adelaide, he doesn’t want to “change her. He loves her just the way she is. If only she didn’t wind up in so many accidental, dangerous situations. I loved how she turns his world upside down from getting him to take a darling kitten named Harvey to helping him with his case. He just needs to learn to trust her intelligence & ability to help herself. I loved his secret room of weapons & gadgets.

Filled with laugh out loud humor, romance, a mystery full of twists and turns, and the craziest of situations, this gilded age charming book definitely warmed my heart and kept me chuckling. It’s a lighthearted, enjoyable read that’s perfect for a cold fall day. Highly recommend to historical romance & romcom fans. Though part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

Oh my! This book was infinitely cute and fun and cozy.

My problems (short and sweet):
A certain male someone took a minute to realize he was in love…but it’s still cute
The other thing is this book could have had a different name. It would have been “My Dear Miss Duveen, because the amount of times someone said that to Adelaide. Not necessarily a bad thing though. It’s just a cool subtitle

The good things:
Pretty much everything else. Adelaide and Gideon were absolutely adorable!! Adelaide is so relatable and kind. I love a certain scene where we see her true character and transformation. Gideon was great and frustrating, but his character grew. I liked this book a lot better than the first, and I can’t wait for book three. I also adored the bookishness and humor/banter. Charles and Camilla are excellent side characters

Content: a few kisses (below semi-detailed, handling of guns and minor violence)

TO SPARK A MATCH is a delightful blend of mystery, humor, and inspirational romance. “Mystery alludes me because I’m simply not mysterious. is Adelaide’s response to one of her mother’s many attempts to make her more attractive to the men on New York’s Gilded Age marriage mart after five seasons. She really seems to be headed back home once again to her books and her cats, which would be just fine with her. Then she finds herself in the middle of an adventure at one of the parties she has long been forced to endure.

This is such a captivating book. The dialogue is playful and humorous, and the author takes gentle but clever jabs at the “marriage mart. The romance is sweet and clean, but the focus truly stays on Adelaide and her individuality. The portrayal is authentic and the reader will be transported to the Gilded Age. The mystery is bookish in nature, which was a pleasant surprise. I just can’t get over how FUNNY this is. In addition, it’s so witty, it’s bookish, and it has cats! Check this one out.

To Spark A Match by Jen Turano is my favorite in the series so far. When you mix historical romance with a spy mission? It is the perfect blend. I was so excited to see that Adalaide had her own story in this series, she was my favorite in the first book and I needed her to have her own book. She was witty, charming and adventurous, and the hero Gabriel wasn't too bad either 😉.

Adelaide is odd, she knows she is odd and she also knows the long list of short comings her mother has encouraged her to hide so that she might find a match. Still she isn't really fond of the idea of pretending to be someone she is not and so Adelaide is herself and as much of a wallflower as her mother will allow her to be in society. However that is all about to change.
"I’m twenty-three years old and have been out in society for five Seasons, both winter and summer. It would be next to impossible to convince anyone I’m anything other than peculiar."

Gideon is in the spy business and accidentally is caught but Adelaide in the midst of trying to get a knocked out body out of a party she is attending. She valiantly creates a distraction for him, but it goes a little too well and now she is in peril of being cut out of society completely. Gideon has a plan though to make sure that doesn't happen. Enlisting a friend they will make Adelaide into a incomparable to the 400 and by doing so secure her society future. Thing is it might be a little harder than they thought and Adelaide is more interested in Gideon's spy business than society and she will find a way to become a part of that one way or another.

The thing I really like about Adelaide is she is very comfortable with who she is. She is different and she doesn't necessarily want to be like everyone else. So while she might agree to Gideon's plans she wants to do it for entirely different reasons. One, this could help make cats fashionable again and then she might have a hope of finding homes for some of the felines she has rescued. Two, it will appease her mother and that would be nice as she doesn't want to distress her. And finally it will mean that she gets to spend time with Gideon and could possibly help him on his case.
“I believe my propensity for mishaps, my love of books, my lack of proficiency with most feminine arts, my enormous collection of cats, and my questionable fashion sense already sets me worlds apart from the crowd and not in a favorable manner.

This was a really fun story with some funny happening and Adelaide seems to get into a bit of trouble everywhere she goes. She is really a disaster magnet which does lead to some very funny scenes. I also love her enthusiasm for all things sleuthy and spy related. She really shows some great aptitude for it all and has potentially found her calling.

Gideon is a fantastic hero, both encouraging Adelaide in most of her curiosities, if not reluctantly at first and taking care with what she can start off with. He never thought he could marry with such a dangerous job but Adelaide might make him change his toon on that.

There are some fun side characters and the mystery to solve as well that were a lot of fun. Also this is a relatively clean book and so there are no sex scenes but plenty of romantic tension between the couple.

Overall a really fun story about marching to your own beat and still finding a way in the world.

Story Enjoyment Rating 9/10 Christian Faith rating 1.5/3
Fun historical romantic suspense. This one had more drama than the first book.
Following Adelaide who gets almost cut out of society due to an unfortunate event that she created in order to draw attention from Gideon. Gideon is a secret investigator and feels obliged to help Adelaide to regain her position in society after she helps him.
I enjoyed the characters, they were unexpected and didn’t fit with the norms. There is more suspense in this book than the first book in the series. There is still a lot of humour and physical comedy.
There was one or two moments when the character’s Christian faith came to the forefront of the story, but most of the book read like a clean historical fiction.

From the very start of this story Adelaide and Gideon deal with unique and funny circumstances. I really enjoyed the sweet romance and affection that developed between them. The author always throws animals in the mix and I so enjoyed that in this book, particularly Gideon’s interactions with them. This story also had an interesting mystery complete with spies and a room of weapons. The banter between characters was fun, if a little bit drawn out, but I did giggle a few times wading through the quick comebacks.

I received this book complimentary as a member of the author’s launch team. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.

With sparkling wit and charm, the Countess of Comedy has written another Gilded Age novel that will have readers aglow with merriment!

"To Spark a Match" combines a sweet he-falls-first romance, cute animal companions, a not-so-secret agency, New York high society, and a bookish mystery into a delightfully chucklesome caper.

Quirky bibliophile Adelaide and protective intelligence agent Grant may well be my favorite Turano couple to date. They were just adorable together! 🥰

If you're in need of a book to brighten your day, trust To Spark a Match!

Another super fun historical romance from Jen Turano! This is book 2 in the Matchmakers series. Though this story stands alone, the main characters in this novel do show up in book 1, so you can get a fuller picture of their history perhaps by reading the first book, but it's definitely not essential to the enjoyment of this book. This book follows Adelaide Duveen, who seems to find herself in absurdly chaotic situations, which has her somewhat shunned from the rest of society. When Gideon Abbott finds himself in Adelaide's debt, he requests a favor of socialite Camilla Pierpont to make Adelaide "fashionable" for the upcoming season. The hijinks that ensue are quite hysterical, as any fan of the author's would come to expect.

In addition to the hilarity, this book had an excellent plot-line with a mystery, some bad guys, an anti-hero, and of course a romance. The character development in this one was stellar and the characters themselves were ones you could easily be friends with, even if they were high society. The faith thread in this one was subtle, but present as Adelaide felt convicted to be better than "just fashionable" and believed that God had created her for more. All in all, this was a delightful read and one I thoroughly enjoyed especially since it followed a heavier read before it. I can always count on this author to give me a wonderful novel with a lot of great laugh-out-loud moments. Special thanks to the author and publisher for an advance copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

To Spark a Match by Jen Turano is the second book in her The Matchmakers series, but I would consider it a stand alone novel. Miss Adelaide Duveen believes she will be a spinster, but has made peace and enjoys her cats and books. She is content with her life until she is completely ostracized from society. Mr. Gideon Abbott is partly responsible for her issues and tries to find a way to help her back into society’s good graces. But, what if they have a spark of something more?

Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors and once again she did not disappoint. The story was lively and had me laughing from beginning to end. I was enchanted with the interesting details about the Gilded Age and enjoyed immersing myself in the story. Adelaide is an endearing quirky character who I enjoyed getting to know along with Gideon. The secondary characters had great personalities that had me wanting to visit New York and meet them all!

To Spark a Match has mystery, humor, great characters, and sweet romance. The story drew me in and it was hard to put down. An absolute delightful read! I highly recommend To Spark a Match by Jen Turano!

What is there not to love about a Jen Turano book? To Spark a Match has two characters you can't help but loving! Well, them and their cohorts! Poor Adelaide. She just wants to be herself... and have a few cats. Is that too much to ask? It's hard not to be smitten with her just for the fact that she's just so "normal" while surrounded by the four hundred. Adelaide also has a heart of gold, willing to help others at her own expense.

And Gideon, that poor guy could not catch a break in trying to keep Adelaide out of danger. Try as he might, she kept finding it... or it kept finding her! While she didn't want to find herself mixed up with unknown dangerous people, it seemed she couldn't avoid it.

The beginning of the story had a lot going on, I will say that! There were times I felt like it was a bit long winded. Jen's typical humor and crazy antics with the characters were always woven into the story, constantly giving a good giggle!

I will say, I enjoy stories that add an animal into it. Jen did a fun job with the cats in this story.

I'm looking forward to book three and can't wait to read it!

Adelaide is such a fun character. She is always finding herself in some sort of crazy situation. Gideon always seems to see her in such a situation. Adelaide discovers that Gideon is doing some undercover work, and she wants to help. Gideon doesn't want her involved but unfortunately, she unintentionally becomes involved, and Gideon must keep her safe from the criminals. I really love this author's sense of humor; she is so funny and makes for hilarious characters. Adelaide and Gideon work great together and I love how they tease each other and are so blunt with one another. I love Adelaide wanting to give cats to everyone. This book is full of laughter, romance and danger. Overall, a great read and I definitely recommend.

"I don't go looking for trouble. It simply finds me."

We met Adelaide in book 1 and I knew she was a keeper from the minute she was introduced. Constantly getting into hilarious, awkward and sometimes (okay, almost always) dangerous situations she is the character you want to read about when you need some fun and entertainment in your life!

Gideon is exactly what you want in your male main character! He's rugged, tough and a big teddy bear on the inside...especially when it comes to Adelaide...whether he wants to admit it or not!

"I've clearly taken leave of my sense," -Gideon.

Oh these two are SO, SO good together! I loved having Camilla working her magic.

This book is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, hilarious encounters, slow burn romance, bookish characters, cats and a dash of mystery! I highly recommend it, friends!

Word just dropped that Camilla's romance will be book 3 and I am counting down the days until I have that book in my hands!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Content: slow burn romance, cats galore, fickle society, matchmaking, mild suspense, violence and mystery, and kisses only.

DNF on page 162

I really tried to push through this one. I really liked book one and wanted to like this too.

Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into it. I kept having to force myself to pick it up and whenever I did try to read it, I would lose focus quickly. I didn’t care for Adelaide and how she would pester Gideon into telling her all of the CONFIDENTIAL details of his case and then he would tell her everything IN A PUBLIC SETTING!!🤦🏼‍♀

I also was just super bored and somewhat confused. I didn’t understand what this case Gideon was on was about; they just kept bringing up this one guy and this opera singer with no context
And it kept flipping from that plotline to the one where they’re trying to bring Adelaide back into society, and then some parts that went with nothing at all of Gideon and Adelaide together talking about nothing and yet everything and their conversations were always in convoluted circles…all of the conversations between any of the characters were like that actually

There were some parts that were cute and funny but it just wasn’t enough to keep me reading. 🤷🏼‍♀

I do not think this is a bad book, and I don’t want to discourage anyone from reading it. If you read this book and loved it, then I’m glad! It just wasn’t for me. 💙

Have you read any of Jen Turano's books yet? Or maybe the better question would be, how MANY of her books have you read? She has such a wonderfully unique way of writing! Her books are hilarious and witty and SO fun!

I loved the mystery in this book, and Adelaide was delightfully...problematic. Not that she sought problems out; they just seemed to find her, and in the most amusing of ways! And Gideon was the perfect complement to Adelaide's personality.

If you are literally giggling as you read, you know it's a good book! And I giggled. A LOT.

“I have always believed God looks after us, and I think you can see that has certainly been the case with Adelaide, given the life threatening circumstances she finds herself in.
I thoroughly enjoyed this hilarious story about Adelaide who is so accident prone that she is sure she will not marry, and Gideon who is always there to try to protect her - sometimes from herself. She uses her ability to creat chaos to help Gideon out of a tight spot and in turn begs to be a part of his secret agency. The fun is never far away- look for the epic bustle blunder.
Matchmaker, Camilla Pierpont, is tasked with bringing Adelaide back into the good graces of the society elite after too many disastrous episodes render her out of vogue. Nefarious, shady characters and behind the scenes intrigue make for a book that so kept me in stitches that I did not want to put it down. The witty banter was the best!
If you want an absorbing story and a great laugh, do not miss this book.

An enjoyable historical read with a lot of witty banter, unique characters, and a little romance. Set in 1888 New York, when society was ruled by the 'Knickerbockers', Adelaide is a stand out when she stumbles through her social engagements, with embarassing mishaps, causing tongues to wag and some to shun her. Help arrives though in the form of an unexpected friendship.

"As I've grown older, I've also been of the notion that God created me precisely as He intended."

The story is told mainly through a lot of conversations, which are filled with wit and humor, as Adelaide finds herself in some lively company. Their adventures involve action and danger, yet Adelaide seems to rise up to the challenges. Her commitment to being true to her unique self is commendable, as well as learning how to work alongside Gideon and Camilla. Her other side kicks bring a lot of interest to the story as they team up against some dangerous characters. I enjoyed watching the story unfold scene by scene, especially as she learns to defend herself. She is a hoot! Anyone who has felt like they don't 'fit in', will identify with her struggles. I loved her lively positive spirit from page one, and her acceptance of others from all walks of life.

Recommend for readers who enjoy lighter historical clean fiction with humor, mystery and a little romance.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was very excited to get this book. The main character, Adelaide, appeared in the first book, and I wanted to know more about her character. Her love of cats told me I would instantly like her, and I did! My main complaint about this book was the characters from the first book never made an appearance. Adelaide and Gwendolyn had such a wonderful friendship in the first book, and I missed that. Other than that, it was a great read.

This series has quickly stolen its way to a new comfort read for me!

Adelaide and Gideon are perfectly matched. The layers of mystery and mayhem add such a fun dimension. And don’t get me started on the banter! 😂

Plus, Leopold and Vernon are hilarious ancient darlings and need to be protected at all costs!

I have read all of Jen Turano's books. They are full of humor and wit and banter. This one was no exception.

To Spark A Match is the second book in The Matchmakers Series. The two main characters were introduced in the first book, but this one could be read and well understood without having read the A Match in the Making, the first in the series.

I listened to the audiobook and didn't love the narrator. She is very talented and did the different character voices well enough. She has read other books by Jen Turano. There was just something distracting to me with her reading. I don't know if it was that she was breathy or if I was just very aware of mouth noises she sometimes made. I almost felt like I spent quite a bit of time thinking about her reading and not paying attention to the story as much. As a result I don't feel like I connected with the characters or the plot lines as well in this book as I have in others. Maybe it was the story itself, but I think the narrator played a part in that for me.

This was a really fun read!

Yet again, I discovered after the fact it's Book 2 in a series; I did wonder at times, with passing references that seemed to indicate "there's an existing story here," but it still stood well on its own and I didn't feel (very :D) lost, lol. I'm excited to read Book 1 and fill in the gaps!

Fans of the movie _What a Girl Wants_ and British period pieces (book or movie) will enjoy this historical look at the deb world (I can't say "deb" without thinking of Oliver James doing the same in his delicious British accent in aforementioned movie, lol: "My mother was a deb") and all that goes with it. I loved the splash of intrigue and am super excited to dive into it more--glad there's more material readily available in Book 1!

Turano's sense of humor comes out loud and clear in this read, too, which is fantastic. It made me literally LOL at times!

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

To Spark A Match by Jen Turano is another wonderful story. I believe I read this in one day. (Don’t tell my other books this that I’ve been working on for months). I was supposed to clean my house that day but this book was just too good to put down. I laughed out loud several times. How could I not? I won’t spoil it but if you need a good laugh and a great story that you can’t put down, go get this book right now.

Can we talk about the characters? Not only are the main characters well rounded and have depth, the side characters are just as lovely!

I’ve read quite a few books by this author and enjoyed them, but I am really enjoying the Matchmaker series. This book follows Adelaide, who was a side character in the first book. She was definitely a quirky character in book one and was a lot of fun to follow in this one. She and Gideon had some cute banter back and forth and they were both so witty. I liked the side characters as well. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Jen has done it again. I laughed and giggled my way through this story, and I loved every minute of it. Adelaide and Gideon are perfect at banter and their chemistry is off the charts. This story charmed me completely! A perfect read for me.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and also purchased my own Audible copy. All thoughts are my own.
